My M140i is now STAGE 2+! Will it Reach 500hp?

- I've upgraded my M140i to the Stage 2+ package! This includes a B58TU HPFP from the GR Supra, uprated spark plugs, and a set of Forge charge pipes. Thanks to QS Tuning for fitting the parts for me, and Forge Motorsport for supplying the charge pipes.

So as everybody including myself said, no way was the DMS map putting out 486hp in your previous dyno video. DMS always lying about their figures it’s crazy.

Wasn’t it 460bhp before? Turns out a few of us on here were correct in that those previous dyno run figures were overly inflated

The pops and bangs trend needs to end
Noise during acceleration is an indication of power, decel popping just sounds like the tune needs leaning out. Fully agree with your statement. Even Fiat 500s pop 🤣
My F21 M140i xDrive got 502hp and 690Nm on MHD Stage2+. Only hardware changes are the TU-Supra-pump and a 200 cell downpipe. Nothing else. On my last 100-200 Run the car runs 520hp (1 degree celsius).

I got my car mapped by DMS and I'm not particularly happy with it (despite them saying it's making 460 with my stage 2 M240). Now watching this video and looking at what their figures and mapping reads on another dyno I think I'm gunna go get my car mapped by these guys.

Great results luke! Very concerning for me knowing my M2 has been previously remapped by DMS claiming big numbers. Think I’ll be visiting somewhere to get it mapped again.

First thing you need to change on M140: the bouncy stock suspension (damper)

Did you choose to have those pops and bangs? I don't know anyone who actually likes them, but they're even worse on the M140i because it hides that beautiful straight 6 sound on deceleration so all you hear is that chavvy machine gun sound.
On the dyno I noticed it, I think it might be 2nd or 3rd gear deceleration where there were barely any pops and bangs so you could hear the straight 6 and it sounded 😍
They sound mapped in (which I've always thought was so chavvy, like fake exhaust tips), because my old motorcycle which was 1200cc In line triple with an arrow exhaust and remapped popped and banged a little bit, but not like a machine gun. I'm sure someone will know what I mean, high performance engines do burble and pop a bit on the overrun, but not chav central.
Anyway, I know pops and bangs are popular now so you do you mate👍 maybe its just me that doesn't like them (hates them)
Can't stand them either mate, natural is way better. This fake mapped in stuff is rubbish. Sounds stupid, makes you look stupid, and tbh it's just my opinion but I can't see it doing the engine any good.

Great video Luke, just recently had a stage 1 done on my 140 at DBS Automotive, achieved a figure of 470BHP on the rolling which even surprised the tuners. All I have done is added a performance air filter and a replacement intake pipe. Not sure I will go any further without uprating the springs and suspension as well as an LSD. 👍😃😃😃

@Balls Deep Agree. Really don't see what is so great about these exhausts that crackle and pop. Doesn't impress me at all. I am impressed by engines that sound great - pure engine noise, but I think there lies the problem. Most new cars with high performance engines sound very bland. A loud exhaust is the only way they can sound interesting and characterful - if that is what you think they are....
Hate to say it, but I also hate the pops & bangs.
@Balls Deep all zf auto has farts when you put an aftermarket exhaust. They also come with small burbles standard but his are too much. Each to their own. But if he loves it then my opinion dont really matter. Hahha

Probably stock B58TU plugs. Not gapped.
În your previous vidéos you said that thé m140i runs stock 335-340 hp. After thé gpf delete you said it ran 363, and after STAGE 2, it got up to 486 hp. So when or why did it go back down to 430 and only after thé stage 2+ it again reached 480? At thé beginning of this vidéo after reading thé title i was sûre your m140i was going to get to at least 500, maybe 520...so, what happened ?

For the neigh sayers about DMS maps I had my 340i mapped by DMS in August 2018 and they logged 444.3.
5 months later I went to Surrey Rolling Road and they showed 454.0 bhp.
A friend had his 440 mapped at DMS and he got very very similar numbers to me on their dyno and on SRR's dyno.
DMS has an incredibly long record of over reading cars.
As the saying goes, fake it till you make it!

Why the hell didn’t we get the XDrive version of this car over here I’d have one in a heartbeat but the only thing that puts me off is that power in the wet not hooking up. I’m literally ready to buy a car ( 140 and 240 on the list) and all fingers are pointing to 4 wheel drive as the roads are like shit 80% of the time.
We never got it as it didn’t work with RHD.
I’ve got a 240i and with Michelin Pilot 4s tyres, it does put the power down quite well. But especially with winter, something like an rs3 or a45 would be better for grip
Next best thing is the 340i X drive i guess. Obviously more expensive if you buy brand new but most don't anyway. Just pick up 1 for the same price with an extra 20k miles?

@@propanex8162 I used to have a tuned M140i running E30. I know for a fact I made more power with the factory air box than an open pod filter on the dyno. The turbo is directly under that air filter on the B58 and without shielding and without significant airflow you’ll pull a lot of timing because of high intake temps. But that’s just my experience from hours and hours of dyno testing and thousands of miles of logs with MHD. But what do I know?

Wow - yr stage 2 vlog 25 July quoted 486bhp at DMS dyno post their remap. Here Alex at QST quoted yr car pre stage 2+ @ 430bhp......either QST Maha dyno is too conservative or DMS dyno was massively optmistic.....Oooppss

Litchfield sent me away saying I had 465hp in my m140i, got it dyno'd when home an it was 425hp... don't know how these places get away with having such a good name🤔😂. Maybe just my bad luck, did get a refund but was a wasted 2000 miles going there twice as I live in scotland and warranty is now fucked. Been told new hpfp would fix this too, wonder is some of the b58 pumps are weaker than others?

@@liamszafranek5459 it made 430bhp and 470ft lbs 638 nm of torque however I noticed my charge pipe had a slight leak this has been changed with mmr charge pipe and genuinely feels better im going to get another dyno run just to see how much more I have the car drives so well and with xhp gearbox software its lovely to drive

Sexy figures them Luke. Just had charge pipes, a chargecooler rad upgrade & stage 2 dyno tune from NV Motorsport in Birmingham on my M240i. 458bhp and 712nm. Have an upgraded clutch coming next week as I’ve worn through the stock one hahaha!! 🤣 Question for you: Do you recommend a new LSD or go for a 2nd one? Going to need one me thinks haha 🤣 Great vlog mate. We’ll have to put mine and yours together at some point if you fancy?

Mines is asbo loud in sport and sports plus, but compliant in comfort and eco with the flaps closed.

Yeah for me it’s hit far too extreme now and it’s gone beyond what I’d say is aurally pleasing. It’s up there with my mates b16 civic type R on a straight pipe for “ my exhaust fell off on my Corsa” kinda loud. If it’s all about complete loudness just remove the exhaust totally .
@@That1ne92 my M2lci has had the middle silencer removed it sounds perfect raw power from the 6 cylinder and enough noise to make peoples heads turn like what’s that. This just makes peoples heads turn and think what a dick. But to be fair driving it must be fun.

@@65BravoSierra86Where he last had it mapped they had purposely slackened the tie down's enabling it to 'climb the rollers'. Tuners often do this to increase the figures, whereas in fact its quite a lot less (10% sometimes!!).
For stage 2+ why didnt you get meth? You'll get over 500 just for cooling purposes. Shocking results from dms. More bhp gets around 430-450 on a stage one with 630nm...

A company called kelford have aftermarket camshafts and valve springs for the b58 that would probs give an extra 40hp
Standard internals can handle 750bhp
@@j.f.4765 Yh but valve springs allow u to rev higher and with cams the engine will naturally produce power in those higher revs plus with a turbo that loves high rpms it’ll make a good bit more power

Don’t.. pure turbos run 660bhp on a standard tranny. 8ZF is really strong, can handle 750bhp and 800nm

Pure turbo runs the ZF8 of the 435D. It's stronger. This one is ZF8-50. Other one is the ZF8-80 i believe

Car looks well and is producing good power, obviously the previous dyno (stage 2) was optimistic at best. Personal preference but I couldn't live with the pops and bangs. Cars sound so much better natural, and I feel everyone else thinks what a tit when a car rolls bye sounding like an ak47 🤷♂️
Dyno numbers are not a good metric. Track and 0-60, 60-130, 1/4 miles are much better.
Dyno numbers will vary GREATLY from one to the next, and that dyno sheet is worthless on the track.

You don’t need the extension you just need to turn the connector on the TU pump ,charge pipe is useless on the b58 and MHD is the best platform for OTS maps stage 2+.

I had to mute it during the dyno run... Bloody awful exhaust.. If I had that car and it sounded like that, I would never bother switching it on..

That car will be getting an asbo slapped on it anytime soon. If it doesn't go bang itself. How long before the clutch starts slipping with that amount of torque?

@@jamiedickinson5112 Yes, all auto boxes have a clutch. Some have a single plate clutch, some have a twin plate clutch. Depends on gearbox manufacturer.
@@ajh5552 you sound like a right wet blanket. By the way it’s multiple plate clutch packs in a ZF8, 3 packs in total. The gearbox is designed to take a lot more torque than this car is producing.
