Your vlog is inspiring to me, I live in Canada and left Terceira island when I was 9 years old, I do have land there about the same distance to the sea as yours ( views are very similar ) house was destroyed in the 1980 earthquake. Now I’m getting interested in rebuilding the house after seeing your videos, I’ll keep watching and will visit Pico once you have villa up and running.. good work guys.

Hello Carlos & Laura, I've been following you on your journey on Pico!! My husband and I are retired now and want to buy a house on Pico too! Our trip to the Azores was cancelled April 2020. We're still waiting to travel there. We've been researching the island for awhile now. We visited Terceira Island first in 2019 and fell in love with the Azores. Love your new home!

Thanks for doing the videos. Pico has not been done by Google Streetview as yet. Your videos have given me a good look at Pico in particular. When you go to Lisbon or Porto, the 'mainlanders' definitely see the Azores as a region on to itself.
My grandfather's parents both came from Pico like many people in Massachusetts. The DNA test results showed 25% Spanish & Portuguese as expected, but did zero in on the Azores as well.
Obviously the weather is better, but the islands do remind me of the West of Ireland somewhat.

What a beautiful location! That view!!! Is it close to a town? How far is it to walk or drive to services? Are you imagining it as a long-stay vacation (rental) house. We live in Victoria and so our search for a house is also a MUST have sea view. ❤️❤️

I live in the states . How does the remodeling process go there and is it common , is it affordable and timely... Me and my husband are planing to visit the Islands once this pandemic is over. That is amazing and quite exciting Angel! We have been noticing that more and more people are doing or planning on doing the same as us. As for mentoring; all we can do at this time is to share our experience as we go. We will be posting some videos that will discuss more in depth important things as: Tourism in general, Tourism in the Portugal and Azores, Tourism markets, Living & doing business in the Islands, working remotely etc. I have been in Tourism for 30+ years, so sharing through the videos some of my overall knowledge of the Industry might help you as well. Hi Phil! Summer average between 21 to 28. Winter average 14 to 18. Once in awhile a few winter days can get close to 12; rare to get under. It does get damp at times. A few storms come through; high winds and waves, rain etc At the moment it's 17. Take care!

My wife and I are also planning to invest in a few small properties to restore in both Portugal and Spain and that info would be very helpful as a point of reference. That was a shocker I thought I heard Azores re was expensive. A small house on Long Island close to half a million with 11k+ taxes

Can you please advise the process of opening a bank account without being there.
I guess anything is possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. The safest way to buy a house is in person. Some banks might be able to do a mortgage online, just don't Know of any. Take care Maria!

Hi Azores Island girl! We never bought a bedroom set, just a mattress and a bed frame. It was very good quality, we paid around 400 euros in total. The place is called Sousa Ferreira, located between Madalena and Sao Mateus. I hope that helps! Cheers!

Why Pico, são Miguel is it better
Great question Alfredo. All of the 9 island are beautiful and amazing; with each having something different to offer. It all comes down to you; what are the things you must have. So if someone had to be on an island that not only had the nature, but also had extra things like night life, big shopping malls, more restaurants, Mcdonald's, adult entertainment etc; than Sao Miguel would be the only island to choose. It also has half of the Azores total population(125,000). I need to be on an island that does not have so many of these extra things. I would say that any of the other islands would fit that bill; in fact 7 of the 9 islands each have only population of 15,000 or less. Pico island is also my birthplace; obviously have the most connection. I also have to add that islands like Pico have less saturation compare to Sao Miguel; this is important if you want to start a business. I can go on; but I will stop here. I'm pretty sure you get the picture. Take good care!
@@ourjourneyonpicoisland-car552 the reason that I asked the question is exactly the answer that you give me I myself was born in São Miguel in Vila Franca do Campo, it's true that São Miguel has more of everything i have not been to Pico yet but well one day I have a cousin how lives there and works as teacher, we try to visit the island every 2 years only miss 3 Islands to visit Flores,Pico and gracoisa one day, I presently live in Montreal Canada our trip to São Miguel for 2020 was pushed to this year let's see if can go this year because of covid love the Azores hope to move there as yourself one day. Have you been affected by yesterdays earthquake?
Hi Guelsen! No we were not affected; didn't even know until I noticed some posts. It was felt more in Faial and in the north side of Pico. I actually experienced an earthquake here on Pico. It happened on Nov 1 of 1974; just before we left to Canada. I still remembered it as if it happened yesterday! Take care!
