      If you connect it to a usb c hub then I can’t see why I wouldn’t be able to connect to those things. I’m not sure if the Android OS limits multiple connections in any way 🤔

    Question - How "plug n play" is this after the initial setup? Everytime you get in the car, do you have to enable all these Wifi connections., etc., etc., etc., or will things just automatically connect? I added bluetooth audio to my car and even that is annoying when I get into my car as each / every time I have to reconnect the phone to the bluetooth. Also, does this approach have any capability for backup/side cameras? Any provider that sells wireless cameras w/ android app?

    • @CarPlayLife
      @CarPlayLife  23 дня назад

      I’d say it could be better. It all depends on the two connecting tablet and mobile devices. There’s a setting in the HUR app that is meant to detect the nearby BT of the mobile and auto start the app and initialise the connections but in practice it didn’t work well for me. It’s no going to beat an internal built-in system. You’ll still need to power on the tablet or touch to wake it up, fire up the HUL if it’s not running already, and then make sure both are connected over WiFi before AAuto kicks in.
      I’m not sure of any backup cam apps or support in this field. One to google I think to find that out.

      @@CarPlayLife What about just using the tablet w/ mobile internet directly? If it's a full blown tablet, it should have everything you need anyway. I guess the trick then is you need a good UI to make it look like a vehicle interface?
      Not sure if an app exists for that, but if not, could be something interesting, especially if you build some OBD-II support in there.
      I wonder if anything exists or a framework that you can start from?

    • @CarPlayLife
      @CarPlayLife  17 дней назад

      I'm sure some launchers for Android might help with the UI side of things. Maybe something like carwebguru could work like that.
      This HUR method just makes it easier to seamlessly carry over streaming accounts etc., than be logged also onto a second device, which could be pinched with all your accounts on it. Acting like a slave device minimises risk and smooths out account connection - if it works right.

    Hi. What if you don’t have a sim in your tablet? Can you run it vice versa I.e. tether the tablet to my phone or does it have to be on tablet?

    • @CarPlayLife
      @CarPlayLife  26 дней назад

      You can do it the other way, if you phone supports it. My google pixel didn’t like it the other ways, once connected to the tablet over WiFi it tired to use the tablet WiFi connection for data and not the sim card that’s in the pixel, so streaming apps like Spotify didn’t work.

    Can the headunit reloaded app autolaunch when connecting a phone with a wired connection or do i have to launch the app manually every time? Im using a cheap android head unit in my car.

    • @CarPlayLife
      @CarPlayLife  2 месяца назад

      Good question. I wanted touch on this in the video but I ran out of time and it was harder to get it to work each time.
      So in the WiFi launcher app there is a section in settings that you can tell to launch the app when your phone connects to a BT source. This could be the car BT for audio. So when you connect to the car BT the app launches and if you have the service always running (this is also an option in settings) it should connect to HUR.
      On the head unit you should have an option in Android OS settings to auto launch an app. Select HUR app and it will auto start each time you fire up the system and along with the WiFi launcher app it should both talk and sync with each other. That’s the idea anyway, in practice it’s a bit hit and miss. I found removing BT and WIFI profiles that might auto connect when near home helps simplify connections between devices.
      Hope this helps

    • @CarPlayLife
      @CarPlayLife  2 месяца назад

      What I would look for is a vertical lifting mount attached to the top of the dashboard and have it hang down over the main display. Then you can lift it up to access the display and should hang with enough of a gap to reach under the arm to get to the hazard button.
      Or dash mount it above with a narrower display,

      I tried a few left over from reviews and I found this one to hold the best www.carplaylife.com/review/avolare-magnetic-air-vent-car-phone-mount-review/ there may be better options out there. The issue is vibrations from travel and a magnetic mount slipping down over time. You almost needs a rest below the tablet to stop it from sliding down with each bump in the road. This is less of an issue if the tablet is super light but this one was around 500grams.

      You won't need headunit reloaded if you're installing or running android auto directly on the tablet. The reason for using your phone and headunit reloaded is to connect your android to the tablet and run android auto to the tablet with all apps, accounts and internet that's tied on the phone, so less need to sync or sign into accounts on the tablet that would be running AAuto directly on it.
