    Perhaps people’s “bile” filled comments are an expression of how much people like the bike, the brand and how they would treat it in the unlikely event that any of us owned one.
    It would of course been possible to say how you acquired the bike in the first minute of the first video.........
    That airbox and rear seat fairing......beautiful.
    Nice tip about the ignition as well.

    As a Desmo owner this is an intriguing vlog, could have a little more content imo, 10k fairings? yes originals are, but the quick view removing the side panel, appears its a replica panel 'fibreglass' as is the nose cone from the first vid, your getting replacement parts straight from the factory, is there much available?? bolts maybe, but parts like panels, lights etc

    • @ducbox572
      @ducbox572 6 лет назад +1

      Agreed, it appears all the bodywork is fiberglass replicas. I'd like to see where cheap OE parts are available on eBay. They are perhaps cheaper than dealer prices but will still total at least $5k all up. That said, fiberglass is perfectly acceptable for a "rider" not a museum piece.

    • @Thunderbirds-models
      @Thunderbirds-models 6 лет назад

      @@ducbox572 Totally agree, i have had replica fairings on mine since 2010, no headlights on it either, they will be expensive, i have a spare set, i wonder if i could do a deal with the boys 😉

    • @razor1uk610
      @razor1uk610 4 года назад

      I'd bet many of them could well be standard sizes produced for Ducati's entire range, ..if they clean up well without corrosive/active deep rust, polishing them and lacquering them would be cheaper than replating - with replating, you might as well order full on replacements - albeit ones not made from Italian/mild steel, but of stainless, or titanium.

  • @mikestewart7322
    @mikestewart7322 6 лет назад

    Yes easy to judge and I shouldn’t have judged. First thing that comes into your mind is that some rich dude has just left this in the garage. Why did I /we do that? It’s sensible to assume the reality of the situation, the poor guy died and his estate has to sort out the legalities of ownership.
    More about the bike, are those casings aluminium or magnesium? That furry deposit round the casing bolts, is that due to some electrolytic action taken place whilst the bike has been stood?
    It’s quite shocking how much and how little damage happens when a bike just stands for a long time. Would the damage have been reduced if the bike had been stood in a heated or constant temperature room/garage.

    Sadly,the Desmosedeici has turned into just an expensive collector bike. I’ve never ridden one but have been told that it’s a horrendously hot bike to ride on the street. The radiators put off a tremendous amount of heat and will toast your nuts in no time. A beautiful piece of two wheeled engineering that has been superseded by the new V-4 Panagale at a considerably lower price.

      I'd at least do either a compression test and or a leakdown test as a bare minimum on the engine mechanics. Seeing as how it's sat in a potentially damp environment for so long the bores could suffer from some corrosion damage. Even after an oil soak it, could pick the rings and score.
