For a long time Mario fan whose favorite games are Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros 3 this game feels like a dream come true. To me it feels like a blend of Yoshi’s Island (for how the game looks different and the new enemies) and 3D World (for how it appears to be more open and each level seems to be unique). I'm so happy about this game. Different Kingdom, a million new creatures and enemies, new powerups. It's not just a bunch of desert, snow, lava, etc etc levels. All that plus the surrealism I love from the series. I can't wait to play it.
I saw someone explain the way Online Co-op seems to work in this game as "it's basically an MMO", and honestly... it feels quite accurate, everyone is in their own little instance of the level, but you can still see and interact with each other... and honestly, I get the feeling that this might be the only way how Co-op across multiple systems might even work in the first place for Wonder, maybe specifically due to how Wonder Flowers affect the courses, having other players be on other screens when that happens would mess with stuff (pretty sure we see that a bunch in Mario Maker-levels as well), but at the same time, they might not want to just teleport everyone to the Wonder Flower when the effect activates like how they force other players to follow someone into pipes. Also, it might be a precaution in case of lag, that could ruin the game for some people with the timing against enemies, if every player is in their own instance, that won't matter, while still having that pseudo-co-op through the player shadows. Generally though, Wonders feels like a wonderfully fresh take on the Mario-formula, and definitely like it's trying to reinvent the formula a bit, I can just smell how the badges came to be while they were brainstorming for new movement-options to add to Marios standard skill-set in a way similar to how wall-jumping and grounpounds were in New iirc, or the spin-jump in World.
I've seen people like The Completionist and CNN say the game has real direct co op in friend rooms online that doesn't involve shadows so I don't know what to believe at the moment. It would be in character for Nintendo too because they didn't even mention that 3D World+ had online multiplayer added until the literal last minute iirc CNN's comment is: "But while these experiences were often limited to your own living room in previous Mario side-scrollers, Wonder finally lets you romp around with folks all over the world via online play. You can play through the entirety of Mario’s new adventure with faraway friends, and based on my demo, the whole process seems pretty easy to set up. You can take up to one local buddy with you to your online adventure, which is ideal for playing with a combo of friends both at home and afar. But Wonder’s online capabilities go beyond basic co-op; you also have the option of seeing other players’ “shadows” as you traverse a level, which lets you keep tabs on how other plumbers and princesses are tackling the same course in real time" Jirard/The Completionist said basically the same thing regarding the online and that there's either 2 people per console or one per console online and talked about the shadows and the friend shadow races like an entirely different thing
@@JacobNintendoNerd99I don’t see them making up that kind of thing (especially the completionist) so maybe we really do have regular co-op and they just didn’t cover it?
@@captainpep3 I wouldn't accuse them of making it up but it's always phrased weirdly when brought up. But the same thing was going on with 3D world+ before it released too with this
I do agree that the characters all playing the same is disappointing but in this game is displaying a lot of creativity so far in art style, level design and variety.
@@chiquita683Bro like it matters, the badges are here to change how the game works and we don’t need different characters to play different think more of them like skins.
That and the fact you can collect standees. Makes this game so much more awesome. So happy this game has personality and things to complete. Can’t wait for it
This game makes me really excited for the next Mario maker. I cannot wait to see what cool ideas people come up with due to these new enemies and mechanics. Especially the badges. I could see some really cool vertical level design with that grapple badge. Gets my own imagination going.
I’m so happy they managed to “fix” Yoshi’s appearance! He looks more like a dinosaur, and less of a weird green humanoid. It’s closer to his original design for Super Mario World and I think it suits him perfectly.
I've come around to how Yoshi is being utilized. The knockback helps big timing and no powerups or badges with him, playing as Yoshi is going to feel very different and may be difficult in it's own way. Perfect for a second playthrough later on. This looks AMAZING, exactly what 2D Mario has needed.
I'm even more excited to see Mario Wonder come to Mario Maker 3. With all the new and old enemies, new power-ups, and how would they even incorporate the wonder flower? I hope this happens. These would be very fun tools to build levels with.
The theme they’re going for, my guess, is Mario in Wonderland. That’s why the King is a Caterpillar and weird stuff happens when you touch a flower, Bubbles and Pink Elephants. Definitely a weird theme for them to do but will make a fun game.
Guys if you go to 3:51 and look at the top where it says “w1 pipe rock plateau” you can see that there are 8 dots, meaning that there are actually 8 worlds. The 8th might be the secret world or it may be something like 3d world where there’s a fake ending
@@zkproductions4351no actually if you go to the exact time frame where I said in my comment you can see that there are a bunch of dots on the world map screen and the first part has dots too meaning they are part of world 1
Personally I think the only reason they let Yoshi be playable at all is to even out the easy mode options considering they couldn't reasonably take HIS abilities from him like everyone else and since it looks like characters can't be repeated they wanted to give more than one person access to easy mode And besides in the majority of 2D platformers Yoshi is invincible even in his own franchise
tbh i dont get why we cant have repeat characters, direct and website show different colourways. just let people choose, i can already see kids fighting over who gets yoshi 🙈
On elephants being the only animal - there's an article in I think Wired where one of the developers explains why the drill isn't a mole power up. Namely, because they specifically wanted the protection from above stuff with the power up, which wouldn't have made sense with a mole. Also in that article - During brainstorming they came up with 2000 wonder effects and then filtered down to what was in the game, and they decided against letting us equip multiple badges because that felt a bit too much like Zelda to them, and wanted to maintain a simpler sort of gameplay for Mario (and, if you look at some of the one's that have been announced - a lot of them are either stuff that used to be part of Mario's standard moveset (triple jump seems like it's a badge now, and the crouch jump from Mario 2 is in there), or old character specific abilities either in analogue or in whole (the cap hover is kinda similar to Peach's old hover ability)
The badge system is like Yoshi's woolly world and the Yoshi's being impervious to damage is also largely taken from wooly world, I'm glad they are adding accessibility options
> Mario 3 has the best world map and they still have not reached that level again Mario World would like a word with you. You've got all these islands that just look like decoration, but find the right secret exit and Mario waltzes a trek across the map to go there! Know how much it blew my mind finding Soda Lake as a kid! Trees being cleared away, rock structures forming to make paths, so many fun surprises!
I love how after the Mario Wonder direct they thought it was a good idea to advise the most basic looking Mario Switch ever. Its almost like they're saying, Mario might be new and artistic but Nintendo is still as basic and minimalist as ever
I already feel like this game is taking a lot of mechanical inspiration from recent Kirby games, and if that is the case, I'm even more excited about it
What bugs me a lot about the online multiplayer is that they've proven *twice* that they're capable of giving us legit online co-op, in both Mario Maker 2 and the Switch port of Mario 3D World (whether they work or not is more subjective, as is the case with any online based things). This feels like a needlessly convoluted workaround for it, and I'd honestly just prefer regular online co-op with my friends as opposed to whatever they're giving us here That being said, I love and adore literally everything else about this game and I want to play it yesterday~
You gotta consider how complicated the mechanics in this game are. All the reality shifting wonder seed stuff would be very hard to sync between players online. They probably didn't want to be limited by netplay while implementing features.
@@MySnugglePuppy It's not to the same extent as games like 3D World which elevated its replayability tenfold with online play that has INTERACTIONS. SMM2 also has online co-op, despite the game itself having terrible netcode. NSMBU Deluxe sucks for lacking online play, so wonder at least does everything in its power to give online play BUT the one that's industry standard.
@@BorfieKai No no he do got a point more I think about it. With the way it's made, a player can lag behind PRETTY far without being pushed by the border. Then there's the fact that some items are only obtainable in the normal reality and the Wonder reality, not to mention the entire level itself would change. So imagine if you wanted to grab an important collectable, but then someone ahead picks up a Wonder Flower, causing that important collectable to lock itself out entirely. I believe that's what Nintendo wanted to avoid doing so they made it Dark Souls instead. I don't think it downgrades the co-op aspect. Looking at the two side by side it's basically the same. Player Collision's already debunked for Wonder so what would even be the difference if they were shadows or not. As far as they shown, it doesn't look like you can pick up other players either (which tbh I get people liked that, but it became infuriating for me after a TON of co op experience).
You would think that just an abstract gimmick such as "Oh, everything's on drugs now" would be an excuse for the safest, laziest, low-effort ideas to clutter this game. Instead, it's shaping up to be the jumping-off point for some of the most ambitious, innovative and totally revolutionary gameplay features 2D Mario has ever deigned to give us. Wonder oozes new life from out of every pore and is promising to achieve a remarkable symbiosis between style and substance.
It's Nintendo's main character in a new mainline game, it's going to be a 20 million seller, at the very least. It's going to make them 1 billion+ dollars, literally. That's why it got its own direct.
It’s nice to have a game that harkens back to the days Mario Land and World, when Nintendo was willing to be a little more bold with their choices. I actually really like NSMB Wii and U but the riskiest thing those games did was multiplayer. Wonder seems to have a wider breadth of influences and ideas.
Hey Arlo just a heads up: the ad pre-roll for this vid advertised the Mario Rabbids DLC. Not sure you have any control over that, but, considering that video of you standing in front of a burning bridge, I thought you should know.
Look I don’t mind someone saying they like 3’s map more but to claim, nothing has come close since, is so wrong World’s map is amazing. Secret exits and branching paths. Also the worlds are interconnected on the map. It’s not just one world at a time.
My thoughts... Honestly I love what I am seeing! It is so charming and weird, and that is wonderful! Also elephant! I didn't know that I needed an elephant Peach in my life, but here we are! Wowie zowie indeed!
I find it weird that people expected a Direct in September/October when we already know about Wonder, and Mario RPG, and WarioWare, and Pokémon DLC. I'm guessing November Direct, with info about early 2024.
I'm only disappointed we haven't gotten any hints that Rosalina will be in the game. We could have all 3 of the main Princesses in the same game! ... I am definitely maining Daisy, though.
This game is gonna take "World Bowser" to a whole new level! Also Pac-Man World gave you the ability to freely choose between episodes (levels) from the worlds unlocked in a specific part of the game
Hmm... I think they're gonna be Wonder-specific enemies. Unless we get to visit Flower Kingdom in a more normal game, I think Nintendo would consider them too crazy and leave them only for Wonder (or a new series, who knows?)
I think that's what they traded for. They traded character exclusive abilities for the fact you can practically add any of the character abilities onto anyone. You're not limited to a character to have a certain trait. I noticed in the direct there's a Scuttle Jump badge (Luigi's gimmick with higher jump and floaty fall), and Peach's glide is essentially the Parachute Cap. Toad's speed became the Jet Run badge, but dialed up to 11 due to its new ability to run in midair for some time. Now I do wonder if that means there's gonna be a badge for Daisy's ability, which was double jumping.
Cap Glide is Peach's glide as portrayed in Super Mario Run (and U Deluxe if you count Peachette), when the princesses use it they use their dresses instead of caps and that's what makes it obvious. Then there's the crouching super jump from SMB2USA and the GBA remake of Mario Bros., so I would not be surprised at all if Luigi physics were a badge which just leaves Toad. Also, Turbo Run is a badge and it makes you run at full speed with no way to turn without wall jumping and no way to stop, which seems to be a direct reference to Super Mario Run in and of itself
@@raymaikeruJet Run is more so Super Mario Run because you can't stop or turn with the badge which reads more like the mechanics of that game. I do think Daisy"s ability could be there but I didn't know there was already confirmed Luigi physics based on my above comment lol
I understand that badges replaced some of the characters' abilities from prior games, I just wish it didn't come to that so you could justify more characters being added later (i.e. wario with a charge ability and waluigi(never) with a long jump). Though I don't see any SMB2 style plants you can uproot for Toads' absurd lift power. Overall, I would love to have seen a synergy between these two character ability systems to make some cool loadouts that could make some levels absurdly easy. Instead of relegating the super jump to a badge, have it as a default with different jump heights per character and have the badge add a second level of charge for an even higher jump (not by much, but enough to clear otherwise difficult obstacles), pre existing abilities combining with badges that match it in this fashion would have been a better choice from my perspective.
I want to say the pitch for this game was "You know how people say Super Mario is an acid trip because you eat mushrooms and get bigger and then pick a flower and throw fire? Let's lean in to the acid trip idea."
My theory is they dont want to make a big deal of the next Mario voice by "announcing" him. I feel like a very small reason why this all happened is because of the controversy and talk when Chris Pratt was revealed as movie Mario. Nintendo mightve not liked that the guy behind the voice was as important as the mascot itself. Maybe Martinet was close to retiring and since the franchise is getting a bit of a facelift anyways, they decided to pull the trigger and get him out of the role. Having a new, less recognizable VA will help them put whoever they want as Mario in any other future projects without taking as much backlash.
Is it really "not real co-op" when normal co-op doesn't have player collision physics anymore or let's you throw each other? The only difference between Local Co-Op and Online Co-op in this game is the online players can't help you damage a boss character or other enemies. Bosses that always just have 3 hit points anyway. But they can still save your defeated ghost.
I love how they took so many great elements from previous mario games, like the drill power up from galaxy 2 and the super jump from mario 2 and just bringing every character from the series back. (I still cannot belive they brought a smash Bros skin in for a power up...) then, they combine that with a whole new array of features and make somthing fresh, and add a whole sense of series cohesion. Medals are totally somthing that looks incredible. The vine grapple looks insane, and the invisibility looks Fun as heck. I can't belive they even decided that enough was enough and gave us a way to have actually good swimming in a mario game. wasn't sold on this game at first, but now it's somthing at the top of my list.
The fact that you apparently can't turn the flowers off...I'm gonna hate that. Games are for exploration, not for flowers telling you everything and also they're annoying
Definitely. It would be way better to notice something in the level and think to yourself "Okay, I see something neat, now how can I get to it?" But this direct has the flower saying "HHMM, IT LOOKS LIKE YOU CAN GET A 'SECRET' IF YOU DO THE THING I AM OUTRIGHT TELLING YOU TO DO!" It completely kills the joy of finding things, which is weird because that seems to be a pretty big focus the game, what with them removing the timer and adding exploration based powerups and badges.
You can tell the stark difference between real arlo and Nintendotuber arlo because he really only cared about like 2 things in this trailer but his discussion portions going on about the excitement he’s feeling
Incoming video from Arlo about why he is nervous about this game and provides some BS reasons just to try to get some clicks… surprised he wasn’t complaining the whole video about how he wished they didn’t do this because he didn’t wanna be “spoiled”…
I don't get the hype. Yes the visual aesthetic is improved. Yes there are some nice new mechanics...but it still looks like it has that boring level design the New Bros series did. Much too open and flat to accommodate the 4 potential players. The Wonder Flower sections look fun...but would rather that creativity be applied more to the entire level. Might pass on this.
There's no massive issue with the Bros level design, it has always been pretty solid. There's a reason people bought every game like crazy. But also, what are you talking about? The level design hear is almost completely different. Simple but varied, and the wonder flowers in every level literally make it completely alien to the normal mario style. Don't be obtuse.
@@alexinabox6931 level design felt flat and open to me once New Bros went to Wii and they had to open up and flatten out the level design for 4 players on screen. And like I said I think the Wonder Flower sections look fun....but it feels like an "insert" versus informing more of the overall level with it's creativity. I think I just really miss how World and Island had more meat and exploration to the level design.
@@johnpolishimpossible2say191 Literally Wonder is comparable to World. Have you gone back and played that game lately? I love it to bits but it's got very little in terms of intricacies of the level design. And we haven't even seen how much the new levels are explorable - the wonder flowers are definitely not an afterthought, they're baked into the level design pretty clearly.
I didn't notice it until near the end of this video, but you know what iconic 2D Mario thing is missing from this 2D Mario game? THERE IS. NO. TIME LIMIT! I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. I HATED having a time limit, especially in the levels that required more exploration. I suspect some challenges and maybe even some Wonder moments will have a timer, but this is a huge and (in my opinion) very positive change.
I'm actually a big fan of how they're handling the online. I really liked seeing the ghosts of other players on the Ninja speedruns in Mario Maker 2, and seeing other players live and even being able to interact with them is great
honestly i was on the fence about wonder, not because i thought it looked bad at all from the first teaser, i just am really not big on 2D sidescrolling games, but i'm definitely buying after seeing this direct. they did great making it fresh again and it looks really fun!!
During the reaction half of the video, I noticed Arlo's voice was significantly louder than the direct. I think Arlo and the direct should be the same volume. I only mention this because I think making this change could improve the quality of reaction videos.
The badges look cool because they don't all just help you. That invisibility badge seems mostly like a detriment, but also seems like the sort of thing made for challenge runs. and I've heard of Bowser's Castle, but this is the first time I'm seeing Bowser IS Castle!
This looks like the perfect way to make 2D Mario fresh again. This surrealism really is what we needed. I can't wait to play it.

CNN's comment is: "But while these experiences were often limited to your own living room in previous Mario side-scrollers, Wonder finally lets you romp around with folks all over the world via online play.
You can play through the entirety of Mario’s new adventure with faraway friends, and based on my demo, the whole process seems pretty easy to set up. You can take up to one local buddy with you to your online adventure, which is ideal for playing with a combo of friends both at home and afar. But Wonder’s online capabilities go beyond basic co-op; you also have the option of seeing other players’ “shadows” as you traverse a level, which lets you keep tabs on how other plumbers and princesses are tackling the same course in real time"
Jirard/The Completionist said basically the same thing regarding the online and that there's either 2 people per console or one per console online and talked about the shadows and the friend shadow races like an entirely different thing

For Arlo’s sake I want to see this level of care and creativity put into Paper Mario
I want to see that for my own sake.
What creativity? All the characters play exactly the same, this is a major step back from everything we've seen in recent Mario games
@@chiquita683Nah, this is definitely better than NSMB2, Wii, and U. No doubts.
I do agree that the characters all playing the same is disappointing but in this game is displaying a lot of creativity so far in art style, level design and variety.
@@chiquita683Bro like it matters, the badges are here to change how the game works and we don’t need different characters to play different think more of them like skins.
I love, love, LOVE the badges! That is the coolest innovation for these games!
Those badges are gonna add even more replayability!
That and the fact you can collect standees. Makes this game so much more awesome. So happy this game has personality and things to complete. Can’t wait for it
Agree. And it’s nice they didn’t let it get out of control. One badge at a time keeps it simple.

You haven't seen their Object-Holding Animation...
Really excited for this game planning to get it for my mom since she loves Mario games
I'm even more excited to see Mario Wonder come to Mario Maker 3. With all the new and old enemies, new power-ups, and how would they even incorporate the wonder flower? I hope this happens. These would be very fun tools to build levels with.
The biggest addition is badges. It’s gonna have such a massive impact on gameplay
The 8th world is Bowser.
@@FrankieGarcia-np4up yeah that actually is probly true
World 6 will be the fake-out final world, and World 7 will be the actual final world. World 8 will be the bonus world.
I think the first world is like the tutorial thing with 3 levels
@@zkproductions4351no actually if you go to the exact time frame where I said in my comment you can see that there are a bunch of dots on the world map screen and the first part has dots too meaning they are part of world 1
Super Mario Bros. Wonder got me more excited for 2D Mario again than the New Super Mario Bros. games ever did. Can’t wait to play it this year.

I swear if I have to reach the top of the flagpole with every. single. character. on every. single. level. I'm gonna loose it
Intelligent Systems has no more excuses for their character designs. Then again, they didn’t after Odyssey, or even 3D World.
It turns out that all this time, Bowser's Castle was just a contraction of "Bowser is Castle".
It's a basic story but I'll take any Mario story that isn't 'Bowser kidnaps Peach' if only because it lets Peach be playable.
and we can play as Daisy too!
The way they made Yoshi lip rolled up when he grabs 💀💀
I'm going to thoroughly enjoy watching the speed running community optimize this one. it's going to be really cool.
I like how it comes out the day after my birthday
Personally I think the only reason they let Yoshi be playable at all is to even out the easy mode options considering they couldn't reasonably take HIS abilities from him like everyone else and since it looks like characters can't be repeated they wanted to give more than one person access to easy mode
And besides in the majority of 2D platformers Yoshi is invincible even in his own franchise
tbh i dont get why we cant have repeat characters, direct and website show different colourways. just let people choose, i can already see kids fighting over who gets yoshi 🙈
Watching with arlo is so much better than watching alone ☺️
The badge system is like Yoshi's woolly world and the Yoshi's being impervious to damage is also largely taken from wooly world, I'm glad they are adding accessibility options

Mario World would like a word with you. You've got all these islands that just look like decoration, but find the right secret exit and Mario waltzes a trek across the map to go there! Know how much it blew my mind finding Soda Lake as a kid! Trees being cleared away, rock structures forming to make paths, so many fun surprises!
when the Mario is wonder ful
This feels like a needlessly convoluted workaround for it, and I'd honestly just prefer regular online co-op with my friends as opposed to whatever they're giving us here
That being said, I love and adore literally everything else about this game and I want to play it yesterday~
Love how a 2D Mario has everything I wish for in a Paper Mario
Can't believe it took this long for Mario to catch up with Rayman Origins lol
I am looking forward to playing the game with others
Mario Wonder feel like a game where i could see Kirby.
Wonder is looking to be amazing, just wish it had ACTUAL online co-op, considering 3D World had it with very little problems.
You gotta consider how complicated the mechanics in this game are. All the reality shifting wonder seed stuff would be very hard to sync between players online. They probably didn't want to be limited by netplay while implementing features.
It is actual online co-op. Not to the same degree as local, but you can cooperate with others and help each other out.
@@MerryMidlightAlternatively, I think Nintendo is just super outdated and still doesn't understand online
If classic 2D Mario was weird and unexpected, SMB Wonder is the REAL New Super Mario Bros.
Nintendo: directly interacting with other players online is lava
Dont search Elephant Peach on internet...
Im a Furry, Trust me
I’m a big Nintendo fan with 4 kids and we’ll definitely play this. The flagship games Nintendo puts a lot of effort into usually don’t disappoint.
Wario would have looked so charming if they had made him a playable character. Honestly it eats at me why they don't put him in more games.
THISSS! Especially since wario land is essentially dead, Would've been cool to see
I find it weird that people expected a Direct in September/October when we already know about Wonder, and Mario RPG, and WarioWare, and Pokémon DLC.
I'm guessing November Direct, with info about early 2024.
I'm only disappointed we haven't gotten any hints that Rosalina will be in the game. We could have all 3 of the main Princesses in the same game!
... I am definitely maining Daisy, though.
DK in the DLC.
Maybe she'll be a post-game unlockable like in 3D World.
Imagine Wario Waluigi, DK and Rosalina this game would be absolutely awesome
This game is gonna take "World Bowser" to a whole new level!
Also Pac-Man World gave you the ability to freely choose between episodes (levels) from the worlds unlocked in a specific part of the game
The sooner this comes out, the better! I can hardly wait!
Remember: new enemies means new characters in the paper Mario series
Hmm... I think they're gonna be Wonder-specific enemies.
Unless we get to visit Flower Kingdom in a more normal game, I think Nintendo would consider them too crazy and leave them only for Wonder (or a new series, who knows?)
It would have been nice to see some passive character abilities for the characters like in SMB2 to make them stand out alongside the badges.
Get well arlo!!
The vine grapple looks insane, and the invisibility looks
Fun as heck.
Definitely. It would be way better to notice something in the level and think to yourself "Okay, I see something neat, now how can I get to it?"
But this direct has the flower saying "HHMM, IT LOOKS LIKE YOU CAN GET A 'SECRET' IF YOU DO THE THING I AM OUTRIGHT TELLING YOU TO DO!"
It completely kills the joy of finding things, which is weird because that seems to be a pretty big focus the game, what with them removing the timer and adding exploration based powerups and badges.
You can turn off their voice tho
@@zkproductions4351 doesn't stop them from spoiling secrets...unless the demo is wrong, there's no option to remove both voice and text

I suspect some challenges and maybe even some Wonder moments will have a timer, but this is a huge and (in my opinion) very positive change.
yeah, it seems like the Wonder Flower has a timer
It's a little unfortunate that the world themes are just regular desert, forest, lava.
This was the best chance to do something new.
I'm actually a big fan of how they're handling the online. I really liked seeing the ghosts of other players on the Ninja speedruns in Mario Maker 2, and seeing other players live and even being able to interact with them is great
I'd really appreciate it if future videos weren't insanely quit so that my ears won't be blown out every time an ad pops up

one of the flowers sounded like arlo
During the reaction half of the video, I noticed Arlo's voice was significantly louder than the direct. I think Arlo and the direct should be the same volume. I only mention this because I think making this change could improve the quality of reaction videos.
I think it might get nominated for game of the year. Probably not win, but I would love for it to get nominated.
I like how it’s a 2D Mario game with 3D Mario aspects
Badges? Badges!?! We don’t need no stinkin’ badges!
I wish the dock was blue for Mario's overalls.
The badges look cool because they don't all just help you. That invisibility badge seems mostly like a detriment, but also seems like the sort of thing made for challenge runs.
and I've heard of Bowser's Castle, but this is the first time I'm seeing Bowser IS Castle!
