I'm looking forward to Starship Simulator.....I can see where a discord server or community is started to keep a game on a single ship running 24/7 with a full complement of crew members.
As it happens I'm re-watching Voyager and the new ship design reminds me of a hybrid of Voyager and the hyperspace rings from Star Wars. I definitely approve. Can't wait to play it.
**insert joke about how the game is nothing but ship interiors here** 😉 I played around with the demo when it was first released. Had fun messing with the lights and cutting power to different sections of the ship for a few hours, then moved on and honestly forgot about it. I'm glad that it's making such progress, as the concept has s lot of potential and the people behind it clearly care about the details! In a somewhat similar vein, but with a shallower learning curve, my people and I have been having an absolute blast playing Pulsar: Lost Colony. It's playable with up to 5 players, each taking a different role on the ship (I claimed the pilot role, naturally). There's an overarching quest to it, and you take a wide variety of missions (or just go rogue and do crime). There are a few different species you can play (I play as a robot), a ton of NPCs, and a wide variety of environments. Ship combat feels very much like Wrath of Khan, on foot combat is what you're expect from an FPS, and the non-combat on-foot stuff feels like an original series Star Trek episode. You can upgrade your ship and personal gear, level up skills, etc. In a single evening our crew cleared out a pirate outpost, infiltrated an auction on a desert planet, scavenged for rare items in the seedy underbelly of a hive city that was so large we kept getting lost (and mugged), got into a few Starship battles with rival fractions, explored alien ruins, accidentally triggered the security robots on a friendly station (long story), and did some high-stakes gambling on a posh casino station (in the line of duty, of course). The graphics are somewhat chunky, and the flight model, while satisfying, is nothing like Elite, but it's just a great time. It took a couple of starts for us to figure out what the hell we're doing, but that was part of the fun, and I'm looking forward to it next session.
@@Aaro4ify It’s really hard to strike that balance with sandbox sims. You either get some sort of ordered chaos with some actual game mechanics layered on top which carry the crew towards a common goal, or boring RP gameplay where you get hurting someone’s feelings gets you kicked.
@@laughingman4236 I don't think rp gameplay is boring btw and besides this game isn't going to just be a rp game I mean there will be a dnd style gamemaster game mode for that I don't think rp is boring at all I'm pretty sure it can be fun this game isn't ss13 and btw rp isn't boring for some people again It's not gonna be chaotic for the sake of realism go play ss13 if you want that. you can't keep a ship running if you have incompetent crew members you can have that kind of chaos with boarding parties.
Curious if they would consider down the road allowing for more than 1 ship in the verse. Allowing for competing sides to play it out. Granted the player cap is also something I am interested in hearing about. If I missed it talked about please forgive me, got 1/4 through the video and had to post.
It's not in the specs afaik. The developers have talked auxillary spacecraft... So shuttles etc. But they all come as part of the main ship rather than it being a multiship universe.
I think this is pretty cool, but I have one issue. The ship feels... kind of like a luxury hotel? And I don't know, Something about the opulence of it feels out of place. Otherwise this is extremely cool!
It's a space office. The majority of people on board are civilian scientists, so it's built to keep them comfortable and happy on long deep space missions :)
@TheBuurPit I understand . And that's what I mean. I pay real money if they do this with a good A I crew, That learns, Different ship options with the shuttle bay. I'm a waiting missions that include combat science and diplomacy . Mix that with the 1 to 1 level Galaxy and for me with atmospheric entry or even a good load screen. I'd pay real money.💯👍

I assume the person chosen to be Captain is done through trial by combat, Klingon-style. :)
So we're going from a starfleet ship more towards a vulcan ship now. =)

"I never took the Kobayashi Maru test until now. What do you think of my solution?"
It had the benefit of never having been tried.... ;)
Oh i know someones going to make a star trek mod for this...........and i cannot wait!!!!!!
hopefuly it uses a workshop system for that and any other kind of Scifi ship system.
I just found this little gem, and it reminded me, this game is what the very original concept for Star Trek Online was.
Now its pew pew😢
I hope there's an opening on your ship for a world class barista?
You sure we can manage makes shift bar
I'll bring my own machine and grinder.@@syoung2333
Been following this for awhile, pretty darn excited for it!
Man exploring the stars. I hope we can play the finale build. Cmon guys throw your money at the screen!!
**throws money at screen**
So if a million people buy the game there will be a million people on one ship?
No just whoever joins your server session.
That would be a Borg Cube, which isn't in game yet. Pfft. It's more like a Death Star...
I hope it ends up being as chaotic as SS13
Not everyone would want that though if you want chaotic play ss13 or play shiptest.

I liked the old design, it reminded me of a Miranda Class.
this game seem very cool played a bit of the demo and hope their a new update so the rooms feel less empty.
Will this have NPC crew
200 of them.

When they have different ship types. That's what i'm gonna buy in but I am enthusiastic about it.
With their current business plans "When they have different ship types" is the only point you'd need to pay ...its free to play otherwise.

And I almost forgot. A good campaign / campaign options
I'm curious how griefers will be handled in this game
This sounds like a game ripe for antisocial types trying to ruin the experience for others
Send them to the brig, mute them or kick them from your game :)
i am sure their will be a brig/kick system so trouble maker are either removed or if simple harmless evilness the brig, for cool RP stuff.
