It might be the exact opposite. No guarantee he can still pitch at an elite level after his second surgery. He's proven he's still an elite hitter. (even more elite now that he doesn't have to pitch) the possibility of him batting only now is greater than of him pitching only.

Ortiz is soooo right. So important to get on base. When you do that, you take part of the pitcher's focus 'cause he has to watch for the steal. You alter the way the next batter gets pitched. Good base running will help you score depending on the situation. The defense has to be better. Everything.
