It wasn't broken... it was in first gear. Turn ignition on, pull both paddles at the same time to put it in neutral. Check for neutral on the dash. Start the car. Taking the handbrake off allowed for the override of the safeguarding of in-gear starting.

It was the opposite. In neutral it doesn't start. In first, it starts.

TheJoePepper when he took off the parking brake it allowed the car to move enough to take itself out of gear. When the gear indicator is blinking it is trying to shift.

This is a perfect example between a channel that doesn’t clickbait, and one that does. On Luke’s channel, the same vid is simply called “2 guys and a loud Ferrari”. This one; “this Ferrari breaks down”. Doesn’t even break down...

Here's what I think happened.
When you turned on the key the gear indicator said that you were in first gear, which I believe you tried to put in it neutral but the transmission was bound-up. When you released the parking brake it allowed the transmission to release 1st gear and go into neutral, that's when you were able to start the engine.
I experienced this same issue when I was driving my friends Ferrari 360. Like you, I was also pooping my pants. :)

Super cool always to see Luke, you have to do more because you two work very well together.
It is not the fuel pump which you hear, it is the high pressure oil pump for diff and gearbox.
It goes for 1 step after opening the drivers door. When key turned it pressures up to 2nd stage (working pressure).
There are many safeties such as frond lit open (it will not start), motor lit etc.
Also when you park, leave it in gear. Do not put in in neutral. it will give alarm out of gear.
When the you start (wait untill oil pumps stops at 2nd stage) startup. The gear will go in neutral and then start.
I think was your issue. You stopped the engine in neutral. For every car: read the F*** manual first before driving it

By the way, love the single plate clutch. The car shiffers when you change gear. No ferrari does that anymore after the F430. It is the last Brute Mother**** car and dues not have the belts like 360's.
No issues on F430's except the exhaust manifolds which has to be changed at once when you buy it (not if it has been replaced already)

Really not the case, the 430's air wents on the side and rear end is ugly AF, while the 360 has a slightly dated front but the air wents on the side and the rear end is much better, also a 360 with the challenge rear grill looks epic. But each their opinion ;)

Like someone said, it was in gear. The F1 system won't obviously start when in gear. Every single time before you shut the car of, you should engage 1st gear. And vice versa when starting it. This is at the Owners Manual. Otherwise the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) will sound loud BEEEEB and engage 1st gear after you have exited the vehicle. This can lead occasions where the gear is kind of "jammed": Like someone else said: When he took off the parking brake it allowed the car to move just enough to take itself out of gear. When the gear indicator is *blinking* it is trying to shift.
FYI: The sound which owner (?) commented "its a fuel pump", its actually the F1 system hydraulic pump building pressure into the system.

That sound you hear when you enter is NOT the fuel pump - it's the F1 pump. If you didn't hear it (as you described in the vid) then your F1 system failed to prime, which would prevent you from starting the car. There's a problematic relay that could have stuck that caused your problem. Easy 5 min fix. You should be replacing the relay every 2 years anyway to prevent your F1 pump from overcycling, should it get stuck in the closed position.
This reminded me of the same problem in James's F12... The relief on your faces when it eventually started!

That said the superfast II F1 gearbox in the Scuderia is simply the best gearbox out there, including the latest DCT's. Suits the car perfectly, fast and racey
The car didn't start because it was in gear. When you press the starter button with your foot in the brake, the car will pop into neutral. What you're supposed to do is to have your foot on the brake and pull both paddle to pop it into neutral before pressing engine start.
Also, the priming noise is not the fuel pump. It's the f1 transmission pump.
The tell-tale is the blinking gear display. When it failed to start it was flashing 1 and then N once the start button was pressed. I suspect it was accompanied by the gearbox failure warning light. This means that the car couldn't determine if it was in 1st or neutral so prevented the starter motor from working as a protection strategy. In my experience this is usually caused by the position sensors attached the the gearbox actuator. They suffer from oil ingress and start to generate spurious signals. The sensors are an eyewatering £500 but only a couple of hours to fit.
Get a manual 430 instead of a 360!!
Pretty sure the issue with the car not wanting to start is down to a tempramental immobiliser or alarm system. Quite common on Ferraris. Get out, lock the car, unlock and start as usual is usually the trick. Also, as several others have said. Always park F1 gearbox Ferraris in gear. No need to put in neutral before parking. Doing this will only risk the car rolling away from you if you forget the
E-brake.

Sam, the differences between a Scud and a F430 aren't that big. If you bypass the valves (or install a switch to do so) the sound from a Scud is comparable to a F430. This 100k extra isn't worth it, as the F430 brings nearly (90%) the same amount of pleasure. The opening of the valves depends on the force you use on your throttle; if you accelerate suddenly, the valves will open instantly, if you use your throttle less violent, they will open at approx 4.500 RPM. Normally if you open the door, the fuelpump will build up pressure; it didn't, probably a problem with the immobilizer. Furthermore the differences between the 360 and F430 are gigantic, due to the Manetino which will make it drive like a normal everyday car or like a real sportscar in Race-mode. The differences between a 360 and a F430 is well worth the extra 20-30k. If you happen to be in the Netherlands I'm happy to let you experience and drive my F430, just sent me a PM.

The Ferrari 360 manual is the last rear-mid engined Ferrari i would even consider buying, for the simple reason that it is the last basic, ‘normal’ car they build. The gauges are actual ‘gauges’, with needles, doing what they need to do, there are no annoying screens plastered all over the cockpit like all modern cars, there are no stupid flappy floppy paddles to change gears, but a regular old gated stick, like real cars should have, and the steering wheel has NO buttons on it, and i love that. I truly deeply hate modern cars and their stupid silly childish f*king screens and beeps and buttons. That is why i will never ever sell my Alfa 156 V6. It is 16 years old, turns heads everywhere it goes, has no dumb screens, lights and buttons, has a 6 speed stick shift, and a brilliant brilliant v6 engine. Love it

The *issue* with the car not starting up is caused by a very occasional malfunction of the cars ECU when it thinks its not getting enough electricity. Opening and closing the door causes the car to reset the connection and I have no idea what I'm talking about.
The F1 transmission was stuck in first gear. The "fuel pump" noise you heard was actually the hydraulic pump for the F1 transmission. It's Italian and finicky :)

That car on a normal, technical track (not on a high speed one though) is as fast as an Enzo and an F458. Check Fiorano times for example. With 150HP lower than the Enzo and 60 less than the newer F458. Handling 10/10.

It happens on mr jww as well in his f12. Get out , lock and unlock the car, turn the ignition then start the engine. And that time sam youre with mr jww right? Hehe
be careful don't drive like that in Switzerland or be sure there is no radar / cop because you'll go straight to jail if they catch you at 150 + km/h on these mountain roads, trust me I live there

Quick question: at low rpm's when u give it full throttle, is that induction noise then exhaust noise or is it just exhaust noise all the way?

Not a Ferrari owner but I think the car was stuck in 1st gear (look at digital display in the tach). So you probably had to pull both levers together to put it in neutral before cranking it.
The second you put the hand brake down the car went into neutral and started right up. That's what I think 🙂
check the battery voltage to make sure its fine ! those Ferrari tend to have electric leak specially if stored for more then 2 weeks may cause the battery getting low
