Thanks a lot for making this video. Very clear instructions. Hats off. I tried this in my old Honor 9 lite, a 10 year old phone, so I have to customise a few things. I followed all the steps but somehow the wifi in my navigation phone(honor 9 lite) doesn't start automatically. Guess its the phone software. It would connect immediately when I open the Wifi options, so one more step for me to start the app. Next thing I saw in the green screen when android auto started. After few trial and errors, found that hardware acceleration withing the app setting had to be disabled, because my phone didn't support it. Android auto finally worked. I have to adjust the pixel density to 250 in order to get a optimised UI interaction within the App. Probably these steps can help someone who face the same problem as mine. Once again thanks a lot for your time and effort to make this video.

A suggestion is that this navigation phone can also be used as a dash cam for you but you need to source out a dashcam app to do so.
@@Mongoose55babe yes you can use it and I have tried.. you have apps in play store such as "autoboy dashcam" which offer dashcam capabilities and run in background.. but the problem is going to be vibrations.. the phones ois/eis will make the video look like the phone had magic mushrooms while shooting it 😅

It's working really, I'm using a realme smartphone so that's not working on that after I realised that realme UI doesn't have orientation lock so headunit app not works. So I installed orientation Lock app from playstore an surprisingly its working smoothly.

Good effort in explaining this functionality. Correct me if wrong. The host phone and client phone can be connected using wifi hotspot and you can use google maps directly on it.
Also, any music app can be used by connecting to BT on the client phone.
Why take all this hastle to install apps, fo settings etc.
@@maverickriderJB Thanks for asking this question.. Yes it in deed does seem that its simpler that way but using android auto has its own perks, especially if you are a motorcyclist.
Also the main audience I intended are for motorcycles who are planning to buy an android auto head unit like chigee or aoicee just for android auto.. a 5$ app is cheaper an 200$ device which cannot be removed from your motorcycle.
1) you can directly access most of the functionalities of your phone without having to take it off your pocket/bagpack. It will make sense when your primary phone is a big brick like the s23 ultra 😅
2) somehow, when in android auto mode, the power usage by hotspot is much lesser.. I seen a 30 % drop in battery for 6 hours compared to 70% drop in hot spot method.
3) the layout is suited to access only driving necessary apps faster. Which means much less distractions from other apps. Now one might argue saying I can throw in the DND mode, HOWEVER, it also silences out the calls or other important notifications.
One may choose to use any method which they feel comfortable.
I prefer using this as it let's me access navigation, music, calls , sms and any other simple functions without having to take the phone out of my bagpack.

@@authenticlifeministries-br6751 android auto has restriction on the kind of apps you can use.. however there are forks of apps such as youtube that are made for android auto.. install that apk on your phone and android auto should let you use it..

Yes thats a fully feasible option.. however by using this mentod, you can avoid cost of additional sim, maintain another data package at extra cost. The main focus is to get the primary phone reflected on your android auto.. that means when u get calls , you dont need to pick the phone out of your pocket all the time..same goes for music .. 😊

Can I use hotspot from Navigation phone and connect my main phone to that hotspot?
I don't want to use hotspot on my main device as it will consume a lot a battery and will heat the device as well.

Hi Akshay I used this feature as explained in the video, everything works good expect Calls. I cant talk on the call when connected to android auto. It says Bluetooth not connected. But my navigation phone was connected on my Cars Bluetooth. even I tried on my Bluetooth headset there is no sound on calls.

@@AnandRajamaniIyer absolutely true.. you get aux to bluetooth converters, which will help you play songs..😊👍
I feel like a BT-FM transmitter is a better route so you can just use your primary phone and avoid the extra steps. The audio quality is not amazing, but I found a workaround since some phones support dual audio and can play through aux along with bt, if you want the best quality. You also get physical buttons to control tracks which was my biggest requirement. If you're buying it, i recommend portronics

Unfortunately no :( Android auto older versions are also time bombed to stop working.. my advise would be to use a Android 8 or higher custom rom and try it..

I have an issues with calls, i connected my bluetooth device to the old phone or android auto display phone as the music plays on it. But when i answer a call, it picks up on my primary phone. Is this some issue?

It works absolutely fine with google maps but waze opens and i can search and click on locations but does not show the route ,any idea how to fix this?
I am not sure about this.. il try to see if I can get to reproduce this with my setup.. until then try lowering the DPI in graphics settings to 200 or 150

Actually I am using a OnePlus 10T which is not compatible with the AR glasses. I installed the app called Nebula to connect it to my mobile. Not getting connected. They have shown a list of compatible mobiles.
How can I use any used phone which is not in the list to connect with it.

This setup will use data, and when I tried it the hotspot would shutdown to a predetermined amount of data not to exceed.

Yes it uses data just the way an actual android auto uses.. the thing is you dont need data on 2 phones, rather just one phone.. one way to reduce data is trying to use offline maps.. that way you can still use this set up and the maps will use offline data... but please note you may not get the live features

Thank you for your great video. It works perfectly on my Samsung galaxy tab but sometimes it closes the headunit reloaded app on the navigation phone while I am travelling & I have to start the process again. Do you think it is because I am losing coverage on my main phone?
.... Just an update. I was playing around with it today & found that if you close the launcher app, when you re-poen it, the headunit reloaded app immediately closes. That's the problem.
@@jb26599 yes . The head unit app closes to home screen if it detects the android auto connection no longer exists .. I would say, if yoh are using the set up, lock the launcher and head unit app in recent app settings to avoid accidental or systemic closure... this method helped me keep the process open and does not die if you clear apps.

My car player is aftermarket n it doesn't have android auto support but HUR helped me to get that facility. Moreover, the problem I was facing was just because of higher display pixel quality, reducing it has brought down the screen size n I got the chance to select the options. Initially I set to 350 and I could not see all the options but later I reduced it 150 n could see all the options during initial set up. Kindly add this thing in ur video n others may get help from this. Bdw ur video was of great help for me to set up for the first time.. thanks n keep up the good work😈

hi very good video i am from Argentine and i was finding a lot videos but yours is the best you go straight to the point. I tried to conect by wierlees my devices but was unsuccessfully perhaps you can help me. My main device is Motorola g60S android version 12 and the second for my motorcicle is samsung J7 2016 android version 8.1.0 , I loaded Headunit full version i followed the step but Motorola dont have hotspot it share diferently. please can you help me?
You can try this solution. Follow the Bluetooth pairing steps as shown in video. However make a small change in wifi connection method.
1) create a hotspot on the secondary phone and connect your primary phone to that hotspot through wifi.
2) open the Wifi Launcher on primary phone and select the Bluetooth device as shown in video. However , under "Wifi Connection Mode", select the the option "Wifi client mode".
3)In the secondary phone, open HUR app, go to settings-> connectivity->Wifi connection mode. Here select "Create Wifi Hotspot".
Follow with the process as shown in the video.
What we are doing here is, rather than primary phone creating the hot spot and secondary phone being the client to it, we are reversing it.
The process needs both phones to be connected , doesn't matter which creates the hot spot and which is the client.

I installed android auto on my android tab and it works fine. But I have a problem, I transfer the sound to my vehicle with aux. When I make a phone call via the tab, I cannot transfer the sound to my car's speakers. How can I do this?
You can buy a 3.5 mm Bluetooth audio adapter for the car...it converts your audio system from wired to wireless.. then you can proceed with the regular instructions in video

@@muratakcay597 TBH I haven't tried the cable method to car..it should work.. I lack access to a car who is using an aux input.. ones that use it, use a Bluetooth adapter to convert aux to Bluetooth.. If you can try the combo and post your finding here, that would help us all 😊

I am unable to control Google Maps or any other map application from the head unit. I need to set my destination from my primary phone for it to work, but even then, I cannot move the map screen. Is there any solution for this issue?
For the maps freeze options, In the setting there is Gps option. Try tondisable fake GPS speed option and try again.
Personally I haven't tried other maps option on android auto butnil give it a try this weekend and let u know.
As for the keyboard issue, I am not sure what the problem might be as its working fine for me while running HUR for both TAB and Phone. I do get the keyboard fine in both. However try to change the DPI in display and try again.

@@mashudahmed761 Go to settings ->graphics , you will find pixel density option there. Reduce it in step wise manner.. lesser the value, to reduce spacing and component size to fit it perfectly on the display. Don't reduce it to small numbers directly.. it might become unusable.. start from 350 and go in a stepwise manner till you find right pixel density

Hi bro I'm really struggling to connect the device together I followed all the steps exactly you said but after starting the wifi service manually the other phone is not going in navigation mode please help 😢
Thats weird.. can you please can try below steps and tell me if it works 😊?.
1) go to your head unit phone and forget all other wifi networks and can connect only to hotspot of your primary phone.
2) Close both the apps on noth phones. Force stop them if you can ,which is even better.
3) turn on the wifi hotspot on your primary phone and connect the head unit phone.
4) now open both the apps the apps on both phones (head unit first and then Wifi launcher) and ensure the bluetooth device selection is set to head unit phone and wifi connection modes are set as shown in video.
4) click on start wifi service manually. It should start.

Hi, it works with old auto media devices with android 6?
I havent tested it on Android 6, but you can try it and let us know if it works.. As per googles documentation for Android Auto, its android auto is supported from Android 6 and above 😊

Just uninstall all unwanted apps in the mobile using Android debloater and just install maps alone ..

If both handset has Android CarPlay install then is it going to be problem
It should not be a problem. Both handsets can have android auto.. however you cannot do this on an apple phone.
So in a car. Can the head unit send the audio to the standard car BT radio? So I use my phone to link the network and applications to the head unit. Which then plays all sound through the car stereo? Second question is which microphone is used for calls? And at last will it become annoying to every time starting up the head unit and unlock for security reasons?
You can connnect any bluetooth audio to the head unit. If it is capable of taking calls and playing music, the head unit will forward the calls / music to it.
Theroreticall, the bluetooth audio device mic and speakers should be used.I havent tried in a car , however in a motorcycle, i have used it with a senaa and it worked flawlessly.
The security considerations of permissions is true for all apps and not just for this app. I do it because , if you do not rewoke, it never know what its reading off your screen since we have given it unrestricted battery and overlay permissions. So yes to give all permissions is something you will have to do before you ride off. Howe er u may choose to keep it on if you dont have sensitive data on phone and do not use it for monetary transactions etc. I have faith in the developer not being malicious and google vetting the apps properly. But in an era of ever rising cyber incidents, its a hassle i can live with 😇

If you are using Head Unit Reloaded in this phone, yes it will get hot. If Using Wifi Launcher. It shouldnt get that hot.

Thanks buddy! Was able to follow your tutorial all the way to the end and get this running. But when I start navigation on Google maps in the 2 wheeler mode it refuses to show the map screen and an error message pops up asking me to restart the navigation in the "car mode"

Apparently android auto is designed to work only on cars and not other modes.. to check this I tried the two wheeler mode in my in car android auto and it had the same error.. so i belive this is some restriction from google

@@alejandroayala3206 I tried running the app on android 7 and had trouble with it.. I wouldn't recommend using anything older than android oreo as it is also miniandroid version to run android auto

After few retries understood the issue. Was using old version of HUR. Updated that and followed steps. It works fine now..

Works like a charm. Only challenge I am facing is the inability of calls getting routed to my bluetooth intercom. Music plays fine, just calls don't get routed. I am at my wits end. Anything you can suggest to fix this?

@SouvikSays the way it works in this setup is , you need to connect your headset/bluetooth speakers to the main phone.. and then when you recieve a call or play music, it will route it through the main phone to your audio device.. however you will be able to diale and revieve on the HUD phone ... hope this helps
When I receive a call from my old phone, the audio comes from the main phone. Music works alright, it plays on the old phone.

Unfortunately there is no Wifi launcher app for Apple devices. Hence i dont think it will work.
