Fabulously sensitive playing and a great chord melody arrangement of an iconic standard tune. I love this guitar. It’s really comfortable to play, sounds great and it’s super lightweight. Probably the best Jazz guitar I’ve ever owned, but it’s also super versatile.
Woke up- sleepless- around 2:15AM and came upon this. Drained the junk outta my mind and put me back right listening. I’m gonna check out this guitar and I vow to try to play it like you to bring a little peace back in. Really nice and great sensibility here.
Yeah….I would look forward to a Collings model TL! And a TL +JL duet album collaboration…with such talent there is something to smile about in the midst of our current global cacophony!
Hello , nice review , was waiting for it ! You ve talk about this ellisonic for long time, hope to hear one on your tele ! Great blues stuff at the end, i ll try to work on it
with strong willingness buying this guitar and without any chance to play on it before, I'm trying to watch every clip with this. Tim is great guitarplayer and presented some new colors of this guitar. I've mentioned that both Julian and Tim played on this guitar very accurate. It looks like this guitar (or just this original pickups) reproduce all nuances of your playing and maybe (too) picky on every note that described in terms of "clarity" and "articulation". Is this sound on the other side of smokey and dark sound or just could be changed via tone and volume pots?
It's the Wizard, not the Wand. Tim would sound that good on a cigar box with strings. Of course a great instrument is inspirational, but an intermediate player all of a sudden wouldn't sound like that. Tim always sounds like Tim, as we all sound like ourselves. Great work, as always, Tim.
@@mattrogers1946 Put a MIM Tele or a Squier Classic Vibe in his hands and see how little difference it makes. I'm an instrument snob myself, but I've at times had to play a "less than" instrument. Wasn't as fun for me, but the audience was just fine with it, and I could still make music.
...absolutely beautiful playing. That said, I'd pass. Julian didn't touch it back in Dec 22 in Charlottesville, VA. His wife played one or two songs with it before he came out, if I remember correctly. She was also wearing a Meshuggah t-shirt. Very cool couple! I'd prefer a Creston tele style...
I have a Novo Serus J and I'm growing tired of the traditional p90s. I needs bit more sparkle. I should have my head examined but Ron Ellis makes these pickups in a p90 form factor. Would you recommend these or should I save a ton of money and try maybe a Lollar rod magnet p90 instead?
@@Junterhack I'm wondering the same thing...I will likely go with either a Firebird pickup, which I love, or a alnico rod p90. I just can't see spending $700 on PICKUPS for crying out loud
@@mooseymoose I ordered a set of used TV Jones T-Armond pickups, which are basically the same thing - a Dynasonic in a p90 housing. I'll be installing them this week.
Ahhh dynasonics. Wonderful, punchy and if you have a light touch, you get th erewards. But man... they are unforgiving pups. They amplify EVERY bad bit of playing if your technique suffers.
@@plunkymonkey Yup, it’s obviously a Gretsch erm… influenced design. He’s not a big enough name for Gretsch but I suspect they won’t be too happy to see this guitar on the market. Just my thoughts. I might be wrong.

I'm on a train traveling north along the western coast of Italy. It's raining hard, and I'm listening to this beautiful music. Thank you.
Love everything about this video. You make that guitar sing. Collings! Send the man his own!
Just finished a long day at work. Now I am sitting here just listening to you play. This gives me so much. Thank you, Tim!
Beautiful rendition of 'You Don't Know Me' on a marvelous guitar!
Tim you are such a joy to watch and listen to!! God bless you my friend!!!!!
That guitar sounds so beautiful it makes me wanna cry … specially after seeing the price 😭😭😭

What a beauty. The guitar sounds so old - in the very best possible way. And as always great playing!
Thank you Tim for playing it very well
Wow! That guitar sounds amazing! So clear and articulate. Great playing as always.
Ahhhh... The magic of an unbelievable player on a guitar that equals his caliber! Stunning!
Tim just made a great day even better......brilliant showcase! Thank you!!
Lovely stuff.. a duo between yourself and Julian would be heaven on earth! ❤
That guitar put a twinkle in your eyes when you were playing it Tim....it's a wonderfully voiced instrument. Great playing as usual!
Stunning, lovely to hear you on one of these Tim. Cool tune too!
Beautiful sound. Thanks for sharing

Pure musical joy! Thank you Tim!
it is a fabulous guitar & it is Tim being showcased & played so well by you !
Beautifully played, in the hands of a true master. Thanks for the excellent demonstration!
That sounds amazing, Tim!
As soon as you hit those first few notes, jeez. Lovely sounding thing!
beautiful

sweet sounding guitar and of course your playing is so great. thanks for sharing Tim.
Just damn gorgeous Tim. Thank you! Lovely instrument responding beautifully to hands that know so well.
Beautiful as a lovey dream.
Thank you Tim.
Beautiful guitar and wonderful playing. I would try the Ellissonic pickup in a hollowbody or tele. It could be worth it.
It has it's own unique voice ! Quite Lovely.
I've been wanting to hear someone other than Mr. Lage play this. Thanks for the great demo, you make it sing!
I could listen you all day. You tell the greatest stories on guitar 😊😊
a. beautiful guitar played by a great guitarist , you and this guitar sound so good , hello from france
Lovely! Just lovely!

Awesome sounding guitar, and playing, Tim! Is there a chart available for “You don’t know me”?
This is like a tele but more info in the notes. Has a slight bloom around it. Very enjoyable.
Beautiful Tim
Super cool! and beautiful playing as always, thanks for bringing the sound of this awesome guitar to us.
Be great if Tim did a video playing a Gretsch Duo Jet with Dynasonics. Sound similar to the Lage?
Guitar sounds wonderful in your hands fella! 🔥🔥🔥
Magical playing and an incredible-sounding guitar. Thanks for sharing!
Wow! I’ve been wanting to try one of those since they came out. Beautiful!!
£7299.99 i don't care I'll sell a kidney! Beautiful instrument! Tim and Julian have sold this to me, I'm in love❤ that blues was awesome Tim!
I saw a couple of these come out in lefty, and they got bought immediately. Classy guitar and some lucky folks who got them.
Beautiful guitar, beautiful playing.
Beautiful
Thank you for the music!
Just Brilliant!
Great sound! I love it!
beautiful playing...what a commercial for that guitar!!...I want one...put it on the credit card
Great demo and playing of this guitar. My reaction was Wow! Then I looked to see what these critters cost, and my reaction was Wow!
Thanks for sharing.
Terrific all round
Wonderful playing! thanx🙏
I don't think your student is getting that guitar back. Very sweet sound and wonderful playing.
9000 euros - I might be a good enough guitarist by the time I've saved the money.
Hahaha, brilliant! 😂
Man... you sound exactly like Tim Lerch on that guitar!
Such beauty in the hands of a master. One queries what it might sound like in the hands of mere mortals?
marvelous!!!
Sublime playing and always Tim but I still prefer the tone of the Tele. Many thanks for sharing.
👌 thanks for sharing

Collings make some of the finest instruments
Sounds beautiful Tim. Is this through a princeton, or is there another amp you favour these days?
Yep, Princeton
Lovely sound. Perfect really. I only knew the Ray Charles version of the song, I’ll check out Cindy Walker’s.
Rays version is the high water mark, Cindy wrote it not sure she ever recorded it. Eddie Arnold had the original hit.
Thank you for this amazing video.Could you tell me what amp you are using there?
Princeton reverb

Everyone on the internet uses that cliche, but you never actually see it. Having a quality instrument makes a difference.

@@tyroneshuz Sure, Tim can make a cheapo instrument sound good. But he could make a great guitar sound glorious.
Great video! Have you had a chance to compare it with a Gretsch DuoJet?
Unfortunately not, this was a very brief encounter.
Nice 👍
Tim Lerch is the Ted Greene of Tim Lerches
Always noticed how the notes seem to bloom more on this guitar
Great sounding guitar and amazing player. What amp did you used on this video ?
Princeton reverb
Notes just pop out in the lead. Beautiful sounding. At that price point, it had better be
Wow ! Shally
Just wonder how they compare side to side with a Gretsch '53 jet VS
Was just looking at these yesterday. Now I'm not sure if I want another tele, a Tim Bram tribute arch top, or one of these.

Julian Lage has one in the P90 cover in his regular Nachocaster T. I picked a 470JL used in the UK and the pickups are *absolutely stellar*.
Do it.
@@mooseymoose I ordered a set of used TV Jones T-Armond pickups, which are basically the same thing - a Dynasonic in a p90 housing. I'll be installing them this week.
Cool guitar. I can buy one used for only €9936. Have to sell one of my kids first, though. Nah, I have a Collings 290, more than good enough for me.
24 7/8" scale it says. I believe that you, of all people, should own one o' those.
Wow, those pickups are super sensitive.
But JL almost never plays this guitar LIVE! ??? Because it sound quite WOW!
?? So, how come??
You’ll have to ask Julian.
@@TimLerchGuitar You're right, that's TRUE!
He seems to love the Tele
@@chadromney A Spanish one by the way ;-) !!
Scale is 24 7/8 btw
Is it fully hollow? Sounds like it.
It s chambered i guess, like duojets
Please someone tell me how that special effect is achieved at 9:11. Is it drumming against the fret with the side of pick?
Yep that’s it. Hold down a dom 9 chord and bounce the pick two frets above the chord.
Thanks Tim! Killing it as always!
Can anyone help me out with the voicing at 3:09?
That passage is F(#11) E7/D A7 D7/C
It has a hollow body sound👍
It's a semi hollow. Good ears.
Sounds like a good Tele, than I would take the Tele!🙂
And save a lot of $🙂
Very like, how you play that tune.I going to learn it))
you sound great, it's a Collings so of course it's an amazing guitar, but it takes a real player to make it sound that good
Glad I don't have an extra $10K lying around. Such a sweet axe!😍👌
10 K ? They're more in the 7s in the U.S. Yes,.... a sweet axe @darklylit a family heirloom that can be enjoyed for many many years.
Wonderful guitar, but the price tag looks more like a down payment on a house.
It's Super Gretsch!
Ahhh dynasonics. Wonderful, punchy and if you have a light touch, you get th erewards. But man... they are unforgiving pups. They amplify EVERY bad bit of playing if your technique suffers.
Not sure what Gretsch think about this!
It’s based on a DuoJet. I’m sure Gretsch wishes that they had talked to Julian first…
