It still could've been the perfect end to the new timeline. Logan could be the culmination of Xavier's vision. The mutants still ended up being largely destroyed but there's still hope for them...in Canada.
Old Fox xmen was better than new Fox xmen so I can totally take a shitty series for that Logan movie, was one of the few saving graces for that set of films

To be honest I wish they ended at Logan. It would be symbolic and very cool in terms of plot. The perfect end to the franchise. But now this franchise ends like this... Ridiculous and empty.
I would’ve ended at Days of Future Past. A happy and optimistic ending is something the X-Men honestly deserve after they helped kick off the new wave of comic book movies.
@@LMNtaLXicon I thought it was a Winter Soldier reference to when Fury said maybe they could save what was left of the Helicarriers & salvage it but Cap was pretty much like nah, S.H.I.E.L.D. dies too.
That's absolutely ridiculous. Stop talking rubbish. One line from a trailer doesn't turn a below average film into a 10/10. I think you're just parroting some talking point you've seen elsewhere. I don't think you'd know an original idea if it fell on your head.
Previously (Apocalypse spoilers)... Professor X: "Unleash your power, Jean let go!" *Phoenix flame wings erupt from Jean, suddenly she has unstoppable disintegrating powers* Jean: *Screams incoherently* *Jean's flames literally outstretch into a giant flaming phoenix as her pupils become slits* Apocalypse: "All... is revealed" *Apocalypse is atomized by the phoenix* Next movie: "Jean gets her phoenix powers now, in space! She definitely did not have them before. We didn't think you would actually watch two of these shite movies so this is really your fault." Can't wait for the pitch meeting on this.
Jean always had Phoenix powers (even in the original trilogy). This time, the solar radiation only enhanced it to the point where she couldn't control her powers.
I think when people say they should be older i think it has more to do with the passage of time: First Class - 60's Days of Future Past - 70s Apocalypse - 80s Dark Phoenix - 90's (from what I hear) Seriously 30 years have passed but no one has really aged
First Class already pointed out that Mystique's shapeshifting abilities make her age slower than any normal person. Beast inherited her de-aging ability as a result of using her DNA to create a cure for himself (only, it turned him into a blue-furry monster instead). The serum Charles used to walk again had side effects like rapid aging and premature hair loss. It's why he already looks like Patrick Stewart in the beginning of X3: The Last Stand and X-men Origins: Wolverine but when he stopped using the serum in Days of Future Past, he doesn't suffer its side effects anymore so he remains looking like James McAvoy in Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. Finally, in the comic books, Magneto used the earth's magnetic fields to regenerate his body which is probably why he hasn't aged from First Class to Dark Phoenix.
the only one that makes sense out all of that is mystique and maybe beast although the ending to days of future past shoots that theory in the foot. Honestly Fox should have let the cast age naturally and have these movies stay in the 70's
@ Age-proof? Both Professor X and Magneto were already old men when they meet Jean Grey (who was a little girl) at the beginning of X3. Meanwhile, Wolverine lost his age-proof abilities in Logan and both Angel and Jubilee (in Apocalypse) are exactly the same age as they were in the original trilogy.
I agree with you 100% because honestly any superhero film falls flat when the motive of the villain is murky and the audience isn't connected to the character enough.
Yes, but that's not an excuse, that's a big problem of the film. And honestly, the story has been so chaotic, I can't get attached to any of these characters anymore. You can't just say: "Hey, honestly, this film would be good if you ignore all the things it fails at."
MR FREEZE-98 Definitely losing interest real quick with Disney going full steam ahead with the SJW agenda, but I wouldn’t say that nobody cares. I mean, some people are cool with gender-swapping and pandering to whoever complains the most.

This movie would have had more impact if Magneto had acknowledged that Quicksilver is his son, and Mystique had told Kurt that she was his mom before she died. Seriously, those two plotpoints could have raised this movie a few notches.
I feel like this is the exact mirror image of Ryan Reynolds with Deadpool. You've got a guy, clearly passionate about a property who was part of a botched execution on the first attempt (Last Stand for him, Origins: Wolverine for Ryan) and was given another chance to do it right. When you're this motivated its probably really hard to tell whether you'll be making the next Deadpool or the next Dark Phoenix.

@fake channel My comment is ment to be sarcastic, because while these are stupid problems, they are perceived issues for better or worse. The sequel thing is actually important when it comes to this movie. All the marketing was talking about how it's a new take, it's a different take, and sets up these characters. It makes it seem like it is the first in a new series. This is a turn off for a lot of people. Personally, I have limited time and funds, so why spend money on a dead/dying movie franchise? It also does not help that there is no place to stream these movies or catch up on them. I would take my movie buddy (my wife) but because it is the last in a long line of movies she would rather not go. (Also, the X-Men and FF have been shafted in the current Marvel comics continuity, so it just felt like why bother seeing movies that have no care put into them by their parent company)

Ryan Stewart I was just guessing about angel but Olivia munn was originally signed on for dark Phoenix when it was a two part movie however I think she dropped out when the films got consolidated into a single one
Ryan Stewart the actress for jubilee had a multi film contract with the studio and still dropped out of dark Phoenix so it’s not hard to believe that Olivia munn, who confirmed herself she had plans to return, either was cut out of the final script during pre production or decided to drop out of the film of her own volition
Better drama if the Phoenix was in overdrive self preservation mode/mood, it attacked anyone who tried to come near, because the aliens after it could possess anyone. Magneto hunting Phoenix because it endangers the other mutants into becoming feared once again. The X-men trying to fight of Humans trying to hurt jean. The roles have flipped. And Jean is both the victim and perpetrator. None of that repressed memory.
The title is my entire feelings towards the movie. It had the bones and the concepts to be greater. But it seemed like someone just gave up and tried to get done with it as soon as possible.
The cartoon in the 90's and comic retcons following Jean Grey's return took away Jean Grey's moral responsibility for Phoenix, but that certainly wasn't the case in the original story line. That was in fact, one of the central points of it--that Jean was seduced by her power.
I agree with most things you said but I feel that they don't give enough depth to everything, they adress certain aspects that are very interesting but they barely scratch the surface of those aspects.
The core problem with both adaptations is that it isn't just the "Dark Phoenix" saga; it's "THE PHOENIX" saga. Jean Gray didn't get this cosmic power and then immediately become a super villain. It originally appeared to have no negative consequences: she survived what should have been something that killed her, got a TREMENDOUS power boost from it, and has enough self-awareness to keep herself in check so her new power doesn't run rampant. That's why when she DOES succumb to the Dark Phoenix, it hits that much harder. There was time to develop all the GOOD she was capable of with the Phoenix Force under her control. She original gives in to the Phoenix's full power because she was desperate to save Cyclops. She only had good intentions, but that choice ended up killing billions when Dark Phoenix took over her mind. It was seeing such a good character given great power to do great things, and then seeing her fall so hard, so fast, that made the Phoenix Saga what it is today. It's NOT something you can do without taking time to build up to that fall, without taking time to develop an attachment to Jean and the relationships she has, and that's why Dark Phoenix was a flawed premise for a movie from the start. Sophie Turner is a good actress, and she can be a great Jean Grey, but we've only had two movies with her version of Jean. You can't pull the trigger on Dark Phoenix with only ONE movie under your belt.
Well, Infinity War had 18 movies worth of build-up, competent writers and directors, a bigger budget, no last-minute changes, characters that we care about (compared to x-men, where there are like 4 characters people care about and the rest are just there) and actual love and passion put into it.
Watching Dark Phoenix was frustrating simply because I saw the potential. I wished they had emphasized further on the father/daughter plot. Discovering that her father abandoned her should've had Jean contemplate about her relationship with Xavier. And that bond could have played a vital role in overcoming the phoenix's destructive powers. Also, it's a shame Phoenix's creation power didn't make a debut. You'd think, after killing a close friend, you begin to grieve. The Phoenix could have responded to her sorrow and resurrect Raven.
And really, despite the promise of focusing more on the Phoenix, it didn't really feel like it did. We didn't really get to see what it wanted or how it wanted to act. It seemed more like Jean losing her mind due to it's power.
Ive not seen many people mention that the action was actually decent to pretty good. It felt grounded, was easy to follow, used everyones powers really well and actually gave Charles his best action scene to date imo. Like he played a pivotal role in that fight as a support character and worked around the obstacle of another telepath in a believable way.
The problem is that this iteration of Jean and Scott were introduced in Apocalypse but barely had any screen time in that film and then were expected to carry this movie without any investment. You have to build up the relationships. At least Last Stand had 2 previous movies worth of character development to build on. (Can't believe I just defended Last Stand)
I WANT TO SEE PHOENIX BLOW UP A PLANET which makes jean realize how out of her hands this really is and decides to take care of it herself before it happens again
What you were saying about not showing Jean enjoying her new powers reminds me of how similar this movie feels, in some respects, to Spider-Man 3 and Peter's enjoyment of the venom symbioye
Your problems with Jean in this story, I feel, would actually work out better if they went with the 'revised' version of the Phoenix saga. Where the Phoenix Force absorbed her memories, emotions, and thought patterns unintentionally as she was dying. But then, I don't see Fox leaving the questions that were asked in the 'revised' version open. What makes a person who they are? If they have a radical shift in how they think and act, are they the same person? Is it the physical body that we're attached to? I'll be honest, I like that version more than the original. The original was basically 'Absolute power corrupts absolutely', while the 'revised' version asked of the reader 'What makes us, us?'. Despite the horrible acts and there being an argument that this wasn't Jean, she remembered everything involving Scott, and was willing to sacrifice herself for the good of others.
The problem is that the movies two times in a row omitted the "Phoenix" Saga. You know, when Jean Grey first got the Phoenix force? She didn't go mad with power immediately. I get a feeling writers keep glossing over that.
I sometimes forget you havent got a million+ subs yet. I'm so surprised when I realise I can leave a comment without it getting drowned among the other comments
Let's be real, by the time Xmen 2 was out everybody was already hooked on Hugh Jackman's logan; I think what made the original dark phoenix movie bearable was Jackman's role in it, and as much as i liked the rebooted cast of the new Xmens, i think they tried to make James McAvoy the pivot but he didn't have the shoulders for it idk
Making everything revolve around Jackman was ultimately a problem. X-Men is not the story of Wolverine after all. Look at the MCU, as big as Tony was they made sure the Saga was never just about him.
What it's missing is people like me who actually appreciate it. I loved watching it. Dont know why so many people hated or disliked it. I saw it 3 times and liked it better than Appocalypse.
I have a great idea. Let's get a guy who had a hand in making the failed Dark Phoenix movie to make another Dark Phoenix Movie. Should work out great. To be honest this movie was ruined the moment they decided to make Mystique a core member of the X-Men. A ton of ppl loved First Class while I walked away from it knowing that they ruined the X- Men and that there was no chance the following movies would be good because they had not set up any way for Wolverine to be recast or reintroduced to the team and they started the X- Men with the wrong characters. The biggest problem of the original 3 movies was the under use and development of every character not named Wolverine. Especially Cyclops. So when they started the team with no characters that I or anyone else wanted to see I lost all hope for the franchise. DOFP was surprisingly an enjoyable film but it was another Wolverine movie. Nobody asked for or wanted an X-Men universe where Charles Xavier, Mystique and Beast were the main characters. Magneto is understandable cause he's one of the most popular villains in comic book history. But Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Jean, Rogue, Iceman, Gambit, Nightcrawler being pushed aside for Mystique? Emma Frost wasted. Sabretooth gone, Toad gone, Blob gone, Juggernaut gone, Mr Sinister not used, Pyro gone. There was hope that the 2nd movie would introduce the real core X- Men and make them the main characters but nah. Just another Wolverine movie that further confused continuity and more doubling down on the butchering and overuse of Mystique. Then Apocalypse happened and I don't know who that movie was about. It was just all around awful and I thankfully barely remember what happened in it. We basically got Wolverine and the X-Men 1 Wolverine and the X-Men 2 Wolverine and the X-Men: The Last Stand Wolverine Origins Xavier and His Uncanny Band of Misfits Wolverine 5 Wolverine 6: Days of Future Past X-Men: Apocalypse Wolverine 7: Logan Jean Grey: Part 1&2 crammed together.
The only reason the film is getting roasted so hard is because people expected it to bad and are projecting. It's a pretty good movie. I agree with the issues, this is the same problem I have with the Spider-man PS4 story. Martin Li and Dr Oct have no agency or it's not clear how much of their decision making is from their brains being fucked or from their own decisions so it lacks tension, I would have also preferred more clarity on Jean's powers and how much control she had. But notice how everyone calls the Spider-man PS4 story amazing. Public feeling matters a lot when it comes to how something is perceived. That's why this film is massively underrated. This is probably my favourite X-men film just because it's the most fun comic booky x-men film there is. This is is the one I will turn on when I just want to see the X-men kicking ass in live action. also I love how Cyclops actually does something here. This is the best movie for Cyclops since X1, still he's too young thus passive in the plot but a huge improvement on all the others.
As much as they tried to evoke a smaller film that concentrated on developing characters, I found this movie to be bland and emotionless. At no time did I feel anything for anyone. So, I just didn't care about any part of it. It's sad really. The Phoenix Saga is such a great story. All they had to do was take great source material and spend tons of money putting it on the screen.
Having Jean Grey toast an entire city full of mutants and humans, that would've been a nice single sequence of her power, even if they went with the quiet story after that. No matter now but...
A more ambitious plot perhaps? Like maybe NOT rehashing one from a previous X-Men film at the end of a different trilogy installment?! There’s always been a huge reserve of story material to adapt from in the X-men franchise. Stories they could’ve introduced that involved Mr. Sinister, the Phalanx, Onslaught the psychic embodiment of Xavier and Magneto! Maybe even Mojo, Spiral, and Mojoverse too. The Brood. The High Evolutionary. Asteroid M. The Sugar Man. Alpha Flight. There’s almost too much to choose from, but NO!! We always center around how they met and the Mutant Control Agency along with endearing the ignorance of humanity! A fanfic writer could’ve written something better than these Hollywood losers and hacks!! 😝
Onslaught would be amazing, it could be the x-men equivalent of end game if they built up to it. Imagine the possibility: the battle between the x men and magneto rages to a new height of intensity, their battle has reduced half of San Francisco to rubble and the death toll is innumerable. The only x men left standing who aren't unconscious, other than professor X are beast and storm. Storm is fatigued heavily, and beast is in rough shape but barely standing. Magneto is bantering with Charles, he talks about how time and again the humans have turned against the mutants no matter how much good they do. He draws parallels to the horrors of his childhood and goes on to basically state that humanity and is beyond saving and that it's time for the mutants to rise up and exterminate them. Cut to Charles sensing people alive in a nearby warehouse that's surrounded by rubble but standing. Charles talks him down for a bit attempting to negotiate a peaceful resolution, but of course Eric won't have it and mocks Charles for even trying before picking up the inhabited warehouse crushing it to a sphere the size of a Volkswagen and then hurling it into a distant high-rise. (During this exchange we would cut to storm and beast planning to get magnetos helmet off as Charles telepathically informs them of his ruse to stall Eric.) Charles would continue to plead with Eric to peacefully surrender, as beast maneuvers out of sight. Finally storm and beast would execute their plan get the helmet off and Prof. X would grab Eric's face and say something along the lines of: "I can't let you keep going you've made me do this" or something about how it's a last resort. Cut to all of Eric's memories as Charles sees all of them in rapid cut before ripping it all away leaving Eric a vegetable. Professor X collapses we have a time lapse which cuts to a a few days later with Charles is recovering at home. They talk about Eric's folly and how Charles did what he had to do before teasing the next film and rolling credits, post credits scene: cut to Charles having a nightmare in his bed. He sees cities burning and many of his students dead. He sees a massive shadow with two glowing eyes looming over this scene of destruction and chaos. Charles reasons that this is some kind of message or warning from an imminent threat and tries to reach out, but when he does he only feels his own rage and Erics hatred push back at him. "WHAT ARE YOU? He screams telepathically at the shadow, to which the shadow looks at him directly showing the shape of its head resembling magnetos helmet and bringing more definition to the shape of the beast. " know my name and fear it. I AM ONSLAUGHT." Credits continue, final post credit scene showing Deadpool beating a guy really really badly for information on a someone that ensures his appearance in the next film, then breaking the fourth wall and then credits finish.
@@vernonsmith3609 I think the thing that did them in was they tried to hard to link first class and days of future past to the first series of films and didn't really have the guts for a proper reboot. We need a rebooted x-men that has a more comic accurate team (maybe the original line up before wolverine was introduced in incredible hulk and he could be recast and introduced in the 2nd or 3rd installment) that doesn't waste so much time on tertiary characters and focus more on establishing a flushed out and colorful world for interesting characters to interact in and writing those characters in a way that doesn't feel like the entire script was written whilst coming off anesthesia from dental work.
I think there would be a different reaction, possibly acceptance or optimism, if the final X-Men film was First Class, Days of Future Past or Logan. Because this film follows Apocalypse I think the overarching sentiment is 'Just die already.'
or they could introduce new interesting characters. the only good characters are: wolverine, magneto, xavier and quicksilver powers the rest? they failed with them or they could create new arc with their main characters but they couldn't they had many movies but they couldn't create anything new
Frankly I just hate every movie studio that isn't marvel. This probably makes you dismiss my opinion but I cannot justify Fox and Sony's stupid movies any more. They are operating as if it is 2007 when it is 12 years later and their movies show. X-Men could be so much better and all we have to show for it are three movies set on earth that deal with ham fisted anti-racism and two attempts at trying to compete with avengers: infinity war that just stink of 1990s action movie tropes. Anybody who is giving these movies a passing grade (C or higher) should be ashamed of themselves and their objectivity questioned. The only travesty is that there aren't more obvious box office flops like this. I wish Venom flopped this hard. I wish BvS, JLA, Shazam, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and so forth flopped this hard. But people will watch literally anything no matter how often that studio has released garbage. Oh this time it will be different. Then the studios realize they are making a profit no matter what they do and as a result we get movies like we do.
I actually found Jean's ability to fight the influence of the phoenix inspiring, because I thought of the phoenix like the blind anger I used to have as a teen that I felt wasn't really "me".
There was no need to do this movie, and Apocalypse already had let people down. For me, apart from these reasons, the only thing that stopped me from running to theaters was the fact that mystique was a hero AGAIN. The rest is the fact that from the trailer, the premise and the story all seemed to be collecting the same exact mistakes as Apocalypse. And no, there hasn't been enough of mentoring Prof X, in fact, we never had this with McAvoy. You know what else we haven't had enough? CYCLOPS, this movie should've focus on cyclops, maybe even giving him the Phoenix, or having facing the brotherhood all lead by Magneto... in Genosha, or Asteroid M??? There's many good elements from the comics that are iconic and missing from the franchise that would've make a good ending.
The story was a little off but the fight sequences in this movie were amazing. Not saying that this movie is better than Captain Marvel, but I felt WAY more satisfied leaving the theater watching this than I did with that movie.
*Q: What X-Men Dark Phoenix is Missing?* *A: MARVEL! The people who created it. The people who LOVE it. Fox never CARED about X-Men. It was always about money.* The casting was screwed from the start. If you are a youngster in your teens or twenties, you grew up with it, so it probably doesn't bother you. But most of us who were fans in the 80's-90's always hated the casting of the X-Men movies (other than Patrick Stewart).
Thank you for spilling the truth tea. Good riddance, Fox-Men. Welcome back to Marvel Studios, merry mutants. Can't wait for Feige's take on the X-Men. It will be UNCANNY.
Unlike the dread people had about it, the movie had its highlights. The problem however, imo, is twofold: There were no surprises, the "surprise" of Xavier's mind trick was already strongly alluded to and didn't feel strong enough to send Jean Grey into madness (thus forcing Sophie Turner to overact for the part in order to sell the "madness"). Bad build up. The build up to the scene with Jean's father seemed extremely lackluster. I think the father having a more frightened response to his daughter's arrival would have been more appropriate. All we saw was a bad father, we didn't see the monster that the father thought he saw. The aliens felt more like a plot device than a character, too. I also agree that Jean Grey should have made the choice at the beginning, not Xavier.
My issue with the ‘Charles has an ego’ story is that the characters are behaving like Charles is acting like Tony Stark when he’s really being rather reasonable the whole film. It makes Mystique and Beast come across as if they are overreacting for the sake of dramatic conflict.
Yea I think the first hour had some really exceptionally character moments, and I also liked the celebrity study of the X-men and mutants. I feel the Morloks would have made for better antagonists for a lower stakes story that can explore class-ism among mutants.
@@psychegirl Yea it's frustrating as a fan. Mystique's scenes could have been shared between Scott and Storm. There was no reason for her to be in this. JLaw could get the same amount of screen time playing an anti hero like Loki. I feel they got the right balance of her character in DOFP. Turning her into a hero (and even worse, the leader of the Xmen,) was a betrayal of her character.
@@eon001 Oh man, I totally agree. She could have gotten some really good character development that way as an anti-hero. This whole leader of the X-Men thing is so forced. Her plotline in Apocalypse with Storm and others looking up to her like she's the great mutant savior is strange and jarring.

I would’ve ended at Days of Future Past. A happy and optimistic ending is something the X-Men honestly deserve after they helped kick off the new wave of comic book movies.

Well Jean kind of forgot that she had the phoenix force in Apocalypse
Well Raven acted like she didn’t almost cause the apocalypse 2 movies ago.
That wasn’t the Phoenix Force, that was stated to be telekinetic energy from her psychic powers. She has had it since X2.
@Kurt E. Clothier Are you saying that the filmmakers have been lying for 16 years? And in the comics it was her mutant power until all the retcons.

Can't wait for the pitch meeting on this.
Fox has proven to be efficient in messing with the timeline, and giving a $h!t about previous movies.
Actually super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Jean always had Phoenix powers (even in the original trilogy). This time, the solar radiation only enhanced it to the point where she couldn't control her powers.
There are no such thing as “Phoenix powers”.
What new abilities? It was stated that her powers were enhanced. Nothing about getting new ones. That is neither stated or shown.
Well Dark Phoenix has one big achievement under its belt.... it finally got released
Now we'll see if New Mutants ever does
Lol yes! ... That is one way to look at it.
New mutants is now in cinemas
Captain Midnight grew up as a Phoenix
I think when people say they should be older i think it has more to do with the passage of time:
First Class - 60's
Days of Future Past - 70s
Apocalypse - 80s
Dark Phoenix - 90's (from what I hear)
Seriously 30 years have passed but no one has really aged
Yeah, dont tell me they have mutant called Botox.
Hey now, no spoilers
:)P
@
Age-proof? Both Professor X and Magneto were already old men when they meet Jean Grey (who was a little girl) at the beginning of X3. Meanwhile, Wolverine lost his age-proof abilities in Logan and both Angel and Jubilee (in Apocalypse) are exactly the same age as they were in the original trilogy.
Honestly l feel like xmen dofp and logan should have ended fox xmenverse.

X-Men Days of Future Past was the perfect Ending and, Logan was the perfect Epilogue.
The cartoon in the 90's and comic retcons following Jean Grey's return took away Jean Grey's moral responsibility for Phoenix, but that certainly wasn't the case in the original story line. That was in fact, one of the central points of it--that Jean was seduced by her power.
Hollywood needs to NEVER hire Kinberg again. He needs to find a new line of work.
I know how it could have been great.
*If Fox gave the rights to Marvel right after Logan*
Infinity war was scaled down from the comic and still worked well. You had literal GODS trying to tzke Thanos down...
Yes! They mention the creation part so much in X-Men stories but rarely show it. Those ideas would have been awesome.
Just give Kevin his characters back
Well, only one movie to go and he'll have them.
So Pete Holmes' interpretation of professor X was truest to it's source material?
The problem is that this iteration of Jean and Scott were introduced in Apocalypse but barely had any screen time in that film and then were expected to carry this movie without any investment. You have to build up the relationships. At least Last Stand had 2 previous movies worth of character development to build on. (Can't believe I just defended Last Stand)
I WANT TO SEE PHOENIX BLOW UP A PLANET
which makes jean realize how out of her hands this really is and decides to take care of it herself before it happens again
Not a planet. A star. Have dark phoenix absorb all the power of a star, which destroys all life on the planets in that star system.
Agree. Jackman's perfomance did to Wolverine the same that Nolan did to Batman.
Jean wasn’t the protagonist in X3, she was a side villain.
Making everything revolve around Jackman was ultimately a problem. X-Men is not the story of Wolverine after all.
Look at the MCU, as big as Tony was they made sure the Saga was never just about him.
My first thought when willow came on screen was: LILY?!
They should have gotten a director with a unique vision like drew Goddard
It was just so underwhelming that I'm just happy that Kevin Feige it's taking over.
Kevin feige worked on the last stand and he also sabotaged this movie. He doesn’t have the best track record for dealing with dark Phoenix
It was all down to the terrible writing.
X-Men was just famous like the MCU in the 2000's but look what happened to this franchise.
What it's missing is people like me who actually appreciate it. I loved watching it. Dont know why so many people hated or disliked it. I saw it 3 times and liked it better than Appocalypse.
@To Release is To Resolve How is it a snoozefest?
We basically got
Wolverine and the X-Men 1
Wolverine and the X-Men 2
Wolverine and the X-Men: The Last Stand
Wolverine Origins
Xavier and His Uncanny Band of Misfits
Wolverine 5
Wolverine 6: Days of Future Past
X-Men: Apocalypse
Wolverine 7: Logan
Jean Grey: Part 1&2 crammed together.
True
Glad you mentioned Toad, he is a criminally underrated character.
People hate it because:
1. Quicksilver had less screen time
2. A dog died in it
3. It has aliens
You're saying something but your reasonings barely holds water.
Captain you are really helping me to look at movies differently u are really amazing thx

ikr, Joss 100% wrote Dark Willow to be like Dark Phoenix and they reference it a bunch of times in the episodes.
Sounds better than THIS train wreck already. 👍

Same
Dark phoenix was better than the last stand
*Q: What X-Men Dark Phoenix is Missing?*
*A: MARVEL! The people who created it. The people who LOVE it. Fox never CARED about X-Men. It was always about money.*
The casting was screwed from the start.
Magneto (Ian Mckellen) was Gandalf 😅
My issue with the ‘Charles has an ego’ story is that the characters are behaving like Charles is acting like Tony Stark when he’s really being rather reasonable the whole film. It makes Mystique and Beast come across as if they are overreacting for the sake of dramatic conflict.
What's it missing?
An audience
All right, I'll watch the video now.
It doesn't help that Sophie Turner's acting range runs basically between 'fragile' and 'weepy'.
Maybe if they didn't make it some "WAHMEN EMPOWAHMENT" movement,it wouldn't have been as bad as last stand.
To educate you, magneto showed up to kill DPx as loved mystque, so it was revenge.
Go watch Godzilla, its a funner movie.
Yea I think the first hour had some really exceptionally character moments, and I also liked the celebrity study of the X-men and mutants. I feel the Morloks would have made for better antagonists for a lower stakes story that can explore class-ism among mutants.
Oooh, that would have been INTERESTING. Great idea! Darn. Maybe someday.

Yea it's frustrating as a fan.
