I found the same thing. I recently bought a bass and assumed it would be just like playing the song on guitar but without the power chords. Little did I know there was all the jingling involved in the main riff and then a very different chorus as well 😅
@@sk_lxr2920 it’s going ok thanks. I actually find it more enjoyable to play than the guitar, maybe just because it’s new and different for me. I find the more complex songs difficult as making quick movements across the frets is so different from an electric guitar. Lithium and In Bloom are a lot of fun to play. I haven’t mastered songs like Lounge Act which I had a quick look at learning.... hopefully I can become good enough! Do you play bass?
@@bassacoustic1549 Good to hear that! Yeah, I play the bass too. Lithium is one of my favorites, it took me a long time to learn, I'm currently learning In Bloom
yea there’s so many little things krist adds into the songs that i never noticed until recently, i new about the little licks he does in the intro part but never noticed the high notes he hits in the chorus. i also never realized how absolutely sick the bassline in on a plain is. he really added to the band so much. a good bassist knows how to play extra stuff without being super distracting and krist does exactly that. he’s up there with the best bassists in my opinion.
This is my favorite use of bass in any song I've ever heard. It has this hypnotic tone of disappointment to it that clashes so hard with the soothing vocals that it feels like Kurt is f*cking with your mind somehow and giving hints that there is probably something more to the song than meets the eye, and that's exactly what both it and its music video are about.
You are a very precise bass player, when i was younger and newer to bass i always wondered why i dodnt hear you add fills for fun but now i understand that you are going for the most accurate tone and most accurate to the recording, well done man
Thanks for your awesome covers, I've been following your channel for a long time! What's your opinion on the last note in the first bar of the choruses, first around 1:07, the open E? Yes, it is clearly played on the original bassline (from the multitracks found online), but shouldn't that note _really_ be a D#? And yes, It would need half step lower tuning, but still, that open E just sounds so wrong.
Yeah, a D# is in the key of A# sung by Kurt, so that creates a 1/2 step. The E also creates a tritone between the next note, the A#, so thats why it sounds off. Very dissonant, maybe on purpose, maybe an accident. They probably just played what sounded good and didnt care about theory
Nice done, could you play something by Joy Divison "Digital" or "Twenty Four Hours" for example, Petter Hook is one of my fav bass players except you offcourse ;)
@@allygator616 so nice!♡ I get mine recently too and I'm learning it right now, it's the third sond I m learning and the hardest until now, but also the funniest! Self taught too but I got the help of a drummer and a lot of youtube videos like this one :)

Always loved this song, definitely one of Krist's best bass lines
this and lounge act.
and lithium
Easily one of the most underrated bassists of all time, he really got the short end of the stick being in a band with Kurt and Dave lol
@@lingus1382
Naaaah, he had a great time, and we still love em. 😊
Wish he was still with us brother.💔💔💔
Krist might be the most underrated bassist of the 90s🤘
It's like licking the magic sheet of paper and rediscovering the same song but with new notes that were always there... mind blown!

i love how such a simple bass line can sound so strong

The note isn't actually too egregious. It just makes the bassline lydian!
Звучание баса идеальное, для этой композиции. 💓
this tab rocks!!
So good
Thank you! More Nirvana tab
Gracias bro! Abrazo latinoamericano!
