Algarve Addicts ... this is great! Thanks you! My sister and family live near Castro Marim, they moved from the U.K. over 21 years ago now and love It, they have land too so grow most of their fruit and veg. Dad bought a small place in Monte Gordo for his holidays as he loves the beach and sun, but I mush prefer Vila for its atmosphere, architecture and somehow more traditional vibe.

Thank you for the very informative and interesting video. I fell in love with Portugal a few years ago on a trip to Portugal and Spain. We flew into Lisbon and after a few days rented a car for a drive to Evora. After a two night stay we drove to Lagos where we had a wonderful stay exploring the beautiful coast. I got hooked on Portuguese Wine and the food we had in all areas was some of the best we have eaten in all of our European trips. I often thought The Algarve would be an amazing place for retirement.

"A well not so bagagem crowd in Albufeira" and you're right sir. Although I love the whole of the Algarve I ended up getting a place in Cabanas de Tavira, where actually I spent some youth years with my grandparents. He had a place there and was, before the 25th of April revolution, the commander of the Guarda Fiscal, a branch later incorporated in GNR. Those were some sweet times, as I'm sure you also had back in the day in Cape Town. I have a friend that speaks very fondly of Her early years in that place so I may understand it a bit. Pretty much like your videos by the way. Cheers!

Hi Nick, this was the most useful video about Algarve I have seen so far. II heave plans to buy an apartment in Algarve once this virus situation is over. I'm an American citizen and as you know Portugal borders rare closed for American tourists . I'll get in touch when I'm ready to go. Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us all absolutely it the little cities in the Algarve.

Been following your channel for some time, but after this video I had to subscribe. Great content! We're planning to move to the Algarve in 1 or 2 years from America and wonder if you could list 2 or 3 places off of this list that offer the best setting for physical activity, such as walking, beach swimming and sailing, as we plan to focus solely on health from day one. Preferably with good secondary school for our kid. We speak Portuguese, therefore local or expat community are both welcome. I have my eyes on Lagos and am planning a trip this summer, but can check any other suggested spots. In our 50's, we would likely avoid party towns and touristic hotspots (if at all possible in Algarve). Thanks!

Thanks a lot for this video. I have been visiting most places you'd mention and i shall be back after this COVID thing. The Algarve is a lovely place on earth (and i have seen many) and i like the people and the food. It all starts with those dangerous sweets in the morning and it never stops. My fav place is by far Lagos (and Sagres), i've been everywhere in Algarve (I'm from north portugal, so it's easy to go there). By far you get the best surfing hippie vibes there, no big discos just cool clubs/bars with crazy parties, best landscape, more village and lest town vibes, the feeling is pretty good there, it's different in a good way. Also very historical, the old town Lagos is inside castle walls

Hi Nick. amazing and wonderful idea to share our region to the world.
I would like to ask you something that sometimes goes around my mind like I want to know the portuguese people reviews ;).
The Portuguese people are, probably like others, easy to deal with. Even when they don't speak your language you will take what you are looking for.
In my point of view and I think with the people I know is the same, doesn't matter if you are white, black, red, blue, tall or small. What matters is if we can trust each other and have a good time chatting, drinking and eating (everything can be solved at the restaurant table).
    So, my question is:
Algarve is a dream place to be living in but, what about the people? What you think about the people what can you expect from them, the food, the weather? Please give me a honest answer ! Keep this fantastic work. Algarve is known because of people like you, Passionate!
    "Stay well" ;)

Thanks for your comment Bruno. I guess the proof is in the pudding! I married a wonderful Portuguese girl and have a 100% Portuguese daughter and tons of fun and helpful Portuguese friends. The short answer is the locals are great here! It might be an interesting but difficult topic to address on a video.

@@AlgarveAddicts Thank you for the tips. I write them down and look them up on RUclips. I have Osteoporose. My vitamine D-Suppliments do not work any more. Natural sun could help. I have medical reasons, why i should leave the cold Netherlands. I look since days for a place, where i could live with such a small pension. My first choice is Ethiopia, but the rules for leaving the EU are even more difficult, then moving to Portugal. Getting old is not easy. It should be nice, but in reality, pension is not helpful to me. I starve most of the time of the month, just to pay my monthly bills. It,s so unfair, the world upside-down, ALL my pension-money goes to my bills, and i am left with nothing to feed myself. I guess, i am not the only one, that is in such a situation. I hope, Portugal becomes a real possibility of a better life, more sun, more food! GREETINGS from Holland!

Im a portuguese expat living in Europe and I've just come across your vids a few days ago. I have to say this is probably the most comprehensive, authentic, interesting, fun to watch yet rigorous video I've seen about the Algarve. You've made me start thiking about relocating back to Portugal, who knows, even to the Algarve - who knows - although being originaly from Porto i enjoy a bit of cold, rainy days and mountains nearby (not that we have many in Portugal that you can call true mountains). You're probably the best advocate for Algarve tourism and economy right now. Loved the SA accent, btw. Take care. Looking fwd to check out some of your other vids. 👍😉
