im so fucking happy right now. homme is the only man besides layne staley i ever want to touch a doors song. 5 fucking stars i wouldve sold my soul to be there
@@elblueblazerman, I wish I've seen them 30 times; I've been a massive qotsa fan since the 90s, and I've only seen them like 4 times lol Were you on some of the same tour circuits or something, or did you just really go out of your way to see them? Just curious And bonus question: what was your favorite line up you ever saw them play with; as far as band members, I mean (Like, with Alain & Natasha & Joey, or with Grohl & Lanegan, etc. etc.)
I remember being dumbstruck after hearing this piece in the Doors movie. For me it was THE most iconic Doors-song. Although I was never mad about the studio version, with the leads too penetrantly in the foreground. This however, totally hits the nerve, with the maniacally driving beat that makes you want to rip your clothes off and dance in the woods.
Xmas and my birthday at the same time, really, my favourite band of the 00's covering my favourite song from my favourite band before I got into QOTSA... The brain is melting...
i love how awkward josh looks without a guitar. out of all the gigs i wish i'd been to, this has got to be at the top. wow. what a bittersweet moment, such a shame that it came about because of the death of natasha shneider, but wow... does anyone have a full version of rickshaw from this gig? ack, i come just thinking about it.
Wow totally amazing cover of the Doors . As soon as i heard it I snapped my head around to make sure of what i was hearing. Qotsa are one of the last and best in music today and i completely enjoy everything about their music. Keep it up boys!
As said, if anyone could get close to Jim Morrison, then it must be Josh Homme. Same goes for the doors-qotsa. Versatile beyond explaination - just like the Doors. Both absolute masters of their own, individual crafts. Unlike any other. Harder to do anything original though these days I would say. The Doors were unique for their time. Unique and perfectly dark. I reckon QOTSA are the modern day equivalent. Dark as hell and totally unique from anything else out there. Fucking brilliant!!!
I like more the original version of The Doors but this cover is really good the legacy of The Doors is here rocking with all the power like in the 60 's!!!!!!! The Doors the best band of all times!!!!!
@glamdog69 Nobody said they were in the same league as those acts. I'm sure the members of Qotsa would be the first to say so. Just tributing great bands. They also covered Cream's "I Feel Free" at this gig, featuring Teenacious D. And given the reaction of the crowd which can be heard in the bootleg they did surprise the audience with those versions.
@glamdog69 you have NO idea how wrong you are hahahaha, josh homme is among the greatest musical minds of our time. and people will only really start to realize once he is gone.
@glamdog69 i wouldn't agree with you, beacause those kids you refer to don't know who led zep are,so,probably they wouldn't know who pearl jam or soundgarden are.if you're in to it,you know if not...well..
@Papatorrejano I don't think they will be forgotten, I think they will have maybe a cult following consisting of a minority of people.. they just ain't in the same league as the Doors, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, ect who for certain will be remembered down the line because they are legendary Immortal bands.. QOTSA are a now band that will eventually fade away and make way for the next big thing, which will also fade away.. it's just how things work now I'm afraid...
@Papatorrejano I'm not questioning their talent, i think they are VERY talented.. I'm just saying they are a flash in the pan and 50 years down the line there will only be a minority that remembers them..
I agree with 01Erlck01... the Doors original is better, but this is still really good. I'm really surprised. I don't really know a lot of QotSA but this will make me want to give them a chance.
@glamdog69 I can understand you don't like their version but to say they ain't innovative enough in what they do is just wrong. To claim Josh Homme's work will be forgot in 20 years is equal to say Hitler celebrated his Bar Mitzvah at a young age.
@glamdog69 LOL not innovative enough? Okay.....I disagree, and I'm sure many others would disagree with me. How do you compare QOTSA to Soundgarden and Alice in Chains??
@karavulgaris I can't stand Nickelback.. or any new music to be honest.. I do have some integrity come on.. hehe I suppose some of it is ok.. Of course they have a huge fanbase, they are popular right now but lets face it it is bands like Led Zep and The Stones who will be remembered by the majority.. look at bands like Pearl jam and Soundgarden, I bet if you asked kids about those bands they probably havn't heard of them... The same will happen to QOTSA also...
Nah I'm not convinced...Still a nice cover though.... I just think he doesn't have the voice or stage presance to pull this off.... Jim is a legend.. In 10 - 20 years these guys will be forgot about exept by their die hard fans...Why??? Because QOTSA arn't innovative enough.. they arn't doing anything that Soundgarden and Alice in Chains have already done.....
This song was alternative before the word had a definition. The Doors original (written in 1968) was SO far ahead of its time.
Nicely said. Listening to NTTTE is like hearing the birth of metal.
I have always said this. Very Metal and Goth at the same time.
im so fucking happy right now. homme is the only man besides layne staley i ever want to touch a doors song. 5 fucking stars i wouldve sold my soul to be there
Never let this video disappear.
best comment ever
The second I heard that organ riff, I lost my shit. I couldn't believe that they were covering The Doors, It was an amazing show.
After seeing queens over 30 times, this is my top moment.

Can't believe we just hit the ten year anniversary with this show. Pure magic.
Love to hear this with Lanegan on vocals.
I always thought that Josh Homme had a Morrison-esque feel to him and this just proves my thoughts.
My fave Doors song being covered by my fave band :D
Newfound respect for Queens Of The Stone Age! Great cover of a mostly forgotten Doors jam

They did a good job. I'm surprised more bands don't do Doors covers.

Josh is the Desert King or better the Palm Desert Spring King :) I love his stile.Anyway this cover is amazing love The Doors and QOTSA too.
i love how awkward josh looks without a guitar.

I love this song. It may be a song of the Doors, but if you told me five years ago it's Qotsa, I'd believe you, exept the voice of Morrisson ofcourse.
Wow totally amazing cover of the Doors . As soon as i heard it I snapped my head around to make sure of what i was hearing. Qotsa are one of the last and best in music today and i completely enjoy everything about their music. Keep it up boys!
Best cover of this magical song !!!!
OMG Dean Fertita playing one of the greatest organ songs!!!
hopefully they will play this song more often
First time I hear this...totally goosebumped.
RIP Natasha.
Awesome! Great Door's song covered by a great band!
there really needs to be a dvd of this show.
IMO that night contained many great live versions of their catalogue and this as a bonus.
Best Doors song
Why is there no studio version of this?!? This is awesome!!! Love The Doors version, but this is wicked in its own right!
This is absolutely great! I'd really like to hear this song as a future b-side. Love it!
WOW i´m really amazed this is so cool.
I love the Doors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool cover
What a view you had of this incredible gig... I wonder if a release will ever see the light of day. Beautiful from start to finish.

nice doors cover :)
RIP JIM

fuckin' rad!!!!

Agreed.
Pretty good....pretty neat....
QOTSA are the apostles of The Doors
not really. more like evolution from the Doors
@@Levente20 I will go with that
I like more the original version of The Doors but this cover is really good the legacy of The Doors is here rocking with all the power like in the 60 's!!!!!!! The Doors the best band of all times!!!!!

fuck yea qotsa!
Fuckin' cool.
what about kyuss??

where is josh's hair?
such a shame the person filming was in a bad sound spot and we can't hear the instrumentation
i dont particularly like the vocals but the drumming is kickass, and what i can hear of the guitar is pretty good too. good cover overall.
modern day morrison
prefer to hear this piece with keyboard, but QOTSA can make it work..i guess
great!!
but unusual to see josh playing no instrument :P
@kali524 Come on most people know who Led Zep are :)
@Papatorrejano I'm not questioning their talent, i think they are VERY talented.. I'm just saying they are a flash in the pan and 50 years down the line there will only be a minority that remembers them..
@karavulgaris I think everyone should hear them, just not on the fuckin radio
I agree with 01Erlck01... the Doors original is better, but this is still really good. I'm really surprised. I don't really know a lot of QotSA but this will make me want to give them a chance.
