Unless it was use and abuse, three months is way too short a time for an espresso machine to last regardless of use. This is disappointing. I have ordered one and will receive in a couple days. Hoping to have better luck.
@@humblenepali I never really liked it. It was very inconsistent and, in my opinion, the digital menu is gimmicky and unnecessary. I also rarely got a good tasting shot. I returned it.
Hi Lillian. Happy 50th birthday. We’re so happy to hear that our review was helpful to you and your purchasing process. Smart move on buying the warranty. Even with the potential failures with Breville, we have another one now that we’re using and will review soon, and our good friends just bought one based on our recommendations as well. All with extended warranties of course.
When this machine works, it's awesome. Mine is two months old and stopped working today. I've done every troubleshooting thing under the sun and nada. Breville has no customer service on weekends. I'm beyond disappointed and angry. It's not pulling any water into the machine at all.
Replacement machine was working fine this week and now it's not. I'm getting no water flowing through even on a blind shot. It's just pooling up in the portafilter. I pull a blind shot to clean after brewing and again before I brew a new shot. I have begun to really, really hate this machine.
I got mine yesterday. Used it 3 times and got error code ER09 while steaming milk and shuts off. My old De’Longhi La Specialista had no issues for over a year and we made over 500 coffee. I have an extended warranty and it’s still within 30 days. Seems a lot of people are having issues with error ER09 and ER05 but no solution.
@@JJSolitude I got to admit, the shot quality is a lot better than most machines in its price range. What I did notice is that the error only happens on and off using the auto milk function. If you manually steam the milk (which I prefer) I never had the issue. It’s definitely a sensor issue and needs to be replaced.
@@arisistible1 thanks for the feedback. I love the taste too and am so sad about having to deal with the company. I'll practice at steaming manually but how does one tell what the temp is that way?
@@JJSolitude I usually hold it and place my other hand at the bottom, once it’s starts looking a silky texture and gets to the temperature that your hand feels it’s hot enough, stop it. That would be your baseline, taste the milk and feel the texture. It should be sweet, not sour and texture can be silky or more fluffy if you like the cool foam presentation. If it’s sour, you went too long. But you’ll know trust me, it’ll boil out and spill when it’s too hot lol. But again it’s preference, I always say go with your gut and your friends will like it also. You got this!
Hi thanks for your question. We had it set at 11, and were using freshly roasted beans. They were more or less a medium roast. Some roasts will require a finer grind and some a coarser grind. I believe our machine was defaulted around 15 for the initial setting.
I usually make 3 drinks at a time, but typically only 1 of those being one that I use the steaming wand. It worries me, with how much this machine costs though, how I would want to risk buying one. : (
Sage/Breville would 100% replace this machine under warranty. I had a much less significant issue (inconsistent tamping) with an oracle touch and they replaced it, no questions, after a year
Hey Bob. You’ve got a great point. I believe I’ve worked with Breville’s support in the past, and if I remember correctly they required me to send in the coffee machine for them to then address and repair or replace based on what they deemed necessary. That would of course leave you without your coffee machine for a week or two. In general, for purchases like this I pretty much always get an extended warranty and in this case I had the Geek Squad protection plan from Best Buy. Their protection plans are sometimes a product repair plan, but often times it’s a product replacement plan. In this case I took the unit into Best Buy, and explained to them what was going on and they offered me a replacement or a gift card for the value of the machine. I took the gift card and bought the De’Longhi La Specialista Prestigio, which we will have a review for soon. At the same time, I’ve read where Breville has replaced a whole unit with a brand new one through their warranty due to a simple part being faulty. So I believe their warranty process is good and they seem to take care of the consumer, but more than likely you’re without the product for some time.
@@bonus999 Sorry to hear you're having the same issue. It's tough with such expensive consumer products and sometimes lack of longevity/reliability. I hope the warranty through Breville resolves it for you.
Interesting. Seems like many people have had issues, though most people love their machines and they last for years. Our recommendation is to definitely get an extended warranty, such as Best Buy Geek Squad Protection on any Breville unit. Our current daily machine is another Breville unit, which we will review soon as well. And believe me, we got the warranty on it after our experience. Thanks for viewing and supporting our channel. 🙂
I had my machine for 2 weeks and made 2 to 3 drinks a day. These drinks weren't even made back to back. The unit turned off twice so far during the milk steaming process

Yep, Breville is only exchanging them over and over again. I'd never buy Breville again.

Hello, how much do you set your grinder to, knowing that from the factory it is on 1.1/2? In fact, on this setting, I had no extraction flow. THANKS.
