A look at the production process for Future Motion Control gaming. Special thanks to Insomniac Games for animating the Chimera monsters from Resistance with us!
@soperpokebrat Hey now, that cable was already coiled wrong dozens of times. We keep new ones properly coiled as long as possible. Not much that you can do once their memory is ruined.
Love the work with Insomniac. They make great games and teaming up for this video is just great. I do like the more scifi style on this. Anyway the work on the enemies is spot on.
Thats how you can tell where to support the industry, even at crunch time they'll still give you some help when the games about to come out. So support Insominaic
AWESOME!!!!!! I can't believe Insomniac actually did that for you!!!!! THAT IS AMAZING!!!!! I LOVED the effect when the head piece was scanning the area!!! CORD MASTER!!!!! I just had to say that! FANTASTIC job AS ALWAYS and I CAN NOT wait for next weeks video :)
THAT'S INSANE!!! The entire time I was watching the video I was thinking that they probably just took game footage from Resistance, rotoscoped and tracked it into the shots. But they actually had Insomniac do modeling for them. Impressive.
insomniac is really cool. i've heard they treat their employees really well. I'm glad you're getting so much help freddiew and i'm glad you're not moving away from youtube!
You guys HAVE to have a lot of fun doing what you do. I know it's got to be a ton of hard work, but man! It looks fun. Makes me wish I would've made a different decision going into college ten years ago.
I think it would be a good idea to add an annotation to go back to the final version, because now that i've seen the behind the scenes I am going to go watch it again :)
Cool, I was kinda on the fence about buying Resistance 3 with a limited budget and crazy fall launches but now I'll pick it up launch day. Support the fans, I'll support the game.
@theonlyartist1992 They complained about how they are stuck on Maya the entire time. Nonstop they were wishing that they could switch to 3dsMax like us. Ha!
@fanna1119 The guys at Insomniac were definitely using Maya to animate the shots, but an older version, 2010 or less, and slightly customized. I also saw a glance of MotionBuilder, common for real time animating & being able to work with things like motion capture a much quicker. But check out the sweet control rig UI at 3:30 to the right!
@39533 They work together. Freddie doesn't choose to put himself on camera, Brandon chooses to NOT put himself on camera and Freddie steps up to it. They've mentioned this before.
@39533 if you watch Freddiew's very first video(5 years ago, "Aces") , in that video, Brandon was a camera guy. He didn't appear in that video but his name was seen at the ending. i think Brandon just likes to holding the camera and filmming
I would love to live in the same ally as you guys! It would be fucking epic just to sit their want watch all the funny shit you do pre production and then see the finished product on youtube!
You know it's funny cuz the one flaw from the video is that you guys wanted to make it seem like their were going to be projections coming out of the head piece but when Freddie gets shot there are projections coming out of behind him :P
Hey Freddie, your future rock band video is true, they're actually producing a video game where you can plug in your own guitar to it and play it exactly like you showed in your video
Just a suggestion, but what do you think you could do with motion tracking? Like what they do to get real people made into animations in movies and games? That would be awesome to see you guys do that!
we are actually developing something similar but using augmented reality.. we are try to cut down the production cost so it will be affordable currently only military interested..... good job guys..
@RicksterProductions my best guess would be a separate layer on top of the shot that is made. so it really two layers on top of each other but i am speaking from a photoshop perspective so i could be wrong
@bigdog131000 That doesn't matter. This video is just talking about how they made the video. And it's about "the FUTURE of Motion Control Gaming" so I'm pretty sure nobody has a console from the near future.
Hey guys. Im a big fan of your videos. I was wondering, could you guys do a muzzle flash tutorial using Apple Motion, or Final Cut Pro? I would really appreciate it. I would be using the effects on a school project, but our Mac's dont have Adobe After Effects. Thanks a lot guys! Amd keep up the amazing work!!
Little do they know, Brandon would be developing his own VR game.
still
Little do they know that later he would develop the best VR game in the market.
@soperpokebrat Hey now, that cable was already coiled wrong dozens of times. We keep new ones properly coiled as long as possible. Not much that you can do once their memory is ruined.
3:10 Desk # 420. Blaze it.
These nostalgic videos make me forget about covid and protests 🥺
@jawayetti That cable is already properly messed up, its hard to recover once its memory is so damaged. Any that we've had from day one we do right.
I hope you guys keep doing this for years to come. Excellent work, and it seems you keep building your reputation too.
Love the work with Insomniac. They make great games and teaming up for this video is just great. I do like the more scifi style on this. Anyway the work on the enemies is spot on.
Ratchet and Clank probably the best game of my childhood thanks insomniac !
Thats how you can tell where to support the industry, even at crunch time they'll still give you some help when the games about to come out. So support Insominaic
and now, not only is brandon developing VR games, but insomniac too.
lol "the champ is here! The champ is here!"
I cannot get enough of these, thank you for keeping up with your behind the scenes, you guys are amazing.
Impressive.
Huge Respects to insomniac games.proving that their not just another game developer.their people just like us with extreme talent
I don't understand why this has dislikes.... what is there to dislike??? It's a behind scenes video that shows... BEHIND the SCENES.
insomniac is really cool. i've heard they treat their employees really well. I'm glad you're getting so much help freddiew and i'm glad you're not moving away from youtube!
I love how all those videos of greatness are made on an ordinairy parking place, well, most of them
Excellent visual fx! This is the future of fun entertaining video: Freddiew, Brandon and the production teams.
Thats insane that you got to visit insomniac. Keep up the good work guys.
laughing real hard at brandon's expresion from 3:50 - 4:10
he's like, " freddie stop talking your annoying me"
loved the video!
I thought that the enemies looked familiar. Thats so cool how u got to go into insomniac and get that stuff!
You guys HAVE to have a lot of fun doing what you do. I know it's got to be a ton of hard work, but man! It looks fun. Makes me wish I would've made a different decision going into college ten years ago.
Am I the only one who thinks "behind the scenes" are better than the actual videos?
They gave you an entire day with some of their people? :O Very cool, Insomniac Games, very cool.
Great video and Behind the Scenes as always.
I think it would be a good idea to add an annotation to go back to the final version, because now that i've seen the behind the scenes I am going to go watch it again :)
Really cool to see the production side of game animation
Insomniac HQ... That's where Ratchet and Clank, and most of my joyous childhood memories, were born. :|
i love the "The Champ is here" coming from Muscles Glasses :P
The video is awesome for sure, and completing it must have been a huge amount of work; but I wish you guys had thrown in a boss fight at the end ;)
Now we have something real like this
Cool, I was kinda on the fence about buying Resistance 3 with a limited budget and crazy fall launches but now I'll pick it up launch day. Support the fans, I'll support the game.
OH MY GOD!!! INSOMNIAC MAKES RATCHET AND CLANK - MY FAVE GAME OF ALL TIME!!!
HAHA when freddie flips the cords over and you hear him in the background saying woops :')
Smart move by Insomniac games - now they have millions of Freddie's subscribers checking out Resistance 3

@theonlyartist1992 They complained about how they are stuck on Maya the entire time. Nonstop they were wishing that they could switch to 3dsMax like us. Ha!

First thought at hearing Insomniac: "Captaaaiin Quaaaaarrk!"
@fanna1119 The guys at Insomniac were definitely using Maya to animate the shots, but an older version, 2010 or less, and slightly customized. I found this more interesting than the actual video. In a good way.
Hey Freddy, did you catch what kind of animation software that was? autodesk maybe?

AW THANKS INSOMNIAC!!
@39533 if you watch Freddiew's very first video(5 years ago, "Aces") , in that video, Brandon was a camera guy.

I would love to live in the same ally as you guys! It would be fucking epic just to sit their want watch all the funny shit you do pre production and then see the finished product on youtube!
Darn, no awkward handshakes with the Insomniac animators.
You know it's funny cuz the one flaw from the video is that you guys wanted to make it seem like their were going to be projections coming out of the head piece but when Freddie gets shot there are projections coming out of behind him :P
I WISH thats gonna be the future of gaming. >.>

@RicksterProductions my best guess would be a separate layer on top of the shot that is made. so it really two layers on top of each other but i am speaking from a photoshop perspective so i could be wrong

Insomniac, confirmed for fucking awesome developers.
The future of rhythm gaming lies in Audiosurf..
Insomniac is awesome! I love Ratchet & Clank.

wow freddiew is soon going to become its own game/movie company.
Brandon needs to learn the under-over cable wrapping technique
Awesome video!!
