The Lion is a Tiger made by Heyde of Germany pre WW2 it would have had a Preying Arab with it and has a reasonable value Merry Christmas John
Well, I didn’t believe you but I found it on Live Auctioneers website! Good call!
Very interesting. Thanks 👍
How interesting! I love when John said, "My Wee Lion".
Can I make a request/suggestion please John? If the weather keeps you off the Fields of Perthshire, and you’ve fulfilled your DIY duties would you be able to do an end of year special, a recap/revisit of some of the mystery items that you’ve asked for help identifying, ‘cos your viewers often seem to pinpoint exactly what you’ve found. It’d be cool to find out what they are, if they’re easy to find maybe you could show us unburied versions that can be found on the internet? Have a happy Christmas! 🎄
great idea
The Vickie is dated 1874, it would appear. Looking at other examples, the last letter is a stylized ‘v’, making the ‘iv’ a 4…
John you are an archiolagial hoover? Jus got the boy a garret 4 Xmas ill let you know in new year if it any good😂 all the best have a good 1 boyo
Merry Christmas!
I know everyone's calling it a Lion but to me it looks more like a Tiger, it even has stripes.
That's what I'm seeing too.
the remnant gold paint is also suggestive of that
i agree
Let’s go, let’s go treasure and adventure✌️🎉🌎👵🇺🇸💕🌺
MDCCCLXXIV = 1874 in Roman numerals. There are no Roman Numerals that depict (0) zero.
Merry Christmas John and to all the followers! 🎅🏻…and who doesn’t want a lead tiger skin rug for their dollhouse😂
Haha 😆 clearly an upper class dolls house 😆 merry Christmas and thanks for your continued support Jennifer… have a great one!
More amazing finds! Would the tiger be from a dolls house maybe? A strange thing indeed! Maybe a family had picnics there and the children would take toys? Who knows! Merry Christmas to you & your family x
38k Merry Christmas! Your lion looks more like a tiger. And Albert's man looks like a Boy Scout or WW1 officer. Cowboys did not wear jophers, not even the ones from UK.
Many thanks!! Great info! 🤠 🐯 have a great Christmas 🎅🏻
Another terrific day in the fields of Perthshire for you John. It was good that you were eventually joined by shy Albert. I love the Queen Victoria coin and the wee lead tiger toy, but my favourite find on this dig was that wonderful livery button. My grandparents were both "in service" back in the 1920's, before they were married and left the U.K. to come to the U.S.A., and I have always had nothing but pride and respect for those who worked in those thankless jobs. The fact that the button was gilded shows that it was from a very posh estate, I hope whomever it was who lost that button wasn't in trouble for it's loss, you'd be surprised at the mistreatment given those in service who lost such items.
My Grands were some amazing people, Grand-Dad was a footman in the house where he worked and Grand-Mum was a scullery maid from Ireland. I loved them dearly, Grand-Dad put himself through extensive training when coming to America and he became an engineer at an oil refinery, while Grand-Mum was a very loving Mum to her children and Grandkids, and she was always an outstanding cook and baker. Her biscuits at this time of the years were legendary within my family. They did very well from originally being considered nothing more than service staff.
Sorry for waffling on about my family members, John.
Happy Christmas!!
Why would you want that as a child? It’s a freaking lion John!!
I still want one!
Congratulations on the silver. What a shiner!
Haha 😆 thanks Wolfie 🐯 best wishes for Christmas
Thanks John! Have a great Christmas holiday 🥳 with your family and Jura of course. 🐺
When you said “ do you see what I see” I said …”a star ,a star” and that is what you have. Merry Christmas from Mississippi , USA
Oh no, now I am singing it lol. Cheers
The thing at the start before you found your first coin is a caster with the wheel missing, the children's flat lead toy looks like a tiger maybe it was a tiger skin mat in a dolls house ; those things were in fashion in victorian times 🤷♀️
I think the wee figure with the baggy pants, back pack, and neckerchief is a Boy Scout!!
So the lion skin and headless horse and man are likely treasures some young fellas brought to a Scout Camp!!
We had camps out in our fields for many years and the lion skin would be a Victorian desirable item!!
Farmer MJ
That gilt livery button is beautiful, its very fancy. I wonder if the person who wore it was a higher rank servant, like a coach driver instead of a game keeper. Wonderful find, and little a bit of gold.
The button was probably from a liveryman having a bit of rough and tumble beside a haystack in the field long ago 😅
That Gothic florin is AWESOME
Lead man looks like a Boy Scout, they wore those kerchiefs. Merry Christmas to you, and your family! I was pleased to see that you put up a video today! Love the lion. Nice finds today.
Agreeded. Could have been Lord Robert Baden-Powell. Founder of the Scout Movement
What a great selection of finds. I think your lion might be a tiger - perhaps painted orange and black originally? What a nice silver too and what a lot of beer it would buy 😍😍😍 . Maybe the children’s Nanny would bring them there to play and picnic years ago?
Many thanks Pauline 🐯 wishing you a very merry Christmas 🎅🏻
Same to you John and your family. Thanks for the many hours of videos you’ve taken the time to film this last year. All really enjoyable 🎄🎄🎄
Congrats on hitting the 38K before Christmas. 🥳 Life is good
Thank you for all the entertainment this year, finding much more than me! Merry Christmas!
My pleasure. Thanks for watching and have a great Christmas 🎅🏻
Its a Tiger🙄John Don't think theres
Any Raindeers in Scotland Rudolf.
But plenty of Stags! Very nice Florin
It's been the shortest day of the year.
And now it's going upwards again
Jay😜🔝❤️
We in Scotland aren’t so good with our tiger/lion identification 😂 apparently they don’t like the climate 😆 and we do have reindeer!! In the Cairngorms in the Highlands although we borrowed them from Lapland in 1952 😆 🦌
Summer is coming but not before Christmas!! I wish you a great Christmas Toni aka Jay!! Best wishes

Great video as always John some lovely and strange finds well saved thanks for sharing keep up the hard work mate. Love the junk finds at the end
Many thanks 😊
I’d hazard a guess that the lion pelt could possibly be from a Victorian dolls house but, only a guess. A nice Vikki 2 bob piece and, Congratulations on ya 37500 subscribers John well done
Hi, I live in santa barbara CA. I have found several animal toys in my area. A baby bear about 1 inch. A dragon fly the wings move. About 8 in. Long about 6 in. Wide. About 2 in. High. In perfect condition. Also a copper bar that's stamped. About a pound!
It’s weird what you can find in the fields isn’t it Mark!! Happy hunting!!
Your florin is 1874 MDCCCLXXIV.
Great video! The "rug" may be from a safari set? Hunters and animals, something like that. It is a mystery!
You might consider an electrolysis kit to accumulate the tiny amounts of gold and silver from any buttons that aren't historical keepers. Cheers and Merry Christmas to you and your family
Have you ever considered turning some of your finds into jewelry? I think the Griffin would make a nice pendant. Anyway...Happy Holidays!
Hello John! At 6:40 into your video you have a Georgian furniture castor! Probably 18th century. Good luck and happy hunting!
at 6:50 it is a leg base for furniture which held a caster, or wheel on the end, which is gone.
Merry Christmas to you, John, and the Misses!
John, I just finished watching EVERY SINGLE EPISODE that you’ve done…brilliant! Now I have to wait for you to post 🤦♀️🤣
6:49 - Fitting for the brass wheel on an armchair leg.
The lion/tiger pelt lead toy is amazing.
The button is a Livery Button, possibly made made by Firmin & Sons of London. Manufactured in Birmingham.
Amazing thanks for the info! I’ll have a look online
It is most likely Earl of Leven, the Leslies owned a lot of land near Carse of Gowrie. Their crest is a griffon and motto ‘grip fast’.
That’s a great weekend of drinking! Merry Christmas John and all of your subscribers.
a good mix of great finds John a lovely vicky silver and that tiger rug ,hope you all have a good Christmas and a great new year thanks again cheers
The brass thing looks like a castor for an old chair or table. Great show!
Merry Christmas, John! Best wishes from Ontario, Canada
The weird metal rug was very unusual! The camera zoom in's made me lol. Happy Christmas!
After you found the large silver coin, I could have sworn you said, “Beer-di-ful!!!”

That first target may well have been military medieval, check the dates of conflict of the reign of tutor houses that were represented by the Griffin.
Merry Christmas! It reads 38K here! Thank you again for taking us along. From Wisconsin USA!🎉❤
Congratulations on 38K followers! As always, it was a great video, keep em comin!
The junk at 6:47 is a furniture castor, missing its wheel.
it is nice to see your friends detecting with you
oh deer, sweet
it is a beautiful silver coin
it's a tiger
I'm dreaming about a case of pints for one silver coin!!!
Love your videos John. Big fan from Australia 🇦🇺
Congrats and slàinte mhaith, John! Merry Chrismas to you and yours!
Many thanks Chris. Have a great Christmas
CONGRATULATIONS on ur silver find ......Merry Christmas 💚❤
I wonder if your spoon is a baby's feeding spoon/ christening spoon. If it is silver it's a reminder of the phrase "Born with a silver spoon in his/her mouth". Love the two bob bit - niiice. And the tiger rug is a reminder of darker times when big cat hunting trophies were popular (Mid Victorian to mid 1930s).
Glad you enjoyed the video and the finds and have a wonderful Christmas…. Always amazes me the weird stuff that comes out these fields 😂
Way to go John. That was another amazing videos. Can you tell us here in the states what your dig season is. Describe what your winter is like. That would be cool.
Hi John,I googled the lion 'thingy' on ebay and there is an Antique Victorian lion skin taxidermy card tray in pewter -lead that looks very similar !
Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Years detecting from Sunny Australia, cheers John.

Your intro made me think it would be awesome to have a bobble head Scottish Detectorist!
😅 lol!
John, Merry Christmas from south Texas. Looking forward to your finds in 2024!
You *are* coming up with the most peculiar finds! 😊 Hmm, maybe the 🦁 lion was a piece of decoration for a fancy doll house? However it came to be out in the field, though... 🤔
Enjoy the holidays, have a happy and peaceful Yuletide, and in case there won't be another video before then, have a great start into the new year! 💝
