  • Acclaimed guitarist Bob Minner stops by the Fretboard Journal to perform "Cross-Eyed Cat" from his forthcoming 2024 album. On the final album, this song will be a duet with mandolinist Thomas Cassell.
For this session, Bob brought out something we hadn't seen before: A D1A Traditional "Builder's Choice" guitar from Collings. The guitar, a collaboration between Bob and the Collings crew, sports mahogany back and sides, an Adirondack spruce top, a maple bridge plate dating back to the 1870s...and some subtle tweaks.
“The Collings D1A Traditional Builder’s Choice I am playing in the video isn’t even a prototype, per se," Bob explained. "It’s more of a 'Let’s see what happens' guitar.'"

Great tune and great playing as always. Other versions of this tune? I only find Muddy Waters playing a tune by the same name.
