I polished my new black car last weekend using diy-details line up. Rinseless, iron remover, decon towel, rotary polisher, red pad and gold standard polish. Never polished a car in my life before and it came out looking super shiny. Super easy to do. If i can do it so can anyone.
Thank you. What car?
2024 camaro.
Beautiful
@@diydetailofficial thanks. Looks even better thanks to you guys.
Really loving the consistent content. I just want to say that the b-roll Sylvie adds is always appreciated.
I appreciate that!
You two are making the rotary into a must have.
Thank you.
I often hear dual-action mentioned in videos about rotary polishers and vice versa. I feel like this is a topic beginners like me would appreciate clarification on 😓, especially since the simplicity of DIY's product line is what attracts many of us. Which would you choose if you could only have one? Which would be best as a do-everything polisher?
I want to start polishing but I don't like the idea of having *two* machines, especially if *one* can manage to do the job of both reasonably well. Cost is a consideration, but so is storage space and wanting to own only what adds value. The rotary seems to be Yvan's favorite. If beginners can unlock the benefits of using a rotary and shouldn't fear them, what is the selling point for dual-action?
Maybe this could be a mini topic in a relevant podcast episode if it hasn't been discussed already. Thanks! 💜
A dual action will be more agressive . If your vehicles don’t need heavy correction, use a rotary.
I was afraid to get a Rotary. But after seeing your videos. I'm going to order 1.... let's do this boys...
Let’s go!!
I’ll grab a red pad and try the rotary one day. It doesn’t look difficult.
I saw the same car at a car show on Sunday. It was covered in fine scratches. This one looks super glossy!!!
The rotary is super easy.
@@diydetailofficial It looks it. Like You’ve both displayed, hold it gently, low speed and let the machine do the work.
What would you guys recommend for a 1 step (mild correction).
DA or the rotary ?
Thank you 😊
Whichever you have
Anxiously awaiting! Gunna be a good one!💯💪🏼
Thank you.
good for you guys for pointing out that polish and wax aren't the same thing - I'm the detail/gel tech at my marina, and even management doesn't know there's a difference lol.
Thank you.
Will you ever incorporate a variable speed trigger in either of your polishers? Why didn't you add it to your Rotary or 25MM DA?
Thank you
Not at this time. In a survey conducted when we designed them, 72% preferred not to have a variable speed trigger
SUPER EXCITED FOR THIS ONE!!!
Thank you.
Hi Yvan, I really love your content and I find your tips super helpful! I'm interested in looking into the option of receiving some coaching from you. How can I learn more about your coaching services?
Send me an email yvan@ diydetail.com
Where did you get the polisher rack on your detail cart? And the cart itself? Looks like a great, efficient set up!

First, the rotary IS the business. Nothing cuts or finishes better or quicker with less stress on you and the paint. Simply put, they got it right the first time around. I would say DA’s are good for just waxing but rotaries do it better. Unfortunately, I have bought several DA’s over the years. They’re fine, no complaints … but I was apprenticed on rotaries and they’re just what I’m comfortable with.
My “down the road neighbor” has this machine in the video. I’ve used it. Now I will say that it does have some quirks, but it’s (overall) a damn good rotary. However, the Rupes is just a superior machine and only $50 or so more. I’ll be sticking to my Rupes. Not throwing shade, just expressing a preference.
As for polish, well … I exclusively use Menzerna. Even though I haven’t tried DiY polish, I see no reason to at this point. I have used DiY Rinseless for polish clean up, though, and it works fantastic.
😊😊😊
Thank you.
Great video guys!
Thanks so much!
Cool chill video DIY team! I've got two questions:
1. How long is the shelf life of your chemicals (water spot remover, panel prep etc.)
2. Is the rotary and DA avaliable in EU?
1 year, coming to the EU soon
@@diydetailofficial Thank you!
If you do come out with an EC Brushless, cordless rotary polisher, have you given any thought on having an electric button switch that allows instant switching between speed one for polishing/working and full speed for "drying" out the pad? Similar to the mode change button on milwaukee m18 impact drivers/wrenches?
On an enclosed cargo trailer with the pre-painted .030" or .040" aluminum skin, do you recommend just using an orbital sander, red jeweling pad and the app since the paint is thin? Or do a quick pass with the rotary and red pad first? I've never actually measured the thickness of the paint on a cargo trailer but it sure looks like it's as thin or at least close to as thin as aircraft paint. I'm a little afraid of using a 21mm polisher with the yellow pad due to how thin the paint appears, but maybe it's no big deal if kept to just 2 section passes.
Do the least amount of polishing possible.
I dont have any machine to be able to polish, should i buy a bauer sander or should i buy a da or rotary machine, thanks! Great videos
It depends on what you’re wanting to accomplish
@@diydetailofficial thanks for the response, im trying to get light/medium swirls out so i can then apply the graphene coating, paint on my car is not bad but theres some swirls

Great video guys 👍🏼👍🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Appreciate it!!
When will your 15mm da be available ?
October
Exciting!
Thank you.
Brilliant
Thank you.
Ok Ivan so I want to remove scratches and swirls from my Fiat Abarths paint. What should I start with as far as pad type?
Try the red Jeweling pad first
So I have a customer that wants their boat washed would rinse less wash be OK for their gelcoat and lasts and their boat and all the stuff inside it should be safe right
Yes
@@diydetailofficial thanks 😊
What would be the best dilution ratio with all clean for bug removal? Thank you in advance for your time
15/1
@@diydetailofficial 🙏
Can you polish a car that has PPF already on it?
Yes
Excellent video. I just got a DIY rotary after watching your videos, so I will be giving it a try next week before ceramic coating my new car.
Any efficiency tricks on polishing cars with matte paint trim? I have worked on a few Japanese and Korean SUVs with matte silver/gold painted trim with very intricate designs nowadays. It has been time consuming to tape all around for polishing.
Unfortunately you need to tape
Ready
Thank you.
When will the stack 8 + 5 be available again? Thanks
We have never sold an 8-5 stack. 8-3 or 5-3 are the options
@@diydetailofficial Sorry, 8-3 and 5 -3 I meant are both sold out
They are both in stock
@@diydetailofficial thank you I saw last night and ordered
The "flying buttress'" on the C8 are actually called the nacelles.
Do they hold a liquid?
The rotary is the goat. I'm sorry the but the so called RUclips detailers have given the rotary a bad rap
We are doing our best to return it to glory
Id prefer you actually show us the paint surface by using an inspection light
Hard to capture on camera
Wow, this is so simple compared to what I thought. It’s just like using a DA where you let the machine do the work and don’t put the pressure on!
Exactly
Next time, can you please put the car in the sun.... thanks
It looks great in the sun as well
