  • This video covers some of the things I did when preparing to take my motorcycle home for the first time. Whether it's new or used it is definitely an experience and can range from difficulty depending on your location.

Bought my first motorcycle and rode it home yesterday. Was a pretty damn cool experience, did a few laps around a near by neighborhood before I hit the road and rode it an hour back home. Way better than renting a uhual truck.

I just bought a new 2024 Indian Scout Rogue Sixty … like you, I have ZERO experience on 2wheels outside of my bicycle.
I haven’t even taken my course yet. (I take mine end of July).
I do have some experience with clutch bc my first couple of cars were stick, but that was 20 years ago. The familiarity still remains though.
I had it delivered, and I’ve had it for 2 days now. I’ve been practicing with friction zone and walking the bike forwards/backwards but nothing faster than 5mph. I need to take it to the road to go fast enough to lift my feet and practice shifting, but I’m still scared sh!tle$$ … I still haven’t left my driveway. 😂
Like you said, at some point though I just have to do it.
Congrats on the bike & good luck!

That’s a beautiful bike. I really like Indian motorcycles. They are really sharp looking. Congratulations on it. Yea man you learn at your own pace and do what feels right. It’s pretty amazing how fast things start clicking with them. You go up the road and back and next thing you know you’re around the neighborhood.
Enjoy it dude. You only get your first motorcycle once lol.
And like you said you know car clutch so you get the idea. Honestly car is more difficult for me. Maybe because it’s in the hands idk

Good tip about a nearby parking lot. That's what I did too the first ever riding my new motorcycle ever back then along with tons of studying how to ride. Driving a stick shift car most of my life really helped understand gearing most of all. Is it possible to pass a MSF course without riding? After I got my M license, I took the MSF course and passed, but half is written, half is riding.

I don’t think. I’m pretty sure the msf requires bike time. But there could be other classes that don’t. That’s why I watch a lot of RUclips to try to expand. I love Canyon Chasers. They have really good videos about basic and advanced techniques. Real good content.

wow! this brings back memories for me. My dealership was on Route 30 as well (southeastern P.A) It was a Yamaha YZR 600. my brother and I went halves on it, yes, we shared a bike it worked out great because of our schedules. Six months later we each got are on bikes. I had the pleasure of having some dirt bikes growing up as a kid. I really like how you use the technology, and your ability👍 to pre ride the route before you got on the bike. Great job, and great video. 💪🦾

    • @CityNinja650

I needed to have it (full coverage ) before I took it home. I think you have to because there is a loan on the bike (if you didn’t buy it out right in cash). That’s how Pa is anyways. Different states could have different laws. But for me I had to have it before I could take it home.
