I have a neutral arch but I moderately supinate and have been suffering with Peroneal Tendonitis for months. I can't afford a custom orthotic at this time so i've been wearing a Powerstep Pinnacle. But the Pinnacle is really for pronation, not supination. However, Powersteps does make a High Arch insole which they say is for supination. Would the High Arch orthotic help take pressure off my Peroneal Tendon and the lateral foot pain I have under my ankle bone and under the outside of my foot? I hope you get this message and are able to respond. Thanks very much for your help.

Looking at the insole I wouldn't recommend it unless you add an arch cookie under the lateral aspect of the insole to stabilize the support for your outside arch. Perhaps try a small arch cookie and add it to the outside of your current insole just behind the cuboid. We call this a cuboid block. Should help support the outer side of your arch.

@@FootGeekzTV Thanks. Actually I have been wearing regular Powerstep Pinnacle insoles for years, along with good supportive shoes, New Balance 990v5. Just today, under the arch of the insole I added an additional Powerstep Arch Booster (a small wedge) that gave a little more support and lift to my arch. I wore them all day and my feet felt GOOD. I was so surprised! For the first time in 9 months, I did not experience the pain of Peroneal Tendonitis under my ankle bone and under the outer part of my foot. I am just astounded! Maybe additional arch support was exactly what I have been needing.

I have high arches and the metatarsal heads seem to be protruding and therefore painful. Any recommendations appreciated. Thank you.

Depending on which metatarsal heads protrude you could potentially use a metatarsal pad to relieve pressure. Most ready made arch supports won't support this type of arch. Cutouts at the points of pressure may also help relieve pressure here, especially if there are only one or two bones that are protruding. Make sure to use a cushioned material though, as your bones will notice the edges of a firmer material.

My foot pain is in the ball of my foot. It feels like there’s no “padding” underneath the joints between my foot and toes. Would arch supports alleviate this pain? If not, what can be done?

Arch support can help shift weight from the ball of the foot into the arch and hence relieve stress on the ball of the foot. You may also want to look for a support with a metatarsal bar or metatarsal pad to relieve additional stress on the area. You should also consider a cushion layer with it to make sure the padding that's missing under your metatarsal bones is restored by it. Cushioned socks can help as well.

@@FootGeekzTV I’m a mailman. Is there any possibility that extreme heat coming from the floor of my truck in the hot part of the summer could be part of my problem? I’m basically sitting on top of the transmission. The summer heat on top of heat of the truck can result in temps above 115*
