Thank you so much for showing that this is possible, and doesn't cost that much. But that cost me $25.00 for the tablet holder and I just had to loosen a seat bold, slide the holder under the sear mount and tighten the bolt up. So I still have the car undamaged and have a tablet, but I can take the tablet out anytime I want by loosening 1 bolt. Plus...I can fit a 10 inch tablet in the holder.
Nice cheap & quick build, I'd prefer using an speaker amp which is connected to the stock speakers and hooking it up to the tablet using an RCA to 3.5mm aux adapter for the long run though
Bro, put your cam on manual focus so you can focus it on the dash, and not the reflection. I was considering doing a similar project, but oped for a full android hear unit instead because all the integrations I am considering like back up cam, aux inputs, etc are already baked in and work seamlessly instead of having to use all kinds of adapters and hacked software. Great that we have these options now, and not too expensive either. A decent android head unit is less than $150 USD.
It's a great idea but you could have done it so much cleaner, and without having the deck put into the glove box. For example you made a custom piece to hold the tablet, you could have made a modified cover that would have a swivel hindge that would move the tablet up and down, but when set in a resting position, it'd be flush with the deck. Or various other ways. Sure good tech, and sound are important to a vehicle overall feel. But having an asthetic look that blends well with a great looking car is just as important.

Does your car stereo turn on when your car is turned on, or every time you turn your car on, in order for the built-in amp to work, you have to open a glove compartment to turn the stereo on as well? I hope my question is not confusing.
Just out of curiosity could you bypass the stereo if you had all of your speakers wired directly to an amplifier. Could you run a 3.5 to rca splitter and run the RCA's directly to the input of the amplifier? I was trying to figure a way to do this without a receiver/head unit.

Would that not get the tablet's battery drained and turn the tablet off? I mean when the ignition if off, is the tablet running on its battery. Thanks. I differently think this is the best video on this car dash hack.
mumihp thanks so much man ! It’s wired into the cigarette lighter so only gets power when the ignition it turned on it will never drain car battery when connected here. The acrylic is a very good fit but I am going to glue it in place soon as has fallen out once or twice the past few months.
When the car is turned off the tablet runs on its own battery but the screen will only light up when it is receiving power/ignition turned on, to do this I went into developer options as shown in the video and changed the setting so that the screen always stay lit when charging !! This is pretty essential to do as you want to tablet screen on all the time while you are driving, and want it to turn off when not driving/ignition off. Should be explained in the video if your unsure :)
Since the radio itself is in the glove box it might be tricky to control radio via the tablet; one guy I saw (been really digging deep on this subject) had a USB-to radio antenna adapter and a hub for thumb drives and alternate inputs including radio. Yes, you would need to hotspot to use internet radio or Google Maps, but the whole point of this tablet thing is that you want to listen to your own preset stuff instead of random low-quality stuff on the radio. If you really like certain songs and are going for a setup like this, you can just download them. And sure, it's technically illegal, but when you play a song on Spotify the artist only gets 0.0029 cents, which is basically nothing. To rip audio from RUclips, try ytmp3.cc. It's clean, reasonably efficient, and doesn't have any ads (as long as you give it a hard NO whenever it asks you to show notifications-- that's the only scammy part).
I have a couple of questions. 1. Can you no longer use your stereo? *I'd still like to use some of the features 2. This was the simplest demo I've seen, it's also the only one that kept the stereo, is that why you didn't need an amp?
Well I'm not the one who made the video (sorry) but yes, the stereo contains the amp still, and that's why another is not required. It's exactly the same as plugging your phone's headphone jack into an aux cable and that into the stereo and setting your phone in the drink holder like a boring person. Audio comes from the phone/tablet, goes through the aux cord to the headphone jack on the stereo, and is simply amplified and distributed by your stereo (whether it be in the dash or the glove box). Your stereo still works fine, and you can probably adjust the mix on there if it has that feature-- you just have to get to it first and resign yourself to only tweaking it when you're parked/ at home/ bored. CDs-- sure, if you want to be that guy with a CD player in his glove box. But come on, you can get a decent size MicroSD card for like $20 and load all your stuff onto there and stick it in your tablet-- or use Google Drive or something if you want it synched or don't have a card reader. Removing the stereo adds a ton of complexity; this setup is the most straightforward I've seen in all this searching, and accounts for pretty much all the things. Amp? Built into the stereo. Adapters? The stereo has all the less standard connectors still plugged into it, so no mysterious eBay searches required. Speaker array detection and distribution? Stereo takes care of that. The only problem is, this guy's glove box is huge, and mine isn't. Need somewhere else to stick the old radio.

If youre really worried you can just take it out over the weekend if you dont have a garage, or drape a blanket over it. Also if your A/C has a separate channel for the back seat that you don't use you can try setting that to cold and blowing it straight behind the tablet if it's getting stressed.
So what happens if the power to the tablet completely dies and needs charged. Once charged how would you turn it back on without removing it to get to the power button?
It goes into sleep mode once not getting power from the car (when ignition is on) so unlikely yo die, but even if I didn't drive car for months and it did die once it gets power it will turn on itself
@@AndrewRegan1219 You answered: it gets power it will turn on itself. Yes, but the tablet would need to go thru a typical boot process, so it's not immediate that you'll have full use of the tablet once the car is started. You might have driven three blocks before the tablet is ready. Yes/no?

Real cool stuff man.
wow,infotainment unit.nice connection
Sunlight and car temperature will damage this tablet. What about that?
You are absolutely right special where I live in June and July reach 50+ :( unless I keep air condition all the time on hahahaha
If youre really worried you can just take it out over the weekend if you dont have a garage, or drape a blanket over it. Also if your A/C has a separate channel for the back seat that you don't use you can try setting that to cold and blowing it straight behind the tablet if it's getting stressed.
@@mirmarq429 ok thanks!
9:05 looks like someone forgot to put the handbrake on lol
Hahahahah ! I only noticed that now, How did you spot that ?
idk lol
why not cut the back of the glove box out and mount the radio in controls facing out two lL brackets will hod the radio
your steering wheel is at wrong side!!! how can you drive like that??
Its the correct side haha
U R fentttttttaaaaaastikkkkkk , mate ..... Cheers Buddy ... Except for the horrible music in the background , ( any music Not required )
How can I connect my mobile in from my pocket to get all notification like sms, whatsapp message, call etc...plz reply.. thanks
Just get the pioneer app radio with lightning cable
Whats the on screen volume app called? I cant find it on play store
So what happens if the power to the tablet completely dies and needs charged. Once charged how would you turn it back on without removing it to get to the power button?
It goes into sleep mode once not getting power from the car (when ignition is on) so unlikely yo die, but even if I didn't drive car for months and it did die once it gets power it will turn on itself
the acrylic piece I made is also removal just fits in nice and snug so can be removed if I need to get at the tablet !
@@AndrewRegan1219 You answered: it gets power it will turn on itself.
Yes, but the tablet would need to go thru a typical boot process, so it's not immediate that you'll have full use of the tablet once the car is started. You might have driven three blocks before the tablet is ready. Yes/no?
The tabet has a battery so is always turned on no need for it to boot up, charges back to 100% when car being driven
Looks good! Clean 💪🏻
Cool! I need to see if there is a customised libreELEC distro and do this. Kodi as a media center would be good. Just need Open Street Maps also!
Do you have an A2DP solution with your set up?
Whats a2dp ? Haha
@@AndrewRegan1219 Bluetooth A2DP enables a device such as a smartphone to connect wirelessly to a Bluetooth stereo headset and transmit music or other audio, as from a video.
Can’t believe that someone would fit a tablet that’s worth more than the car
Lol 50 euro tablet 40 euro car
What’s the volume button app
not sure of the name, don't have tablet in the car anymore but search for volume app and look for logo that loops similar!
best played at .75 speed so can understand speech.. otherwise good video
Nice made, can it also charge? and take it out?
Ye always gets power from the usb cable, and ye depeding on the frame can come out easily
Thanks man,
What about reverse camera display on reversing...?
I never tried anything like that but imagine it could be done easy enough using an app on the google play store
Whenever using a dremel tool ALWAYS wear eye protection, you could save one of your eyes!.

Typical proper man no sense of colours at all, red and blue together what a stylish combination:) but like for trying:)
Haha the blue has since been removed!
What’s the app volume name ?
Dont have the tablet anymore so not sure! Just look up on screen volume control on google you might find the app
very good
Thanks!
just a note,, fuck all this shit! haha,,, just get a FM transmitter (plugs in your 12 volt cigi lighter socket) that you can bluetooth it to ur ph or tablet, and turn on what ever stereo you have in ya car then find the FM transmitter signal on your cars stereo and BAM !!!!!!! listen from yr Tab or Ph on ur normal car stereo speakers!! wweeEEEEEEEEEeee! ;)
Ive had them before but quality was pretty shit thatd why i went with the ipad :)
Well done bro
U should install app launcher
ill try it !
Why not just get an android head unit plenty on the market bud, but still a great video if you are doing customizing like this
this was a lot cheaper! I have since upgraded to an android headunit :)
@@AndrewRegan1219 lol I recently got an android head unit myself pretty smooth so far but either way like I said I loved the ingenuity how you did the custom dash kit👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Some cars thus is easier than replacing the radio
is there how to make the tablet by calling me to pick up on it
Dont understand what yout asking
Learn English and then go play in traffic.
If you mean taking phone calls with the car audio, that would still be done through the actual radio, or through the Bluetooth of your phone to the tablet. There's almost certainly apps that let you configure Bluetooth audio passthrough for calls with another Android device, if it somehow isn't baked-in already. But you have to have a tablet or stereo with bluetooth for it to work at all.
thanks
Ok. So. Can you hook a amplifier to it? Good question hah. Why do this?
Hooking an amplifier in means you can put the amplifier under a seat as they are usually more compact and come with wiring with allows them to sit in different locations. I didnt use an amp as i wanted to do it as cheap as possible
@@AndrewRegan1219 lol. No. I'm asking can you hook a amplifier to it and if so, how many?
@@scottmcbride2237 I have 4 amp hooked up to my tablet directly connected thru a dsp..it's seamless I have even have a knob for volume control and bass control . I have 8 10 inch woofers and 12 other speakers. Mids and tweets all connected and run up front
cool👍👍👍👍
come do mine please!!! I like that idea!!!!!
I'm planning on doing something like this in my 2017 journey that little 4.3 radio is ass
No demo?
Cant play music or ill get copy right strike, and tablets are easy to use ? I showed they layout of the screen ect nothing else to show
@@AndrewRegan1219 You can play NCS- music no copyright ..
Ahh ye i know but nothing i could play of spotify which i had on the tablet sod didnt see the need!
@@AndrewRegan1219 no need for spotify, just type ncs youtube or google simple but anyway thank you for reply
Why not just buy a andriod car stereo
can't buy them cheap where im from so this was the cheapest option, I have recently swapped over to an android headunit since tho!
Super g
2din radio puno jednostavnije ui bolje riješenje
how incredibly annoying ! why not give a link to the on screen volume app you used ? there are hundreds of these in the app store which one is suitable ? do I have to install and uninstall a dozen to find one that will work as a permanent on scree volume control
Get a proper head unit. iPad is outdated now. Check out my installation in a Dodge caliber
