The fat in the milk is actually very beneficial to your health. Believe it or not fat helps you to lose weight in a keto diet. They tell you to eat butter, fat, healthy oils, etc. So nonfat is not as healthy as we all used to think. I just thought I’d share that maybe you’ll wanna switch over to whole milk. Which they do sell by the way, cause I bought it. In my survival pantry in case things get bad. And it lasts for many years.❤
Yes, healthy fats can help you lose weight by making you feel fuller. Also, cutting out carbs is a huge part of what makes you lose weight on keto. My nephew had great success using keto. Thanks for the input! I might have to try the whole milk powder in the future! I love the idea of a survival pantry!😁😁
No, you can’t replace the cornstarch with self rising flour in this recipe. I have only ever used cornstarch, but there are other options you can use instead. Read through the comments here as there was lots of discussion on substitutions that might help🙂
This is approximately 15 servings which would be the equivalent of 15 cans of cream soup, so you could definitely split this into smaller jars for gifts😁
If you don't want to use corn starch there is potato or rice starch. Remember the flavor will change some . Parmesan cheese is also a partial substitute with a touch of starch
For decades I've half-joked that I'd love "cream of anything" soup, even cream of rock. Your "cream of anything" soup mix is the serious answer I never thought I'd hear. I doubt I'll ever use it to make cream of rock soup, but there are surely more real possibilities than I can even think of.
Used to make cream of refrigerator soup...whatever was in the refrigerator went into a pot to make cream soup...I think my favorite included broccoli in the pot, but it's all excellent!
This would be cool to take as rations for camping or hiking and you do a little foraging each night for the stuff to add. Probably want to take it in a different container, lol.
I’m wondering if something like arrowroot could be substituted for the cornstarch to use for thickening. Going to explore this since I’m keto & don’t use cornstarch. Thanks for this recipe!
Using the low fat milk is better for long-term storage. The fat content of the whole milk powder means it has a shorter shelf life. So the choice of low fat vs. whole milk depends on your intended use, and how quickly you plan to use it up.

I also use instant potatoe flakes to make gravy rather than flour, works great .
Thank you. Just found your channel. Love it. My husband has to have low or no salt. So u know salt helps and is needed in your food. This is going to be beautiful and I’ll save money. Because you know how pricey these little soup cans can be in the stores. ❤❤❤❤❤. Thank you again will be trying everything on your channel. Have a great day.
I love hat you can really customize things when you make them at home😁😁
If I am doing soup, I add lentils, vegies etc to pot of water, boil it till cooked, and still on watery side. Let cool, put half through food procesor, blend till all creamy. Add to rest of soup. Comes out very creamy and tasty
Wonderful idea, love this and will make half the recipe to start off. THANK YOU!!! PS i too stopped eating the cream of soup because if the additives. So bad for you but so yummy❤😂😂
Sounds great! Thanks!😁
Thank you! I've wheat allergies and most soups come with wheat. This will be a "go to" for me.
I’m glad it’s helpful😁
You are JUST adorable and So kind! I think I need to go live in the South - but Im from Australia! You could be reading the phone book with that accent and I would feel happy!
Awww thank you so much! 😁😁
Just found your channel ❤so glad I did. I was making something, I needed cream of ckn soup..didn't have any when I looked, I'm in the middle of cooking. I am now keeping this on hand. Thank you so much ❤. Of course I subbed 👍🏼🥀
Thank you and welcome to the family!😁😁
This is awesome! I buy & cook with A LOT of cream of ______ soups. I can see myself saving quite a bit of money as well as frustration when I need a can but I'm out & don't feel like going to the store for it! Thank you so much for this!
Thanks! I use it a lot too😁😁
I am totally making this! What a great way to save money and pantry space!
It really is! Thanks!😁
I go through plenty of cornstarch. I feel like this is really valuable knowledge so thank you!
You're welcome! I'm glad you found this helpful! 😁
I can’t wait to put this up in my pantry
😁😁😁
Sauté fresh mushrooms and add the broth to the mushroom pan to loosen the fond. I am looking forward to this recipe.
Sounds great!😁
What a great idea! Many thanks
Glad you liked it!😁
I'm not a vegetarian but my daughter is, so the chicken bouillon powder is out. I was thinking along the line of vegetable bouillon powder instead ( know you can find it on Amazon), than we both could use it without having to make two jars and then risk getting them mixed up. She could make a creamy vegetable soup with her choice of vegetables and either a vegetable broth or vegan chicken flavored broth. I could make mine with chicken and chicken broth, it would be a nice mix of chicken and vegetable. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds great!😁
I would definitely recommend substituting the corn starch for potato starch.
You can certainly adjust it to whatever works for you😁
Just subscribe.. I'm so happy I've found a recipe for cream of anything soup mix I will be sharing this video with family and friends.. Thank you...
Awesome! Thank you and welcome to the family!😁
Just coming across this; thank you! Finally, the algorithm has blessed me ❤️🥰
Edit: I had to get arrowroot powder for a new recipe, and now I have this big container. Do you know if I can sub the arrowroot for cornstarch? Thanks 😊✌️
It’s not a 1 to 1 swap. Read through the comments. Several people have been talking about arrowroot. Hopefully that will give you some good info😁
@@TalesFromAnEmptyNest Thanks! 👍
@@gohawks3571 you’re welcome!😁
❤ Awesome! Going to dehydrate celery, mushrooms and put in jars to add according to the type I need. Love your videos!
Perfect! Thanks!😀
Oh yes, this soup is so delicious with all those fresh herbs from my garden and using arrow root instead. for those who do not want to use corn starch. 😋 thanks for the recipe.
Sounds great!😁
Since it got pretty thick I would only use like 2 or 3 Tablespoons of the cream mix for the soup and the whole can of mushrooms. Love mushroom soup and now I'm craving it right now at 11:30pm
@@colchicine1 if you are using it in place of canned cream of soup, it is supposed to be thick. Think of the consistency when you open a can of cream of mushroom soup. If you just want to eat it as soup, you can definitely make it a little thinner😁😁
@@TalesFromAnEmptyNest Wow, I've never gotten such a quick response from anyone else! Do appreciate this soup mix recipe. Can't wait to try it. Thanks!
@@colchicine1 you’re welcome! I try to be pretty active in my comment section as much as I can because I know people have questions. I like the feel of community and everyone bouncing ideas off each other😁😁

Thank you! I love this recipe and can't wait to try. Just in time for the cooler weather!
Yes! Thank you!😁
I love this ! I have so much powdered milk i need to use up ! Will try 🎉
Nice! Thanks!😁😁
Thank you! Could you substitute self rising flour instead of corn starch?
Great video!
No, you can’t replace the cornstarch with self rising flour in this recipe. I have only ever used cornstarch, but there are other options you can use instead. Read through the comments here as there was lots of discussion on substitutions that might help🙂
Can’t wait to stockpile this in my cupboard. It has so many uses as well as a variety of flavor. Thanks for sharing!
Hope you enjoy it!😁
How many servings does this make? Id get a case of jars & give out for Christmas 🎄
This is approximately 15 servings which would be the equivalent of 15 cans of cream soup, so you could definitely split this into smaller jars for gifts😁
I just dehydrated a whole bunch of white button and bicolor bolete mushrooms that will go great in this! I can't wait to try it out
Sounds great!😁😁
If you don't want to use corn starch there is potato or rice starch. Remember the flavor will change some . Parmesan cheese is also a partial substitute with a touch of starch
I'm a cook by trade and we only use flour to thicken our cream soups it gives it a better color and Fuller body
All I could think about while reading this is when Charlie Brown got a rock😂😂😂
Thank you for this video, very enlightening!
Saving this one!
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
Fantastic explanation, thank you!
Used to make cream of refrigerator soup...whatever was in the refrigerator went into a pot to make cream soup...I think my favorite included broccoli in the pot, but it's all excellent!
Sounds great!😁😁
This would be cool to take as rations for camping or hiking and you do a little foraging each night for the stuff to add. Probably want to take it in a different container, lol.
Lol just put what you need in a ziplock bag. Sounds like a great idea😁
This video was amazing, learned a lot.
I’m wondering if something like arrowroot could be substituted for the cornstarch to use for thickening. Going to explore this since I’m keto & don’t use cornstarch. Thanks for this recipe!
Read through the comments here as several people have been commenting on using alternative methods. Maybe that will help😊😊
tapioca starch is a better thickener and you need less of it
Love and Respect 🙏 Thank's and Bless you 🙏 Congratulations ❤️ Beautiful 😂

Thank you for this. I just added it to my notes on my iPad.
Thanks for watching!😁
@@TalesFromAnEmptyNest I read a recipe for cream of mushroom soup that was ridiculously complicated. This makes more sense!
@@SleeplessMomma this is so simple! And it tastes delicious!!😁😁
Using the low fat milk is better for long-term storage. The fat content of the whole milk powder means it has a shorter shelf life. So the choice of low fat vs. whole milk depends on your intended use, and how quickly you plan to use it up.
Good to know! Thanks for sharing😁
For some one who has to eat gluten free this is wonderful. soups in a can are a big NO. I'm making tuna casserole for sure
