I am 78 yrs old. Been making mixes like these since I was 30. They are healthier because far less preservatives in them. It became a way of life. My husband worked in a fa tory in city. At home he had large garden and sm barn full of animals. From 5 acres we grew moat of our meat, veg and fruit. Plus eggs, milk. Neither of us has any regrets. It was a good life.
You are 100% correct! My late husband was diagnosed in early 2018 with stage four kidney cancer in both kidneys and given 3-6 months to live. Through lots of reading and research I found cancer grows best with artificial and heavy processed enriched foods and sugar, so I changed everything I could in our diet and daily routine to help preserve life. I did end up losing him in 2023 but look at the years I had that they couldn’t explain
This is right down my alley. Maple sugar is easy to make and a whole lot cheaper. Recipe 2c. Pure maple syrup Pour the maple into a medium pot, turn the heat to medium high and boil about 18 minutes DO NOT STIR IT while it is cooking or it will not cook correctly. If you have a candy thermometer cook until it reached 255-265 degrees. Pour the hot mix into your mixer and turn it on to low. Be very careful this mix is super hot. Turn the mixer to high when you can and let it go for a few minutes. It will change from hot liquid to a powdered mix in a few minutes. Run it though a sifter to get out the larger pieces. Store in a jar longer term.
These would be perfect as small gifts for our elderly living on their own. I have made meals in a jar so they can have some healthy homemade meals without a lot of bother so these recipes are a perfect addition. Thank you!
I love your videos. Just what I need bcz I hate boxed food with all the toxic stuff in it! FYI I would mix it in the bowl too bcz you can mix it better that way.
Two minutes before you posted this, I just transferred a package of quick oats to my large glass jar so I can remember to use it in breads or breakfast. You are snooping into my kitchen with my PC camera, aren't you? Edit: Thanks for making us some. They all look perfect.
I made the porridge for my family and everyone loves it. Will be reducing the sugar as it was too sweet for me,but I do add chocolate chips and dried fruit. It is alot cheaper than buying the microwave porridge in the UK.
Well I just happen to have a ton of oats, and powdered milk so Yay! I love oatmeal and stir a spoon of peanut butter in the apple cinnamon if you haven't tried it. Yum. Yes, we are enjoying these homemade mixes. Thanks.
I just found you recently and I have been binging your channels like it is my job lol!!! This is perfect for me because now that it is warmer, I love oatmeal for breakfast!! Thanks for all that you do! I wish we were neighbors
LOVE these ideas!!! I love oatmeal anyway but my smaller grandchildren prefer certain flavors & this is absolutely perfect to have their favorites on hand without buying a million packets I don't need just to get a flavor out! Thank you 💖
Wow! These look so good. When my boys were little I called this “nice and warm cereal”! They loved it so much. Sure wish I had this recipe back then! ✌️
You know what I like about you? Straight to the point, no runnin round the bush, no background filler music, good food recipes that are quick, simple and made with a pinch of love in em!! keep up the awesome work!!
These look delicious! I love oatmeal , especially the apple 🍎 Thanks for the video , I’m 73 and I’m learning a lot from your channel , thank you again ❤️
Love it ! Thank you!! I have oatmeal often. Usually, mix equal parts of the package store-bought with regular oats, because the little packets are so sweet. Absolutely love how you can control the sugar amount in the and flavoring everything. Also just the natural ingredients like you said, without all the preservatives. 😊😋👍
I appreciate that you shared this information. Tried a batch. Really needed a little salt. I would put in blender (maybe 1/4 teaspoon) with the oats to make sure it gets well distributed. I personally use 1/3 C of mix and 2/3 C water. Then I micro wave on high for 1 and 1/2 minutes - the extra time gives the dried fruit a better chance of rehydrating. 😃😃😃😃😃
Made my first batch the day I found your video! It was a hit! I’m sixty years old and disabled so standing to cook oatmeal posses some difficulty for me. I never liked the instant stuff but I thought I’d give it a try. It was very good! My family- who live with me loved it too. I’m making my second batch-a larger one- today. Thank you so much for sharing! I love oatmeal and now I get to have some!!!!
This is such a great ideal. I make oatmeal at work using the packs, but I am going to switch over. My favorite is Peach, so I plan to try other flavors as well.
Oh Tammy you did it again diffently going to make up a batch of these we eat a lot of oatmeal in our house😋. I bet the apple 🍎 will be my favorite and the pecan will be my husband's favorite! I've made your homemade brown sugar and I can say I'll never buy brown sugar from the store again. Thanks again for sharing! 😊😊
Hey Tammy, Thank You for doing this video. Anything that can help us to save money, is a good investment. I was at the commissary a few days ago to buy everything I needed to make these oatmeal recipes. I really like oatmeal, so now I'm ready for snow and cold winter days. There was a lady at the store who started laughing at me and making fun of me for buying the oatmeal, dry powder milk, etc. when I told her what my plans were. I just ignored her. I think that you are awesome and so inspiring to do meal preps. Thank you! And keep up the good work! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I made the Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal. My husband loves it and takes it to work for his breakfast. I even gave some to my daughter and her husband to try. Everyone loves it!
Can make your own instant oats. Also, the only difference is whole oats take longer to cook. Instant oats are just whole oats that have been run through a blender and made into smaller bits.
These look amazing! My favorite has always been maple and brown sugar. If I wanted to add maple syrup to this, at what point in the cooking process would I add it?
Do the freeze dried fruits get icky in the jars after awhile? I know if left to the air they do, so wondering if opening and closing the jars causes issues over time? I freeze dry my own products, so these recipes are top of my list to try.
@@TalesFromAnEmptyNest "Back in the day", before many households had microwaves, Quaker Instant Oatmeal was advertised: 'Just add water" - You would boil water on the stove top and add it to the instant oatmeal, then let it sit for '60 seconds'. Would this also work here? I mean, using boiling water and not at all 'cooking'?
The reason you couldn't shake the pecans to mix is physics. The smaller particles will always sink to the bottom because there is so much room between the pecans. You could shake it all day and they'd never mix in. Matter of fact, if you kept shaking for a while, the powdered oats and milk would sink to the very bottom, you'd have a layer of quick oats, and then the pecans on top.
These videos are a Godsend! I appreciate how clear your instructions are and really enjoy your chatter. I love that you take it a step further and show how to use the mixes!

I do love your DYI videos for common pantry items. Nothing can beat homemade. Most of the stuff in the store is scary since it's loaded with bizarre chemicals so it will have a 100-year shelf life. 😅

Just had to comment on how much I love your content. I would have to agree on your thought processes and why you do it a certain way. Love, love, love these recipes. Thank you and God Bless you and your family. ❤
I love oatmeal and you have shared some great ideas. I dont mix mine ahead because I found that a lot of the add ins are not easy to find or cost effective in dehydrated form. There are some good ones though i suppose and Walmart has most of these...which is accessible to most people. Peanut butter powder, choc milk mix, powdered coffee creamers, cinnamin, pumpkin pie spice, choc chips, cloves, nuts and seeds, nutmeg, any dried or freeze dried fruits work well in this application you have shared. You could also think about protein powder and all those hippy dippy things like hemp and chia seeds. My method is whole rolled oats. I find them a better texture and dont really take much more time. Steel cut i think will take a lot more time. Anyway you can cook oats in fruit juice! I keep a can of frozen apple juice concentrate on hand for oatmeal. Blop out what i need and dilute, save the rest. You could do pomegranate or cranberry, any fruit or juice blend you like. You could also add liquid coffee creamer for those bakery flavors in your oatmeal. This is best added to mostly water. You can peanut butter, coffee syrups, pancake or maple syrup, anything from the spice cabinet, frozen fruit or any traditional ice cream or smoothie ingredients, toppings, heavy cream. Also for your consideration any oatmeal can be done overnight style. Mix it hours before and refrigerate to soak the oats. Reheat to eat. Variations: add greek vanilla yogurt to any recipe and keep in the fridge to snack on cold. It tastes like cookie dough. And the yogurt gives it a few days of staying power in the fridge. You could eat this warmed up as well. You can also make overnight oats in the crockpot.
Awesome mix Tammy Can’t wait to make a few jars. I had been useing like 3 Tbl if the oats and microwaved them in like 1/3 cup water for awhile now and was so glad I didn’t have to go buy the instant box anymore. I was thinking I might make up a batch of the three and give as additional gift for Christmas. Today I made the chicken rice a Roni for a side dish along with chicken fajitas. It turned out fantastic my opinion it was better than the store bought another delicious mix that could be given as an extra little gift. Thank s again.
I just looked at the ingredients in our freeze dried strawberries in Australia. They are full of many ingredients including SHELLFISH! I seriously allergic to this. Thank goodness I checked the ingredients. I’ll definitely dry my own in the dehydrator. Thanks so much for the recipes.

When I make my brown sugar I mix it in my very 1st older model kitchen (perfect metal condition) aide birthday present at 57 years old!, yeah, I was happy with that! LOL, with the whisk attachment, it mixes perfectly!
I stir to incorporate with each ingredient too lol. I use a large whisk to stir dry ingredients, it helps incorporate better imo. Thanks for these recipes (I usually do various nuts or raisins). That apple looks yummy!
First video of yours I've ever seen. This was honestly an excellent video, I watched it from beginning to end, and with my ADHD that's really saying something lol. This looks easy and delicious, I'm definitely gonna be making a couple ❤.

We will try this. We only use non GMO oatmeal though. The rest is sprayed with chemicals which are carcinogenic.

Yes! Someone else suggested that and also the food processor😁😁
Grandkids are the best & cutest taste testers!❤
Yes they are!😁
Have you made homemade "Kool-Aid" type drink mix?
Not yet🙂
I just bought 10lb of regular oats, you think if i grind them down a bit it will work for instant? Thank you!
Yes!😁

I stir to incorporate with each ingredient too lol. I use a large whisk to stir dry ingredients, it helps incorporate better imo. Thanks for these recipes (I usually do various nuts or raisins). That apple looks yummy!
I should have used my whisk🫣😂
Yummmmy!!! These are a must try:) Tfs and God bless:)
Thanks so much!😁

This was honestly an excellent video, I watched it from beginning to end, and with my ADHD that's really saying something lol.
This looks easy and delicious, I'm definitely gonna be making a couple ❤.

Such a great go-to prep breakfast. Love it. What's the blender you're using. That's nice.
It’s a ninja smoothie maker. Here is a link if you want to look at details. I got mine on sale at Target a few years ago😁

How many servings are in each recipe?
Each jar is about 3 cups. Each serving is 1/2 cup, so it is about 6 servings per jar🙂

How long does oatmeal last in jar? Thx
There are mixed answers, but the general consensus is about 3-6 months🙂
I absolutely love your channel! What great information. I ordered the Knorr powdered tomatoes from Amazon. When it arrived, the label was different from the on line picture. This was GMO which I'm not a fan of. Can you tell me where you got what you used for the rice a roni Spanish rice batch. I watch all of your videos, and always learn some great tips! Thank you so much for everything!!
Thank you! I got mine off Amazon also, but they were the same as what was pictured🙂
