Quick question! From one of your old videos you mentioned about the health insurance. Nomad(safety wing) with recently moving to Bangkok with my wife and 2 kids I went online straight away. Seems like a good insurance but it doesn’t cover heart/cancer/strokes. Can you recommend any other insurances for a family. Cheers Andy Glad your ok too 👍
Last year, I underwent the same checkup at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, including a dermatologist visit. I didn't have any symptoms, but the dermatologist advised taking a biopsy from one mole. I did so, and it turned out to be skin cancer melanoma. Thankfully, it was in the first stage, and they promptly removed it, so I don't need any further treatment. The doctors in Russia failed to identify it. If I hadn't done this checkup, my chances of survival would have been slim, as melanoma is one of the most aggressive types of cancer. Great medicine in Thailand.
Russia medical system aint exactly top of the food chain. *welp* Good thing about Thailand all docs are UK or US board certified. Much more rigorous residency after graduation.
I hope your doctor scheduled you for semiannual return visits to closely examine all of your skin to make sure another melanoma does not occur. Apparently, if you have one your chances of getting another are increased. I had the same thing happen to me and was surprised at how much tissue they removed for a rather tiny spec on my back. I still go back once a year for a head to toe skin inspection by my dermatologist.
@@MrPatrickKelly Sure, I visit the doctor every six months. Recently, we removed a few moles because the biopsy revealed they were precancerous. Thankfully, I was smart enough to buy expat insurance with cancer coverage, and it covers all cancer treatments.
It’s hard to doctors as well. Are you sure it was really cancerous. Did you took others hospital doctors advice as well. I don’t believe advise of one hospital doctors. These five star corporate hospitals have targets, in last 20-30 years medical world have changed, guys please take care of yourself accordingly Insurance companies and hospitals have unholy ties sometimes. Looking at fancy hospitals doesn’t always means world class moral practices as well Wish you all the best
I am Thai but I live in Germany now. I can now compare and say out loud that medical service is Thailand is one of the best (if you get it from private hospitals). Doctors are well-trained. Nurses are kind and sympathetic. The cost is much cheaper compared to what you get. Leading hospitals like the one in the clip invest in new technologies regulary as well. I really miss how fast I can access to medical treatments. In Germany, it takes me weeks or months for any treatment. The saddest part is that I am paying here more than what I paid in Thailand for this lower quality..
Greece has perfect hospitals but private.Seems everywhere medical treatment is bad.Not all German docs are good, almost died from an appendix in Munich 😢😢😢
I unfortunately had to go to the emergency room in Chiang Mai, Thailand two weeks ago. The experience amazes me. The medical staff are ever so friendly. They offered me an interpreter to make sure I understood everything. They even prepared the insurance documentory for me just in case. Luckily my injury was a minor one. I'm thankful to the hospital and the professional treatment they gave me.
I'm so HAPPY Chris , This video really is what made me decide to retire in Thailand . I'm 60 and in very good health for now , i do my best to take care of myself . This is exactly the video that I needed to see for my final country choice . Bumrungrad Hospital is as good and even better in many respects than anything I've seen in Canada and the USA I'm from the Montréal area and will visit Thailand soon . I'm thinking about Hua Hin as a base to travel to many of the places you showed me over the years from more than 400 videos Hope to see you to thank you in person for helping me make a good decision for my future happiness Mario
Hua Hin is an excellent choice for a retirement. Small enough to be comfortable and has all the shopping need of the Western need. I am a Thai and I am heading there in a few years for my retirement. The Bangkok Hospital is there on the Main Street. And I myself is a practitioner in vibrational therapy (Rife frequency and Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy). Currently have an office in Bangkok and will be moving my office down to Hua Hin. Getting your feet in the sand and having a good swim in the morning at sunrise are exceptionally good feeling.
I am from Montreal too, and 60 years old like you, in Thailand since 2017. I went to BKK hospital in Bangkok, 5 stars service there too, very satisfied of their service. I do not miss Montreal at all, Thailand was the good choice for my retirement, you won't be disappointed. Bienvenue dans ce Beau pays.
@@DuneKraftwerk Merci beaucoup , i will move to Thailand as soon as I sell my 2 houses , land ,cars and everything else that is cluttering my present life. Less things = more life No more tempête de neige.
Bumrungrad has enormous significance for my family. I lived in Bangkok for 5 years from 2001 and it was our go-to medical centre. My wife fell pregnant during this time and gave birth to our twins there, now, almost 21 years later we are soon to return to Thailand for our first visit in many years, with our soon-to-be 21 year old twins tagging along. I can’t begin to explain the memories and emotions stirred up by this video, suffice to say that we are so excited to be heading back there. I share this guy’s love for Thailand and its people, and also hope for nothing but the best for this amazing country. Oh, and I also took the big medical check-up every year at Bumrungrad! That tread-mill is seriously scary…
Thailand warmly welcomes you and your family again after so many years. Your daughters are considered partly Thai as they were born on the Thai soil and raised in their early years here. Thank you for the love and all the best wishes you have for Thailand. We are sending heaps of love and all the best wishes back to you and your family as well ❤🇹🇭
@@pwpw8822 thank you for your nice message - actually, we went to the hospital expecting one baby so it was a massive surprise for us to have twins (the best surprise ever). The first baby was a boy and brother to our two sons, then came our little girl. Their first 3 years were spent living in Thailand before I had to move with my job - all my Thai work colleagues loved it when my family came visiting my office. Wonderful memories and part of why Thailand will always be in our hearts.
The hospitals and medical care in the Philippines is Stone Age, went there and to wait hours before I saw a doctor, everything there is snails pace and still use paperwork, hospitals are in terrible condition, air conditioning doesn't work, I even saw a dog wandering through the hospital.
I'm from New Zealand and have been in 3x Thailand hospitals in my time. I have noticed Thailand hospitals are higher class, more staffed and service compared to my country and other western countries.
I agree with you about hospital in Thailand. Now I'm studying in Wellington. My Asian friends and I had the "difficult" time when we were sick in Welly. This made me think of the hospital in Thailand so much.
As a Thai who is now a medical staff in the US hospital. I can tell how lack of caring the western doctors can be due to because of HIPAA restrictions and the risk of EVERYTHING. Insurance premiums decides who lives and who cannot. It’s sad when I thought the US supposed to be the leader in this field as a first world country, but no matter how advanced the country is, it’s nothing worthy if they cannot even put that techs into use.
So true, doctor. All these USA hospitals keep advertizing all the hi-tech they have for various diagnosis and treatments but they do not mention you have to have top health insurance to be able to afford all those tests and treatments. I personally have been to Mexico and so have my neighbors for dental work because the oral surgeon there is super, caring and 1/4th the cost of USA.
Check hospitals in Hungary. Most of them are called as "factory of dead bodies" by people. Walls are breaking and falling apart. 50+ years old equipment. 6+ months waiting lists.
My friend worked for the U.S. Dept. Of Defense schools in Japan. She would fly to Thailand and would get the comprehensive health check up there at Bumrungrad. She said it was fantastic. I also flew to Thailand when i was living on Guam to have a skin cancer removed at Bumrungrad. It was walking into a 5 star hotel! Most excellent hospital. Your the best, Chris!
Did exactly the same check up last May, superb. I've had a Urinary track infection for about 5 years which my NHS doctors in England failed to identify. The hospital referred me to their urology department (seen in 20 minutes!) and 3 days later they had grown a culture and identified I had an e coli infection which if it remained untreated could have been quite serious. Been cured now for over a year.
@@heythave I only go by what a qualified doctor told me. Are you qualified? What the hell has e coli got to do with homosexual sex anyway. I am not and you are sick for suggesting that. Go back to playing with yourself behind your keyboard and creating libelous sick comment.
I had the physical done there. “ Head to toe in a half a day”. They found the very beginning of bladder cancer. I brought the info back home and it was confirmed. Removal was done right away. No problems since. They very likely saved my life. I remember that the baht was about 45 to the US dollar, so at that time, the testing was about 300 bucks. I would recommend it to everyone My US doctor was amazed at the amount of blood work they did. He said there were a number of blood tests that each would cost more than the whole physical if I had them done at home. I chose a 7 am appointment, was done and had lunch around 12 noon, then sat with the doctor to go over everything. Was out by 1:30
My dad just removed his bladder due to a cancer at Chulalongkorn hospital in Bangkok. It's public hospital. He paid est.$9,000 for a surgery and 2 weeks stayed in a hospital. I've no idea how much it'll cost in the US with an insurance.
I had cosmetic laser surgery work done at this hospital 3 years ago. It was my first trip to Thailand. From the check in to check out, it was an excellent experience. Very professional and efficient staff. Better and cheaper than any hospital I have ever visited in the US.
I went to Bumrungrad last January for a cardiology check. The doctor was a Captain in the Thai navy. Among other checks they did a heart ultrasound and then compared it to an ultrasound made after I had been through a stress ECG. The doctor could observe this in his office. He came in with an image from the original ultrasound and showed me how both were identical. One of the things I find impressive is that they get immediate lab results for cholesterol, blood sugar etc. Chris, one essential thing you need to do once a year, as a guy over 50, is get a urology exam to screen for prostate cancer.
It took several days in the US? This is interesting info. Our company in Bangkok provides annual medical check-up to its employees free of charge. I always turned up at the private hospital around 7 am and completed the similar check-up before noon (for 15 years).
you dont need to go to that hospital. It is very, very, expensive compared to other brilliant hospitals in Thailand. I go to Queen Siriraj in Bkk. They treat the Royal Family there, and is highly recommended by doctors. Having said that, you can get the full check up done at any government hospital, and they are absolutely fine. Bkk Hospital, Bumrungrad, great if you have the insurance or budget. For us mere mortals, loads of other places that are absolutely fine
Bumrungrad Hospital has always been a topnotch hospital with the latest equipment. I've been there for exams years ago and was always impressed with the high level of professional services provided there. Making an appointment online made getting in quick and easy, and avoiding long lines. I saw a neurologist and had an MRI scan done faster and far cheaper than having it done in the US. As it turned out, I had to be in Thailand anyway. I've also had a stress test done (in the US) at a heart center. Instead of a treadmill, I was given was a chemical stress test. As I understand, the stress tests are to simulate having a heart attack. It felt like having a full-grown elephant sit on my chest. I thought my heart was going to explode and was very glad when it was all over. The end result was that my heart was very strong and healthy.
The latest equipment is NOT what makes a hospital good; it is what the staff can do with it. You can give a bad cook the best ingredients but his/her meals will always be poor to mediocre. A good cook does not need top-quality ingredients to make a good meal.
@@nieuwegeljo5645 I agree. Having highly skilled staff is vitally important. However, based solely on my own personal experiences and research, the staff at Bumrungrad International Hospital are indeed highly qualified. The hospital and staff have top rated international accreditation. They are highly trained and skilled to use the equipment they have. That's not to say there aren't other excellent hospitals in Bangkok or elsewhere in Thailand. There are. But in my opinion, I'd say Bum's reputation is pretty much at the top of the heap with regards to highly qualified professionals and the best possible equipment.
Retired expat from the US living jn Thailand five years. Now livjng in Trang, near Krabi. Recently had a physical here at Wattapat Hospital. Beautiful hospital. First rate. Similar to your tests, maybe a couple less. No treadmill, not needed. Cost a small fraction of yours. Don't need Bangkok prices. Got a great checkup for a fraction of the cost here. Plenty of good Healthcare options in Thailand.
I have had that same Heath check almost every year from 2003 until 2020. Excellent facility. Also, I needed some records recently and their response was almost the same day. Incredible hospital. I have also used the Bangkok hospital system. Another great hospital.
Went to Bumrungrad hospital in Bangkok yesterday for a cold and congestion. Walked in with no appointment and was in & out in about an hour. Doctor prescribed 4 meds - 5 days of antibiotics, antihistamine, cough suppressent & mucolytics. Cost 4,000 baht.
A cold is a virus which antibiotics do not work for. Antibiotics should only be given for a bacterial infection. Unbelievable that they would give you antibiotics for a cold.
4000 baht is about $115 USD. A few years ago, I went to my hospital under my employer's insurance plan for an eye infection in the US. I paid a $50 co-pay before I could see a doctor. After I was seen by my doctor, I paid $15 for antibiotic eye drops, and about a week later, I received a bill for $150! Remember, this is my medical insurance plan through my employer. I pay a $100 premium through my salary deductions every month and my employer covers the difference. Since I didn't meet my deductible of $2K, I had to pay the full cost of the procedure! The insurance doesn't kick in until I spend out-of-pocket $2K per year! Do you think the health care system is broken in the US??? For the same eye infection treatment in Thailand, I probably would have paid $30 USD including the eye drops.
If your insurance covers it then, it's all right. If not, next time just ask for a prescription and only pay for a doctor fee/hospital charges. Normally, private hospitals in Thailand will charge 200%-400% over what sold in pharmacies outside.
Went to the hospital in Bangna and was absolutely impressed! Great care at a super price, better than I would have received in Toronto plus it included medication $100 in and out less than 1 hour. Wait times in TO are easily 4 hours and up.
Current Health screen price is 29,600 baht (£665 $847) for the comprehensive screening package at Bumrungrad hospital. The exact same package at Bangkok hospital is 17,800 baht ( £399/ $508). Pays to shop around guys.
I had surgery in a phuket hospital ( piac ) about 8 years ago qnd l could'nt fault a thing .. the doctors , nurses , admin were all attentive and first class ... everything was sqeaky clean ... the attention i recieved was so overwhelmingly professional it left me thinking we here in australia could learn alot ... l have no hesitation in recommending the hospital to anyone contemplating surgery ...
I had a hip replacement in Chiang Mai last year and the quality of care and services I received were on par if not better than anything in the west. And the price was just on 9,000 AUD for everything. The surgeon was top class and have had no problems in recovery whatsoever. Good as gold now.
Thailand has such top shelf healthcare. When we are there we are so comfortable and happy with the services of the hospitals and healthcare. Unfortunately we've had to go often when we are there (wife has some health issues) and it is always super. A major reason Thailand will one of the places we'll be spending significant time once retired in a few years.
Great you recorded this. I did the same thing at Samitivej Hospital . I think they covered the same stuff, I added a skin test. They also did a dental check up. I hate to think what would of happened if I had not done this. They told me there was something wrong with my heart, and my bladder, I had no symptoms I felt fine. My cardiologist rushed me to the hospital for an emergency stint procedure, all three of my main arteries were block, the LAD (widow maker) was 99% blocked the other were 85 and 70 My Urologist found a tumor in my bladder, its cancer, small and low grade but if left alone it would penetrate my bladder wall and I would have to have my bladder removed. SO I would say this check up saved my life. The total cost with the skin exam was USD 700.00 do it. I plan on doing this every year.
Love Bumrumgrad! I did this last Jan. funny I saw the same doc! She was so nice. I will be doing it again every year. so easy and 1/50th of the cost of the states if you could even get all of those test done.
Bumrungrad is the most expensive hospital in Thailand. It was acquired by Arabs years ago and they renovated the hospital and made price adjustments to target westerners. You are basically paying low-end USA prices. Their surgeries cost more than top USA university hospitals. Even this comprehensive test should be no more than $1-200 more in the west. And forget Samitejiv as well, they are the second most expensive. If you came to Thailand just to get lower cost treatments, I suggest Bangkok Hospital.
15 years ago I used to go there. I go to Vibraham now in Bangkok. I decided I needed to spend a lot of dough where I didn't need to. Bumrangrad is very expensive. Vibraham is ok.

I did this in April 2023 at Bangkok Hospital - diagnosed with fatty liver and 'abnormal' ECG. this was a wake up call to give up alcohol, sugar, and start intermittent fasting. Now i feel and look like i'm in my 20's (i'm 44) - ECG was a bit of a crock, i got a follow up Echocardiogram in my own country NZ and there was 'mild' thickening of the heart wall as opposed to LVH which was diagnosed in Bangkok. The fatty liver that was real though so out goes all the junk food. Also, watch out for the acceptable ranges they tend to be a bit too high, especially liver, uric acid and a few others. just because you're in the acceptable range doesn't mean you're in the clear.
Should you go for a third opinion on ECG result? I mean it's an image from ultrasound and each doctor may read the image differently. I used to alternate my annual medical check-up between Bangkok Hospital and Phayathai Hospital. Every time I had my abdominal ultrasound, a doctor at Bangkok Hospital would tell me I had a cyst in my kidney, but when I did it at Phayathai Hosital they said I didn;t. It was like this for 5-6 years. I later didn't do the checkup for 4-5 years. I just start doing again for the past 2 years both at Bangkok Hospital. They didn't detect anything this time. So, either the cyst was gone or one of the doctors just wrongly read the image.
You had several negative slopes on your ECG (Negative T-waves in III, V1,AVR) which can indicate that there has been a damage to your heart. Thats why she wants you to see a cardiologist. The negative T slopes were not deep which is good but still negative. No ST elevation or depression, no Q waves which is good.
Great video. Great hospital. My wife and I lived near there for a month while she was getting treatment there. She could go in almost any day if she was having a problem. No long waits. No months long agony to see a specialist like here in the US. The price very affordable and even staying near the hospital for a month was affordable. I highly recommend Bumrungrad.
Thanks for sharing this, Chris. I have a friend who was in that hospital for about 2 weeks very recently. He was very impressed with the care and service.
My experience of Thai hospitals is a mix. Town government hospital not really interested in a farang the emergency room curtains had old dried blood on them and very “grumpy” attitude Local village medical center was excellent, caring, helpful and informative Bangkok hospital in Chiang Mai was fantastic and obviously a lot more expensive than the government hospitals The essential thing you NEED is good medical insurance or deep pockets as without it you are basically stuffed Good vlog and as usual informative 👍🏼
Thank you so much for sharing! This looks amazing. I work remote in the US and am seriously considering working a month in Bangkok this November. If I go, I'm definitely making an appointment.
After years of back pain I flew to thailand to pay for an advanced spinal MRIs, consults and blood work at Bumengrad. You get results immediately because you’re paying cash, and they offer medications likely you won’t get from a Thai hospital as well.
I was very happy to see that the hospital has not changed. The wife and I had our lasik surgery, I had gold crowns, and we had several other things including the physicals done in the late 1990s. You are a brave man to let us see your physical. Larry Wharff, San Antonio Texas
You'll beat me on this: it took me 54 years to see a cardiologist 😂 Glad I did, as 3 years later, this September, I'll have a minor heart surgery, in order to avoid potential major heart issues in the future! Doing this complete health check was sure a great decision you made, Chris!
I underwent a similar checkup at Bangkok Hospital! Excellent service as well. Can't speak highly enough for the private hospital in Thailand. Dental is great as well!
If anyone is wondering this checkup cost 29,660 Baht or $856 USD. For example, if I break my arm and it cost $8K to fix it, I have to cover the first $2K before the insurance will pay for the remaining $6K! Do you think the health care system is broken in the US??? For the same eye infection treatment in Thailand, I probably would have paid $30 USD including the eye drops.
Reasons why US Healthcare is a MESS: 1) High Labor costs. Just think how much the people at this hospital make per day. 2) Litigation Costs. Just think how lawyers and medical practice lawsuits are filed. Does anyone think a foreigner can file a medical practice lawsuit in Thailand? The US heath care system never change. Only way would be to eliminated 50% of lawyers int the US.
@@robertpilling3863$_$ referral $, just Business, I guess. 😮 But also, final costs are unknown depending on insurance etc Too many variables except for the basic cash price without insurance, which is also constantly changing upwards.
Your experience here is far, far beyond night and day to what's happening now in the USA. I recently had my 5th colonoscopy due to my being high risk for colon cancer (my Grandmother died of it). Even though I'm high risk, I had to wait 7 months for the procedure. Even worse, it took almost 4 months for my 'follow-up' visit, in which I found out I now have diverticulosis, as well as the fact that the polyp they removed was an adenoma (I was told I was 'lucky' because it most certainly would have grown into a cancerous tumor). So yeah,, get that colonoscopy, it's no big deal. I guess the only real question for most of us is, how much did it cost you?
It's great to see how they do the cardiac exams there compared to my cardiologist office. I am older and had these tests once a year since 2008. I am 67 now. I enjoy your channel and learn much and enjoy your humor. I wish can take my Medicare benefits there.
I'm impressed with Thailand medical services. I get checked annually in California and have had everything you've had but it's done at different places. I like Thailand's way better. Should cost about 600? You left that out. I have great coverage here but will get extra coverage when I'm living in Thailand. Double coverage 👍
After 15 months of my radical prostatectomy surgery in Florida we went back to Bumrungrad since the pandemic had terrible bladder leakage from the surgery low libido no energy did a physical as I use to got referred to the men’s health clinic at Vitalife did three weeks of treatment on the Telsa chair approved in EU but not USA been totally dry saw my surgeon a month later gave him the results of my Thai doctor who started me on HRP USA doctor continued the treatment worth the trip and the money to feel good again been going to Bumrungrad for 20 years
Hi Chris, I did the comprehensive exam at Bumrungrad Hospital nearly 10 years ago when I was 45. Excellent service at a reasonable price and this is coming from an internal medicine physician, I recommend it to my friends too. Curious what they saw on your EKG to refer you to a cardiologist, nothing too bad I hope. Wish you the best.
I went there with Bupa insurance for a medical to go offshore. Ended up a day of full exams, had an echography of my ball sack as they believed I had testicular cancer all of a sudden, left with a bill of 80K THB. They saw me coming with private insurance... Now I go to lesser known hospitals and normally I received great service.
@@huzef I now go to St Louise hospital, semi private, very good treatment and not pricey. It does not have the comfy sofas and VIP treatment but it is great for the service
I used to live about half a mile away from there and have been there at least 100 times. Amazing place! I've been to many different types of doctors and they are all top notch. The food center has excellent food, too. I always buy a lot of take away food and stock up my fridge when I go. It's BUM-RUNG-RAAD by the way. (not GRAD at the end).
Thanks Chris, welcome to old age. Get the colonoscopy. Almost everyone has polyps that can turn cancerous. Also, go to the cardiologist and get an echocardiogram. Last week out of nowhere I had Afib for 24 hours in Kuala Lumpur. Stayed in the hospital for 1 night. Nothing wrong with the heart. The echo Cardiogram confirmed it. So you never know when this stuff happens. Good luck on your health journey. Oh, get an Apple Watch. That is how I found that Afib had started.
Cardio will do a heart ultrasound. Check all 4 chambers in-depth. You can hear your heartbeat under various tests really loud. There are 3 tests you shud do - Gastrocopy, colonoscopy, and anaoscopy. From your throat down thru your anus. The entire tube. lol.
I want to really thank you for your content. I have been watching for years and your content really demystify so many worries for me! This video alone calms my worries so much! Thank you.
Better service and seems more thorough than an American hospital. And the food! Unheard of here in america - you get a rock hard muffin if you're lucky!
I usually do a similar thing in India (which is also pretty well known for Medical Tourism). This hospital truly looks amazing and I will try is perhaps some time in the future. I wish they had such checkup packages for a reasonable price here in the United States, it would really improve healthcare outcomes.
Hello Chris P., what a fantastic content and i`m glad you did it and are in good health ! 👍 it is important to make it every year once again, and in this hospital you feel so comfi ! In my travelling years to Thailand i had some experiences in Hospitals, it was always superb ! I am a Nurse (for children) and can give maximum points for this hosp. it is a "WoW" from me !✌
the check-up you had is done in german hospitals before each hospital treatment. also during rehabilitation week stays. Germany probably still has the best health system in the world. There are state and private health insurances
I just shared this video with my personal FB account for all of my friends and family back home. It will interesting to see what they think. My wife and I just did those comprehensive packages last March, when we snapped a photo of you at Cloud 9. We both were really impressed. Thanks for showing the process. I guess I could have shown it too but I ain't no professional like the esteemed Chris Parker. 🙂 Thanks for your previous Dentist video too because we will be going there next week upon you recommendation.
This is awkward. I'm living in Thailand, and my wife literally told me we should do a health checkup for me and get some health insurance lol.... Chris, you're putting me in a difficult spot !
I have had executive physicals done at Bangkok Hospital (2015) and Bangkok Mission Hospital (2022). Almost all costs were covered by my Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance in the states. The $600+ all day exam in 2015 ended up costing me less that $70. My 2022 exam priced at under ฿11,000 cost me less than $40 after reimbursement.
I have Blue Shield (in California) and was told they do not cover any medical costs outside the US unless it's an emergency. So I paid for my executive physical in BKK out of pocket. About $700 at MedPark.
those dentist bp machines are waaaaay off. last week went to the dentist here in japan and my wife got alarmed at mine and i told her that machine is wrong. she mentioned it to the receptionist and she said that machine is a "little on the high side" yea thats an understatement. i think its to protect their butts if someone has a heart attack while getting a root canal
Quite a good exam and price at only $865 for this exam. I'm not sure I've seen this extensive of an offering in the US anywhere. It certainly would not cost this good. It's cheaper to fly to Thailand and get this exam than to do all of this in the US without heath insurance. Thanks for sharing.
well my insurance in USA covers me for a doctor's preventative health check every year, and they do all that same bloodwork. Cost for me is $25 per visit. Now they don't do the x-rays or ultrasounds or running stress test unless you mention an issue and then they send you to a specialist, which I have done for prostrate, cervical discs, lumbar discs, shortness of breath working out at gym etc....cost was just $40 a visit. The downside of seeing these specialists though is that they are usually booked up so you might have to wait weeks or even more to get a slot. But I think it's great he could do most of that in a few hours and that was a good price with no insurance.
Just stayed at a resort next to that hospital this week. Certainly a busy place. Meet a Canadian man at our resort going in tomorrow for a hip replacement at that hospital. Looks impressive. That’s for sharing Chris.
Private hospitals in Thailand always tell you that you need to see another tests or specialist, that happened to me and I had to go back to America to find out if I was exactly being charged for a test I did not need, and when I returned to America my doctor said there is nothing's wrong with you, that's the difference between free healthcare or paid Healthcare.😅😅
You're right on what you say, and for a side note, if you refuse to take those tests your insurance won't pay you because they will claim that it's a pre-existing condition.😮😮
as they say it Thailand, Same same , just different. They all do that everywhere, and when you don't have to pay out, they may say no test needed, when it is , but they don't want to pay either. I had a less extensive health check think it cost me 12,000 baht but absolutely worth it. That was about 2 years ago and next trip I plan to have a more advanced health check. I would highly recommend anyone especially if you're like me and can never get a doctor's appointment in the UK to get one of these checks.
Very interesting to me! And impressive! I have been communicating with Bumrungrad Hospital for a couple of months, but can't proceed any further until I'm in the country.
Hey Chris, thank you for doing this videos for us. I recently had an annual physical with same results. Never change your life style. Only adjust. Take care yourself.
Personal experience. I was not in BKK as a medical tourist. I had a genuine illness. I went to the hospital (I dont remember which one) and had the best service and attention. I would feel very safe if it happened again.
Hello fellow Canadian. I'm for London, Ontario. I'm teaching at a very good school: Ascot International School, Bangkok. I am impressed with the private hospitals here too. I just had sinus polyp surgery at Samitivej Srinakarin hospital. Amazing hospital like yours. I spent 3 days recovering. But I still have to take it easy for 2 weeks. What health insurance do you use? I have Allianz ayudhya. Insurance paid 350000 baht for me! Hopefully my sense of smell will come back soon. I lost it a year when visiting Canada. Take care!
I lived in Bangkok for a little over three years recently. Retired. Originally from the states. I had some medical issues during my stay. I also have ongoing medical issues which are treated by medications. The majority of the time I went to Bumrungard Hospital. I saw my primary doctor there and necessary specialists. I didn’t use any of the packages since my health insurance paid for it. I did have to have surgery there to have a kidney stone removed. Bumrungard is an excellent hospital. Earlier during my stay I went to Samitivej a handful of time It’s just like everywhere else. Some doctors are better than others. During my stay I changed doctors a handful of times. But the majority are excellent. So are the staff.
I was in Bumrun grad to...works fine ..proffessional...insurance payed..take a 10 min call to Denmark on sunday afternoon...as effective as in Europe ...

Seems like a good insurance but it doesn’t cover heart/cancer/strokes. Can you recommend any other insurances for a family. Cheers Andy

Thankfully

This video really is what made me decide to retire in Thailand .
I'm 60 and in very good health for now , i do my best to take care of myself .

I'm from the Montréal area and will visit Thailand soon .
I'm thinking about Hua Hin as a base to travel to many of the places you showed me over the years from more than 400 videos
Hope to see you to thank you in person for helping me make a good decision for my future happiness

We are sending heaps of love and all the best wishes back to you and your family as well ❤🇹🇭
What was the cost of the health package

It’s sad when I thought the US supposed to be the leader in this field as a first world country, but no matter how advanced the country is, it’s nothing worthy if they cannot even put that techs into use.
that's one of the reasons why many Americans are leaving the country.
I live in England, People abuse our system, They are trying to let America take over our NHS,
So true, doctor.
Thank you for your testimony!
WTF? Thats insane. Here in the US the quality of doctors has declined and they treat people like cattle. In and out as fast as possible.
How did they know you have had it 5 years?
@@dougdavis8986 they didn't, I told them. They did a thorough diagnosis

My breast cancer was discovered here in 2001 although I had my treatment in DC, I owe to the nurses and doctors. I ❤️ Bumrungrad ❤
Hello,
please can we talk personally.
Thanks
I had the physical done there. “ Head to toe in a half a day”. They found the very beginning of bladder cancer. I brought the info back home and it was confirmed. Removal was done right away. No problems since. They very likely saved my life. I remember that the baht was about 45 to the US dollar, so at that time, the testing was about 300 bucks. I would recommend it to everyone
My US doctor was amazed at the amount of blood work they did.
I'm impressed. This type of comprehensive check up here in USA would take several days and visits to accomplish.
Or months since they are backed up for appointments..
I go to VA facilities. Superb!
It took several days in the US? This is interesting info.
Our company in Bangkok provides annual medical check-up to its employees free of charge. I always turned up at the private hospital around 7 am and completed the similar check-up before noon (for 15 years).

The U.S. medical system, in my opinion, is now comparable to a 3rd World country. Services? What services?
@@gstellpflug well look who they employ. They hire the cheapest labor possible and now they are more concerned with what race people are.
you dont need to go to that hospital.

I have had that same Heath check almost every year from 2003 until 2020. Excellent facility. Also, I needed some records recently and their response was almost the same day. Incredible hospital. I have also used the Bangkok hospital system. Another great hospital.
Curious on what the cost was? Was it out of pocket or did you have some kind of insurance?
Bumrumgrad saved the eyesight in my eye. The doctors are absolutely insane and the quality is unreal.
I go there also every year. I fully recommend this great hospital. My doctors are wonderful..
Did you get your Booosters as well - I heard they're really important 🥕🥕🥕🥕
A cold is a virus which antibiotics do not work for. Antibiotics should only be given for a bacterial infection. Unbelievable that they would give you antibiotics for a cold.
This is the most expensive hospital in Thailand, anyway service is excellent with competence staffs.

Wow! Incredible care! So much better than in the U.S. You were treated with such respect. Glad that your results turned out overall very good.
I had a hip replacement in Chiang Mai last year and the quality of care and services I received were on par if not better than anything in the west. And the price was just on 9,000 AUD for everything. The surgeon was top class and have had no problems in recovery whatsoever. Good as gold now.
My Favorite Hospital. I’ve stayed 2x for Operation in Bumrungrad Hospital. It is no. 1 for me. But NOT so Cheap. 🙏
My cardiologist rushed me to the hospital for an emergency stint procedure, all three of my main arteries were block, the LAD (widow maker) was 99% blocked the other were 85 and 70
My Urologist found a tumor in my bladder, its cancer, small and low grade but if left alone it would penetrate my bladder wall and I would have to have my bladder removed.

I needed to visit the hospital in Pattaya and was astounded by the efficiency and professionalism with which they operate. The NHS should take note.
I can assure you I will not work for Thai wages. And that is why healthcare is rightly expensive
15 years ago I used to go there. I go to Vibraham now in Bangkok. I decided I needed to spend a lot of dough where I didn't need to. Bumrangrad is very expensive. Vibraham is ok.

Recap by Tammy AI
Keep up the intermittent fasting 👍
I concur, intermittent fasting does wonders for the body! 👍🏽
Is that a notched P wave at 11:20?
Great video. Great hospital. My wife and I lived near there for a month while she was getting treatment there. She could go in almost any day if she was having a problem. No long waits. No months long agony to see a specialist like here in the US. The price very affordable and even staying near the hospital for a month was affordable. I highly recommend Bumrungrad.

My experience of Thai hospitals is a mix.
Town government hospital not really interested in a farang the emergency room curtains had old dried blood on them and very “grumpy” attitude
Local village medical center was excellent, caring, helpful and informative
Bangkok hospital in Chiang Mai was fantastic and obviously a lot more expensive than the government hospitals

Take care of yourself Chris!

I'm impressed with Thailand medical services. I get checked annually in California and have had everything you've had but it's done at different places. I like Thailand's way better. Should cost about 600? You left that out. I have great coverage here but will get extra coverage when I'm living in Thailand. Double coverage 👍
Bumrungrad is great! I have been getting check up there for about 15 years. I have also had two surgeries there. Great place!
Outstanding video, thanks for sharing, subscribed!
Awesome, thank you!
I had an emergency situation in 2009 and I was surprised how inexpensive it was.
Hello,
please can we talk personally.
Thanks
I went there with Bupa insurance for a medical to go offshore. Ended up a day of full exams, had an echography of my ball sack as they believed I had testicular cancer all of a sudden, left with a bill of 80K THB. They saw me coming with private insurance... Now I go to lesser known hospitals and normally I received great service.
which hospital do u go to
@@huzef I now go to St Louise hospital, semi private, very good treatment and not pricey. It does not have the comfy sofas and VIP treatment but it is great for the service
@@laptoplivegaming thank u ❤
I confirm - Bumrungrad is THE BEST - absolutely recommended
Smart move Chris. Bumrungrad is a global first rate medical operation and once you have an ID Card, it's easy to return if you need care.
I think the medical tourism industry isn't covered enough. Thanks for this.
Great Message Chris, you also might add DON'T SMOKE!!! The old ticker hates it.
I love your Video. Good to know where to go when we get sick or for health. Thank you.
The entire tube. lol.
@@RedEye3The worst part of a colonoscopy is the prep (evacuation). You won't even get to 3 on a down from 10 count with the propyophol kicking in.
I want to really thank you for your content. I have been watching for years and your content really demystify so many worries for me! This video alone calms my worries so much! Thank you.
Better service and seems more thorough than an American hospital. And the food! Unheard of here in america - you get a rock hard muffin if you're lucky!
Ya if lucky for sure especially after you spent $50 on that muffin!
Excellent video the medical side of Thailand should be covered more I have always have had positive experiences.
I use to do those every year in the 80's...amazing!
This is awkward. I'm living in Thailand, and my wife literally told me we should do a health checkup for me and get some health insurance lol.... Chris, you're putting me in a difficult spot !
A little question about insurance : did you find an insurance that cover this check-up ? I would be very happy to have your regress
So how much did it cost
Last week I had the Male comprehensive test done at Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin. All good.
Just stayed at a resort next to that hospital this week. Certainly a busy place. Meet a Canadian man at our resort going in tomorrow for a hip replacement at that hospital. Looks impressive. That’s for sharing Chris.
Chris bamurangrad is a great hospital but with your Heath Ledger Joker voice narration it just makes it even better better to watch.
Stay healthy and go for broken bones, whenever possible. It's just Business, that's all, nothing personal. 😊
I had a less extensive health check think it cost me 12,000 baht but absolutely worth it. That was about 2 years ago and next trip I plan to have a more advanced health check. I would highly recommend anyone especially if you're like me and can never get a doctor's appointment in the UK to get one of these checks.
โรงพยาบาลนี้ดีมากๆค่ะ ดีทุกแผนกเลย การบริการเยี่ยม คุณหมอก็ใจดี ค่ะ(รอดตายหลายครั้งแล้วเพราะ ร.พ.นี้)
Been to Bumrungrad Hospital many times and I have to say its exceptional in every way. Great video!
Wonderful content, mate! The price is less than half a year of Medicare Part B premiums in the USA. Just the premiums!
Take care!
Great video. Thinking of a trip this winter and coming from Canada very much looking forward to it.
Earlier during my stay I went to Samitivej a handful of time
It’s just like everywhere else.
