You forgot to mention one major selling point. Edmund Viesturs, the high-altitude mountaineer, climbed all 14 of the world's eight-thousander mountain peaks, wearing the Polar Explorer. He also achieved this without any supplemental oxygen. The Explorer line of watches is the last remaining pure tool watches in the Rolex professional sports series. Whilst the Submariner, GMT, Daytona, Yachtmaster & even the Sea Dweller have all been created in precious metal, the Explorer has remained a steel sports watch. The true tried & tested, rugged instrument for professionals.
Great video my friend . You have made me like this watch a lot more, particularly your chosen reference! OBVIOUSLY!!!! It doesn’t come close to my Explorer 1 214270! It has a lot going for it with the date and GMT complications! What happens when it’s the 2nd of November in one country and 1st in another????????? NOOOOOOOOOOO !! The system breaks down!!!!!!! Only joking........ but am I?????? Great production as always Sakib!
I bought mine in April of 2019 for $5800, and that was right on the cusp of when prices started to trend upwards fast. A few people “who know”, pressed hard saying “if you want this watch, get it now!!” They we’re right. Values are now nearing 9k for these, and it’s a watch I have desired for years just because of its uniqueness and underdog status in the Rolex world. Not to mention, it takes a lot for a watch to be able to execute a white dial well. Not many watches have. This is one of the very few that have done so perfectly. One of my favorite watches ever, more than my 2020 Submariner, Omegas, etc.
Awesome Watch and l love it! Love the white dail and l like the 42m white dail to Going to purchase 2 of them soon its a must have in any watch collection.
I have a 16570 Polar with Cal. 3186. Engraved rehaute, solid end links, screws for the links, box-papers and freshly Rolex serviced. Also, never ever polished. :)
I also have a 16570 black dial 3185 though (2006 model) bought here in the US at the same dealer this guy turned to, price reference: US $ 5200 in March-19, in my case I appreciate the black dial better compared to polar
@@WindItOnTheMove I will eventually get both. Do you think I should pull the trigger on the 116600 first since it was produced for 3 years= harder to get in the future? But at the same time the 50th anniversary for the explorer is coming up and the prices might shoot to prices that are not in my comfort zone for an explorer. Ugh such a hard choice lol
@@WindItOnTheMove Thanks for your response! I actually prefer it white as yours, I've a M serial so 2008 or so, and my lumes are permanently offwhite/greenish even in day light. Was yours like this too?
@@WindItOnTheMove thanks bud, I think it's just the lighting in different videos, resulting in the hour markers looking pure white when in reality the super luminova lumes are inherently off white / greenish
It’s more popular because people can’t get the Explorer, so they went to this model. These were 4K used all day long on the used marked a couple of years ago and they blew up because of Instagram and “influencers” who couldn’t get the Explorer and got these. They are certainly not worth more than retail and should be selling for half of what they currently are.
no offense - but good gawd I hate the explorer 2. there is no more generic, plain, just run of the mill, passe watch in the entire industry. And unless you are crisscrossing timezones on at least a monthly basis it is not even practical. In fact, all of the oyster cases piss me off at this point. I appreciate their time tested quality and iterative iimprovements over decades, but it is just so damn boriing I cannot stomach them anymore.

No, there is absolutely no magic in this watch. Looks cheap imho. There is no character in its face, sorry. The bezel no contrast to the steel. The markers no contrast to the dial. You can call the lack of any character ‚understatement‘ if you like, yes. I just want you to know that there is a different view concerning this watch. Honestly, I wouldnt give $ 500.- for it except probably for investment reasons but I would never wear it.
Totally agree with you. Wait till the 50th anniversary next year. Should help this ref to also grow.
Definitely! Can’t wait to see what Rolex come up with for the 50th anniversary 🙌

@@WindItOnTheMove they haven’t made the 50th anniversary unless it was not the Explorer 2
I bought a Polar from Phigora about 3 years ago. Also got my wife a Gold ladies Rolex. The 16570 is a super watch. Not surprised it's gone up a bit.
Great review. Thank you. I have one and love it. Would like to add the black dial too.

Thanks. I was just thinking of buying this watch for mountain climbing and cave diving trips.
Do you préfère compare to a sub 14060 for exemple or gmt 16700 ?i hesitate
I purchased my 16570 with 3186 movement for 4500 in 2016. Having the 3186 movement is definitely the sweet spot when it comes to value retention

When you talk about watches show the watch more and your face less, unless of course you are more interested in grand standing.
