Greatest 2nd baseman of all time. I grew up watching him play while playing in select leagues as a second baseman with the number 4 also (I had a different reason for the 4 and I was pretty good but I wasn't great) definitely my favorite baseball player ever. I was so sad when they traded him and Frazier. I'm gonna be mad if he don't get hall of fame.
Brandon Phillips was the last thing my dad and I talked about before he passed. I found him an hour after we talked about Brandon. We loved watching Brandon Phillips. It's good to see the Reds winning again.
It is hard to describe articulately but the best I can say is that he was an artist in the field. Haven’t seen anyone play defense with the same level of creativity.
@@snagnt5586 keeping this conversation active. We could be the Miracle Mets! But in all seriousness; since the trade deadline, the ballclub looks good. Just need that pitching we had in 2012
I'm mostly a braves fan. But the reds are my second favorite team cause the double a affiliate is in my town. I had fun watching this guy for both teams. Always smiling and clearly enjoys the game
We are SO proud if you bp! Always giving your best ALWAYS😘😘😘💞💞💞💞 miss u in the Braves uniform but will ALWAYS cheer for you!!! Im sure you'll get love in Bean town too praying for a great transition, injury free safe season for u & the team 👏👏👏
@4:37 I never played pro ball, but goofed around plenty with behind the back & through the leg tosses; even nailed an over the shoulder more than once. But I never made a 30’ out from the prone position. 😮
I'm not saying the Reds treated Brandon Phillips poorly, but I never felt like they really appreciated him. Every night you went to the park you knew you were going to see him do something special defensively. When you saw him play in person it was something different But what gets me is what he did offensively. Put him at the top of the lineup, he'd get on base. Bat'em clean up' he'd drive in 100 runs. AND HE NEVER COMPLAINED ABOUT IT ONCE! I guess I'm not telling anyone anything they don't already know, but I just feel like the Reds could have done more to keep him a Red for his entire career besides try and trade him every year. Also, and I get it's a long comment, but look at BP's #'s in the playoffs. Compare them to the guy they made sure to lock up. How nice was Phillip's when it came to talking w/ fans. I know I'm going to get flak for this, but how many times have any of you that frequent GABP seen Votto toss a kid a ball?
Brandon Phillips is a fan favorite in Cincinnati. He was up there with Votto level fandom when he was with the Reds. He could do everything and was always electric to watch, but I would like to know where you got that e Reds tried to trade him multiple times. I never heard that and would like to read. It is my understanding that he was considered a near franchise player until he got a bit older. With that being said, miss watching the guy play regardless of the jersey he’s wearing. Haven’t seen a player like him since he was outside of the MLB.
His prime as a second baseman is one of the best ever. Jeff Kent and Robby Alomar might have him beat, but man this dude was 5 tool when he was at his best. Dang near a hall of famer in my book.
Aaeon Karma that's not true but the reds do suck especially after they traded him. They lost a lot of fans when they did that, tickets are cheap stadium is empty.
the greatest 2B I have ever seen. His improvisation on the field was on another level. You won't see another one like this for a long time.
2:44 might be the best play I've ever seen a 2B make and it was in a crucial situation during the game. A lot of 2B might struggle to get 1 out there.
@@Sabo-Metrics that play is my favorite in Baseball history and I would certainly say it was one of the best.
Did you only watch the reds
@@reedraibley9772 name a better defensive second baseman during Brandon’s peak
@@Bigunk-hc2ri Cano, chase utley, Dustin pedroia, Ian Kinsler
I sure miss watching Brandon Phillips make all those athletic plays at second base. He was worth the price of admission all by himself.
I remember watching every one of these moments live. BP was insane
Most underrated player ever best fielder I've ever seen if he had more arm strength he'd easily be the best ss fielder too
Man had the smoothest hands I’ve ever seen. Man’s level of swag was off the charts.

I LOVE Brandon P but there is no way he’ll make it to the hall of fame. Would love to see it though.
@@dadams7211 the thing that may hold him back is his batting average, his fielding was probably in the top 10 best
you're gonna be mad

Could you guys imagine dat dude with todays reds? An infield of Votto, BP, Elly and McClain would be must see every day
Brandon “are you kiddin me, wow!” Phillips

Man BP could ball. He always seemed like he was having so much fun. Moved through space with minimal waste.
Watching B. Phils in Cincinnati was a treasure. Dude is just an all around great guy. I hope he signs a contract for Cinci and retires
Stephen Beaudion looking back on this team we traded everyone I mean it’s like we wanted to lose

One of the best second basemen in my lifetime. He made plays that look hard to others, he made it look sooooo easy.

My all time favorite athlete. Dat Dude made my childhood :)
He really got Baseball IQ especially in defense
Of all the great 2nd basemen, Brandon's been my favorite to watch.
2:45. Greatest play EVER!
4:59 is also in that list
Love that the last highlight is him spoiling a no hitter haha
The fact that he is married to Jade Cargill is wild!
I had no clue until today that he is with Jade Cargill. Their kids are gonna be insane athletes.
0:51 Best grand slam I’ve never seen
The one he hit against the giants in 07 was better IMO

BOSTON BOUND!
Dude was a straight up vacuum cleaner with the glove or bare hand.
I caught a ball from this guy and still have it
SO WHERE DID BRANDON PHILLIPS 2B GET DRAFTED IN FANTASY BASEBALL BACK THEN??
To me, he should be in the HOF for his fielding alone.
welcome to boston
Itz_Ranger I'm so mad about that, I'm a reds fan (more like was) and I hate them for not signing him longer man.
5:24 Brock Lesnar theme?!? Hahaha
Easily my favorite Red in my lifetime anyhow.
BP had a _h u g e_ home run for the Red Sox. i was hoping it would be included here.
Just called up!
I heard Brandon belongs in Georgia. Go Braves. Fight like a Brave! Moneyball at 5:25
william werber nah, BP will forever and always be a Red
Henry Jackson we all wish
swing is like soriano's

DatDude indeed
Every time they show a score the Reds are tied or losing.
Funny cause thats not even true
I mean they suck but, 7:14, 7:21
