You can eliminate the lcd flicker by fixing your shutter speed to something like 1/30s. You have to dial in the machine when it’s new, new coffee, and micro adjustments as the beans age in the hopper/bag. Does it track bean age and alter grind size to compensate?
This screen was refreshing at a very odd rate. At any shutter faster than 1 second it was flickering something terrible. No, it doesn’t track bean age, a click finer or coarser may be required from time to time, but very easy to track based on the shot times you’re seeing
@@LifestyleLab_ oh that might be VRR usually used in battery powered devices. If the screen isn’t updating much it will clock down to like 1Hz. I think my Nikon z8 analyzes this and can compensate to eliminate it but might just be for 60Hz sources. Thanks for the reply! Liked and subbed. I’m still rocking the 870 from like a decade ago.
For anyone looking for a home machine in this price range - this machine is incredible. Just do it! I own a cafe and work with $12,000 Faema Prestige (2 group) with an automatic steam wand on one end - the automatic steam wand on this Breville Barista Touch Impress is better than Faema's commercial grade automatic wand. There's virtually no heat up time, and it produces consistently great coffee every single time with zero room for error. The manual steam power was the most important factor for me when buying a home machine. While the steam isn't as powerful as a commercial machine, or even home dual boilers, it's more than enough power to pump out amazing drinks. Couldn't be happier with this purchase. I have the Black version, it's a gorgeous machine.
Just purchased this exact model last weekend and I am so happy with it!! I didn’t want to have to learn to “ pull shots”, properly steam milk or anything. I just wanted to be able to make cappuccinos at home whenever I wanted. This machine takes all the guesswork out of doing so. It’s so easy to use all three of my teenagers are using it as well. It’s sleek and stylish looking in my kitchen, and has satisfied my wanting coffee bar quality drinks at home.
I have been waiting for this official review. I bought the machine just over a month ago and LOVE IT. As a total rookie with a baby in hand every morning I’m creating microfoam and pretty decent latte art since the machine reallly helps in the areas I need help in. I bought the impress and immediately took it back and went and bought this touch impress and am SO glad I did!!! The way it can give that tip on grind size and obviously the milk were two huge factors to justify the extra cost. My local coffee shops are probably going under now that I’m not a frequent customer ;)
I can't say I've seen a more professional review on RUclips ever. Very well done sir. I got me a Touch Impress online today. I have ZERO barista experience, and usually just get by with instant coffee. Looking forward to elevating my grind and my brews. Also, love the way you said MilQ. Had to pause for a good minute and LOL.
I really appreciate the pitch-perfect approach to describing this machine to the right consumer but in a way that a wide range of home coffee lovers appreciate! Thanks!!
I've since upgraded to a Linea Micra but it's still interesting and mind blowing how well Breville makes it so easy and intuitive for beginners. The fact that it "tests and monitors" whether or not your grind setting is right is crazy.
As pervious owner of Sage Barista Express - Breville=Sage, I would appreciate more better built quality that leads to longer than 2 years in service and reliable customer service than "useful" features that inevitably rise demands on maintenance side, leads to cost cuts where customer does not see but will experience it sooner or later. Fun to use until it brakes. And it will if you make your coffee on regular basis. If you care about taste and don't want to have bean to cup machine you will also ask questions, like where is properly scaled pressure gauge? Is OPV working? Also if you care about taste you will seek information what is needed to make coffee taste as it should. And passion for coffee I feel ;)
I think a really useful part of these reviews might to get a run through of a typical coffee that you make with it in realtime with the real audio - see what it might be like to actually use this thing.
Ver true. I bought my Bezzera machine because of many yt reviews and in the end I was shocked how heating up or using the vibration pump sounds like. Most videos have music or someone talking in the background and very few show how real life use sounds like
@@damiangrouse4564 It's not for entertainment lol it's so I could actually hear what sounds the machine makes and how it'd be to use in the most practical sense. One problem I have with most of these machines is the annoyingly loud pump. Some machines isolate the vibrations/noise better than others.
I have owned my Touch Impress for a few months now. I owned a $99 dollar espresso machine in the past. It was crap and, thus, never used it. I got tired of paying Bigbucks $8 a day for my quad latte. I am a novice and don't want to spend months perfecting my skill. I don't want several machines to make one drink. I don't want to spend 2k or way more on a machine. This all in one is a breeze to use and I make a consistent large, quad latte every day in less than 10 minutes. Cleanup is quick and simple. My biggest challenge was finding fresh roasted beans that I like but finally did.
Great video. Very well explained. The audio and video quality are fantastic. Straight forward and not just a bunch of going back and forth. Breville needs to pay you for this video.
We saw this unit at Williams-Sonoma a few months ago and were blown away by the product demo provided by Breville - we discussed the purchase for two months and then finally picked up one - the more we use it the more we love it! Highly recommend!!! A large purchase that will be used daily at home!
I just got this, and I LOVE it! Started using it yesterday, and so far it has given me some fantastic americanos and some really great oat milk lattes. I choose to steam manually because the minimum amount required for auto-steaming is too much for me. With this machine, you can basically forget about warmup, just turn it on and go. Pretty tiny footprint, too. It took me a long time to decide to get a machine like this, since I'm a pour-over purist, but this little coffee machine is fun to play with and produces barista-level results...and I don't even have a beard and tattoos! hahaha
hi! as a fellow pour-over purist who is seriously considering getting this machine, I'm curious -- do you use both? did you make a full switch to espresso? thanks!
If you’re struggling to get adequate extraction, yes, preheating the portafilter will absolutely help. However, these machines do internally brew a little hotter to compensate for the non-heated group head, so if you’re happy with the taste you’re getting you’re not missing out by letting things be
I’m a total newbie and not a coffee snob at all. I currently use a Nespresso and drinks mostly lattes. I keep going back and forth between the Bambino Plus, Touch and Touch Impress. I feel like my goals don’t warrant spending $1500, but I also think the ease of use would be better for me. What do you recommend? I keep going back on forth on how much of a hobby I want to make this. My main goal is to have a little more fun making my latte and have more control over the milk froth and temp and possibly explore other drinks. I will be keeping my Nespresso as well.
After having used various manual options; AeroPress, Moka pot, Hario V60 switch, V60 dripper, etc., I am soon going for the Touch Impress, easier, consistent and less fuss......
I'm upset at the RUclips algorithms for not recommending this video earlier! Very nice model, Breville knocked it out of the park and so have you with this review, LifeStyle Lab team! I wonder what you think regarding this vs the non-touch Oracle BES980. Here in Australia we're lucky to have them both at a relatively affordable 2000 AUD or about 1300 USD. I sell and repair these machines here in Melbourne Victoria. I know my answer as to how the Touch Impress and Oracle compare and their pros and cons, but wanting to hear from you and other users. I'm not exactly sure what differences occur in steaming choosing oat setting vs dairy for example, is it just marketing? Newer Oracle Touch model, I can confirm, now have Baratza marketing as well as MilQ (ability to select type of milk in menus just like Touch Impress). It's certainly a tough choice. Fully Auto low maintenance speedy single boiler vs a more capable but complex dual boiler. Decisions decisions...
If you’re making primarily milk drinks, and not enough at a time to take advantage of the dual boiler on the Oracle, then this machine is an easy choice. If you’re making straight espresso, or need the capacity of a dual boiler (4+ drinks at a time I’d day) then you might want to consider the Oracle if your budget allows
I have the Pro model and the problem is that the grinder doesn’t always grind the same amount of coffee beans. So if the grinder in this machine also relies on time (specific set time it will grind the beans) instead of weight of the ground coffee, the results will be inconsistent, no matter how well you calibrate.
Make sure you hopper is always full to the same amount. Also, changing grind setting will impact how much is ground in the same amount of time. On this machine, it takes this into account. On the Pro, you must take note and adjust accordingly
Great review, so clear, factual and to the point. Was considering an Oracle instead but you have put my mind at rest that this is the better option for me. Thanks
A really excellent presentation. Clear, concise and no unnecessary verbiage. As a current pod user looking for a step up in taste without to much complexity this looks like the perfect machine for me. However in reading reviews on Amazon (and I recognize their limitations) two concerns emerge. Automatic machines in general seem to have quality control/reliability problems and poor customer service and Breville seems one of the worst in both regards. I wish reviewers would speak to reliability and customer service issues more in their reviews.
I have owned every single Breville machine and went taken care of I've had absolutely zero issues. I think that the increase in complaints you see about their brand is really purely a factor of economies of scale and how many hundreds of thousands of machines they sell every year compared to competitor brands. The more you sell, the more complaints emerge.
@@LifestyleLab_ Good point.....I realize those who experience problems tend to be more vocal than those who don't. That said, the frequent complaints about poor customer service when those (hopefully rare) problems occur are concerning.
@pete3953 unfortunately I can't comment on the customer service because I haven't personally experienced it. I do know Brevilles are difficult to have serviced locally which is certainly a pain
Your videos are top-notch, brother! Seriously, it's more informative and insightful than the silly videos Breville has on their own product pages! It's because of you that I'm returning my Breville Express and going to splurge on the touch impress. I'm sold! However, I saw on Amazon that there are a lot of negative reviews regarding bugs/durability and issues, - what's been your experience?
I have the Barista Touch and I can tell that the software is a lot more customizable on this machine. I tend to make sprovers with my machine but it will be nice to have a setting for a long pre-infusion. The Impress Touch would be a nice upgrade over the Barista Touch.
gotta say this is a great review. thanks for taking the time to go thru it in such detail. In the market for a upgrade from a pod machine to an auto and this seems perfect. i especially like the 'auto' puck feature which is a bit of a game changer. thats the main reason i want auto vs manual. i just dont have the time, nor skill to try and get it right in the mornings or when we have friends over (ie grind, tamp, mess, repeat - no more with this). this seems to make sure you get it right every time after dialing it in. thanks again
Can you address puck prep/wet with this machine? I bought one for Christmas. Love it. Turns out you cannot use dosing funnels as the grinder computer switches off. So WDT is problematic/difficult. I guess Breville thinks it's not necessary. Do you skip puck prep with this machine?
Thank you for a great review. I’m in a dilemma of what to get! Very much interested in the Breville Touch Impress also the De’Longhi La Specialista Maestro, Breville has a wider grind size range. Delonghi fits in taller cups which is important for me. I’m also interested in a super automatic, such as the Philips 4400 (easy cleaning) Delonghi Dinamica Plus simply for their convenience and support taller cups. Early morning preps are just a button away. Both my wife and I enjoy black coffee and occasional flat whites or cappuccinos. Still looking for my answer…
Can count the Maestro out. Terrible value for money. If you're mainly drinking black coffee, why not get something like a Moccamaster and a nice grinder, and then a small machine like the bambino for your occasional milk drinks?
I thought the Maestro was a good contender for what I saw… Shortlist to Super Automatics then for something easy and quick considering my wife will also use it. One machine preferrable. Breville still on the list and see how we will cope with cup preference, moving around I use my travel mug so will need to pour into that when needed (super autos can accommodate that).
@SalahAlHidiq All comes down to what your priority is! Based on what you're saying, I'd check out the new Ninja Luxe Cafe that just launched. I have a first look video. Can do all drink types and sizes, and accommodate appropriate mugs etc
Latte: All into one Lg. Mug.Microwave wilk to warm, run a double shot, add .5 teaspoons sugar. Run machine to clean filter and head. Done. It "is" that easy. Best, D.
Have they replaced the top of the drip tray? On the Barista Touch it is a fake chrome so if you slide your glass over it it will scrape up very easily. I learnt very quickly not to slide but to simply place it where you want it if you want to keep things looking nice.
We have the Breville/sage top model from the time which is bean to cup etc. you don’t need the touch screen. Ours is still going strong and makes a better cup of coffee than you can buy anywhere. When we are on holiday the only reason we want to come home is our coffee maker. I think it was supposed to cost £1600 at the time, worth every penny.
Just like the Barista Pro, this uses the thermojet heating system, so no the top of the machine does not get warm This is a single heating loop machine, you cannot brew and steam at the same time. Only the Dual Boiler and Oracle can do that, as mentioned in the conclusion :)
@@LifestyleLab_ Interesting....I would have thought some fix would be implemented to get the cup warmer working...however, it's no issue...you can use hot water to quickly get the job done at the expense of using more water
Looks like a solid machine. It is a bit pricy though. My niche zero + bambino plus setup costs a bit less. That is to say you could get a good enough machine and a great grinder (doesn’t have to be niche) for that money. It does look tempting though. Sometimes I feel like single dosing and doing puck prep is a bit too much just to get a cup of coffee early in the morning.
Great video, I used Breville Barista Express Espresso machine for more than 8 years and now it is not working all of sudden yesterday. It works but the water pressure is weak and there are no pressure at all. Anyways can I use this machine with manually like mine?
A great machine for someone new to the Sage/Breville Barista system. I have been using Sage Barista Pro for several years, this new machine does not introduce anything revolutionary that would make me want to buy it. But for new users of the system it is a very good proposition. Automation, unfortunately, does not relieve you of the knowledge of how to prepare the right espresso.
Thank you for the review. Were you suggesting the thermo jet system in this is from the barista pro @2:55 didn't the original barista touch also have the upgraded thermo jet? I'm interested to know the differences in the differences in the thermo jet between original touch and the pro.
Wonderful video, thank you! I make cappuccino and latte with ikaffe oatly. Do you have a video that teaches how to successfully make those drinks with oat milk such as ikaffe oatly ?
You’ll just need to select the oat milk setting when steaming. Otherwise the machine walks you through the process of pulling the espresso shot and setting the milk temp and texture settings :)
Over the very old generations that people complain about the grinders on, there has been significant improvement. Seems like since they acquired Baratza
Fantastic video. I was sold on this one until I started reading reddit reviews discussing the unreliability of about 10% of these machines- wet pucks, bad espresso, etc.. Have you heard anything like this since you posted your review?
Here’s my broad thoughts on things like this. The more popular a machine is, the more complaints you’re inevitably going to hear. Breville is a prime example. I have owned every single one of their machines, and if taken care of properly, they last a very long time. But there are endless numbers of people complaining about reliability and performance. The more popular a machine is, the more entry-level, uninformed, inexperienced users there are going to be which leads to more complaints. The Touch Impress does not have muddy pucks if the basket is dosed properly like any other espresso machine. Espresso, also like any other machine will depend on your pock prep and grinder quality.
I bought this machine less than a month ago and it is plagued with problems. Every-time I use the auto milk function, the machine abruptly shuts off and flashes the error code ER09. According to other customers on Reddit, this is a very common problem. I also noticed that there was visible arcing around the temperature sensor for the milk.
Very good review, I just would have liked to hear a few words about the new grinder in this machine. At least it is the first one with Baratza burrs. Did you felt any difference in grind consistence in comparison to the other machines? At least that’s a complaint that I’ve heard from previously sage models?
Could you tell me the exact width and depth of the touch impress compared to the express impress? I am asking because specs in the sage/breville website seem to me not accurate. Thank you so much for all your videos
I think the plastic knobs are a Breville trait. Lol I love their appliances and own 3. Currently waiting on my Touch (that will be my 4th) that's on backorder. But yes. All of my current appliances have chrome finished plastic knows, which feel sort of cheap. Otherwise, I have fallen for the brand.
Hello, i bought this two months ago, this week, my grinder is overflowing the coffee, I have to stop it. I called Breville , they want me to send it over for service call. I am not happy with not having coffee for 2 weeks, do you have any suggestions? I appreciate it.
Are you sure you didn't accidentally put it into manual mode? If not, the grinder should adjust the time accordingly within 2-3 shots. The grinding volume was likely too much for the shot because you adjusted the grind size coarser, or switched to a darker coffee which takes up more space! See this video about basket capacity: ruclips.net/video/NLbaT2saJwA/видео.html
Great review! Did you find the espresso gets hot enough? There's reviews online saying it doesn't. That's a long-standing problem with Breville machines.
@@LifestyleLab_ Oh, ok. I have the Bambino. Would you say the Touch Impress makes espresso better enough to justify the difference in price? I don't use the frother.
@theodosios2615 no need to get the Impress if you're not using the steaming. Instead, invest in a great grinder. The grinder is what makes 80% of the impact to espresso quality.
There will be a head to head coming soon, but watch our Oracle jet review in the meantime! I make many references back to the touch impress in that video
Great review! …I’ve had mine for a couple weeks and love it, however the only issue I’ve had is that no matter what I try my pre-infusion is 3/4 seconds before coffee starts to appear. I use fresh espresso beans, double basket and have adjusted sizes and temperature - I’ve tried 2 different bean types but get the same result. Do you think my machine is faulty?
I don't think so. The dual boiler makes a huge difference! I have the Barista Touch at home and the Oracle Touch at work and I am rarely using that one at home, cause the Oracle is so much better and consistent
I really like the machine. Price wise, it is in range with the Delonghi La Specialista Maestro. Delonghi has now a cold brew too, but that's not a distinguishing factor for me. I prefer consistent results, foam quality, etc. So - which one would you suggest?
@@LifestyleLab_ So I have bought the machine, and am finding myself exactly in this group of customers you have described - trouble dialing it in, after 1 hour demoing with friends thinking even about returning it, but don't want to give up just yet 🙂 I still have to decide, if I should use a single wall or dual wall filter and second - the real trouble is getting the extraction into to the 25-30 sec ballpark. On my old Delonghi Dedica, I have just holded the button and it programmed itself for a certain time. I think the Bambino can do the same. Why can't I simply tell the Touch impress machine to extract for those 25-30 secs, or can I?
Because the Breville is programmed based on shot SIZE not shot TIME. Follow the instructions inside the machine’s touch screen to dial in the correct grind size for your coffee. Grind size determines shot time through the flow rate it allows.
I will, but to summarize, they have the same capabilities and can produce the exact same quality drinks. On the Pro you need to learn how to do it manually, on this machine you’re paying for it to do it all for you from day 1
Question on the Barista Touch Impress: Can you remove the puck and stir to remove chunks / even out the pile, then put it back in the machine to tamp it or does the machine prevent this or will it screw up the program?
Hi. I have to get the Touch Impress so my wife can use this machine easily in the morning for her coffee/latte before she heads off to the office. She would not want to fuss with too many manual prep. I on the other hand am stuck with the touch impress but was wondering if I can have a workflow outside of the touch impress? eg use a dosing cup that would slide into the grinder use a WDT then distributer (if necessary) then spring action tamp then slot the PF in and pull the shot? Thanks Pat
You’re absolutely not “stuck”, it’s still a great machine. I have a video on how to WDT with this machine using a dosing funnel, and you can steam fully manually as well :)
Not unless you’re unhappy with the workflow. If you’re itching to upgrade, buy a new grinder! That is the largest determining factor on your espresso and drink quality
Hi. Long time viewer, first time commenter. Are you able to do a shot with a bottomless portafilter so we can see how good the Breville's engineering is?
A bottomless portafilter shot won't tell you so much about the machine as it will your puck prep and dialing in. Nonetheless, lots in this video :) ruclips.net/video/LY4BTQPNFWo/видео.html
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉Thank you so much. I waited until I could justify such a huge purchase, and now, after your review I feel calm and ready. I'm subscribed and truly appreciate your review for those of us over 50 😮
As a coffee nerd I need to have control over every step in espresso making and milk streaming.. So is this the right machine for me? Can I still able to use wdt and distributor and do even tamping? And how accurate the grinder in dialling in? Can I dial it in manually? What is the size of the basket? Do they still stick to 53 size?
If you’re looking for full manual control, I’d recommend just saving the money and going with the Barista Pro! This model you’re losing manual control, but gaining convenience and ease of use
How's the responsiveness of the touch screen? it seems kinda laggy when you swiped left right and made selections. That's a turn off for such a nice machine they developed...then cheaped out on a processor for a smooth UI. Thoughts?
Much like the flickering, any lagging is more likely a result of the camera frame rate. Screen was quite responsive and absolutely not sluggish or distracting
Great vid I’m looking at getting a upgrade from my Nespresso machine. Was looking at the touch impress all the Brewster touch but leaning towards the touch impress. What are your recommendations?
Definitely go with the Touch Impress, it'll be the most direct replacement for your Nespresso just with much much better drink quality. It takes away much of the frustration and improves workflow
@@LifestyleLab_ thanks will this machine in your opinion also allow me to do a lot of manual coffee as well if I feel creative. Thanks for your time I appreciate it.
@danelojek915 what exactly do you mean by manual coffee? :) Puck prep will always be handled by the machine, but you have full control over the brew recipe, milk steaming, and of course drink pouring :)
@@LifestyleLab_ thanks so much for your help and advice I’ve decided to invest in one of these machines fact that it has full automatic mode and that I can have control over extraction time and steaming if I want to get creative love you I’ll keep up the great work
Does the pre-infusion begin for a few seconds before the on-screen timer actually starts on your machine? When I run a blank shot, my machine releases water for 2/3 seconds and then the on-screen timer appears.. then 3/4 seconds pass before I see the first drop of coffee. Is this long enough for a good pre-infusion? Ive contacted Breville as I think my machine is faulty as no matter what fresh beans I use, I always see coffee flow at around 4 seconds (on-screen) - if I go finer I get drips and an over extracted shot.
This is just how the pre-infusion is programmed. I like that they integrated a full pause into the pre-infusion. A 5-8ish second pre-infusion is plenty long
Hey , love your stuff. I’ve actually taken some inspiration on how you make your videos and incorporated it into my own, although in a different area of course. Keep up the good work.
The slow milk steaming is my primary complaint with my barista express, so I'm glad to hear they're doing so much better. This definitely looks like the perfect recommendation for friends and family. I'm still considering the Ascaso steel duo after your review of that, though. I already have a niche, so the integrated grinder doesn't interest me as much.
I constantly feel I'm making an error. I am at a 6 grind with 12 second grinding, and 24 sec extract. I use a 400 ml main jar to catch espresso. It's wide, yes, so crema seems thin. But I want it to taste better. We use Whole Bean Dunkin and recently swapped to Jax Whole Bean and ran out and back to Dunkin. I feel woth the same settings as first time using Dunkin, that it is extracting 5 seconds in rather than 7 seconds in. Can anyone see my error or is it really just a thing that will happen when beans change
@@EnjoyTalents The beans will make all the difference to taste. Without knowing roast level/your preferences, I'd say 24 seconds is reasonable. What grinder/espresso machine, and what bad tastes are you getting? It's okay for espresso to go longer/shorter than 25 seconds, that just gets you in the neighborhood. Always let your taste buds guide you and make small adjustments to one variable (usually grind size) to get better coffee.
@@EnjoyTalents I have found that most grinders have meaningless numbers. The only one that's even close to consistent is 0, and it should be where the burrs just touch. If a grinder is capable of grinding finely enough for espresso and coarsely enough for filter, the espresso settings tend to be very close to the fine side. Again I'd like to stress that your taste buds should be your guide, the numbers are there to help get in the neighborhood and stay consistent.
I bought a Delonghi ECP3630 2 days ago. I dont like it, Im ordering a scale and bottomless portafilter. Im probably going to return the machine and splurge on a Breville. Im just getting into this hobby and you make the Touch Impress sound so good...my question is, does this machine allow for a good experience once I start transitioning from "I want espresso" to "Im a prosumer" ? Thanks!
Yes, this definitely beats out the current Delonghi all in one offerings. They don’t have the grind adjustment granularity to properly dial in. A bottomless portafilter won’t help that
@@LifestyleLab_ Thank you for the reply. I'm debating g between the Barista Pro and the Touch Impress. Leaning toward the Pro. Subscribed to your channel!
Hello, thx for the review. How about a single dose espresso ? the machine handle it in auto mode ? did the machine change the grind setting automaticly when you change the basket ? thx
I use different kinds of coffee all the time and all that fussing with redial for every coffee isn't very appealing. Maybe I'm misunderstanding him. I am trying to decide between this machine or the Oracle Touch. I HAVE the Barista Touch now and really have liked it. I just sold a house so I have an opportunity for a new machine and I don't have to worry about price at this point.
@@LifestyleLab_ I've had it a month, it has no pressure anymore. I noticed it a couple of weeks ago and I'm just not going to mess with it, life is too short. It's going back tomorrow, just under the wire. Interesting my last machine, the Barista Touch arrive DOA and the later on the computer took a crap and thankfully it was still under warranty so I had to send to LA for repairs. Breville needs to watch their quality control more closely I think. I ordered the ORACLE, NOT Oracle Touch. I'm familiar with the Oracle, my brother has and its been a good machine. The Barista Touch Impress doesn't do it for me.

Hello, do you sell any of the espresso machines you review?

I plan to do this! In separate videos
Ver true. I bought my Bezzera machine because of many yt reviews and in the end I was shocked how heating up or using the vibration pump sounds like. Most videos have music or someone talking in the background and very few show how real life use sounds like
@@LifestyleLab_please do it from “off” state, thanks.
For entertainment purposes sure but machine Sounds are temporary…taste and ease of use (not to mention price) are the important things.
Great video! I just ordered the Barista Touch Impress on the Cyber Monday sale. I’m looking forward to trying it out!
It took me a long time to decide to get a machine like this, since I'm a pour-over purist, but this little coffee machine is fun to play with and produces barista-level results...and I don't even have a beard and tattoos! hahaha
hi! as a fellow pour-over purist who is seriously considering getting this machine, I'm curious -- do you use both? did you make a full switch to espresso? thanks!
Prior to making coffee, do you recommend purging the machine by running hot water through the group head into the portafilter.
If you’re struggling to get adequate extraction, yes, preheating the portafilter will absolutely help. However, these machines do internally brew a little hotter to compensate for the non-heated group head, so if you’re happy with the taste you’re getting you’re not missing out by letting things be
You sold this to me! Your reviews are the best in this platform.
Just bought this for my wife for Xmas, who was asking for an espresso machine. I hope I hit it out the park
And did you ? Is the wife loving the machine ?
We need updqtes :-)
Love the way u review evey single model. Straight foward easy to understand.
Thanks!
If you have the budget, the Touch Impress will be fantastic for you.
Hands down one of the best Reviews of this machine out there (and I've seen quite a few already). Thanks!
This was a fantastic review…me and my wife have been watching videos for a while trying to decide what we want. Thank you!
Thanks
I’m very happy with my Barista Touch, so I can imagine how great this will be.
@@LifestyleLab_ thank you, will check it out!
Latte: All into one Lg. Mug.Microwave wilk to warm, run a double shot, add .5 teaspoons sugar. Run machine to clean filter and head. Done. It "is" that easy. Best, D.
Absolutely the best review yet - thank you so much
Have they replaced the top of the drip tray? On the Barista Touch it is a fake chrome so if you slide your glass over it it will scrape up very easily. I learnt very quickly not to slide but to simply place it where you want it if you want to keep things looking nice.
You must have won some friends with coffee tech support! Review is helpful. 👍🏻
Keeping the world caffeinated, one home at a time 👊
I love the machine but the the coffee temperature on get up to 140 degrees and it is not hot enough for me
Great Content. i love referring my customers to your channel for equipment reviews
Thanks for the referrals!
1 - Does the cup warmer actually work?
2 - Can you brew and steam at the same time?
Just like the Barista Pro, this uses the thermojet heating system, so no the top of the machine does not get warm
This is a single heating loop machine, you cannot brew and steam at the same time.

Great Video! Informative, cut to the chase simplified, and very professional. Thank you!
Great video, I used Breville Barista Express Espresso machine for more than 8 years and now it is not working all of sudden yesterday. It works but the water pressure is weak and there are no pressure at all. Anyways can I use this machine with manually like mine?
Yes, this machine also have manual mode if desired
Thank you really appreciate your honest reviews.
Glad you find them helpful!
Yes, the original Touch also has the thermojet. This machine just has an updated version of the auto steaming technology. Same heating block
How's the espresso taste? Any plastic internals?
As always, great review
I want this machine and have been waiting for your review specifically 🎉im getting it this year now.
What do you think of the quality of the built-in grinder? Any improvement over previous models?
Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.@@LifestyleLab_
That's very odd... definitely not something I experienced
Thank you so much for all your videos
thank you, now it's a question how to find more space in the kitchen ;)
Anyone saying that Brevilles don't produce hot espresso are either not properly pre-heating the portafilter, or the cup it's going into.
@@LifestyleLab_ Great thanks. I just ordered the Baratza Sette 270!
Thanks for your time much appreciated/ awesome video.
whats the difference between this and the oracle jet and which one would you recommend ?
There will be a head to head coming soon, but watch our Oracle jet review in the meantime! I make many references back to the touch impress in that video
I have the oracle but it’s a massive machine. Do you think this would be a better option? Even a better machine?
If you’re looking for very similar features in a smaller package, then this is definitely the closest machine in their lineup
Great review, thank you! Would you say this unit out performs the Miele / Jura in terms of drink quality?
Absolutely stomps super automatic machines. In terms of drink quality. Not even close.
@@LifestyleLab_ Amazing! I just ordered one to replace my Miele Cm6350. Ordered Black Truffle edition! :D
Yes, that’s my video :)
Not necessary, but a nice way to progress once you’re used to the machine
Great review! …I’ve had mine for a couple weeks and love it, however the only issue I’ve had is that no matter what I try my pre-infusion is 3/4 seconds before coffee starts to appear. I use fresh espresso beans, double basket and have adjusted sizes and temperature - I’ve tried 2 different bean types but get the same result. Do you think my machine is faulty?
Try grinding finer
How many grams of coffee grinds are you getting?
@@scanspeak00 I’ve tried 18.5g and 19g. I use a Niche so retention is near 0 with a bellows.
Awesome review. I plan on getting this.
Amazing video. Is this going to replace your home setup? Does it have an auto on function for the morning?
Nice machine, I have the barista touch and I’m very satisfied with it. I like the new screen GUI. Thanks for the review.
I wish I knew about this when I bought my Oracle Touch back in April. 😢 From your review, I’m sure I’d prefer this machine.
I don't think so. The dual boiler makes a huge difference! I have the Barista Touch at home and the Oracle Touch at work and I am rarely using that one at home, cause the Oracle is so much better and consistent
If you have someone who wants decaffeinated, can you override the auto grind and just use some pre ground coffee ?
Yes, you can go straight to brewing without grinding if needed
I really like the machine. Price wise, it is in range with the Delonghi La Specialista Maestro. Delonghi has now a cold brew too, but that's not a distinguishing factor for me. I prefer consistent results, foam quality, etc. So - which one would you suggest?
The Breville by a landslide. A MUCH better machine from a build quality, espresso quality, and steam quality standpoint. No contest
@@LifestyleLab_ So I have bought the machine, and am finding myself exactly in this group of customers you have described - trouble dialing it in, after 1 hour demoing with friends thinking even about returning it, but don't want to give up just yet 🙂
I still have to decide, if I should use a single wall or dual wall filter and second - the real trouble is getting the extraction into to the 25-30 sec ballpark.
High water usage must be related to cooling system of steam wand that requires cold water running when steaming.
Great review! Definitely will consider this for my folks who are exactly what this machine is designed for!
Set my parents up with it for this exact reason! So far VERY good 👍
I have the bambino plus and the automatic milk frothing is really good and as good if not better than I can do as an amateur home coffee maker
Yeah they really do a good job with auto steaming :)
Can you compare this with the Barista Pro?

I on the other hand am stuck with the touch impress but was wondering if I can have a workflow outside of the touch impress?
eg
use a dosing cup that would slide into the grinder
use a WDT
then distributer (if necessary)
then spring action tamp
then slot the PF in and pull the shot?
Thanks
Pat
You’re absolutely not “stuck”, it’s still a great machine. I have a video on how to WDT with this machine using a dosing funnel, and you can steam fully manually as well :)
What type of coffee did you use or are you using? Also - how long can you leave the coffee in the top of the machine?
Great review , thank you !
I have breville dual boiler for three years, should I upgrade?
Not unless you’re unhappy with the workflow. If you’re itching to upgrade, buy a new grinder! That is the largest determining factor on your espresso and drink quality
Hi. Long time viewer, first time commenter. Are you able to do a shot with a bottomless portafilter so we can see how good the Breville's engineering is?
A bottomless portafilter shot won't tell you so much about the machine as it will your puck prep and dialing in.
Nonetheless, lots in this video :)
ruclips.net/video/LY4BTQPNFWo/видео.html
What's pre-infusion like? I keep reading about people getting 3 seconds of pre-infusion as it can't be done manually.
Pre-infusion is around 4-5 seconds and then a full pause (no flow) for 2-3 seconds before ramping up to full pressure
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉Thank you so much. I waited until I could justify such a huge purchase, and now, after your review I feel calm and ready. I'm subscribed and truly appreciate your review for those of us over 50 😮
thank you for your good review i need to ask you about which one is best de longhi la spacialist mastero vs the Barista Touch™ Impress
Barista Touch Impress by a LONG margin. Those DeLonghi machines aren’t designed well from an espresso quality standpoint.
Thank you for your help
Why does the milk not get warm enough?
Great review!
Thanks!
Yep, I use a Niche with this machine. I also, WDT, distribute and use my own tamp if I feel like playing barista when I have extra time.
Thank you@@LifestyleLab_
Puck prep will always be handled by the machine, but you have full control over the brew recipe, milk steaming, and of course drink pouring :)
A 5-8ish second pre-infusion is plenty long
@@LifestyleLab_ That’s true. Maybe I’m just overthinking it!
Superbly done video, fun and informative, very impressive Breville, like you, the best never rest.
I’m trying to decide between this machine and the Gaggia Cadorna Milk . Do you have an opinion?

This machine is the best of both worlds

When does this machine comes to sweden. i want it
The slow milk steaming is my primary complaint with my barista express, so I'm glad to hear they're doing so much better. This definitely looks like the perfect recommendation for friends and family.
I'm still considering the Ascaso steel duo after your review of that, though. I already have a niche, so the integrated grinder doesn't interest me as much.
The Niche + Ascaso would be a stellar combo! Definitely up a price bracket from this solution, but very nice indeed
@@Kiaulen I feel grind size 6 is insanely low if it goes to 15 plus
@@EnjoyTalents I have found that most grinders have meaningless numbers. The only one that's even close to consistent is 0, and it should be where the burrs just touch.
If a grinder is capable of grinding finely enough for espresso and coarsely enough for filter, the espresso settings tend to be very close to the fine side.
Again I'd like to stress that your taste buds should be your guide, the numbers are there to help get in the neighborhood and stay consistent.
Great review!
I’d say that’s the right choice if you’re already considering how you’ll feel when transitioning from beginner to “prosumer”
Hello, thx for the review. How about a single dose espresso ? the machine handle it in auto mode ? did the machine change the grind setting automaticly when you change the basket ? thx
It cannot sense what basket is in the portafilter, but you select the shot size in the interface before grinding / pulling the shot
No matter what espresso machine you use at any price point you will still have to dial in new coffees
