Two great messages in this video. The express message: "You have to accept your losses and move on." And, the implied message: Enjoy your health while you have it. Sorry to hear that your recovery is going slowly. I just hope that it goes well.
When you are older, healing takes so much longer, at 62 I'm a little ahead of you there. Be patient and don't rush anything, let it heal naturally at it's own pace so as to give yourself the best chance of a full recovery. I hope everything goes well and that you had a great Xmas and a Happy New Year, regards to you and yours , stay safe, ride safe and continue enjoying all that Thailand can offer you. :)
Hi Robb, So glad to hear all things went well and sounds like it was a very good experience and success. I liked the part about you knew in your Gut that Surgeon was the Right One, and sure sounds like it with as extensive of work that had to be done. I'd say your walking around and buying the Family Snacks says a lot ;-) Thank So Much for all your information and style, agree on the other channels but that's not the information nor content I was wanting to know and learn. I'd say you had a lot of Good Care and Prayers, Take Care, CK
It's done now and hopefully you'll be a new bionic man in the new year. Take it easy and do everything in moderation in the future. Wishing you all the best and good health for the New Year.
Excellent news Rob. I sincerely hope 2025 brings you pain free good health. I really like listening to your life stories so I hope that 2025 is a good one for you 😊
Sounds like you made all the right decisions. Wishing you the best for a full recovery! Don't be screwin' it up with any macho deadlifting now, ya hear! :) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Sounds like you made the right decision Robb. Are you looking at picking up medical insurance in Thailand? Heal up quickly. Here’s to a better New Year for you and Fawn.
I'm not a praying kind of guy, but I am talking to the guy for you. I don't know you but I have totally enjoyed your channel and you have helped me tremendously, with my move to Thailand. Hoping for a full recovery, soon and a new you.
I can certainly attest to everything you said in this video. I'm currently in the middle of having 9 of my rotten teeth out and getting upper and lower partials. The cost is incredibly reasonable - less than 10% of what it would cost in the US. My dentist was trained in Thailand and 99% of his patients are Thai. Today he pulled 4 teeth and 12 hours later I feel completely recovered, ready for the other five in 3 days. I think the secret to the prices is that there are no middlemen in the process, ie. insurance companies, pill-pushing doctors and pharmaceutical companies pushing their wares.
There is some truth in that ... I just helped my dentist buy an examination lamp replacement direct from Philips for $4.79 rather than $98.00 from dental equipment supplier for identical lamp.
What up Robb! Hope all is well. Hope your recovery goes well. It's suppose to b 50 degrees here in Bad Axe Sunday the 29th. Take care and as alway's stay cool 😎 kind and generous.
Thanks, Biff. Hope your recovery is coming along as well. Hope to see you next year. I hope the lumberyard in Bad Axe is doing okay. I bought all the supplies for my cottage addition there- just weeks before the whole Covid debacle and prices went through the roof.
Great video as always thank you. And I appreciate you sharing your journey along this path because I myself might have to in the future. Get a hip replacement and I am thinking about Thailand as not having someone to care for me after surgery here in the states so that's definitely a good idea over there.
Good to hear your surgery went well! Be careful on your new bike! Have you seen the new Honda bikes for 2025? They are looking good! Mike, Indian Chief rider and classic Hondas 60s rider.
Hi Robb I had almost the same situation. I came to Pattaya to live in August and 1 month later I went to go get a deep tissue massage because I woke up with a pain in my neck. That evening the pain got worse radiating down my left arm and I started to have numbness so I went to the hospital. After a few weeks of wait and see ,MRI, X-ray and CT scan it became apparent that I needed urgent surgery for my C5-C7 discs which had been ruptured. I had actually gotten Thai health insurance one week before my injury but they refused to cover at the time because they had to investigate whether it was a pre-existing condition or not. I did not have the money up front to pay for the surgery so I went back to California as I still had health insurance there. I had the surgery and recovered for two weeks and received docs approval for travel back, as I had spent one month in total there in hotels and ordering doordash. I was alone and it was very difficult emotionally and physically. I was concerned traveling back as I had to lift suitcases on the plane overheard compartment many times and carried a heavy backpack. I am sure my doc would not have approved if he knew I was going to have to do all that. I don't think I reinjured the fusion but it was a worry when I first returned back to Pattaya. Looking at it now, the amount I spent in deductibles and for the month I was there was about the same as if I had just stayed in Thailand but hindsight is 20/20. Anyway, just wanted to share since your video really resonates with me as to the similarity of our situations. I am healing up nicely with just a little soreness to deal with now. I wish you the best in your healing process as well.
Yes-after my S1-L5 at 53, my surgeon in Los Angeles said surgery would be 3x as difficult at a later age! God bless you! I understand-At least here if we have a medical issue, a pretty Thai will care for us!
The only time I felt like I was actually cared for in the hospital was after open heart surgery in Jupiter Florida. I'm saving this video for the info when I'm in Thailand
I had my wrist fused at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital in Bangkok. It cost me $11K and I could not be happier with the outcome. I checked with Bumrungrad hospital, and I didn't feel it was any better than some of the other hospitals. I researched several hospitals in Bangkok, and I personally interviewed 4 orthopedic surgeons when I went to Bangkok. I decided on a Friday and the surgeon operated on Sunday 2 days later. This was one year ago, and it went perfect. What most people do not know, is that most surgeons in Thailand work at probably 2 or 3 different hospitals on different days of the week. ... Sounds like your doctor back home just wanted to get some more money out of you. Sounds like you found a great surgeon!!! That surgery would have been 10X in the states if not more! (without insurance)
I found the same with doctors working multiple locations. Last time I went and treated myself to going to her private clinic that only cost an extra 300 baht to visit there. Love Thailand structuring giving some options to what you want and budget 😊
Last year I ended up at one of the leading hospitals in BKK with a head injury. The care was excellent. Total bill was about $1,500, including ER, two days in the hospital and all medical costs, meals, etc. The room was like a Four Seasons. Contrast this with a friend of mine here in California who was knocked down by a car while walking. She was taken to the hospital in an ambulance for sewing up her head and quick CT scan. She was out 1.5 hours later. Cost was $40,000. (Oh, and the driver fled the scene.)
