Its all about LEVERAGES

- Have you ever wondered why it seems like for some people advanced bodyweight skills come faster?
The obvious thing that probably comes to your mind at first is the bodyweight of an athlete. Its a valid point, but is it everything?
I spent some time researching this topic, which let me look at it from a wider perspective. I collected my findings and put it all together in the most convinient form I could.
It turns out that there is much more to the bodyweight training predisposition then i thought...

Youve been doing these calisthenics content 500% better than Chris Hernia
The secret of planche has been explained too good in this video 😱💪🏼
I really like that you spoke about different parts of body in regards to leverages, not just "height". But also u kinda took away my excuse. Liked anyways. 😏
Thank you 🙏🏻
blaming dinkleberg's always viable
I liked this video, you have a good knowledge and know what you are talking about, good information!
Means a lot to me. Thank you very much and stay tuned for more ;)
Im training since I was 10 years old. I started gym with 16. Im 25 now and I dedicated myself to Calisthenics 2 years ago. My life-style and nutrition is perfectly healthy. I never even smoked and I never drink.
And I still can not Planche.
You should start drinking
Smoking will defo help as well

sometimes it's not about the strength that one lack, it's about the understanding of your body. i was stuck on tuck planche for a while and then i realize that i couldn't really feel my arm doing the planche, i found out that the problem was i couldn't straighten my arm. then i started doing some maltese presses (ofc i couldn't lift myself up) just to feel the straight arm, that was one of the best choice that i've ever made. 2 weeks later, now i can do full planche with the resistant band strapped to my belly, i think i can unlock the full planche soon
Bro your channel needs more recognition
Should be noted that while arm length dont affect the planche and FL much they still play a big role in the difficulty of more advanced moves like maltese, Victorian, and iron cross
True point ;)
Interesting topic, keep them coming!
excellent video man! completely agree with you! straddle planche is one of my goal now. it's coming very slowly though ^^ we are all different height weight etc but can all do it for sure! hard work will pay off
anyway the journey in itself is fascinating!
just subbed to you man keep the great content coming!
Awesome! Im glad i could provide some value. More materials in preparation. Thank you so much for the sub. Means a lot to me ;)
How far man. Did you succeed. How is your training going
Absolutely great content, subbed 👌
this is a great video man. i cant even do a tucked planche
Thank you! It was a first one on the channel - recommend checking out new content ;)
Great video man, looks like you put lots of work into it. 💪
Thank you man. I really appreciate it, yes i actually made that video couple of months ago, and it took lots of effort not gonna lie. But thats exactly the content i want to provide. Im looking a bit scared by the camera in this vid considering it was the first one i see haha. but i already got used to it. Thank you a lot Jose, and hope the recovery going fast.
Well done man, awesome video!
Thank you Luka that gives me a boost to work on them vids ;)
@@FrinksmovementTV Anytime man, just keep them coming, I'm 100% that your channel will gain a lot of traction pretty fast :)
I love your enthusiasm in how you believe - anyone - can do it, even though we're all different.
I used to do karate. The result of all those kicking is having big legs. I'm short ( 1.7 M ) but I have very heavy legs which is a dream for me to achieve the planche
If someone posts a video that they learnt Planche in a few months.
Then you know they are like 5ft tall lol.
As a 5 ft 7 guy who learned planche in 6 months, i feel this is a personal attack
@@rafaelpedroso2087 🤣
@@rafaelpedroso2087 what was your routine? and did you level up to this day? how's progress
I'm 5'1 and I learned the planche for only 5 months lol
all your videos are just pure pleasure to watch ! I learn so much of this
Started experimenting in casual calisthenics 3 months ago, i can see the progress :)
that's the most factual explanation
Great video Broo👍🏻
Thank you bro! New stuff coming soon ;)
I am a sprinter with big and strong legs, and because of that I think that my COM is too low, although i,m not very tall (1.75) ... that's why I hardly progress on planche while in other progressions I go quite advanced .
it's frustrating
Yeah i completely understand the frustration. My COM is also pretty low. Gotta work with what we have i guess, but we can do it. Good luck 👍
Great video, I've got really long legs, and every static movement is hard for me, sometimes I'm not sure if it's worth it to put in 2/3 years of training to get straddle planche.
First of all. Thank you. It really means a lot to me. Adressing your uncertainty. You gotta answer yourself.. However what im gonna say is, IT IS ALWAYS WORTH to put in the work if you have a choice to do so or not. And mark my words, you GONNA GET THERE, if you just stay consistent and smart about your training. Be sure to set yourself smaller goals - for example, slow tuck planche eccentric, or red band straddle hold 10 seconds. You can always "break" your goal to smaller pieces and then suddenly this long and wavy way will become just a group of stairs toward the goal. Im gonna adress bodyweight training programming in my future videos, and get more in deph with that. Have a good one, and remember not to give up. As im pretty sure every single healthy man on this planet can achieve straddle planche if he put the work in it ;)
@@FrinksmovementTV I totally agree that straddle planche is in reach for everybody, but full planche isn't. People like FitnessFAQ, and many more who train for 10years+, and put A LOT of work in to it, still struggle to hold straddle for more than 5 seconds.
Thanks for answer, i hope your channel grows quickly:)
I WAS HERE AS 55TH SUB! :P
@@q4rty Haha thank you bro! I will remember ;) Oh and with full i agree. I myself cant even attempt it, after having 3,4 + seconds straddle holds. Have a great day and once again thank you. Highly, highly appreciated
Roughly same situation here. I'm 195cm tall, 2/3 of my body is made of legs and i've also got chimpanzee arms, practically the worse possible build for calisthenics/gymnastics, but honestly getting some progress while knowing you have a ton of genetic disadvantages is one of the best feelings in the world. Sure, you won't be able to keep the pace of other gifted people or boast about your sick skills on insta, but who gives a fuck honestly, we're doing it for ourselves and the more difficult the road the more satisfaction we'll get after reaching our goal.
@@Spar7anProjec7 man, you have advantage with girls, nobody wants a teenager who is 165cm 😂 however I started training calisthenics and realised I have and advantage in this. Learning tuck planche from 1 second to 22 in one month. We have totally different conditions but, keep it up! The gains will come!
I wish I had an army of gorillas doing planches and front levers
Wow i watched so much video but this is the best video i find!!👏Keep the good job
Im glad! this was my first video (arguably the worst quality wise haha) I recommend you to check out the latest stuff on the channel ;)
Bro, I have been training for one year and I wasn't able to hold a planche for even one second, but when I understood the lever ,in one month I can hold planche for more than 10 seconds and can do planche push ups, and able to do planche with hard grips
Thats absolutely awesome! Yeah understanding the simple concept of "lean' helps a lot! Good job my friend
@@FrinksmovementTV thank you very much my broo💙💙💙
Your video was very helpful 😃👍
Glad you think so!
Great explanations!
if u observe those who planche and do front levera clean af tend to be reaaally good at heavu pulls and dips (at least bw kg added to dip and pull) and have a heavy deadlift there u go at some point they become powerlifters as well
So, because I'm 2.00 meters I have to get The Rock's strength
but how impressive thats gonna be!
@@FrinksmovementTV actually ur right
That is Reason the rock Can not do a planche
The rock isn't that strong in real life
Interesting video. I learnt interesting things about the leverages. About the arms length I am a bit sceptical but it makes sense.
I subscribed.
Planche is a long and dangerous journey.
About routines and progression, a lot of the best street workout athletes like Valentin Blanc, Nicolas Carré or Dai-Long Huynh says that you should rely more on your sensation than on a really structured routine.
I agree with them, I don't have their level but working on elements that feel challenging is definitely helping.
5/5 content!
1.6 meters tall, short torso and LONG, LONG arms with a lot of really high shoulder strength. I don't really need to learn that much, in fact when I was trying planche progressions.
4:45 I think you are starting to confuse a few things here. The lever arm in the planche/front lever is the distance from your shoulder girdle to your center of mass, not your arm length.
So longer arms dont increase the lever in these two exercises (but they do in the iron cross for example).
It depends, if we look at purely shiulder flexion - longer arm means more force we have to put - but because we need to lean more with shorter arm the arm length wont contribute to difficulty as much
@@FrinksmovementTV If we would calculate the torque our own bodyweight produces in our shoulder joints in the planche position, we would come to the conclusion it only depends on the distance center of mass to shoulder girdle and not the arm length, since the lever arm has to be measured perpendicular to the force our bodyweight generates.
Lets assume an easy model, x is the distance CoM to shoulder girdle, G our bodyweight * gravity then:
torque = x *G .
The relation between armlength, x and the angle of the arms (like in 5:05 ) is:
x = armlength * sin(angle).
So the torque is independent of arm length.
"longer arm means more force we have to put" This is true for a lot of things, but interestingly enough not for planching and front levers, since the lever arm exists independently from arm length. This is also why planching and front lever is way harder for taller people (more relative strength recquired), since the lever arm (distance center of mass toshoulder girdle) pretty much directly correlates with height.
The lever is a bit complex. Its the distance of your shoulder compared to where the force is being applied, aka your palms, lets say force, lever A and then measuring that in comparison to the lever of your center of mass where the distance is that to your palms, lets say ,force, lever B.If A>B then you can hold a planche.
@@leftvassis Ideally the palms are directly over your center of graviy.
If A>B then there is no equilibrium, so you dont hold the planche in the correct position (unless your compensate for the new resulting moment arm with your wrists).
A has to be equal to B if we are ignoring compensation by the wrists.
@@ShOcKTeh For taller people its almost impossible though to have the palms directly under COM,not only because of the lean but also because of the stress on the wrists.A being equal to B is the minimum force required to hold a planche. If A>B then the hold is easier for you
Best video
Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Can you explain how to achieve proper pressure point? It is very important because it makes planche easier. I am into it for some time now but still didn't got it.
Basically long legs make the movement harder because of the leverage and need to lean more. Longer arms on paper should help for more stability. Short torso is great if you have short legs. In my case, long ass legs, short af torso and arms longer than they should. That's why I struggled so much on the basics and can barely manage 1 leg tucked FL and MAYBE a Straddle Elbow Lever. I shall not give up!!!
love your content ! finding your channel/ ig page has been a great discovery, well my story : im short (my height is less than 170 cm) and my weight is about 62Kg, i used to be able to hold a tuck planche a few months ago but now i cant, dont really know what happened since my training seems to be improving and my weight and height are the same, but i hope to regain the strenght that is missing xdd, Keep on making great videos!
Wow thank you soo much for this. Well many factors may play a role. Keep on working and become aware what is missing ;) Good luck brother!
Well i Saw somebody learn front lever in 3 month, i have been going for frontlever in 1 year and Are at advanced tuck
a lot of people judging and talking about planche and have none of the brilliant information this smart man in this video has lol
I'm 1,81, so definitely not short, and after 15 years of football have pretty big legs comparing to my upper body. I'm basically fucked.
random question: planche, front lever, etc, these are not the best exercises for gaining muscle mass or? that is just skill exercises? i dont want to learn new movements. that is a waste of time if i just want muscle mass.
The simple answer for that question would be - depends on your approach. Exercise like front lever pulls or rows are great exercises for your back, but you dont HAVE to do them, and you can pretty much get same hypertrophy responce with simple pullups and barbell rows. In fact, any resistance exercise that you can progressively overload over time and accumulate enough volume in will make a job. So if you dont want any skills - you dont have to train them, and it wont inhibit your hypertrophy (muscle building) gains

👏👏👏
After 4 weeks I am at the same level of others being trained for almost 1 year.
we have the same weight. but I am 20cm shorter and leaner, my butt almost doesn't exist...
My bro is 6ft and he can straddle planche hold for 6 secs but when I’m looking at the videos he doesn’t lean that much and has a lot of leverage in his legs and arms with a smaller torso
*I have this friend that is small and has skinny legs, it took him 8 months to get planch an front lev. I feel bad wen I see him improve 3x faster than me : (
For me its ben 7 Months and I'm still stuck with straddle an I don't even have a straddle front lev, cuz I'm tall and my legs are heavy. I'm only good at pistol squads... what should I do man
mega super ! dzięki za fajny filmik
Dziękuję!
5:23 I am not a physicist either, but I believe that your reasoning about arm length is false. I believe that the longer your arms are the better. Imagine someone with 5 meter long arms. They could almost rest their entire bodyweight on their arms. At the same time, the point on the arm where your shoulder muscles are attached will very likely be further from the shoulder proportionally to how long your arm is, giving you more power to rotate the arm.
The reason tall people have a harder time reaching the planche is not the distance to the center of mass, since the shoulder muscles attach proportionally further from the shoulders, which compensates. The reason is that their muscles are built of longer muscle fibres, which makes them not able to be as explosive as shorter people. Therefore tall people are not as strong in military shoulder press, for example, as short people, compared to their bodyweight.

Oh there's Han 🖐👋
Yes!!
2:15 Is that t_atwood? I follow him on instagram
But isn't the difficulty the same because of the relative strength? (Weight to strength ratio)
It is one of the factors, the other ones are leverages, body fat %, fiber type distribution, insertions etc. ;)
@@FrinksmovementTV very interesting and helpful, thank you! I will keep all factors in my mind. But I think that the most important one is hard work!

its funny how i can hold a front lever but i cant even hold a half decent tuck planche :")
Anatomy. I know a guy who never worked out in his entire life. He trained Front Lever for 2 months and was able to do it.
And me who is training since 15 years. Dedicated to Calisthenics 2 years ago and always had a perfectly healthy life-style. I look 2x more ripped than most Cali athletes.
Still can not Front Lever at ALL.
Not having the anatomy for Calisthenics really is demoralizing.
Yea same i can do victorian in pbars and supinated fl pull up and i cant planche and im not really tall so i think it was because i was training bad, tuck progresions are shit i never did tuck fl i just did negatives and i got it so guess that probably negatives would help me
So basically the genetic blessed Street Workout athlete is the one who have long arms and short legs xD
you just got 2000 subs over night...

Im sorry, but this video is just an axiom.. "trust the process" that's the only motivational line, anyways kind of a waste of time sorry
