The random block shown at 16:57 was explained in a Nintendo Treehouse video - they are pretty much just marked hidden blocks that any character can hit, but if the associated character gets close enough to it, it will reveal itself. It's to encourage replaying levels with different characters, which is pretty cool imo

This is going to be one of the best mario platformer games ever! I do love how the online works, the ENDLESS amount of challenge ideas with the badges, and the fact that they finally took out the word "New!" I think of this game as Super Mario Land 2, 2.0!

I had an idea about all the characters still doing their own unique thing, like a “play nice” feature, peach could float but you toggle this and now peach plays normal, toad does his best to not go too fast, yoshi wears a hat for the powerups and doesnt use his tounge, flutter, and lets nobody ride him

The online multiplayer is GENIUS! You can see how everyone else is going through levels and play alongside them but you can still create rooms to play with friends online. AND you can host races in levels to see who can beat them fastest. It's the perfect mix so you can play with friends but if you don't have anyone to play online with you can still play with other people
No. And Wario is not a dam good guy nor is he friends whit anyone on the roster. Did people forget mario land 2 happen. This is not a spinoff game every mario character don't need to be in every Mario game.

Given that it looks like you can't interact/jump on people even in local co-op anymore, I'm not sure there's much of a difference between making a room with your friends and traditional online co-op.
OK get ready for a rant The Yoshis and nabbit are not exactly easy mode characters because they can still get knocked back by enemies when they take damage. the normal characters don’t have this property meaning that the Yoshi’s and nabbit are slightly harder to work with movement wise, especially since you lose control why you’re being flung back, which increases your chances of falling into a pit. Additionally, nabbit used to be able to convert power ups into oneups at the end of each level but now they can’t interact with power ups at all, except for Yoshi being able to eat them, which I can’t find a use for. This means that nabbit is slightly harder to use, but because of the special Yoshi mechanics, they are on par with the normal characters
my personal prediction for the weird world count is that there is in fact eight worlds, it's just that the eighth one is bowser's castle. after all, there really doesn't seem to be a "final world" that would lead naturally to a bowser encounter.
Given How It Doesn't Have A World Number, As Well As How It's In The Very Centre, I Think The Petal Isles Will Be Something We Constantly Come Back To In Order To Reach The Next World. Besides, It'd Be Pretty Weird At This Point For A Mario Platformer To NOT Have A Challenging Postgame World. The thing about Prince Florian is that they introduce him as a "benevolent" prince (strange that they specify that he's good) and also is a worm/caterpillar in the Flower Kingdom (they eat plants). But Peach and Mario eat mushrooms and they are in the Mushroom Kingdom so idk...🧍🏻
i feel so alone being a massive fan of the new online they made it an mmo everyone’s playing on and making progress on their own save file you can all play the same levels together if you want but you don’t actually need to, you can just go bother your friends for shits and giggles if you want and i love it
5:09 actually, it's the exact opposite. When they say "Break Time", they mean literally take a break from the challange levels, and have a small dose of relaxing stage. We got to see one in Nintendo Treehouse, and it was done in two seconds or so. 7:48 well, we haven't seen any levels having more than three Wonder Seeds. From what we've seen so far, you get one from the Wonder Flower (in normal levels - not Badge Challange or Break Time stages), one from the normal exit, and one from the secret exit - if there is one. 14:10 yeah, that's what I was talking about. Thanks to the Treehouse footage, as well as journalist preview footage, we know that Wonder Seed 2 comes from the normal exit, and Wonder Seed 3 comes from the secret exit. But then again, I also heard some uncomfirmed reports that some levels have multiple Wonder Flowers. I don't know if we can believe that right now. 17:10 and these ones, I heard are called "Expert Badges", according to the journalists who got to try them out. I haven't seen confirmation, but the names makes sense. They're essentially meant to challange yourself. You know what would be amazing? If Nintendo aknowledges some of the popular challange videos, and actually makes badges like "coin = death" or "always crouch". I'm probably asking for too much, but just the fact that Nintendo isn't afraid of giving the player an option to ADD extra challange is already amazing, cuz it's not something I would expect from them. At least not in this kind of way. 19:46 nah, that's for the best. Not every stage is gonna work well for racing, there's undoubtably gonna be stages with a lot of waiting, or just slow pacing in general, so they wouldn't work well for racing. We'll just have to wait and see which ones have racing as an option. It might turn out that Nintendo did us a favour by removing the ability to race in stages where they wont work well.

I actually like the online mode. You can play normally but just with a few added stuff like communicating with other players and exchanging items. To me it doesn’t seem like a stupid choice. It’s unique and if you want you can play though the whole game that way without much trouble. Someone needs to try to speed run the whole game in online mode. I would watch that.
i remember watching a reaction to the direct by someone (dont remember who) but they mentioned that using online play; they could totally have a friend set up a standee before a hard speedrun trick so they can retry it - i think thatd be pretty cool (i imagine the speedruns would be seperated between online and offline though; since online people could give you powerups too; and requires multiple people)
@@ViIvaNunnerthat would be a great way to practice difficult speedrun tricks. I can definitely see some tech with the bubble flower and some or the badges like the parachute cap, grappling vine and that advanced wall jump thing
12:30 This area is a bad example. You get a Mini Mushroom in that block. The only level that has a Mini Pipe that I know of in a level without a Mini Mushroom is that one Soda Jungle stage with the tall stretching Piranha Plants, although that exit isn’t required to get every Star Coin. You have to explore the level to find the Mini Mushroom. I think you’re thinking of the Tower level that has Grrrols in it, which has a Mini Mushroom but it’s hidden in a block that’s inside a false wall. You also have to avoid touching the checkpoint because if you do it will turn you back to Super form. In short, every level except the one I mentioned that has a Mini Pipe has a Mini Mushroom hidden somewhere in the level, you just have to find it first. Or maybe that one does and I just haven’t found it, who knows?
I just realized that the Mini Pipe at the end of that Soda Jungle level with the stretching Piranha plants is there because you need to fall down Donut Blocks to reach the other exits, so they accounted for Mini Mario by adding a Mini Pipe that takes you to the end of the level because Mini Mario can’t make Donut Blocks fall.
The floaty jump is just luigis jump. it doesnt work on yoshi because they will just flutter jump and im not sure about nabbit because nobody played as nabbit while we were playing at nintendo live. I also got really confused when the next stage was locked behind 99 wonder seeds instead of 10 but right after I realized the demo was over and that was all there was to play. Otherwis I go to try out all of the badges and its was really epic. The bonus stage we got to play was awesome and the challenge stage we got to play was a great way to introduce the vertical wall jump. I'm honestly really excited for what this game has in store and I have to pre-order it soon but I' not forgetting about any other games like Sonic Superstars or Super Mario RPG because I already know those are going to be great. Also if you had the patience to read this entire comment, you're epic.
The exclamation block badge has been confirmed in various gameplay demos to work exactly like the switch palaces from SMW At least you were right about one thing
I have a couple theories. First I believe the different wonder seed colors is more than visual I believe each one is a different mechanic. Second if my above theory is correct the final boss against Bowser could have him use all the Wonder seeds against you. Lastly in the opening cutscene after Bowser fused with the castle there were 6 Piranha Plants and there's exactly 6 worlds not counting any bonus ones. I'm guessing you have to take down these piranha plants in a world to move on

You know what would be amazing? If Nintendo aknowledges some of the popular challange videos, and actually makes badges like "coin = death" or "always crouch". I'm probably asking for too much, but just the fact that Nintendo isn't afraid of giving the player an option to ADD extra challange is already amazing, cuz it's not something I would expect from them. At least not in this kind of way.
19:46 nah, that's for the best. Not every stage is gonna work well for racing, there's undoubtably gonna be stages with a lot of waiting, or just slow pacing in general, so they wouldn't work well for racing.
We'll just have to wait and see which ones have racing as an option. It might turn out that Nintendo did us a favour by removing the ability to race in stages where they wont work well.

I actually like the online mode. You can play normally but just with a few added stuff like communicating with other players and exchanging items. To me it doesn’t seem like a stupid choice. It’s unique and if you want you can play though the whole game that way without much trouble. Someone needs to try to speed run the whole game in online mode. I would watch that.
i remember watching a reaction to the direct by someone (dont remember who) but they mentioned that using online play; they could totally have a friend set up a standee before a hard speedrun trick so they can retry it - i think thatd be pretty cool (i imagine the speedruns would be seperated between online and offline though; since online people could give you powerups too; and requires multiple people)
@@ViIvaNunnerthat would be a great way to practice difficult speedrun tricks. I can definitely see some tech with the bubble flower and some or the badges like the parachute cap, grappling vine and that advanced wall jump thing

12:30 This area is a bad example. You get a Mini Mushroom in that block. The only level that has a Mini Pipe that I know of in a level without a Mini Mushroom is that one Soda Jungle stage with the tall stretching Piranha Plants, although that exit isn’t required to get every Star Coin. You have to explore the level to find the Mini Mushroom. I think you’re thinking of the Tower level that has Grrrols in it, which has a Mini Mushroom but it’s hidden in a block that’s inside a false wall. You also have to avoid touching the checkpoint because if you do it will turn you back to Super form. In short, every level except the one I mentioned that has a Mini Pipe has a Mini Mushroom hidden somewhere in the level, you just have to find it first. Or maybe that one does and I just haven’t found it, who knows?
I just realized that the Mini Pipe at the end of that Soda Jungle level with the stretching Piranha plants is there because you need to fall down Donut Blocks to reach the other exits, so they accounted for Mini Mario by adding a Mini Pipe that takes you to the end of the level because Mini Mario can’t make Donut Blocks fall.

The floaty jump is just luigis jump. it doesnt work on yoshi because they will just flutter jump and im not sure about nabbit because nobody played as nabbit while we were playing at nintendo live. I also got really confused when the next stage was locked behind 99 wonder seeds instead of 10 but right after I realized the demo was over and that was all there was to play. Otherwis I go to try out all of the badges and its was really epic. The bonus stage we got to play was awesome and the challenge stage we got to play was a great way to introduce the vertical wall jump. I'm honestly really excited for what this game has in store and I have to pre-order it soon but I' not forgetting about any other games like Sonic Superstars or Super Mario RPG because I already know those are going to be great. Also if you had the patience to read this entire comment, you're epic.

I have a theory that Mario will get a wonder flower at the end to turn into a castle and fight Bowser
I have a couple theories. First I believe the different wonder seed colors is more than visual I believe each one is a different mechanic. Second if my above theory is correct the final boss against Bowser could have him use all the Wonder seeds against you. Lastly in the opening cutscene after Bowser fused with the castle there were 6 Piranha Plants and there's exactly 6 worlds not counting any bonus ones. I'm guessing you have to take down these piranha plants in a world to move on
