I'd like to emphasize here, that while the manual milk frothing is amazing, the automatic milk frothing does not make the milk as creamy and silky (see the difference at 10:53). Check prices here: geni.us/BrevilleTouchImpress (Breville/Sage affiliate link)
I purchased this machine around a month ago after using a Gaggia classic. I absolutely love the consistency of the brew and the ease of use. I paid $1803 (Au) at retravision. Always love your videos Tom❤
@@Tonyplat98 I set grind to 10 or 12 then I great crema but its very strong...if I set grind 14-16 then I get its not strong but less or no crema so I am loosing cream when I grind coarser and coffe is less strong. I guess its somehow related to water pressure when I go in a coffe bar they use same coffe as me since I buy from them but then their expresso has cream and its not that strong while in my case to get crema I have very strong expresso.
I was very torn between super automatic (delonghi dinamica) or a manual/semi automatic…. But this machine helped me make up my mind. I think it’s the best of both worlds !!
Best review of this machine that I have seen. Ultra-practical and very informative. Really helps to aid the purchasing decision. I notice no Amazon links for your European viewers, though! Cheers.
Hi Tim thanks for the informative review. I note quite a lot of genuine Amazon reviewers lambasting the build quality of the machine, seemingly break down less than a year of use and having terrible customer service from Breville. Wondering if you have heard the same?
Was about to buy it but tried the impress express and really could not justify the cost premium of touch impress. Hand steaming is actually very easy (I am a newbie). Moreover impress express looks more like a machine when touch looks like an appliance with largest footprint and “toy” screen. Very happy of impress express so far after 2 weeks !
Awesome! I think the Express Impress offers very good value, and you can make the same drinks. But the steam wand is definitely better on the Touch Impress. On the other hand, you get the manometer on the Express Impress, which is really nice. Cheers!
Oh yes, this will do much better than most coffee shops, since most coffee shops while having crazy expensive equipment don't train their staff to use it properly.
Awesome video! I've had mine for about a month now and as with you, my wife loves that she can easily make her favorite drinks without having to really dive into the techniques for pulling a great shot. One thing I did learn about this machine. It will dose out about 16g for a double shot espresso or milk drink using the "non-pressurized" basket. Since it doses by sensing the tamper lvl, there is really no adjustment (using the Impress) to increase the dose to about 18g. I enjoy a stronger Americano (long black) and milk drinks so this upset me but I found a work around. I bought the IMS H28 18g-22g basket and since it is deeper, using the Impress I get about 20g in the portafilter. Now I'm happy!!!
Thanks for your feedback! I was actually getting about 18-19 grams in the OEM basket, but it might depend on your bean and roast too. But no matter what, I find the IMS baskets to be the best anyway, so I buy them for each machine I have. I like that you can buy different depth baskets, for larger doses. Cheers!
Have you tried grinding your coffee finer? Afaik your shots should at least take 20 seconds when making espresso. If it‘s taking less time you need to grind finer, in which case you‘ll have more grams of coffee in your portafilter
@@BruceJamesCobber It takes about 27-32 secs for a double shot at my grind lvl. The shots are great but I like it stronger. After speaking with Breville, there is no adjustment of the weight of grounds in the basket. It only goes by tamper lvl. I solved the problem by getting an IMS H28 18-22g basket. Since it was deeper, it takes more grounds to obtain the correct tamper lvl. It holds about 20g when tamped. Problem solved.
Great review. I really consider to buy this machine. I have a Saeco incanto automatic from 2017 now. I use fresh roasted beans all the time, but I think it’s quite a waste with my current machine. I think this machine will be a great upgrade from my cuurent one. Important part here is the partner acceptance factor though…
Very nice review and overview. My only observation is that the pulled shot has to be getting cold after 81+ seconds to froth the milk. I think this is where the double boiler could really come in handy?
Tom, love the channel. You have taken my knowledge to new heights. I'm about to upgrade my rig but i'm in a dilemma. Do i go for the combination of Sage Bambino Plus + Sage the Smart Grinder Pro or do i go for the Sage Barista Express on its own ? Your comments would be most welcome. 🙏☕
I just purchased this machine and looking forward to it. I’m experienced with espresso machines having had a few models going back many years. I’m still using the an old manual that has been serviced once but ready for something new and different. I chose this model because it has a better grinder and steaming wand than most of the Breville models and the touch screen will definitely be fun to use. I understand that the machine can’t pre-warm your cup or portafilter. I won’t know if it will make a considerable difference until I use the machine. If so, I’ll have to find another way to fo it. Any thoughts here?
You nailed it on the partner acceptance factor, at least in my case. I really like my espresso ritual, my wife not so much. She'd love to have one of these in the future. I may cave, honestly. Maybe get a Flair 58 for me so that I can still have my coffee fun (I like puck prep, what can I say). As always, enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, what I like about Sage/Breville is that I can put a new machine in front of my wife, and she can use it without further instruction. Of course only if it's dialed in though.
Apparently this one has an auto dial-in function for the grinding too. I take it it's not much use? I was interested to hear if the Baratza grinder performs better than other Breville units. Do you think it does? Thanks for the review. I ordered one, it will arrive tomorrow. :)
I'm so tempted to treat myself to this machine for Christmas. I'm worried in case one part breaks and you're stuck with a big machine. But it would be really disappointing if there wasn't a noticeable improvement in the end result from my current dedica machine, which is better than any cafe bought coffee.
Well this machine is quite a different beast from the Dedica. Tons of options and features, PID controlled, integrated grinder and tamper, way better milk steaming, to name a few. But the Dedica can do quite well with an IMS basket, good beans, and a good grinder. The Touch Impress has the edge however for settable and quite flat PID controlled thermocoil over the Dedica's which has quite a dip in its temp curve.
Can you do a video dialing it in please? I’ve had this machine almost a week and can’t get anything to taste good. I went through 1lb of fresh beans in a day and half without getting anything worth drinking and I’m so frustrated.
@TomsCoffeeCorner hey Tom, great review! After doing extensive research and comparing Breville machines to Philis and DeLongi, I've decided to go with Breville brand. Can't decide between Breville Touch and Touch Impress. Can you tell me what the main difference is other than the automatic temper on the Touch Impress? Also, I get my Mochas at a local coffee shop...is there an option to make a Mocha on either of these two? Thanks in advance!
Well, the Touch Impress is newer. It has a nicer screen, and a better steam wand. The Impress tamping system is also pretty nice, and it has an updated Baratza burr set in it. For Mocha, we used to first warm up the chocolate sauce in the bottom, then extract a shop onto it, then add the frothed milk, at a coffee shop I worked at. So, I'd select the flat white or cappuccino option, and follow those steps.
Do you know if the inner shower head is plastic or metal? What do you think about the shower head upgrade to IMS and using bottomless portafilter with IMS competition basket? Do you think it worth the upgrade? Thanks
Thanks for the review. For ease for my wife to make her latte in the morning before work, I have to get the Touch. In saying that, I understand that the touch comes with their own tamper but would I be able to use the internal grinder for coffee into the portafilter and then use my own tamper, WDT, Gravity distributer before I pull the shot? Thank you
I was just about to buy this machine based on Toms review, but then I noticed ppl on Reddit stating the hot water is only 60-70c… so I went back here to see if it was measured but sadly not. Anyone has a positive measurement of the hot water? (For americano etc)
Hi Tom. Another great review as always. I currently have a DeLonghi Prima Donna soul. It is faulty and out of warranty so am looking to replace it. Prior to having the DeLonghi, I had the Breville Oracle for 5 years. I have been thinking about going back to Breville. Would you recommend this machine or the Oracle? One of the things that I am keen on is making two flat whites at the same time and the Oracle uses a double boiler system, but is much older technology. Thank you for considering the question.
Hi Wayne, which market are you in? I haven't tried an Oracle yet, but I have done the BDB, and that is a sweet machine. Btw, what's wrong with your Prima Donna Soul? I've been meaning to test one of those, with the adjustable burr grinder.
What grind setting/level did you use in this video? Also Do you have a guide/lesson on how to know what grind setting to use for different kinds of beans?
Thanks for the video! I love your reviews. I am trying to decide between this one and the Barista touch. Is it worth the extra $500? What’s the biggest difference? We’re beginner espresso users
FYI I would love to know what you ended up choosing. The touch impress does have a better grinder (baratza burrs) compared to the touch as we as the barista guidance for a newbie is really helpful
Damit Tom !!! I just ordered a Jura S8 through Costco at a discount !! But now after watching this video i am heavily leaning towards this machine and cancelling the Jura order 😂😂😂 ....what 2 do !!!
Oh man, I love Costco! Best products and return policy if needed. I mean a portafilter espresso machine is way different than a superautomatic. So it depends how involved you wanna be. With the S8, you could just press a button. Potential is higher with the Breville though.
Well I kinda apologize for not getting to use your link . I needed to get something before Wednesday. It will go into my Semi truck to replace the Nespresso machine I've had for the last 3 years. I mainly drink americanos , but I would like to try some other drinks like flat whites and cappuccinos. The Nespresso pods just do not cut it ! Thank you for the portafilter route advice , I'll follow up later.
Hey Tom, i wanna buy some sage maschine and i womder between express impress and this one touch impress, which one should i choose? The milk is very important to me i want a easy mashine for silky milk, thanks for the response!😊
Well, this one is better for silky milk, but the Dual Boiler is even better, which I believe should cost about the same as the Touch Impress. I do have some discount codes, so email me if you are interested in that. Cheers!
Can you have the automatic milk frothing running at the same time as extracting?
Год назад
Thank you for the video. The machine is finally available in Switzerland, just ordered mine 😋. Unfortunately you have no link for Switzerland, otherwise I would surely have ordered it through your link. And by the way, very well done video: short but very informativ! All I am missing, is just an example of using the automated drink programs.
Partner acceptance factor!... the most important factor haha.. I'm torn between a Rocket Appartamento and this. But I know my wife isn't going to use the Rocket and I'll be stuck making 2 coffees every morning for the foreseeable future. This machine seems like a great middle ground.
Hi tom, i really enjoy watching your videos its full of tips and always helpfull. I just got my touch impress this monday and love the machine so far. My only complaint will be the shot temperature. Even set at +4 the shot come out not hot. I've try to preheat with hot water my cup doesn't work either. I was wondering if you experience any issues
@@TomsCoffeeCorner i feel dumb but i didn't know that. Still new in thie esspresso world. How can i do that. Just run water down the group head and the porta filter ? Thanks for your time and your tips 😊
Hi! I Just bought this machine and I noticed that the milk temperature never reach the dialed temperature during the frothing. Have you ever experienced that during your tests? For example if I dial 170f on the machine the textured milk rarely go hotter than 130f. I fill my jug just under the spout, and since it is supposed to be a temperature sensor, milk quantity should not cause problem.. Thank you and happy new Year! 😊
I don't know...I normally go for 140 myself, and it hits that without issue. Could it be that the sensor is wet? Where are you measuring the milk's temp?
Thanks for your response, I also set my temp normally at 140f but it did not even reach 100f wich is pretty cold. I double check my temp with the Breville Temp Control jug and a digital thermometer and the two are yeling the same result. Also, the jug is dry and well position on the sensor… Thank you 😊
Complete newbie here, and maybe stupid question. But what is the difference between a pressurized and non-pressurized basket? Would this be worth a short explaining video?
From what I understand, the pressurized basket is for coffee beans that have not been roasted within a month of use ( grocery store beans) or for pre ground coffee. And non pressurized is for freshly roasted coffee beans.
Questions, questions...If you want to save money then get the Pro, as it's got a nice steam wand too, and you can do most of the same things, just without the integrated tamper.
I'll have one incoming. By the loka of this video a third generation machine it should have ironed out any issues. I'm cautiously optimistic having read reviews of milk not being hot enough to inconsistent shots of espresso. The window menu seems kimda gimicky but I'll have my fingers crossed. Will update at a much later time.
Hi, I really like your videos! Could you give me your opinion? I am between the express impress, pro and touch impress. I tried tamping twice at a local store demo station and both times it came out tilted. I am completely new and that has been my only experience with making espresso. I have never steamed milk. I have been watching a ton of videos and I want to learn how to pull shots and steam milk manually. I also like the idea of not always having to do it. i see alot of videos with scales, timers etc for pulling shots and think it would be fun to learn but is a little intimidating. So, is the touch impress a good machine to learn on? Looking forward to your recommendations, Thank you!
Hi Kelly, I feel like a one on one talk would be the most effective, because there are so many choices. Maybe start with a cheaper machine to learn on before splurging on one with more features. The Pro and Touch Impress steam the best. All make similar espresso. The Impress tamper is nice and convenient and clean. Let me know if you'd like more info. You can reach out at my email or Insta dm if you want. Good luck!
Have asked on another video….are separates better? Given the price …..Watching this video it seams…An unskilled new coffee fan can get straight into great tasting coffee or should one get skilled in separates?
I find the integrated machine much easier, to be honest. My wife prefers it, and I also like the streamlined workflow. Separates can eke out more I'd say, but the difference for me is not night and day. Also, I mostly like to make milk based drinks. Cheers!
Great review and thanks! Do I really need the features of the Impress if I just want to make Lattes and Cappuccinos? Or will the step down at $400 less do just fine? Do the drinks taste a lot better with this machine? This isn't as clear to me. Thanks, again!
No, you can make them with the Barista Express or Barista Express Impress as well. This machine mainly offers the advantage of a wizard on the touch screen to help those new to espresso. It also has newer burrs, and a great steam wand. But you can make very tasty drinks with the other machines I've mentioned, too.
I would say the big advantage this machine has over the other machines is the Barratza burrs which grinds beans much finer and creates a better cup of espresso. So yes it makes better drinks and its steam wand is superior to the Barista Express and allows for manual steaming as well. Lastly the machine grinds straight into the portafilter and tamps in the same place and measures the beans based on volumetrics so you will always get a great extraction.
I've read from owners of the Touch Impress that the hot water from the hot water spout is not hot enough. What was your experience when you were reviewing? Thanks
Define hot enough. For me it was more than hot enough, but I guess that's subjective. It's probably not hot enough to make a black tea, if that's what you mean. Cheers!
I noticed that the tamping on my machine is not that good, at least never even or straight. There is always somewhat moore coffee on the left side than on the rest of the puck. Is this a generic thing, or is it a problem with my machine?
I’m a new user too! And yes i got that as well. There’s another video said you can give the filter a shake before tamping it - which help it to get even.
Recently, I have a Delonghi Dedica, simple and space savy machine. I wanted something newer and was deciding between the Delonghi La Specialista Maestro and your reviewed Sage Barista Touch Impress. Mostly due to the dimensions, I decided to go for the Sage. Would you eventually compare it with the Delonghi Maestro, if the size would not be a deciding factor? Which one is a better machine overal? 🙂Thanks ....
Hi there! Well the grinder is better for sure on the BTI, and I think the milk steaming must also be better. Maybe I will get a Maestro someday, but I don't think it will compare favorably to the BTI. Cheers!
Question on the Barista Touch™ Impress: Can you remove the puck and stir to remove chunks / even out the pile, then put it back in the machine to tamp it or does the machine prevent this or will it screw up the program?
Great machine for the beginners, or for users who are just entering the Sage system. I've been using Sage Barista Pro for two years. Still no need to change anything. I can tamp myself, and I can steam manually too ;-)
I already own a flair 58 and sometimes I just want to get a coffee quickly, do you think it’s good idea to go on this one ? I already have a grinder (078s) Or maybe getting the old dual boiler ?
I am considering impress express, impress touch and bambino plus machines. I always wanted a super automatic one, but their super watery drinks are so underwhelming. 1. Do u know how much steam/water gets added to the steamed milk of either impress machines? 2. Can I use dark roast/oily beans in onboard griders? Thanks.
I'd say the Impress Touch infuses the least amount of water of those three, but the Dual Boiler is even much better - super dry steam. As for oily beans, I really cannot recommend them in any grinder, as they will gunk up burrs pretty quickly in my experience. But at least all three of the ones you mentioned can be opened and cleaned easily.
Hi! There are so many generic brands coming left and right from China. I honestly like to stick with brands that have established themselves. It's better for finding spare parts, and online communities generally form around well known products. How about the Fellow Opus or Baratza Encore ESP at that price? Those are two established brands.
Given how often you speak of the importance of a warmed up brew group on a machine, did your daily use reveal the need for any special steps each time you first started and pulled a first shot of the day, or can this touch impress simply be used immediately each morning?
Well, you really out to warm up the PF by pulling a couple of blank shots, regardless of machine. But I still find that a heated brew group edges out one that is not. Therefore I maintain that the BBE and BBE Impress can pull slightly sweeter shots than their other ThermoJet machines, like this one.
Wow, I'm surprised (and a bit disappointed) to hear that, as I thought I might have found the perfect machine in this new Touch Impress. Even without the new Baratza grind blades and better steam wand, would you recommend the BBE Impress over this machine? @@TomsCoffeeCorner
Well, you can start a manual shot, to control the volume, but I have not seen pre-infusion settings. The Sage/Breville machines are unique anyway, in that they actually send a steam blast as a pre-infusion, instead of only limiting the pump. You see the steam blast in the video at 3:13
would you say that this is the best coffee machine for home use? Is this much better then phlipis 5400 series? Because i already have philips 5400 series, and i want upgrade from this one..
Can i ask you , i know you have sage barista - standard one :) how about comparison with this one? I mean of course here is lots of options but how about taste of cappuccino for example? How about milk foaming? Is there big difference in final result?? Maybe you can make a comparison video to have people understand what is really difference between standard and last one?…)
I did in fact compare them in another video. The milk frothing is much better on the BTI, and it has some great ergnonomic features. I'd give the edge to the original BBE though for espresso.
No, I didn't do the pressurized ones. Those would be good if I had some old coffee, but I don't. Just be sure to grind coarse enough, so they don't get clogged.
Hey tom, bit unrelated to the video but I figured if anyone knows, it's probably you. anyway shots on my dedica are coming out way too acidic even in the regular 25-30 second range. using a ratio of 1:2 and freshly roasted coffee left to degas. Temperature surfing doesn't help much. grinding coarse and aiming for a faster brew time /higher ratio also hasn't helped much. using a fellow opus grinder and wdt
Hi there! It sounds like you're doing everything right. Is that a lighter roast? You can try the steam mode hack: ruclips.net/user/shorts8GO1b94CgN4?feature=share Some roasts in my experience just are on the acidic side though, even for machines that bring more heat. You could try pulling a 1:3 ratio and seeing if that will add enough at the end to balance it out a bit.
Watching your videos I buyed it but I regret because my expresso is very very very bad taste...non drinkable without sugar. Any recommendation what type of use beans roasted more or less...more oily beans or not etc. I have a philips 5400 series so expressos with it are not that strong so they can be drinked without sugar too. My expressos with touch impress have foam like yours...but they are too strong and I grind them with 8th option and they start to come within 6 sec and finish with 26-30 sec as per rules but very strong - hard to drink. Also how I can get good foam with automatic milk system - where to put that pipe in that can in middle or middle on near etc. Please give me more details I want to master better of using this machine.
Well, there is a big difference here. The Barista Touch makes actual espresso, which IS strong. The Philips does not make real espresso. So it might take some time to get used to. You could consider using the single basket, to reduce your dose - that might help. I suggest putting the steam wand to the side of the milk pitcher, not in the middle. Cheers!
I've bought this machine last week question 1) do you think I can remove the plastic from the portafilter without affecting the sensor for tampering/grinding or what do you recommend as I dislike plastic in there .. 2) my machine is somehow asking to tamper and grind again and again. I thought is gonna remember after my first dial in But is requesting it all times, is there something I'm missing 😮 help
Well, you can try a bottomless portafilter. I use a Normcore. As for the adaptive dosing, I'd suggest choosing a shallower basket. But anyway, you don't have to grind more. If you're satisfied with the amount, you can tamp and call it good. I do that often, to get a 16 gram dose, instead of 18-19.
Ok so i have been using the machine since this morning for the first time but I have a question. Can you increase the temperature of the hot water spout for Tea drinks beyond the pretty underwhelming Low and High options. I have a friend who likes his tea very hot and the high option is pretty pathetic for him. Please tell me there's a way?
Ok, I went and measured today on the high setting and got 73 celsius for the hot water option. But what you could do, is fill your cup with hot water, then steam it with the steamer. That's what I do on the Bambino Plus anyway.
Tom… I need some advice. I have owned a Breville Oracle Touch for a couple of years now. It has been pretty good and a decent WAF. However the shots are very very inconsistent. I can dial in a grind perfectly … then find 2 shots later it is way way off. I wind up having to weigh and time every shot and besides it being a lot of work it is very wasteful. My question is whether you think this Barista Touch Impress might be more consistent and give better results. ?? Thanks .
I'd say that's about right. But that's what ends up in the cup, that's not the extraction temp. It cools down very quickly once exiting the portafilter.
You can hold down on the espresso button for 5 seconds, to start a manual shot, and you can stop it then when you want. Measure your extraction and aim for 2:1 ratio of brewed espresso to powder, in about 25-30 seconds, as a ballpark figure to start.
My new Sage Barista Touch Impress machine arrived today and everything seems to be working fine apart from the following. When putting the portafilter into the loading dock, is it normal to have 25mm - 30mm sideways movement & also some up and down movement. When tamping the portafilter moves slightly up and down? I have not noticed this on your RUclips video. Apart from the above everything is working normally and I have “dialed in” very quickly using fresh coffee beans.
Changed beans and increased grind size but now I have to press grind about 10 times before it dispenses enough. I’ve made a dozen shots and it still won’t calibrate to grind the proper amount. Anyone have a solution?
Man thanks for all the amazing review I am torn between the Barista Pro vs Barista Epresss Impress From my understanding, the pro has the better steam wand with 4 hole compared to 1 on the express impress. Also has more grind settings Whats pulling me towqards the impress is the tamping. Like i believe thats the biggest problem with my current flow. no matter how hard i try, my tamp is always a bit tilted as i fail to apply pressure on center. There is always a slight incline to my puck. Impresses auto tamping will resolve that. How different are the steam wands between the impress and pro ?
The Pro has the WAY better steam wand. But I feel the espresso is better on the Express, Express Impress in comparison to the Pro, mainly because the former passively heats the brew group over time.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner I won't be keeping my machine on long enough for thry to happen :p I pull two shots per day. But the auto tamping is really making me consider the impress... But better grinder and better steam.. The choices are hard 😂
@@TomsCoffeeCorner How is the steaming capabilities of express and express impress compared to delonghi dedica ? I currently have a dedica and can hardly get any sily froth
I'd like to emphasize here, that while the manual milk frothing is amazing, the automatic milk frothing does not make the milk as creamy and silky (see the difference at 10:53).

Does the IMS H28 basket fits in the original portafilter?
Yes it does.@@christianpauwels8385
Great review. I really consider to buy this machine. I have a Saeco incanto automatic from 2017 now. I use fresh roasted beans all the time, but I think it’s quite a waste with my current machine. Got a bambino+ currently and my wife is keen on this. Will I miss the manual-ness of the bambino+?!? I love my wee machine!
Very nice review and overview. My only observation is that the pulled shot has to be getting cold after 81+ seconds to froth the milk. I think this is where the double boiler could really come in handy?
That's true, it does cool off by that time. But you could steam your milk a little hotter to help make up for it. And pre-heat your cups.
Well, the results will be similar, but with the Barista Express, you have less mess, since everything is integrated. Cheers!
Excellent review as usual. Just a heads up, the US Breville link is not working.
I just placed my order for this beauty of a machine. Can't wait for it to arrive!
Do you like it so far?
@@KeatonWard It's phenomenal! The on screen guidance made it all a breeze and the coffee tastes better than the coffee shops near me!
Hello! Excellent review thank you, I was jusg wondering how do we gauge the temperature of the milk when using manual frothing?
I just purchased this machine and looking forward to it. I’m experienced with espresso machines having had a few models going back many years. I’m still using the an old manual that has been serviced once but ready for something new and different. I chose this model because it has a better grinder and steaming wand than most of the Breville models and the touch screen will definitely be fun to use. I understand that the machine can’t pre-warm your cup or portafilter. I won’t know if it will make a considerable difference until I use the machine. If so, I’ll have to find another way to fo it. Any thoughts here?
I bought a used Jura cup warmer for $60. Otherwise, I just let out 1-2 shots of water into my cup from the brew group to warm it. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Thanks for the típ!
Honestly I think it's a branding thing. I have the feeling that Etzinger makes burrs for both Baratza and Sage. Cheers!@@metaidentity
Great video. Defo not for me but I think you nailed who could use it.
Sure thing! Here is a video doing it on the Express Impress, which is the same, besides the manometer. ruclips.net/video/LZJN3SvjOW0/видео.html
Thanks for amazing review!
Thanks
Tom is finally in 60 fps. Exelent:)

Thank you
Sure you can, but you'll need a funnel attachment: ruclips.net/video/V58Xs6h_eVU/видео.htmlsi=V51YGjNDoO6s8HHN
I think the inner burr collar was set at 3, and the outer adjustment around 10-12.
Thanks for the video! I love your reviews. I am trying to decide between this one and the Barista touch. Is it worth the extra $500? What’s the biggest difference? We’re beginner espresso users
It's mainly a better steam wand, but the Touch already had a good steam wand. The display is nicer on the new BTI, but not worth another $500 imho.
FYI I would love to know what you ended up choosing. The touch impress does have a better grinder (baratza burrs) compared to the touch as we as the barista guidance for a newbie is really helpful
How is the taste of the long coffee? Is it just like americano?
how to I adjust the dose, I get19 gram at the green bar (assist tamp), I want to reduce to 16 gram at the green bar.
Good question. I think all you can do is use a smaller basket, since you cannot set a timer on this one.
Cheers!
Awesome review. Thank you. Question. Assuming I have a good pre ground coffee, can I use it on this machine?
Sure you can with the pressurized baskets. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thank you very much!
great video. awesome manual mode. i have some great auto mik ones too,
Can you have the automatic milk frothing running at the same time as extracting?
Thank you for the video. The machine is finally available in Switzerland, just ordered mine 😋. Unfortunately you have no link for Switzerland, otherwise I would surely have ordered it through your link. And by the way, very well done video: short but very informativ! All I am missing, is just an example of using the automated drink programs.
Thanks! Maybe I will make a video with all the drinks. Do you have Amazon in Switzerland, or how do you order?
No Amazon, unfortunately. Selling is done bei Stores@@TomsCoffeeCorner
Partner acceptance factor!... the most important factor haha.. I'm torn between a Rocket Appartamento and this. But I know my wife isn't going to use the Rocket and I'll be stuck making 2 coffees every morning for the foreseeable future. This machine seems like a great middle ground.
Can you auto steam the milk while pulling the espresso shot?
Hi tom, i really enjoy watching your videos its full of tips and always helpfull.
I just got my touch impress this monday and love the machine so far. My only complaint will be the shot temperature. Even set at +4 the shot come out not hot. I've try to preheat with hot water my cup doesn't work either. I was wondering if you experience any issues
Have you pre-heated the brew group and the glasses too? It's plenty hot for me.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner i feel dumb but i didn't know that. Still new in thie esspresso world. How can i do that. Just run water down the group head and the porta filter ? Thanks for your time and your tips 😊
Sure, just keep the empty PF in the brew group, and let 1-2 shots through it, with no coffee. It'll warm everything up.@@rockshow84
@TomsCoffeeCorner thank you very much. I've tried it, and it works. Coffee is perfectly warm to my taste ty ty ☕️☕️
Also, the jug is dry and well position on the sensor… Thank you 😊
I got mine yesterday, and I love it! ☕️🤩
Mine doesn’t have cafe crema or long black?
My favorite word of the day is NICE!! Word count= 10 😀...Very Nice
Hmm, now do I upgrade my Barista Pro to the Touch Impress?!?
Questions, questions...If you want to save money then get the Pro, as it's got a nice steam wand too, and you can do most of the same things, just without the integrated tamper.
Tom, what is your grind setting, water temperature, and steam setting? I would like to use your numbers as a baseline. 😂
Inner burr at 3, outer setting around 10, default water temp, and steaming I prefer to do manually. Cheers!
Can't decide which to buy This one (1200€) or express impress (829€) or delonghi la specialista prestigio ec9355(829€) what would you buy Tom?
I'd probably get the Express Impress. Cheers!
Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thanks Tom. My wife could well agree with yours.
Thanks for your video! May I please know what temperature and froth level of your settings for the automatic milk frothing?
Hi! I like to use 60 degrees C, and a froth level of 3-4. Cheers!
Cheers!
What to pick? Sage Barista Pro or Touch Impress?
I think the Pro offers the best value honestly.
A shake is not handy. Because when you take out the portafilter, you will always spill some coffee
Only if you use the Breville funnel. Then it works. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Perfect - Thank You
I would have liked to see you weigh the dose - anyone know how much coffee it asks for when it shows green?
It's about 18 grams, +/- 1 gram depending on the roast level of the beans. Cheers!
How this machine compares with Ninja Lux?
Great machine for the beginners, or for users who are just entering the Sage system. I've been using Sage Barista Pro for two years. Still no need to change anything. I can tamp myself, and I can steam manually too ;-)
I prefer to steam manually myself, and the Pro and Touch are great manually steaming machines as well.
I already own a flair 58 and sometimes I just want to get a coffee quickly, do you think it’s good idea to go on this one ? I already have a grinder (078s)
Or maybe getting the old dual boiler ?
No in that case, if you have the 078s, get the Dual Boiler. It's better than this one.
I don’t know what pressurized and non pressurized baskets mean, and which I should choose to use. Any advice?
Unpressurized for freshly roasted beans, and pressurized for older, more stale beans. Fresher beans provide more pressure on their own.

Can you make a review for HiBrew machines especially g5 grinder it has a very good price but I’m not an expert
Thank you for your good reviews
Hi! There are so many generic brands coming left and right from China. I honestly like to stick with brands that have established themselves. It's better for finding spare parts, and online communities generally form around well known products. How about the Fellow Opus or Baratza Encore ESP at that price? Those are two established brands.
Didn’t you said it remembers the grind Phuk amount? So why did you had to grind alittle more the second time you did it.
It still varies a bit, and so it might need to add some. Sometimes it also doses too much, due to the variance, which can be annoying.
I’m planning to open small coffee ☕️ shop, will this machine work for me?
I really think you'll need a dual boiler. Good luck!
Why a dual boiler, and dose this Machine have that option? If not, which machine will you recommend?
Just to clarify, you mentioned that the temperature was 65 degrees. Can you confirm if it was in Celsius?
Yes, 65 celsius on the milk frothing.
Subscribed, liked and thank you so much.
Hi Tom. Does the Touch Impress allow user adjustment of pre-infusion time?
Well, you can start a manual shot, to control the volume, but I have not seen pre-infusion settings. The Sage/Breville machines are unique anyway, in that they actually send a steam blast as a pre-infusion, instead of only limiting the pump. You see the steam blast in the video at 3:13

And also there is a Sage Oracle touch? Is it same machine? What I noticed the is no pressing thing in there 😅
I did in fact compare them in another video. The milk frothing is much better on the BTI, and it has some great ergnonomic features. I'd give the edge to the original BBE though for espresso.
Did you try the pressurized shots. Having trouble getting them to work properly
No, I didn't do the pressurized ones. Those would be good if I had some old coffee, but I don't. Just be sure to grind coarse enough, so they don't get clogged.
can you share what kind of coffee bean (brand) you used?
I usually use Dinzler Roma or Il Gustoso. Cheers!
I heard some consistent weird noise when you were steaming the milk. Is that normal?
Everything is normal, yes. Every vibratory pump thermocoil/thermojet machine pumps like that while steaming.
Can you extract and weigh milk at the same time?
Do you mean extract and steam milk at the same time? No, that’s not possible.
You can try the steam mode hack: ruclips.net/user/shorts8GO1b94CgN4?feature=share
Some roasts in my experience just are on the acidic side though, even for machines that bring more heat.
Cheers!
What settings on inside grinder and on the screen are you using?
Inside set at 3, on the screen 10-12.
Thanks u
Ok so i have been using the machine since this morning for the first time but I have a question. Can you increase the temperature of the hot water spout for Tea drinks beyond the pretty underwhelming Low and High options. I have a friend who likes his tea very hot and the high option is pretty pathetic for him. Please tell me there's a way?
Ok, I went and measured today on the high setting and got 73 celsius for the hot water option. But what you could do, is fill your cup with hot water, then steam it with the steamer. That's what I do on the Bambino Plus anyway.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner That is a brilliant idea. Thank you!
I got the idea from a fellow commenter. 👍@@LoganScottY
?? Thanks .
I don't think so, no. You give up control to the adaptive dosing, and you cannot adjust it. Sorry!
@tomscoffeecorner Can u check what temp your espresso is extracting at . My machine on the hottest is only going to 70 degrees Celsius
I'd say that's about right. But that's what ends up in the cup, that's not the extraction temp. It cools down very quickly once exiting the portafilter.
Anyone else having issues with the coffee temperature with the touch impress
excellent content. thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Is it normal for the machine to stop at 16 grams? I keep on getting its brewing to fast message and I already have it on #7 grind.
You can hold down on the espresso button for 5 seconds, to start a manual shot, and you can stop it then when you want. Measure your extraction and aim for 2:1 ratio of brewed espresso to powder, in about 25-30 seconds, as a ballpark figure to start.
whats your take on using a puck paper filter?
I don’t know, I’ve used them before, in some videos, to try to reduce spray. I don’t really notice it taste difference myself, to be honest.
Oh sure, there's some play there for the PF in the dock. That's not an issue. There in fact has to be play for the 'polish'.
I just bought one of those!
thanks
Changed beans and increased grind size but now I have to press grind about 10 times before it dispenses enough. I’ve made a dozen shots and it still won’t calibrate to grind the proper amount. Anyone have a solution?
Maybe try going to the setting and re calibration to the beans
@@Lara4584 tried that. Problem resolved now: fresher beans fixed it. Don’t get the Costco bulk bag

I am torn between the Barista Pro vs Barista Epresss Impress
From my understanding, the pro has the better steam wand with 4 hole compared to 1 on the express impress.
Also has more grind settings
Whats pulling me towqards the impress is the tamping.
