So many people in the 80s thought Ozzy & Black Sabbath were evil devil worshippers, but so many of their songs were anti-war & had deep meanings regarding people needing love. They just rocked so damn hard that "squares" wrote them off as evil without really listening to them. Of course, most of these same people now know at least the beginnings of these songs bc they are played at NFL/MLB/NBA games.

Rhoads had the smoothest guitar tone and slickest left / right hand coordination ever. I don't listen to Ozzy for his song, I listen to Randy's playing. Ozzy loved Randy and always seemed so proud of him on stage, like a father is to a son.
I watched that series that Ozzy and Jack ( his son ) did. They went to Iron Mountain ( it’s an information depository ) and the guys there had the master recording of Randy’s guitar track for “Crazy Train “! It was JUST the guitar! He was truly something next level and his passing was truly terrible.

Deep lyrics has always been apart of Ozzy, "War Pigs" is deep most important song ever recorded and "Fairies wear Boots" best musical riffs ever and another deep, deep song my all time favorite.

As a teenager I was dressed in my metal gear including an Ozzy jacket. THese (about 6 ) young crazy religious cult like assholes were talking to me in a store. THey kept looking at this ONE adult they were with who was maybe 20 feet away down an aisle. They were trying to convince me metal was the devil esp Ozzy. I was spewing out lyrics to counter their pathetic argument like the one you mentioned. THey were trying to say that was a lie and they are pretending to say that to trick us to become devil worshippers. They started to get closer and closer to me, and a few of them kept looking at the adult, until I was surrounded in a circle. They were already creepy but now I was scared I literally might get kidnapped I PUSHED two of them out of my way and ran the fuck out of the store.

Well, there was all that business singing about Satan from 1968 to 1978... the song Black Sabbath is still pretty dark.... and then theres the original draft of what would become War Pigs where he sings about throwing a priest into a fire... Although, you're not wrong; see, the two are not mutually exclusive.
I wouldn't go as far as calling him a "good dude", but Ozzy definitely changed a lot and plenty of his songs actually have pretty good messages. Actually a lot of the older metal/rock guys back then had the bad rep, but the good songs. Hell, Dio literally has a song about rainbows and the Karens of today would still call him a satanist.
At the beginning of the song, I love how Randy Rhoads makes the guitar screech like the metal on metal sound that a locomtoive's wheels make against the iron rails when it starts gaining momentum! Sweet!
This is a little aside Jack and Ozzie did a show where they went around the country and went to different places and they went into this mountain where they keep all these old masters and Ozzie listened to this and he hadn’t heard the original demo strip down since Randy had died and he started crying it was so touching

Imagine what a shock this song must have been at the time. Ozzy had been kicked out of Sabbath and was holed up in a hotel drinking and drugging when his future wife Sharon convinced her father to sign him as a solo act as she became his manager. First single? The legendary Crazy Train. Even with Dio raking over briefly as singer Sabbath, Ozzy's solo career eclipsed post-Ozzy Sabbath, something most would never expect had they seen the mess he was in that hotel room.
I don't have to imagine. I was there. I remember when this album dropped. Saw them touring on the next album Diary of a Madman at the Cow Palace. Randy was fucking amazing. I've seen thousands of concerts since then (it was my second big show) and nothing compared to that show. I also don't have to imagine how it felt when I heard Randy was gone. I still feel it. Exactly like that same day.
I grew up in the 70s, with 50s music and 60s music my parents listened to. My moms sister my aunt got me into rock n roll kiss, ozzy and so on at 6 years old in 1976. I love all styles of music, its the music and the lyrics that move the body and mind!

Used to go see the original Quiet Riot at the Starwood in L.A. in the late 70s. Randy lit up the place the the moment he hit the stage and you could tell he was destined for stardom. This makes me both happy and sad at the same time. Miss you, Randy.

Bob Daisley wrote all the lyrics to the first two “Ozzy” albums. The band was supposed to be a band called “Blizzard of Ozz” who’s members were Bob Daisley, Lee Kerslake, Randy Rhodes and of course Ozzy, But Ozzy’s wife Sharon changed it to just Ozzy, as a solo artist, shortly before the album was released and then later fired both Daisley and Kerslake after both albums were recorded (they were recording months apart) before the “Diary of a Madman” tour. Daisley continued writing the lyrics for Ozzy up until the “Ultimate Sin” album. This is NOT the original recording.
It should be noted that these lyrics (like most of the songs on these early Ozzy solo records) were written by Bob Daisley, the bass player, whom Ozzy screwed over a few years later...
Just purely out of curiosity, did he ever write lyrics/music going back to 1970? If so did he write, in has last albums with Sabbath? I know was deep in the bag at this point in his life, and it was only going to get worse, Randy's death certainly didn't help. It sounds like Ozzy was only the name, they needed in order to sell.
@@xXPyrophorusXx Ozzy didn't write lyrics. Geezer wrote the lyrics in Black Sabbath. Ozzy created the vocal melodies which mostly follow the guitar/bass riffs.
@@xXPyrophorusXx Ozzy's solo career was originally going to just be billed as "BLIZZARD OF OZZ" - which was the band for the album. Geezer Butler (Bass player in Sabbath) wrote much of the lyrics. Ozzy's contribution to writing songs has mostly always been writing the vocal melodies.

That guitar solo was the late (great) Randy Rhoads. He's definitely in the Top 10 greatest rock guitarists. And I remember when he died. He died in a plane crash about 50 miles from my house in my senior year in high school. What a tragic loss.

I was introduced to ozzy & this album by a boyfriend in 10th grade. Ditched the boyfriend but stayed true to Ozzy forever 😍

At the beginning of the song, I love how Randy Rhoads makes the guitar screech like the metal on metal sound that a locomtoive's wheels make against the iron rails when it starts gaining momentum! Sweet!
This is a little aside Jack and Ozzie did a show where they went around the country and went to different places and they went into this mountain where they keep all these old masters and Ozzie listened to this and he hadn’t heard the original demo strip down since Randy had died and he started crying it was so touching

Imagine what a shock this song must have been at the time. Ozzy had been kicked out of Sabbath and was holed up in a hotel drinking and drugging when his future wife Sharon convinced her father to sign him as a solo act as she became his manager. First single? The legendary Crazy Train. Even with Dio raking over briefly as singer Sabbath, Ozzy's solo career eclipsed post-Ozzy Sabbath, something most would never expect had they seen the mess he was in that hotel room.
I don't have to imagine. I was there. I remember when this album dropped. Saw them touring on the next album Diary of a Madman at the Cow Palace. Randy was fucking amazing. I've seen thousands of concerts since then (it was my second big show) and nothing compared to that show.
I also don't have to imagine how it felt when I heard Randy was gone. I still feel it. Exactly like that same day.
So many styles of music, all carrying a similar message, coming from different directions, bringing us together-where we can all meet in the middle.
I grew up in the 70s, with 50s music and 60s music my parents listened to. My moms sister my aunt got me into rock n roll kiss, ozzy and so on at 6 years old in 1976. I love all styles of music, its the music and the lyrics that move the body and mind!

Used to go see the original Quiet Riot at the Starwood in L.A. in the late 70s. Randy lit up the place the the moment he hit the stage and you could tell he was destined for stardom. This makes me both happy and sad at the same time. Miss you, Randy.

Enjoyed him on the National Mall during the Rally for Sanity hosted by Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert. That was probably the one event in my life i will never forget. I never in my life thought that there would be the huge crowd that it was; but it was amazing to see all the 'regular' people that are never heard.

Bob Daisley wrote all the lyrics to the first two “Ozzy” albums. The band was supposed to be a band called “Blizzard of Ozz” who’s members were Bob Daisley, Lee Kerslake, Randy Rhodes and of course Ozzy, But Ozzy’s wife Sharon changed it to just Ozzy, as a solo artist, shortly before the album was released and then later fired both Daisley and Kerslake after both albums were recorded (they were recording months apart) before the “Diary of a Madman” tour. Daisley continued writing the lyrics for Ozzy up until the “Ultimate Sin” album. This is NOT the original recording.

Just purely out of curiosity, did he ever write lyrics/music going back to 1970? If so did he write, in has last albums with Sabbath? I know was deep in the bag at this point in his life, and it was only going to get worse, Randy's death certainly didn't help. It sounds like Ozzy was only the name, they needed in order to sell.
@@xXPyrophorusXx Ozzy didn't write lyrics. Geezer wrote the lyrics in Black Sabbath. Ozzy created the vocal melodies which mostly follow the guitar/bass riffs.
@@xXPyrophorusXx Ozzy's solo career was originally going to just be billed as "BLIZZARD OF OZZ" - which was the band for the album. Geezer Butler (Bass player in Sabbath) wrote much of the lyrics. Ozzy's contribution to writing songs has mostly always been writing the vocal melodies.

Yes, Ozzy wrote a couple or a few songs. I can't remember all of them, but "Goodbye To Romance" is one of them, which is about him not being in Black Sabbath anymore.
That guitar solo was the late (great) Randy Rhoads. He's definitely in the Top 10 greatest rock guitarists. And I remember when he died. He died in a plane crash about 50 miles from my house in my senior year in high school. What a tragic loss.
