Not sure if you figured this out yet Grace but: Attach the lens to the camera body Go to the Yellow Wrench menu Select Firmware Select the lens firmware Select OK View the firmware to be installed Click Set and then OK The camera will update the lens
it says memory card needs to have firmware installed and that’s where the problem is because i have a macbook and canon doesn’t have a firmware for mac os

Hello! I think it really depends on what content you’d like to make. The iphone does shoot in 4K (not very well imo) and the part where i show off the camera is also shot on my iphone 14 using 4k. I think any modern day camera is better than an iphone because the iphones purpose is to be a phone if that makes sense. thanks for watching!
@@graceswaddling That is interesting... try to do this... compare the two side by side... I mean at the end of the day, what is important is what looks good when we are watching it on the screen. I think you will come to find out that the iPhone is far superior than the R50 with the kit lens. And that the only good thing about the R50 is that you have an option to put a good quality lens. But then if you do that, then its not like your comparing apples to apples... you will see the difference will not be much and you will be spending so much money to try to achieve better results and the better results so minuscule
Nice review! Btw... I've got some 20 lenses that fit on this camera. The Canon EOS R50 can be used with Canon RF and Canon RF-S lenses. All EF and EF-S lenses can be used by attaching the optional Mount Adapter EF-EOS R. So lots of second hand options as well.
@@graceswaddling Yes. The good thing is the adapter will work on all current and future bodies. Third party adapters like the Viltrox are half price. I personally would use the RF 28mm f/2.8 pancake lens on the R50. A real street photography set. thanks

The R50 has full sensor width oversampled 4K recording with dual pixel AF. The SL3 shoots cropped 4K with no oversampling and dual pixel based AF is disabled. So, yeah, nice improvement for 4K video.

@@iamjustniki_592 amazon! the kit isn’t worth it imo bc as far as i know it only comes with the 18-something lens but this is 10-18 mm which is wider and better for vlogging. if ur fine w the kit lens then the kit seems like a good bundle!
Okay I’ve been wanting a new camera because I have the canon eos m200 and it does film really nice but overheats so bad. Is this camera good for filming videos and does it overheat when on a high quality setting when filming?
i’ve been shooting 4k 30 fps and i can go about an hour of sit down filming idk anything specific bc im usually vlogging small clips throughout the day!
“Mainly a video camera” please, just limit the video to your experience with the camera, it is too obvious that you do not know about cameras, which is ok, but this is not a “video camera that takes photos”

You have firmware 1.0.0 on your camera that does not support the 10-18mm lens, update the camera to 1.1.0 to get rid of the annoying message.

It’s been pretty good for videos so far and i shoot in 4k! The longest i’ve shot in one sitting is like 30 mins and It hasn’t overheated
What OTHER lenses are there besides the 18-45 the 18-150 and the 50mm?
i think there’s four total as of right now, so just the 10-18 mm i shoot with!

How is the battery life on the r50? Im having trouble picking either the Sl3, R50, and the ZV E-10
i can only compare it to the m lines batteries, but it’s a lot bigger and i can do a sit down video for at least 45 mins to an hour shooting 4k
What do you think of the camera in low light? 😊
the 10-18 mm isn’t great for low light because of the aperture it offers! i’m sure there other lenses that work better

r50 is pretty different bc it’s mirrorless and has a bigger sensor i believe. Also has the dual pixel autofocus which is way better than the g7x!
