This game is a masterpiece- one of the best in the shooter genre. The console ports were excellent too.
It's original name in arcades was RAYFORCE. They had to change it because of a trademark dispute. Also, the Saturn version in Japan is Layer Section, and in the US is Galactic Attack. Confusing, I know. The first in a excellent trilogy, that's for damn sure.

So in some of the early Arcade PCBs it's called RayForce and in the later ones it's called Gunlock?! Because the Saturn EURO PAL version is also called Gallactic Attack like on the US Saturn.
Looks better with scanlines. Just completed it on MAME running on the GPD XD. Great game!!

I don't know but Raycrisis came first.
NO in Gunlock you have to destroy the computer that took over the Earth. Raystorm has NO connection to that story.
Gunlock / Rayforce was made first. Then Raystorm which has an unrelated story. Then Raycrisis came out which happens before Rayforce. But the story of Raystorm is separate and not connected. That's all I'm saying.

looks like fun, isn't the RAY SHMUP series inspired by this game? it looks like it.
para que esquivas si todos sabemos que estas en MODO INVULNERABLE... en el minuto 15 un misil te atraviesa. Siempre juegas de esa manera, no es una vergüenza perder alguna nave, pero hacer TRAMPA es imperdonable!!

No worries, the planet was taken over by the computer called Con-Human. Although it was a nice planet it was no longer the earth we knew.
