@@lemongaming152 oh nah I'm referencing early crow lore. Guardians across the last city killed him brutally upon seeing the face behind the mask. Im so glad I main a Hunter. During one of the missions in TFS where Crow, Cayde, and Yourself are together. Crow says something along the lines of "the 3 best Hunters are on it" or some such. Then, after the scene in the Short, Cayde says something along the lines of how your character dodges a bullet by not having to be the Vanguard. Good stuff.
Just as a reminder for people but the vanguard dare is set by either the current hunter vanguard or any hunter who wishes to take or gamble the position. Cayde became vanguard because him and Andal (i think that’s how you spell it) made a bet on who could kill Taniks and cayde won making Andal the new hunter vanguard but taniks came back and killed Andal and Cayde took the position because he had technically lost at that point. Cayde in his will said that his cloak (the vanguard dare cloak that both Andal and Cayde wore and we have as an eververse item) and his gun (ace) and the position of hunter vanguard would all be given to the hunter that kills him. So after Cayde’s death uldren/crow would be the new vanguard since they had become a hunter post death. That was a bit of a lore dump but that is pretty much all the background to clear up why there isn’t a different hunter vanguard because of all the people that had killed uldren/crow
The reason why there was no other hunter Vanguard is simply because no one wanted the position. As Cayde said, dare is not a law. Cayde even mentions that we did good job in dodging Vanguard position.

To clear up any misconceptions, just like cause said the dare isn’t law. The vanguard dare is more so an inside “joke” with hunters. I think we all saw this eventually happening. But it was nice to have Cayde back to personally pass the burden of leadership to Crow. A burden I'm sure he will carry with pride and will do a good job of it.
It's funny how at the end of that interaction, if you're playing as a hunter, Cayde will tell you congratulations on avoiding being appointed the next hunter vanguard. So our hunter would be the next vanguard if we actually wanted the position.
I dunno how I feel about crow getting the role. I feel like WE as the guardian OR Petra should get it. We killed Uldren together, albeit for different reasons.
You WANT to stand in the tower all day doing admin? The Vanguard Dare is only applicable to Hunters because the very fact that they are Hunters means they don’t want to be constrained to the tower 99% of the time. It’s a punishment, or at least it’s supposed to be, as Cayde grew to enjoy it; his final words in Forsaken were ‘Tell Zavala and Ikora, they were the best bet I ever lost’.
Technically the vanguard dare was something set up by Cayde that whoever killed him would become Hunter Vanguard. This does mean that Uldren was Hunter Vanguard however, the vanguard dare was not a set in stone tradition with the same rules everytime. Each hunter vanguard was not chosen through blood but through bets. Cayde’s bet was whoever could kill him. The Hunter Vanguard before Cayde made a bet that whoever killed Taniks first wouldn’t have to be vanguard. Cayde lost this bet and became vanguard. This makes it so that since Uldren “won” Cayde’s bet he became Hunter Vanguard and had no dare of his own by the time we killed him. In short there were no rules on how to pick the next vanguard after Uldren’s death so Crow rightfully should be the Hunter Vanguard
As soon as I saw crow in that first season 12 cutscene, I made a prediction that they’d make him Hunter vanguard. 3 expansions later I was right. Everyone told me I was crazy. But look at me now!
Crow also just has the right temperament for being the hunter Vanguard. While Cayde will always be my favorite vanguard leader I think Crow is uniquely suited for this position and will fill the role better than any of his predecessors.

Technically if you’re playing a hunter and you played forsaken, you should’ve been the vanguard because uldren killed cayde then you killed uldren
.... this game looks enthralling =/
I would want one of the Bray sisters to be it. Elsie more since i want my Exo representation in the Vanguard, but you know. Needed another Awoken. Fuck the robot people.
wrong. Uldren killed cayde, so rightfully uldren would be hunter vanguard, yet hes dead and Crow isnt Uldren. Cayde told that to Crow is the last couple final shape mission. Yet the dare isnt law. Cayde went against his own words and CHOSE Crow as the hunter vanguard, then said "I dare ya", which was him making a new vanguard dare
Not a big lore guy i thought you had to beat cayde in a card game to get the position
It was actually extremley obvious thats crow was gonna be the next hunter vangaurd. Painfuly obvious. Also o despise grow. Bot any hetter as a gaurdian then he was as a whiney bratty princess
Why tf is Elsie even an option??
Ngl if you want the best story
Play as a hunter
I still dont think crow should be the damn hunter Vanguard. like oh it's great storytelling no it's really not. The person who murders one of your favorite characters is now replacing your favorite character Because he's seen the evil of his ways. Half the hunters and more still don't respect him and they could have picked literally anyone else. It couldve technically been eris, or shiro, micah 10 or even lady afrideet. Screw crow hes still a murderous heathen 😂
How *is* your sister?
Thr whole fucking expansion is a callback buddy
Warlock vanguard
Pouting chemo patient
Titan vanguard
Pouting manbaby with unresolved family.issued and good halo impressions
New to be hunter vanguard
Manbun man the prince of all sadness
Honestly he kind of cheated.
If Cayde trusts Crow to be Vanguard, then so do I.
Still hate crow and everything around him. I will not forgive him
Honestly, Crow might just be the absolute worst character for humter vanguard
