you guys are great. I'd love to see an interview style post about each of you...where you live, what you do for work, how you got into all these activities, etc
You guys are ANYTHING but mediocre, holy cow, what a season you've had! Christof, I can't believe you let Danny talk you into these sufferfests but I'm glad he does. Fantastic series guys!
Don't understand RUclips's algorithm: people doing nothing get millions of views and here y'all don't get that much. Keep it up though. From a huge fan.
That’s awesome that you can pull that off. It’s a tough day per that route to hike it. 12 hour day for my wife and I. Thanks for sharing this incredible day
Hey guys, I have a few recommendations for you as a Coloradan. Freeway on the second flatiron of Boulder, super cool easy class 5 scramble, could be done in just a few hours even when being super careful. Dead dog couloir on Torreys Peak, super fun snow climb, awesome steep 50+ degrees ski descent. South-North Arapaho Peak traverse, class 4 Lone Eagle Peak in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, class 4 Shit for brains couloir by Abasin, steep snow. Kieners Route on Longs Peak, 5.4, easy snow I think you guys are perfectly capable of doing any of those unroped, the only exception is a few very exposed sections on Kieners but it really depends on your comfort level and the conditions.
@@MediocreAmateur I live in Boulder and would be happy to take you up! The second is super manageable. It can be done easily in less than an hour. Or you can string together several and make it a fun day.
Third time watching this and still cheering Christoph on. “C’mon, Christoph! You got this!!!” I’ve been there. Funny how it’s like childbirth (so I hear) and you wake up the next day having forgotten how painful it was at the time. And then start looking for the next climb..
I rock climbed the needle a couple seasons ago and man am I jealous of the exit you guys got on skis. That hike down to the car is a slog after 14 hours of being out.
Absolutely Amazing!!! Crazy Awesome.... Be Safe Out there Love watching these Videos I can't believe there's only 12K Subs just Not right should be Way More
Your adventures are totally effing awesome!!.. Hell of a job of manning up Christof!. It takes big balls to tackle a fourteener with whooping cough !!!!
I take complete responsibility for that. At the time I could not figure out why I was moving so slow, although I was dry-heave coughing the whole day. A trip to instacare a few days later finally got me a Pertussis diagnosis (whooping cough, lol) so I can only assume my body was deep in a battle against infection. But I still live with the shame:)
@@cnuila shame? I'd say it's way more admirable to see someone have the brains to know when to turn back and not even caring about summiting for the sake of summiting. Besides, you guys bagged a 14er during like peak snowpack. I'd say that is so much more cool than hiking any ol' 14er. I can only hope to be half as good as you guys within a year or two.

Great stuff. The only thing I used to differently is, I would turn the truck around so it was ready to go. Too many times I have seen deep snow in Colorado when not expected.
Another great video. Gotta love out of season freshies. You guys remind me of me and a mate...I drag him along on my suffer fests, or what I call super forest adventure time. Give us a shout out if you ever want a guide in Australia
Nice work fellas! I've done that and it is indeed a burly day with that grind back over Broken Hand. Not to mention the effort it takes to film the outing. Tell me you went back to the hotel before driving back to Utah. Studly! I'm definitely cutting you some slack for not getting to the summit, (it's a sketchy bit) but you have to live with that one. Danny, you are ready for the Andies and the Himalaya. You better get after it or you'll be kicking yourself in 20 years.
When we attempted Blanca it was worse, and on Memorial Day no less. A French team were doing all three fourteeners - Blanca, Ellingwood, and Little Bear. We bailed - they were trapped on knife ridge between LB and Blanca and had to rapell off. They said it was heavier than the Eiger. Blanca is famous for sudden storms.
Well done again! Another great video and challenging trip! Did I mention when We skied back in March that the Crestones are two of my favorite Mountains? I hope you enjoyed them!
What a sick trip,, me and my buddies hiked Blanca and summited right next to the crestones! Wicked video. Love it. I posted a video of it too it’s my last one I put up... glad I found urs
A story to share...Several years ago, I was heading up the trail to climb Mount Missouri. On the way up, there were two men riding horses tugging two body bags. I asked the search and rescue workers what happened. They said, in the Spring, two backcountry skiers hiked up Mount Belford and skied down and were caught in an avalanche and died. Having worked on Vail Mountain for a couple of years, I know the crews that seek and detect vulnerable snow faces are experts. They test areas frequently. Unless you both are experts in detecting potential slides, I’d be very careful of your future adventures. You could end up like the two guys I saw. On a positive note, you guys are animals and I love the channel!
Feel like many years there is the semi-unexpected dump of snow during early May in CO.. definitely an eventuality to take into account when planning trips in CO during early May
Where can I get that black cap you're wearing at the beginning of the vid? Went to your store but couldn't find it. It's awesome. Love your videos and would like to support!
Incredible adventure Danny as always. Really makes me want to get into the ski mountaineering scene. Seems like a lovely way to shave off the miles on decent. Also diggin' the new cap, haven't seen that one before I don't think. You putting any up for sale that I've missed? Would love to support the channel while running the trails. Cheers!
How did you get avalanche safety training? I love canyoneering and downhill skiing so i have the rope and skiing skills necessary. However, the one thing holding me back from purchasing new bindings and skiing the backcountry is concerns about my lack of avalanche safety training. I don’t want to lead my friends to an icy death. Any recommendations on a training place would be awesome! Thanks for your videos, they are badass and extremely motivating!!!
I would suggest looking into the AIARE Avalanche Training Courses. You can take basic courses to start out and then work your way into a full Avalanche Safety Certification. There are courses all over the country (or you can travel and turn it into a "vacation"). avtraining.org/
+1 to Cody. There's a series of courses called "know before you go" that many avalanche centers are starting to run in different regions that will give you an introduction. I highly recommend at the least planning to get your Avalanche Level I certification.
I'm using the Dynafit Chugach 32 ruclips.net/video/oGIzvxwsHJQ/видео.html and Danny is using the Salomon X-Alp 30 ruclips.net/video/kkDiWuWp6F8/видео.html Both are excellent fast and light mountaineering backpacks, although we've found the upper strap of the on-the-fly ski carry on the salomon to be annoyingly fickle. Dynafit has their hook system dialed on all their packs. Good eye on the crampons. In my (mediocre) opinion, there's no reason to use anything else until you absolutely need steel. They are incredibly durable and reliable despite their feathery weight.
Danny and I went to high school together and we re-connected a few years back. In a weird coincidence, Blake's career started to make huge demands on his time at the same point that mine started to afford me a ton of time off and flexibility.
