25 years ago, I got parenting tips directly from Ozzy. I was replacing the tstat on his bus on an after hours call late at night. Just as I was finishing the install my phone rang; it was the babysitter calling to tell me about my misbehaving 4 year old son. At the same time, Ozzy walked in after his show as I was instructing the babysitter. When I hung up, Ozzy just looked at me and said " Fuckin' kids!" Next thing, he's going on about Kelly, who had just turned 13 and was a handful. Ozzy went on about being there for them was most important and complimented me for being on top of it. Ahhh, good times...
Yes, Ozzy said he's surprised how many people think this song is about his Mom when it's really about Sharon. I hope you check out "No More Tears". One of my favourites as well.
"Mama, I'm Coming Home" is my favorite song by Ozzy Osbourne. The tonal modulation in the chorus (major key to parallel minor?) always gets me. It's so powerful, especially the second time around, when the music gets quiet just beforehand, which gives the chorus an even bigger impact when it begins.
Still haven't gotten to see him live. We had tickets years ago when he was touring with Rob Zombie, but if I remember correctly, Ozzy fell in the shower and broke his leg and the shows were cancelled. I was so bummed!
Saw him twice. In 1998 for the Black Sabbath reunion tour in Biloxi and in 2001 solo in New Orleans. His energy during a performance is insane, I've never seen anyone match his enthusiasm before or since!
You're correct. Mama is his nickname for his wife - I read somewhere, that he would call her daily when he was on tour and she is at home raising the kids.
@@Hippychic723 I was trying to recall her name, Sharon came to mind - pushing near 60 years old - my memory isn't what it used to be. I was sure that their girl's names were Amie and Kelly, but thinking their son's name was something like Zack - yet not 100% sure about that. But I trying to remember, but I seem to think that he was arrested in Russia for attempted murder of Sharon, his wife. It was also around this time that she stopped going on tour with him - this could have indicated a divorce on the horizon, but still remained that only God knows why. Ozzy went to rehab to dry out, but relapsed time and time again ... it was events like this that Ozzy was thankful that she took him back. Motley Crew was fired by the Ozzy camp after Vince (the lead singer) assaulted Sharon after a night of heavy drinking with Ozzy ... but neither Ozzy or Vince remembers it, the next day. I don't think that violence solves nothing, like my nephew and his girlfriend who had a child by him. She stabbed my nephew multiple times after going to bar, they were both charged ... but she was charged with criminal domestic abuse. If he had died, she would had her charges upgraded to murder. I try to leave out names to protect the child (their child) but my original response was that no way would I ever allow anybody to pull a pocket knife and stab me. But the police arrested both, which I believe was the correct and appropriate charges. They were both intoxicated, and both claimed self defense - he said and she said that the other hit the other first. No witnesses and no film footage outside the bar, but she drove him home ... he was planning to try to sleep it off. My sister's husband drove them to the hospital and my sister called the police who was waiting at the emergency entrance. She was facing ten years if found guilty, but due to the fact, that her paperwork wasn't been filed by trial date - both suspect's charges were dropped because they were tried together ... they couldn't have stopped her trial, yet preceded with his at the same. So, all they had legally, by trial date was "he said" and "she said" statements by each - and neither was forthcoming ...
Beautiful number from Ozzy, if you liked this 1 check out If I close my eyes forever, with Lita Ford. Talk about making you feel something this 1 most certainly will. Great Idea to just listening to the music, no video required, that's how We did it all the time back when.
My Man!!! You hit the nail on the head! He was absolutely talking about Sharon. I watched him talk about it in an interview once. He used to say that to her at the end of every tour.
Music is a beautiful thang. I have always believed to not close one's mind to music they don't know about. It's all beautiful. It can bring us together in way nothing else can. I like your office Jamel. Keep the videos coming!
I had a thought while listening to this song so I went to check my theory on google and it said that the term sunshine is a slang term for LSD. So I’m wondering if Ozzie meant that when he sang “ I don’t care about the sunshine,”? I could be wrong but it is just a thought. Love all your Reactions Jamel. Keep the goodness flowing!
Yes, they've been seperated at times. It really is amazing that they stayed together. At one point, in a drug induced psychosis, Ozzy tried to kill Sharon & nearly succeeded. The next day, in jail, he said he didn't remember doing it. She said they were sitting in their living room & he suddenly told her she had to die. She also said his eyes looked black & he started strangling her. She was terrified of him after that & it was a while before she let him come home. They've both talked publicly about the incident. And that's just one example of how low their lows really were. You'd think their relationship was doomed long ago. But here they are, still together & seemingly at peace with each other. Considering Ozzy's declining health, I'm glad for them.☮
Love it Ozzy has SOOO many hits just do them like this it works! Ozzy has SOOO many amazing hits BIG songs. Just pick them you won't be wrong GUARANTEED

Zakk Wylde playing that beautiful solo, and guitars… This was a mild one but perfect… Usually he shreds Blitzkrieg like and is multi-talented and super cool in person.. Awesome reaction brotha’!
Definitely for Sharon. I am sure living with an addicted Rock star was no walk in the park. Reminds me of what Dr. Phil said at the end of the Osborne TV show. "there is alot of love in this family". Have you reacted to Under the graveyard or Ordinary man? Both show Ozzys past beautifully.
Lenny from Motörhead wrote this song along with several others for Ozzy. Lenny often joked that he made more money from a few songs that he wrote for Ozzy than his entire career with Motörhead! LOL

Back in the 70s when a man and a woman we’re together but not married they called each other mama or Papa, that’s where the band name came from for the mamas and the Papas! It was a social thing from the 60’s Hippie era!
This song brings tears to my eyes. Every time I hear it, I keep envisioning myself coming home from Job Corps on valentine's day 2003, and finding out the worst news of my life, that my mom passed away in her sleep just 2 hours before I made it home. It just made this song so much harder to listen to. Even all these years later. And it hurts so much that I never had the chance to say goodbye.
