I'm in the same boat. Other things have been taking priority for a bit over a year now, and I really just don't have the space, but I continue to watch all of Jang's videos
The build is pretty much as good as I would want it to be for display and the price is fair for what's included. It's just so weird why there's no Robin or any 2nd minifigure
This could have gone from already good to perfection if they didn't cheap out on the Minifigures and the prints. Where is Robin? Where is the Joker? And last of all where are the prints for this display sets. If their competitors can do it, they can too. Give us premium quality if you charge premium prices, Lego.
If you want that to happen, people should stop buying these set. That’s the only thing that sends a message to Lego. But why would they make things more premium if people buy anyways? I totally understand from their business model.
Saw this in a Lego store yesterday and blew me away! Searched up for your review on it but it wasn’t there then, but it’s there now! It’s like you had it ready for me haha. Love the content.
It‘s a really nice build, but I personally really like minifig scaled things with the proper minifigs. Models of stuff that doesn’t need to be Lego or doesn’t look like Lego just don’t get me excited that much. I am happy that Lego also offers sets for my kind of crowd.
I was so excited when I saw this was coming. Even the price seemed reasonable for the size. Then I saw a lot of early access reviews of it, and the build experience for it looks like it could be a very boring set to build. Does it look good? Yes Does it look exactly accurate? No, but it's a close facsimile. I think the lack of 'features' makes this a set that I'll wait for instead of rushing to get, because it just seems like they phoned it in this time. Love the fair review though. Thank You
I'm perfectly fine with this having almost no features or moving parts other than the trunk and wheels. Features are a must only for Technic sets and play sets, this is definitely a display set. And the sole Batman minifig is a nice bonus to complete the price.
I agree with you on this set. It's not a... " fun" or interesting build. I don't think I "enjoyed" it until the 7th or 8th bag when its started feeling and looking more like the Batmobile and some more interesting building. No steering, no gimmicks, no Robin... A cheaper price. (Would you have thought a '66 Batmobile in this scale would cost $150?) So.. I dunno. It looks cool and I like it.
Fair review, as usual. I don't care about the missing Robin minifig, would have been totally okay if the Batman fig hadn't been there either. Even then at €150 it would still have felt like decent value, at least compared to other sets. As for the lack of functions, I'm a bit on two minds here. Looking back at the Ecto-1, indeed, I don't think I used them for like two years or so. But still, that amazing built experience just wouldn't have been the same. I don't quite expect that same experience here, it seems all about about the result. But then again, had they gone all out with functions, this would have been well over €200 probably. The lack of steering though....I don't really care about an actual steering mechanism, but it just looks cool with the wheels at an angle. And while I understand why it can't all be stickers (this is just Lego after all, not a premium brand like Cobi..), I think at least those bats on the side should have been prints. Still, mostly a great looking set, and considering I have already seen it with a nice discount, it won't take long before I'll buy it.
This set almost has the opposite problem other sets suffer from. As Jang has said before they make these sets to a price, which normally ends up with Lego trying to make the set worth the money by adding features in. In this case it's almost like they removed features, or figures, to fit the price. Overall though it seems more value for money than a lot of other sets of the same kind.
This set looks amazing. I can only hope that they make a Batmobile in this scale based off of The Batman to round off their series of iconic live-action Batmobiles in large scale. However, and I don’t often care about minifig *selection* in non-minifig scale sets (detail/accuracy is *always* important to me), this needs Robin, as the car very explicitly is intended to hold two people at once and often does in the show. I also would like steering, not to play with, but because I think those large cars look better on display with angled wheels. Not a deal breaker though.
This was so much better than the pictures made it out to be! I am very impressed with it and have nothing much to complain about. A robin might have been nice though.
As a minifig collector, I also agree they should stop including minifigs in these big builds because they frequently are exclusive and become unobtainabley expensive through bricklink as a result. Especially the ones paired with super expensive builds
I don't think they needed to include figures with this set or the other big Batmobiles but they've set the standard of including figures with these Batmobiles so it's understandable that people are expecting them. I already have a 60s Batman and Robin from the Batcave but it did feel like an odd thing to leave out Robin in this set and the most recent minifigure scale one. It feels a bit deliberate given how little we've seen Robin in sets recently and the fact that this Batmobile is the one with only one figure when really this is the one that should've had 2 to go with it and the other 3 Batvehicles could've skipped the extra figures. Those movies mainly feature Batman riding in those vehicles on his own while this one almost always had 2 of them in the Batmobile. I agree with Jang about the lack of features but I'm also not too fussed because I'm one of those people that buys a set, builds it and puts it on a shelf for years. Features would've been nice but if it saves money, then I'm okay with them leaving then out
Nice vehicle that looks pretty spot on. I'm surprised by the lack of action features and gimmicks, but you're right that most people probably wouldn't use them that much. Oh yes, the price is shockingly low for this. Oh jeez, I'm getting really tired of the minifig obsessed complaints, too!
Not sure if this is a new style or if I've been living under a rock, but really liked this edit/filming style. We can see you and the model together, such a cool style
I was really excited when I saw this being announced. Now seeing the actual size of it sitting on your desk I´m even more overwhelmed. So what keeps me from getting it for myself? I can accept the stearing issue, I do agree it is a display model, but man, the stickers. I´m not a 100% sticker hater, but I´d call myself a print lover when it comes to display things for adults. No problem having stickers on playsets. But having many older used bought Ninjago Sets, I doubt the quality of the common lego stickers. They simply start to get off and lose adhesion after like 7-10 years. And for a collector this is bitter. Impossible to make them stick again, impossible to get them off completely without paint marks and glue remains on the bricks. Cleaning them is a pain in the ...well, you know. If this had mainly prints for like 50 bucks more, I would get it and I guess many other folks my age (boomer) would do so as well. At least in Europe. Oh well, but that´s life. One cannot tell a large market leading company how to run their business. (And I am the last person who wants to do so). Thank you for showing it anyhow. Greetings from Germany!
I'm sure the sticker sheet was quite big with this set, and that probably helped keep the costs down too. Honestly find it a great value for the size of vehicle this is, and the fact that it [needlessly] comes with a minifig. The large Ghostbuster's Echo 1 car - I don't think that came with any minifigs, right? Weird they decided to put the Adam West one in this, plus a build that doesn't seem appropriate for his version of Batman [I watched the series long ago, but I don't remember him ever up on a building posing over a gargoyle]. I absolutely love the source material and this does a good job of capturing it, though I am bugged by the not-round fenders. I do look forward to building it [it just arrived yesterday after using your affiliate link a few days after it came out and was backordered]. I’m one who was disappointed about the missing Robin, but I’m a big fan of the source material of the car. The only thing is that the nose doesn’t look quite right to me, but I could be wrong
I’m too young for this era of Batman but I love the shaping and the price! I’ll pick it up. The UCS Tumbler came with two minifigs that didn’t fit but I don’t care about that.
It looks great, could have been more accurate, but close enough. Lack of features is bad. My biggest issue with this is the build, it's too basic. I'm not an advanced moc builder and I could have done this myself. In Sweden it's $189 on the lego website, tax included. Thanks for the review!
I suspect Lego didn't want to add the minifig but felt they needed to given the other big scale Batman vehicles (89 Batmobile, Batwing, Tumbler) all came with minifigs.
Funny talking about the build technique being a bit plain, yet this one is tempting to someone that doesn't usually pursue large Lego car sets.😉Actually took some time for me to appreciate the TV show being an '89 fan heh, I think I just liked Adam West period so that was the tail end of the wedge to watch it more.
I think they did the correct thing with the wheel arches, you wouldnt be able to make a continuous arch with existing pieces without making it look goofy.
Oh NO did I somehow lose that clip? I filmed it .. can't believe I either left it out or accidentally deleted it. It was not a good day. Way too much brain fog. Sorry about that. Edit: Looking into it further, I see what went wrong. Both that file and the spare parts segment got moved out of the project folder by my mistake. I still should have noticed their absence in the final edit, but at least now I have an explanation for how we got here.
[Edit: Corrected/discussed in comments] As far as I know, the classic Batmobile didn’t have working doors either. The production designers wanted Batman and Robin to be very active and have a lot of movement on set, jumping in and out of the car, so they on purposely removed the door function on the car itself. Wonderful review as always Jang!
@@JANGsLEGOreviews I could definitely be wrong, human memory and all, but there was a behind the scenes bit that came with the old VHS of the movie where they talked about the car and all it's versions used in the movie. It could have been a specific version of the car, like one of the stunt versions. There were definitely scenes in the movie where Batman and Robin climbed over the doors while in the batcave and I thought they said it was because of inoperable doors. Could be misremembering so probably less of a "fun fact" now haha.
If I had to choose between this set without play features but purely as a display model for 150 Euro, OR the same set but with working steering and other play features included for say 200 - 230 Euro, I'd definitely prefer the cheaper display version like this! In the end, after I've completed building it, I'll put it on a shelf for display only and I don't play with it anyway. So this is fine by me!
It has a license plate?? I did not realize that the classic batmobile was a licensed and registered vehicle in Gotham City. Was it registered to Bruce Wayne or an alias? Seems like that would make it much harder to keep a secret identity.
The Adam West Batman minifig has also been included in several other sets, so the one included here is not unique, so it's not like people would need to buy this set for this exclusive minifigure. I think they could have just left him out. Now, the minifig-scale Batmobile (which I do have) is a situation where I wish they had included Robin instead of the Joker. That's one where I have beef 😂.
At first sight this thing looks great, then I see those wheel arches, no chrome wheels, no steering, no opening doors, at this scale I would like to see all of this, I'm not bothered about engine detail. Batman but no Robin, I agree... either both or neither.
Potentially very unpopular opinion lol, but I think it would have been cool if they included a Batman and Robin in the same style as the recent Wednesday Addams' they released recently, the ~5 inch tall one. It would have been perfectly to scale, right?
I remember your review of the DB5 saying to sacrifice the gadgets for a better looking car to sit on the shelf. I get it, but I don’t entirely agree. However, Lego took your advice and made a simple Batmobile that looks very good and nothing else. The only feature I’m missing here is opening doors. This is a BIG miss
It's a nice set and the car looks good. But they should have either included Robin, or no minifigs at all. And what's up with the gargoyle? Brooding on top of one is not Adam West Batman's thing.
Not able to open the doors is kind of meh.. but unable to steer is just very lazy and cheap. For a display piece it should be able to put the wheels at an angle. As a modelcar collector in the past, I did put the wheels on each of them on a specific angle to have it display as I wanted it. But then again.. this is lego so it should be a easy fix.
Great lego model, price seems about right. As for minifigs and large car models, it’s been kind of weird for a while. Ecto 1 and Bond Aston Martin got no figs, the DeLorean, Tumbler and 89 Batmobile did. 🤷♂️ This kind of set is all about the model, anyway. Not a set I’m going to get as this Batmobile doesn’t really mean anything to me. Still looks very nice.
Do you think this would make a good flying car? Remove the wheels, make it look like something out of 5th element? Look past the Batmobile and see it as a futuristic flying car?
With all the stickers lego has been releasing lately, I think it's safe to say, 2025 is shaping up to be the year of the sticker... That's a shame really.
My dad has a toy version of this var from the 60's. That little car at a scale of 1:43 have so many features. It has a fireworks shooter and a sawblade. The exhaust hade a flame moving when the car is Rolling. Why can such a small car have so many features but not a Lego-thing?
Respectfully, Jang, I have to disagree with your opinion on the minifigure. Personally, I think it's fine to include it in the set, and I don't believe it affects the set's value much-especially since the price is already set before the design process begins. I also think it's better for those who don’t want the figure to have an extra one, rather than for those who bought an expensive set to have to buy another just to get it. For me, the issue arises when the figure is made exclusive for the set.
Meh. Fenders aren’t round, no engine, trunk doesn’t open. It will take a ton of work to make it what it should be. Minifigs are the least of my concern.
I always got suspicious of this set's price even when it was officially announced, because it's so odd that in 2024, a licensed set that's this big (around half a metre long) with this many parts and detailing could cost the same as the much smaller Icons Corvette. It's also larger and cheaper than all the other current Icons/Creator Expert cars. But of course the penny drops in discovering the lack of features and the build which looks comparatively straightforward. It's probably why it's so well priced; then again, you wonder how often you'll play around with those features, so if cutting some out can get us reasonably priced sets like this, I don't mind.
Same. I compared it to the Creator Expert/Icons vehicles and the price seemed crazy. This seemed more like pricing you'd expect in the 2010s rather than the price you'd expect now. I am a bit disappointed about the lack of features but I think I'd still rather get a cheaper set than pay more for features
It's a package of weird compromises to me. Either include Robin, or include no minifigures at all. And either go for very high detail, or go for action features. This does neither. Luckily I am not a Batman fan, otherwise i'd be disappointet. Nice Review by the way.
I’m not a sticker hater, but Lego making the distinction between printed/sticker plaques for some themes but not others is strange. Like… it’s the same mould as the Star Wars ones, right? Why not print all of them, aside from production costs?
For such a big company with decades and decades of experience and having a big worldwide community/fanbase they can consult, I just don't understand how Lego can go for the worst solution. It's either no minifigs (which is ok in this case as it's indeed a build set rather than a playset) or give both Batman and Robin. I mean it's not rocket science.
I took and continue to take a lengthy break from bricks but JANG's is the best LEGO channel.

But then how they'll get their premium profits?
Amen. Many sets by Lego feel like rip-offs when you see what the competition is doing with their designs, prints, and pricing these days.
If you want that to happen, people should stop buying these set. That’s the only thing that sends a message to Lego.
But why would they make things more premium if people buy anyways?
I totally understand from their business model.
Yeah what the hell I have the smaller minifigure scale one that came out like a year or two ago and even that one comes with the classic joker

KISS. Keep it simple. A phenomenal set simply done. The mark of a talented designer. Will Robin come out in a CMF or Polybag? Cheers Jang.
Robin, pass me the shark reppelant bat spray. Holy bat, tastic bat car. Sorry, I just had to say it.
I think they did the correct thing with the wheel arches, you wouldnt be able to make a continuous arch with existing pieces without making it look goofy.
Love this set, very classic, great value
Should have come with Robin!
Disappointed to see no up close review on the Batman minifig
When did that happen? I've seen tons of footage of West opening the door, and occasionally Robin did too.
The main picture on the Batmobile page of the 60s Batman wiki shows Batman opening the door in the batcave
Great review, and t-shirt 😊
Lots of good details in your reviews
If I had to choose between this set without play features but purely as a display model for 150 Euro, OR the same set but with working steering and other play features included for say 200 - 230 Euro, I'd definitely prefer the cheaper display version like this! In the end, after I've completed building it, I'll put it on a shelf for display only and I don't play with it anyway. So this is fine by me!
It has a license plate?? I did not realize that the classic batmobile was a licensed and registered vehicle in Gotham City. Was it registered to Bruce Wayne or an alias? Seems like that would make it much harder to keep a secret identity.
I'd like to have seen a closer look at the front grill, which appears to have a slight downward tilt built in.
Amazing looking model just missing some extra features maybe
Yeah, more like a statue than a toy.
There should have been a Robin. But considering I'm just looking for a demonstration piece, looks good to me.
At first sight this thing looks great, then I see those wheel arches, no chrome wheels, no steering, no opening doors, at this scale I would like to see all of this, I'm not bothered about engine detail. Batman but no Robin, I agree... either both or neither.
Good review!
Potentially very unpopular opinion lol, but I think it would have been cool if they included a Batman and Robin in the same style as the recent Wednesday Addams' they released recently, the ~5 inch tall one. It would have been perfectly to scale, right?
Danke Jang!
Thank YOU for the kind and generous support! 🙏
3:06 the pictures were good to see - my main issue is the “mouth” looks like it juts out too far past the “eyes”
But then again.. this is lego so it should be a easy fix.
nice video
The absence of action features seems like a big miss, especially considering previous sets like the Bond Aston Martin, which was LOADED.
This set is missing Robin SO bad 😢
Hey Jang, could you please make a video reviewing the Cobi boeing 747
I wish there was steering on the front but I understand not including it.
dang barebones
I’m bummed that there’s no steering. Makes it feel like Lego somehow cut corners slightly on that part.
Imo if you're not gonna add "features" or steering or anything as much as possible needs to be prints.
different new windscreen pieces for *front and rear* but formula tires are still the same 😢
For such a big company with decades and decades of experience and having a big worldwide community/fanbase they can consult, I just don't understand how Lego can go for the worst solution. It's either no minifigs (which is ok in this case as it's indeed a build set rather than a playset) or give both Batman and Robin. I mean it's not rocket science.
tv batmobile, 89 batmobile and tumbler. are these models at similar scale.
It needs an engine but i do like my monies to stay in my bank account and not all go into Legos
No chrome wheels and squared off fenders equals no buy for me.
It's the only recent set that I am interested in, but not at $AUD250. It's just getting ridiculous. So reluctantly I have to leave this one be.
The tumbler didn't have steering or a engine. Definitely not put me of the set
