  • Yes, I finally bought my grail watch. In this video my review and first impression on a Rolex Explorer II 16570 Polar from 2002.
    It's funny how the watch collection hobby turns out sometimes.
    We are all always on the lookout for that one grail watch.
    A watch that will rule them all.
    The watch will stay in your collection forever.
    My grail is this Rolex Explorer II 16570 Polar. Well, at least that’s what I am telling myself for the past week.
    My interest in this model started many years ago with a vintage Rolex Explorer II 16550 Cream dial.

    I agree with everything in this bid. 90s rolex was their peak. 16570, 16233/234, 18238.. it’s all perfection

    Great grail watch! In my opinion one of the best watches ever made. The history behind this model is truly amazing. Enjoy in good health my friend 👍

    Nice ! The one I have which feels close or similar is a 2001 Omega 2231.50, not a GMT, but very much a discreet, strong, toolwatch. Enjoy your Explorer 2 !

    Congrats my friend. I thought my grail was the 41 Sub after purchasing it wasn’t excited or enjoyed it. I then got rid of it and got the 216570 Polar! Couldn’t be happier I love looking at the dial I’m obsessed with it! It’s my one watch collection, one day would love to add this piece, it’s a bit smaller on my wrist but I love the vintage charm. Truly enjoyed your video and subscribed.

      Thanks so much. Appreciate it. 216570 is an incredible watch. I wish I had a bigger wrist for that model :)

    Congratulations 👏 I agree. New models are better made and are bullet proof. But for me wearing an older Rolex is like driving a 70’s sports car. It is fragile, lacks technology, and is not always that reliable, but it has soul. I will take that any day. 🥃

    I have a new Explorer 124270 (coming up on a year of ownership) but this was the first Explorer I wanted. I still check dealers for them a few times a week as my watch savings get closer to being able to obtain one. If Rolex doesn’t shrink the current Explorer to 40mm this year I think I’ll finally get one. I still think it’s one of the best looking sport watches of modern times.

      I would agree. The black markers and hands make the dial very readable. The complications here are more useful compared to Daytona :)

    I’ve started appreciating polar more and more in the point that I think will be my next purchase . The fact that is a professional series Rolex but with white bezel makes it more unique and standout model in a collection. I liked the new version but is huge ! Too much for tool kind of watch ! Currently I traded my Airking and my datejust for a submariner Starbucks in gray market. I know I lost in trade but Starbucks is my grail watch and didn’t want to wait more plus even if I was buying retail at this point I have overspend in watches the last two years so I have to let some go in order for a new get in / I have some remorse but at the end of the day you cant always win in this game because collectors go with passion and dealers with logic . Nice video my friend

    Many congratulations. I remember you saying you had Rolexes before but to me nothing as special as a Rolex on the wrist or even 1 in my case (126900) for special occasions. Wear yours in good health and keep up the great content!

      @OneManReviews  Год назад +1

      Thanks, Andrew! Yes I used to have two Rolexes before. But was thinking about the Polar Explorer II for quite some time. You have a great watch. I actually tried the new AirKing it looks amazing in the metal. One of the most unusual Rolexes in their current catalogue.

    Good for you.
    As one may know: Smith's watch ( nothing to do with the new company that bought the name) sponsored the Everest attempt( good investment); apparently, Tenzing Norgay either wore a Rolex or had it in his bag(?!).You couldn't make this stuff up.

    • @OneManReviews
      @OneManReviews  Год назад +1

      Thanks. That's a funny thing with the Explorer and Everest. There is no evidence that Rolex made it to the top back then (he and Tenzing Norgay had Rolex watches around). Smiths, at the same time, sir Edmund Hillary, carried it to the summit.
      Ironically Rolex was able to make much better marketing out of it. The brand tied itself with Everest very tight.
