  • Hello there, cellar dwellers! It's that time again. We had so much stuff this week we've got to do it across two videos. The first part of the load was shown in DtC 23, and this video shows the rest.
    If you have a question, comment, complaint, or criticism, or would like to share (or sell) your collection, please feel free to write Tom at:
    herrwittmann@gmail.com
    An email is the best way to get your question answered, because while Tom most definitely reads your comments he hasn't quite gotten the hang of replying to them in the comment section.

    I watched both episodes back to back and then watched them again. You and Rob are such fine representatives of these beautiful pieces of art and history ... we learn so much from your expertise and where else can we see these pieces presented in such an enjoyable way ... each episode is like gathering around the Christmas tree with a Christmas drink in hand as you unwrap these beautiful presents. Love this channel and love you guys.

    Nice suff! That Göring drinking horn says "Ein guter Trunk - Eine erfolgreiche Jagd" so it means " a good drink - a good hunt" on the inside

    Thomas thank you for the class in art and culture! It was and is a class, that most of us could not afford the price of admission to even see fine art show like this! Most of us would never be in the right circles to see art this rare and get an explanation of maker and type!!! Thanks 🙏

    Good Morning Thomas. Fürst Pless is the name of the Oberstjägermeister of Kaiser Wilhelm I.. This type of horn is named after Fürst von Pless and has a special b-tuned tone

    Hi Tom, Enjoying your Part 2 as always. Another comment covered the hunting horn so I will move along to Herzog Carl Eduard of Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha. His is truly a tragic story. Born Charles Edward in Great Britain as a grandson of Victoria and Albert, he was literally dragooned into assuming the title in Germany. He spoke NO German and begged not to go but was ordered by the Queen as being his duty to the monarchy. He does his best to assimilate and be liked by his new subjects. Along comes WW-1. He fought exclusively (to the best of my knowledge) on the Eastern Front. In true illustration of "No good deed ever goes unpunished" he was stripped of his British titles and lands as being a traitor. Of course he DID become a supporter of the NS regime as well as being head of the Deutsche Rotes Kruez. I would respectfully submit that, by the engraving on the crystal blotter, it was presented to him IN Coburg; where he died in 1954.
    By the way, that huge eagle is YOU! Place it in your front picture window under some LED lights. 👍😎 All for now, Best, Ken

      It is truly outrageous how the British royalty treated their former German-sounding names, titles, traditions and in fact the whole German side of their family. It was truly a disgrace to say the least. Then they wondered why it took another world war to break the back of the bitter German once and for all in 1945, the Brits reaped what they sowed, that is what i think.

    Hi. Great unboxing as usual, the two awards you looked at is the pioneer of labour decoration , I believe a total of 18 awards were issued and then the Dr Fritz Todt Prize in steel.

    • @quattrodrift3376
      @quattrodrift3376 2 года назад +1

      Yes that´s my opinion too, in the gold box is clearly the Dr Fritz Todt prize in steel. Maybe his son should read the writing if Mr. Wittmann don´t have the glasses on. That could made a few more storys about the piece which only he can tell us.

    Wow, that Pack engraved artillery sword is a beauty…….but the Allach Amazon on Horseback is really quite fabulous! I don’t blame the guy in the past who wanted his back, it’s something to look at every day. I have the Allach reclining fawn and I make a point to look at that everyday!
    When someone put the glasses on the death mask it makes the guy look like Henry Kissinger (no disrespect to Mr. Kissinger)!

Thanks for another history lesson Mr.W.👍🏼 How much is a HJ knife with a handle like that worth in todays market?

    Hey Tom. Little correction about the hunting signal horn. It didn't belong to a Fürst, this type of signal horn is named "Fürst-Pless Horn". The most common type of hunting signal horns.
