These are some really cool effects youve set up here. Id be very interested in a video where you go through and show the parameters (in particular the h9) that are being adjusted w through the sweep. Thanks for some wicked cool ideas!!
@@ZacharyRizer Thanks, I just about to order ES-5 because of space on pedalboard and I want to control Future Impact, Moog MF101 and Red Panda Tensor.. is that even possible with one EXP pedal, or I need SA Reflex to do that?
As always, incredible. You have so much fun with these things. How does the mini expression feel under foot? Really interested in the volume and expression
Hi Zackary, this is a great video! I just wanted to say thank you for your inspiration! I was wondering if you seen the Sonuus Voluum pedal? I'm not sure many make their way over the pond, it's made by a guy in Scotland, UK. But it's a Midi enabled analogue Volume, compressor and tremolo pedal. It's quite little large, but the various effects and controls can be controlled independently via midi PC and CC. In some ways it's a bit like the Reflex, but in other ways it's completely different. I think it's the only midi compressor that I've seen so far. It's an interesting pedal for sure!
Have you tried the Moog EP-2 (or 3)? How do they compare to the DOD Mini? I'm considering a Moog, but if the DOD does the same job with using less space, i'll buy that one
Hey bro! That was some amazing synth bass!! I'm wondering if you have a video showing how to set up the expression pedal sending to different devices? I have an H9, Empress Reverb, Boss DD500 that I want to control all through one expression pedal. I also use the ES-8. Thanks bro!
Hi Zack, I've been very inspired by your channel and recently bought a Boss ES-5. I wonder if you can help me? I'm trying to send Midi expression to my H9. Firstly, this expression pedal i'm using works fine on the H9 if connected directly. But when I plug it into my ES-5 (same user interface as your ES-8) I get some odd behaviour. I have the EXP In function set to OFF and I have Assign 1 set to SW:on / SCR: Exp / Cate: Midi / Ch 2 / CC#:80 / Min: 0 / Max: 127 / Act L: 0 / Act H :127. And I have a Midi Expression CC# set to 80 as well. So...every thing should be fine. But the when I sweep on the pedal nothing happens until I max out the sweet and then it returns back down to 0 value without my doing anything on the pedal. If I set up a simulular setting on my mobius and with concurrent settings on my Boss ES-5 I have the same problem. It seems to be treating my expression as a common switch to pushes momentarily to max but then drops back to 0. Have I missed anything here? I see from your videos that you are directly controlling various midi devices with just one analogue pedal plugged into Exp in, controlling the parameters of multiple pedals via CC#...so I know this function can work! Blessings! Gareth
Aha! I looked at the schematic of a Boss EV5 and took apart my expression pedal (which looks like a Boss clone). The tip and ring were wired the wrong way around on my pedal. So a quick re-solder and it's working like a charm! Midi Expression outputted per patch to 4 different midi pedals with specific values dependant on which patch is assigned. I'm a happy bunny :D
Can i use a dual expression pedal for two different pedals; or one channel for total pedal volume control. the manual on the es-8 has two exp in; two outs plug 4 control. NOT CLEAR IF the cv outs and exp out is dedicated to what its plugged into ! Why not have expression inputs be assigned to the different pedals that support exp. pedals; but fed thru the es-8 rather than the exp input on each specific pedal. the exp pedal does different thinks to my pitchfork vs tremelo box, perhaps a volume control. But the ES-8 does not seem to have that now; only two exp out; vs being able to supply Qty-8; outputs if you had 8 pedals to support that. OK. next version of the ES--8A !! You Could feed thru to control all 8 pedals ( then software editable) or add 8 Exp/cv cabled outputs. Then.... go one step beyond to pass thru your expression pedals if you have two es-5,8's in series. Then can be programmed via the editor to be usable on the 2nd pedal board in line
The es-8 only has 2 expression outs but it seems like you have more control than just 2. Which pedals are being controlled by midi cc and what by the analog exp out and do you notice stepping with the midi cc.
zach, can one use a single expression pedal to control various pedals via midi using the es-8? in other words, if i were using a single expression pedal hooked up to an es-8, could i control my h9, timeline, mobius and big sky simultaneously? does the es-8 convert the cv from an expression pedal into midi cc the way a disaster area midi controller does? thank you in advance!
wow, time to update my pedals ! Is there a more cost effective way to use 1 expression pedals for say 2-3 pedals? planning to use it for a fmeron, xerograph mobius...Thanks again Zach

I was looking for a video review of the DOD mini EP, and there's nothing out there, so I really appreciate your comments about it. Very good video.
That beginning 😩😍
Clever use of the HOG2 to turn it into a volume pedal, exactly what I did with the SB2 Orbital Modulator.
How do you like the DOD mini? And have you tried the Mooer Expline?
These videos are the bomb man! 17:30 is awesome, thanks for putting this together!
Dude, incredibly inspiring. Definitely gonna experiment with this in the near future!
Hi Zach, thanks for this! Any updated advice/suggestions for expression pedals? Are you still using these?
Have you had any issues with the DOD Mini? I'm thinking about getting one but some reviews mention reliability issues.
Zack could you do all that with just DOD pedal plugged into ES-8? Or it has to be Mission Engineering.... thanks

Thanks, Zach. That was fast. I have a Randys Revenge on the way thanks to you. Thanks!
Any update on the feel of the expression pedal (DOD mini)? Thanks
amazing sounds zack! can you share the h9 presets please?

Run the expression pedal through the ES-8. Then you can control all those pedals via MIDI.

Any particular reason you don’t have the Source Audio Reflex anymore?

Thank you for the response and thanks for the inspiration. Your demos have really helped shaped my pedal board design. Peace.
It would be awesome to hear you cover some of the Meris stuff ( ottobit jr and Polymoon). Any interest in these pedals?
The Polymoon is rad dude. Amazing on bass I've been loving it. Best digital delay I've ever played
Ottobit is like, my secret weapon for synth bass. That lowpass filter is worth the price of admission alone
Can you program a loop on the es8 to work with a pedal's effects loop?
Boss ev30 has two expression outs

very cool, *head explodes*. Must look into this
how come you didn't show the reflex?
.... В космос Його!!...І то терміново!!!!😳😳😳
Zach, you do have a wah pedal. It's in your Mobius.
