    Regarding her "Satanic" voice, Chris: If you were a selfless fish (Pisces) who wanted to see the world but was a bit skittish, and then got into the nets and was hooked by handsome butchers who proceed to rip away your scales and entrails (emeralds)... you'd growl too! So you see, sometimes the lyrics call for extreme vocals in a song. Tatiana (who's not singing as someone possessed, so you can toss the garlic back into the spaghetti sauce) wrote an incredible story and sang about it the way it deserved to be sung... as with most of her songs. Some vocalist just keep singing in their nice and charming voice even when the lyrics call out desperation. Not so with Tati. Her extreme expression - a rare ability - adds so much more to a song... especially if you follow the music with the lyrics and how the beautiful cacophony tells the story.

    • @adwood201
      @adwood201 3 года назад

      And she also sings in sooo many styles.

    • @TomClark-Futoura
      @TomClark-Futoura 3 года назад

      @@adwood201 I'll bet Tati continues to slowly move out of strict metal with songs that are more prog, jazz, hip-hop, blues, reggae, and of course, some hard rock and metal. I hope the guys will want to do the same. I think they will, especially if she wants it.

    The best friend will not advise bad things , everyone needs such a friend .Pisces ( pronounced like spices , but without s ) is a zodiac sign symbolized by two fish ,one of the most contradictory and dual signs in astrology ,so her contrasting double vocals and mood swings make sense and fits perfectly into the meaning of this song.The lead singer and songwriter Tatiana is also Pisces ,so she perfectly described character traits of the people of this sign and tells the story of an unhappy Pisces girl and her bad life experience in personal relationships comparing her to a doomed fish.

    Pisces is all about duality. The Pisces zodiac sign is a dual sign. So this song captures that very well.
    Yep, she is self taught. It took her 4 years to get the extreme vocals (screams/growls) down and without affecting her clean vocals. Tatiana is awesome. Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Jinjer :) All the band members are awesome as well. Eugene is the bassist, Roman is the guitarist, and Vlad is the drummer. Very talented group of people. And just really cool down to earth people as well.
    I like your pointing out the technical parts of producing and how they setup a live session like that. I heard in an interview with Tatiana and Eugene that they recorded this session to highlight their drummer, Vlad, as he was new to the band at the time and brought a new feel and sound to this song. They showed up a little early and did a couple of backing vocal lines. They use tracks for fill in sometimes, so they probably had those vocal lines they recorded earlier come in at those points where it's fuller and had that synth effect come in toward the end with the track.
    More songs to check out: All of their songs are great. This is just a list in the order I'd go about it.
    I Speak Astronomy (official video) - off their King of Everything LP with their older drummer. Love this song!
    Perennial (live at Wacken 2019) - awesome song and great to show her live vocals and switching between cleans and extreme.
    Who is going to be the one (live) - great version of the song. Another song showing her extreme vocals and going from very low growls to really high screams.
    Judgement (&Punishment) (one take vocal) - great showcasing Tatiana's vocals. It's awesome.
    On the Top (live in Kiev and official video) - both are great.
    Teacher, Teacher (official video) - great video of multiple live shows. An awesome song. Very technical (well all of their songs are quite technical).
    Pit of Consciousness (live in Kiev and official video) - both great.
    Home Back (official video) - very personal song for them about the war in the east of Ukraine and them having to leave their home.
    There is more, but that will be a good start :).

      Sounds like there's a backing track of some kind of keyboards along with the doubling tracks at approximately 3:30 into this. Listen closely. Subtle but there. This seems to have been recorded live, mixed, sweetened, and edited for the final video. I mean, even live they run backing tracks and from what I can tell, they're all wearing in-ear monitors. That Live at Wacken Perennial also has a backing track that plays. First thing that plays at the beginning of the song. It seems there's also another backing vocal track also playing later in that performance because you can hear double vocals.
      It's not a bad thing. It helps live performances and it's a normal/pro thing to do and almost everybody does it. The artists don't rely on these tracks but they help thicken the sound.

      False cord screaming, using the vestibular folds aka false cords, or death growls since it comes out of the death metal genre, where sounding like a demon was kind of the goal. Before the technique was established, people would actually blow their voice out, because they'd use the vocal folds to make similar sounds like these, which is extremely unhealthy and can cause permanent damage to them.

    • @MrJdsenior
      @MrJdsenior 3 года назад

      @@Dark__Thoughts I know one of the basic rules in singing is, if it hurts don't do it, figure out another way to make the sound without discomfort or excessive fatigue. It was funny on many of the reactions from voice coaches you could see they were literally looking like they were in pain. One even said, my jaw hurts. They were ALL blown away though, and gave her massive props for her technique.
      I did watch a video from the guy that does the goofy style challenges with Peter Hollens (they are fun, and this guy does killer Sinatra) showing a bit about screaming the correct way. Very interesting. They had one on his channel where he and an opera singer taught each other some of their style of singing. That was pretty enlightening, too.

    • @Dark__Thoughts
      @Dark__Thoughts 3 года назад

      @@MrJdsenior Yes, only very few vocal coaches can teach you this. The majority is completely uneducated about it, a lot of them don't even know about it at all. But it gets increasingly more popular and mainstream nowadays, and Tatiana is one of the reasons why. She is also a major reason why we see a lot more women trying to get into this, as this is usually a very male dominated genre and vocal style. More diversity in music is always welcome, and Jinjer is providing that on more than just vocals- It's such a talented band.
      I can recommend the Pisces video of Kardavox Academy too, he also does some live examples.

    You were close about the mic thing, but actually not entirely correct. The primary reason she is pressed straight against the mic is that the style of screaming she is doing, especially to create such a masculine sound (which was what she aimed for when learning) requires very little air pressure and sound. If she did not have the mic literally pressed to her lips, it would not sound anything close to that.
    From my understanding from seeing so many vocal coach reactions, someone correct if I misremembered the exact dynamics.

She may have done some school, though, most others go to the Rock Academy thing that they have. There's a few girls over there that can growl, but they don't switch it like this. Most rely on the male vocal to do it. I love both together a bit more taste wise but I most certainly appreciate Tatiana. and omg....yes that was too cute lol. Much love XOXO

    And you mock his! I get it this music isn't for everyone. But her vocals are incredibly difficult to do. Every band member plays to support everyone else. Plus thdrumers techniques is very technical and spot on, The music is soulful, hypnotic, and otherworldly, to draw you in before kicking out the jams with Tatiana's growls and the guitars intensity.
    You work in the music insustry and you give such a shoddy assessment of the band. I am not well versed in music, technique and terminology and I could analyze it better.

    Put it on, take it off, put it back on. You're as bad as I am. :-) Yeah, I had exactly the same reaction, I'd like to see her do that without a mic. There are voice altering devices out there that can do some pretty amazing things. One scam baiter I watch has multiple ones running in a session and then records and plays them back while he's talking and you'd probably believe there are three different people if you were on the phone with him.
    Yeah, IIRC the exterior noise cancelling mics of old, like in aircraft were differential sound pressure measurements between to elements, close up sound changes a lot, far away generated sound, not so much. Could be wrong, what I remember though, don't quote me.

      It's not like it is particularly unusual. Plenty of amateurs on YT doing passable immitations at an amateur level - just look up Pisces vocal cover. No need to come up with a conspiracy theory. Besides if awesomeness was that easy to fake nobody would have weaksauce growls.

    • @MrJdsenior
      @MrJdsenior 3 года назад

      @@j.f.fisher5318 What conspiracy??? Assuming that was a joke.
      Vocalists at a professional level use all kinds of tools to modify their voices, instruments, etc., it's not a secret. In fact it is almost impossible to find professional recordings with actual natural sounding human voices on it any more...most of it is studio'd to death. I wasn't accusing her of anything, just wondering about the techniques.
      I will look it up the covers, so far I've just been watching first time viewing voice coaches reacting, and they are hilarious...they actually look like they are in pain, after the shock wears off. Again, I would like to hear it without a mic to see if it is purely a mic technique, like growling out 0th octave base notes, and MUCH lower, one guy.
