I’m a 58 year old man and waiting for some operations on my hands this year hopefully, so next spring I will be 59 , I haven’t ridden a road bike since 1985 when I bought a Kawasaki gpz 600r , but I have always said I want a Ducati before I die and I want a panigale 1299 s a 2017 model , am I being stupid in hoping to get one after such a long time off , I will only be plodding along and admiring it lol

@@andrewg4412 Fuck no, that would be sacrilege. That engine is as close as we're ever gonna get to a motogp engine (fucking 86mm bore) and it just makes the bike
The day I passed my car driving test, I had to go back into university in the afternoon on my SV650. As I came near kingston, near the nikon building, a man on a desmo pulled out and joined the traffic in front of me. I made a point to stick with him as long as I could. That bike sounded incredible at idle, at low rm, at high rpm, at every rpm, on every amount of throttle. And it looked so good, so special.
Fantastic Video. I've been waiting for your release on this bike for ages, hoping you boys would. I for some reason have fallen in love with this FE. I own a 959 now and track it, have a fantastic time with it. Then I saw this bike be released . Tomorrow my dealership is taking delivery of this bike. I have a down payment on it and approved for the remainder. I look at it like the last of the big block cars in the 60s here in America. You touched upon a great point with this bike. It's meant to make you feel alive and out of all of the Panigale bikes this is the most mental, and that right there equals the fun factor. That is also why I am taking it. I'm 38 will never be the track champ, not care to be . I do track days now to have fun, enjoy my machines and walk away with as many smiles on my face as I can.
*We rich people proudly display our ability to buy our way out of trouble when we endanger others FTFY You'd bin it on roads like these, too many turns for a "Yank" like you.
I was present at the launch of the FE in California this summer and fell in love with that bike. I ordered one the next business day and took delivery about a month ago. It replaces a 1299S, and I agree that the steering geometry feels different (faster turn-in). Also, the transmission is smoother out of the box, with no break-in. It is true that it beats you up, riding on choppy road surfaces, but that has a lot to do with the suspension settings as delivered. The bike comes set up for the track (based on the chart in the owner's manual) rather than for the street. I'm leaving mine as-is for now, but will probably soften the settings somewhat in the future. This is the first 1299 Panigale to come to the US with the Euro 4 exhaust and, you are right: It is noticeably quieter than the "regular" 1299S. However, Ducati is making a limited run of race exhaust systems (and presumably a firmware adjustment to go with it), which should suffice to tick off any neighbors who still tolerate me at this point. That Desmo looks and sounds fantastic, and I am sure the new V4 will be great, but I'm enjoying my FE, even if it does cause bruises!
Nothing unusual. I like the Ducati Performance Race Seat better because the surface material eliminates the problem of sliding forward under engine braking or regular braking. As always, I am very careful to follow the break-in advice (and the electronic tach display helps: It is orange beginning at 6,000 rpm until the service light comes on, around 621 miles.) If you think you may want the race exhaust--even if not right away--ask your dealer to look into ordering it, because my understanding is that there will only be one small production run of those. Have fun!
Just over a week I've barely been able to move things because I broke both of my wrists in a bike on car accident and have above elbow casts so it's a good thing I love re-watching every Baron and 44t video plus over a week till the cast come off so there aren't enough of them sadly.
I hope you recovered now! Also i am curious as to who "serviced" you.. did you errr.. have a wife/gf or did mum help (obviously not the sexual part... unless you like incest 🤪😳) But yea goodluck to all!
guys ,this talk was amazing. some peacefully you guys sat back to talk about to of my all time dream bike. Never stop this format of review. Enjoying the conversation!
I rode the Supersport and it was comfy. Great Ohlins. Perfect HP for the street. The fact of the matter is, on the street you want to be comfortable enough to ride for a while. Many full on race bikes just say, "Get off right now!"
Let the flogging begin. My first time seeing a Desmo..Im in love...great point about riding a bike that makes all your senses come alive. I bought my Aprilia based on that logic and have loved every twist of the throttle..here is to Italian Motorcycles and those crazy bastards that build such pieces of performance art..Bellisimo!
I'm SO happy you guys finally did a review on the FE. I ordered mine last July, took ownership in October (bike number 140) and absolutely love it. The bike is surprisingly comfortable and rather quiet until the power band kicks in. Keep up the great reviews and always look forward to watching your video's. Cheers
This is possibly one of the greatest comparisons I’ve ever seen. It’s so hard to find anything more than a grainy, crappy video of the D16RR Edit: never mind... they barely did anything on it. I appreciate what footage we got I guess
The Desmosedici is still achingly gorgeous after 10 years, I was at the NEC and there were a couple there on stands, If I had a spare £35K I'd have one tomorrow - looks & sounds miles better than the FE !
Just bought a 2015 Ducati Panigale R. I have to say it's quite calm compared to my 2004 zx10r. That thing was nuts. Power wheelie everywhere and no electronics at all. This seems tame in comparison.
Speaking of chasing lap times, you’re right about ruining your weekend. I had that happen many times. But I figured out how to get around that. Just don’t care. Some reason when I did that I felt more relaxed and was more consistent. Then dropped a full second out of nowhere from my previous best lap time
Fantastic desmo rr, and years before the Honda rcv, which was touted as the closest you can get to a moto gp bike, Ducati were 10yrs ahead of Honda and a fraction of the cost.....
If you told me I could have any motorcycle ever made, it would be the Desmo. More advanced motorcycles be damned, that bike is what motorcycling is all about.
You two guys always have great videos! So often you show off bikes that many of us can only dream to see let alone ride. Your reviews are raw but classy at the same time. Keep it up and thanks!
Saw one of these FE’s today at a dealer, very pretty. I completely agree ref panigale’s as well, I’m on my second, and I love them. I am quicker on a IL4 but they don’t have the same ‘occasion’ about them. That’s not to say the panigales aren’t quick, they are but you need to be Chaz D to exploit it
Nice vid fellas. Nice contrast too with your budget bike battle vids. All these vids are making me connect with what I'm really after when I ride my bike. It also strikes me with what a snob I may prove with my '06 Kawi 650......... Hm. Best of both worlds I guess.
i had one. be weary of numbers below 800 or so . or make sure they have had the springs fixed . and they are no longer making most of the parts for it . make sure its in amazing shape and low mile. but one that gets ridden every once and a while . one sitting for years is a no bueno . and get an aftermarket regulator installed . mine left me on the side of the road twice . its a mean machine though . enjoy
MM indeed Panigale is a flop when it comes to racing and I do not like the looks of it but I simply adore its sit position, ie the short reach to the clippons and the high but super narrow seat/saddle. That is very modern, just like a D675. The old superbikes especially pre Panigale ducatis and even some new ones like the R1, S1000RR you really need to reach out with your arms over the fuel tank to the handlebar/clippons but on D675 and Panigale you sit right on the front wheel, I love it and they both are very comfy regardless of their sportiness on the street because of that. Lets hope the new V4 Panigale is as good as Panigale when it comes to sit position, the new frame looks more like the one from the Monster but in alu/magnesium instead of a trellis one but maybe it will turn out to be a better bike on the track than Panigale ever was.
WOW!!! absolutely amazing video guys! keep it up! deff the best MC channel out there. Posting this knowing I might get skinned hahahaha but when it comes to V4 exhaust note, the Aprilia line is king, I do not like the Ducati sound may be it is the exhaust but then they tried to bash the R!M sound and that sound is the most beautiful I4 sound in existence, those cross planes are the most beautiful sounding engines that aren't in a V configuration.
That Desmo must be worth a fortune now, it's got to be still the best Ducati ever made do you think it will ever fetch 100k? I think it looks worth it.
I would take my 1976 Triumph T140V Bonneville 750 over these in a single lane back road cafe race any day. She has never lost! True I eventually removed the heavy canisters that were about 20 lbs each, the stock bars for drag bars and the seat cushion so I could sit lower in the frame. Lastly I removed the turn signals. No other mods. Same Dunlap K70H tyres no engine mods. She raced and defeated every street motorike all the way into 1992 when she faced the kawasaki Ninja GPz1100 that was speed governed to 179 mph and the Honda V4 Interceptor 1000. Both fell to superior handling. I think my Triumph has around 46-52 H.P and was 395 lgs from the factory with it's 4020 chrome molly frame. After removal of 40 lbs of canisters she was around 365 lbs. Light weight and excellent handling is the key to victory not horsepower. These new Ducati's are what-435lbs! I still have my Bonneville and she is about 20 feet from me as I type this. You, and these new machines will soon part ways because you will want the next new thing. If any MFR made a 300 lb 95 H.P motorcycle then I say that would be a good bike. Until such a time my 1976 T140V rules the back roads. To be candid, I'm 67 years old now and have nothing to prove, me and my Triumph never lost and we raced anyone who would try to put a wheel ahead of her. We never cheated or cut anyone off or took their line, my rules were if an opponent could beat us I had to allow it. That is the true nature of sportsmanship.

Nope. 2005 Vespa ET4 mainly. Bit wobbly, rarely warm, and the bloody speedo is still broken.
smokeybarr, agreed. I worked at a Duc shop for a bit and this was the first thing i noticed about these bikes.

The Desmosedici RR all day bro, my favorite bike! Can't wait till I get mine. And never big on the tri-colors at all. The RR price was $75,000+

Final edition r v2 with the full system sounds epic. Not many of them about however. Was a £5k upgrade at the time.
nice to see ya riding on my local roads! shame you have to deal with the terrible road surface which must be horrible on these beasts!
You accidentally stuck the 44 sticker over the speedo ;-) Brilliant video as always lads!

Great video! Cheers from Portugal.
Clever sticker placement, that.
Which one is better? Panigale V4 or Desmosedici?
Never mind all these new bikes! I want to see the SRAD and the ZX7R!!!! and where are my stickers!!! :)
OMG Awesome performance !! Love the bike now! Your review is so great!
is front mask on desmosedici difrent color?
