I'm excited to make this one just because of them biscuits. I'm a biscuit fanatic anyway. I have saved so many of your homemade pantry items & just started to slowly replace things in my pantry as I use up the old store bought ones. I appreciate these recipes you work your hiney off to bring us Tammy. Thank you for all you share 💝.
I plan to try this. Store bought mix is expensive and I never have it when I want it and making a special trip to the store just adds to the cost. Can you use diet 7up in your biscuits? Yes, I refer to all sodas as coke. I use the terms soda and pop interchangeably. I’m guessing my parents used one term but I grew up in an area that used the other. My favorite is Coke so that makes it easy.
You surprised me by adding Crisco! What will the shelf life be? Will the Crisco go bad if you don’t use this fast enough? I love your recipes! I am doing every one that I find. I love having what I need when I need it! Thank you!! ❤
Your videos! Thank you for the time you take to show us recipes & what to do with them. Hope your thanksgiving was fabulous 🥳😃@@TalesFromAnEmptyNestlove
That was my Friday night, driving the drag and getting a coke. My coke was a Dr. Pepper back in that day. It's all coke. Now I'm addicted to Panera's bubbly lime. It's sparkling water but I might try it in the biscuits. This was a fun video and good to know that other folks can't open those stupid bags. 😂 I'm am about to go chop celery so I can make your gumbo finally tomorrow. Wish me luck.
Lol back in the old days we used to drive all night doing absolutely nothing except burning gas lol. Good thing it was so cheap back in the old days when I was a teenager🤣 Let me know how your gumbo turns out!😁
I love bisquick mix but hate the "extra" stuff that is added. Now i can make my own!! Thank you for sharing!! I like to use for dumpling when we make chicken and dumplings!!❤😊
I love the way you are so easy to understand and you talk like a normal human being. Some places, the voices sound so awful. I love listening to you! I made a jar of your buttermilk mix, and your cornmeal mix. Now I need to make this (as soon as I run out of the store bought stuff)
What about using lard instead of crisco? I’m not a fan of crisco. Would that be shelf stable as long as crisco ? I’m thinking I could store it in mason jars and use my sealer to remove air. Should be just as good as any old plastic bag and boxed ones from the store. I definitely will try the biscuits recipe 👍I don’t use soda because of the sugar content but I will sub that with club soda instead. For the health conscience folks 👍
Please keep making these types of “Homemade” recipes 🙏🙏🙏 It’s so important for us to avoid all those nonessential preservatives for our health! Thank you!❤❤❤

I was wondering about using lard as well. Thanks for asking.
Lard is softer and has a shorter shelf life so you might need to adjust some things. I’ve never used it, so maybe check and see if Google can help😁
I would prefer to use lard too. I would say that it should keep for awhile, maybe store in refrigerator?
It would depend on the lard - Commercial lard, such as Morrel's Snow Cap, has stabilizers added. Home-rendered lard doesn't.
Only coke is coke, others are soda pop.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR FANTASIC RECIPES

Not a chance I would ever use Crisco
You don’t have to🙂
For the biscuits, can I use sugar free gingerale?
I’ve never tried ginger ale, but try it and see how it goes😁
Wonder if you can use shortening powder
I’m not sure. I had never heard of shortening powder until recently, so I haven’t tried it in any recipes yet🙂
@TalesFromAnEmptyNest never heard of it either but I ordered some . As a curiosity thing. LOL
@ keep me posted! I might have to get some too😁
Can I use Celtic sea salt?
I’ve never used it in baking, but according to Google, you would need to grind it down some first and it might affect the taste and texture🙂
Can you use the butter crisco? And it still be stable outside of the refrigerator??
Yes and yes. It’s not actual butter, just butter flavor so it will work the same way as regular crisco🙂🙂
