    I think Scots pines are multi flush they sure Back bud

      Hi Ken, as far as I am aware Scots are short needle single flush. That is to say, if they are decandled they will produce a second set of buds but these will not reliably grow in that season, only the following year. So by decandling a single flush you will simply loose a year to have again buds in the same place as before essentially. If you pinch the candle or prune post hardening you will have buds at the terminal cut site but again these will only grow the following year. This is the information I have. Perhaps if the tree is extremely full of energy and it is decandled early enough the second flush may grow. It is a possibility but I think the point about multi flush pines is that they reliably produce a second flush that grows. If you have information otherwise, I would love to read about it.       @@rafi_N yes I listened to Ryan Neil and he said single flush for Scots I did decandle one of mine and man it shot out buds and half the needle size so yes not candles but aggressive budding back
