I already watched a month or so ago and rewatched today to remind myself of the details! Thank you for such a detailed explanation! Excellent video! One thing that watching RUclips videos about crafting has taught me is that crafters are generally good people no matter where in the world we are! Let’s start a crafter’s country and everyone would love each other…wouldn’t that be nice?! Just a sweet dream. So glad to get to “know” some people around the world who are sweet and kind!! Good Luck you to you! 💕
Oh, what a lovely comment Donna! I agree, crafter's country sounds awesome, I would move there right away. I'm also amazed how many lovely people are crafters from all over the world and I feel so lucky to get to know some of them, including yourself. Sometimes I feel that my channel and the videos I make are like a window into the world. Thank you so much for watching and for this wonderful comment 😊❤️
Just to note that you are the only crafter I follow on RUclips (of the millions out there). I love your approach: Smart, clear, not wasteful, good narration, useful. Many thanks.
Oh, you're very kind! Thank you so, so much for saying that! I really appreciate it, especially because I admire and look up to so many crafters out there, and I hope to be as good as they are one day. ❤️❤️❤️
The Best 'book binding' tutorial anywhere - evey detail has been carefully taken care of. The best tutorial for creating a mini-album that will hold photographs & ephemera, and stay nicely closed without gaping. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I've been looking for this for years! ❤
Absolutely wonderful and professional workmanship. Love 💗 the paper and fabric you used. I agree with others that you have a very soothing tone to your voice and pleased as well that you don’t have music in the background. Hugs 🤗 from USA 🇺🇸
I appreciate how you show little hints, such as using thicker paper to create mini spines for each sheet, using your fingernail to tap down each page prior to attaching, tapping your glue-saturated brush into the crevices, and taping the insert pages, for a few examples.
Thank you for taking your time to show us a slow and detailed process of booking binding. I feel confident to give it a try and truly love your work ❤❤❤
It’s late for me but I’m glad I couldn’t sleep as I found this method of binding and your channel. So clearly shown and explained , I will watch your other videos in due time and I thank you for your wonderful page of priceless content, RITA
I am an artisan of paper and fabrics. I make greeting cards, keepsake boxes, and gifts. As of today, I’m adding journals to my repertoire! This is an excellent tutorial btw! Very well done!
I have made about 8 notebooks following your very clear instructions. I wanted to Thankyou for giving me the opportunity to produce these in a way that looks so professional. I appreciate you!
Very good idea to put other paper between the pages to make it sturdier. I'll keep that in mind by binding a book next time. Thanks very much. The fabric is beautiful.
I recommend that everyone follows your instructions very carefully because I found out the hard way that if you glue the connecting papers incorrectly then the book will not fully open. That may be why you only put a thin line of glue on the inside of the paper that is glued to the inside of the cover (between that page and the book block ( the pages.) I will try again! I was able to fix it but it wasn’t as good as if I had done it correctly the first time. Thank you!
Great revival of old bookbinding technique. The middle school I attended had a print shop from the late 1920s. In the 1980s they still offered a print shop class that taught basic binding, use of old letter and newspaper presses. It was the beginning of my love for paper. Thanks for the reminder.
❤ Love your videos!!! New subscribers here! Thank you for not having noisy music background like other RUclipsrs do, so I can concentrate on all your instruments and able to follow you in the process in peace of mind! Just your soothing voice is enough!! Blessings…
You are quite a find! I love your calm and gentle way. You're succinctness and lovely voice made this a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I've just had an additional thought. This sort of binding gives your "art" work room to breathe.
Awesome. I had lots of sampel books that were gifted to me back in 2000. I worked so hard getting the glued papers on each piece. I got them wet and then scraped the paper and glue off of them wiith a butter knife. It was not easy. Now seeing your steamiron method, I'm astounded at how easy that is. Thank you so much for showing this. method. Wish I'd seen this last week as I cut the glued paper off when making bags for my rice heating pads. Lol I liked this so much that I saved it to my faviorites !! I need to repair one of my journals that's signatures aren't sewed yet. It got damaged during my last nove and needs a complete new spine. I may do it like this one.
When I learned book craft, I learned a corner fold that did not trim the corner. You simply bend the paper/cloth over the corner at a right angle - top, bottom then sides. I like the look of that corner much better and its so much easier than fussing with that tiny bit at the corner. I never see others use it though
I usually do the corner fold without the trim when I use thinner materials or paper. Thick upholstery fabrics that I like to use sometimes create a lot of bulk so I prefer to cut it off. You’re right, no trim corners are much easier to do and they look neat. Do you also round them before folding fabric over?
I have just made this journal. I even eco dyed fabric for the cover. Oh Wow. I love it. I have watched this tutorial many times before commencing mine, and changed some parts to suit what I wanted. The end result is fantastic, a beautiful A4 journal that looks incredible.
What a beautifully put together tutorial. I really appreciate how you made sure to include all of the steps for folks who might be new to the channel, but also edit out the repetitive parts so it doesn't take forever to watch. Very well done, and thank you! New subscriber here!
