You young kids. Born in 65' so I grew up watching this Batman show. To me this is the original batmobile which is why I want it even though I don't usually buy the Batman stuff. Only have the shadow box but that is unique. Honestly I'm glad they didn't add the features you mentioned and kept it $100 cheaper otherwise I probably wouldn't buy it. Hell it's for display anyway so I don't need to open the hood. I do like that you bring up these different points though.
My son has the Ecto and after he built it, I retted not getting it for myself. These Legos are more expensive for me since I have to buy 2. One for me and one for him. Haha
I loved the 1989 Batmobile. That’s my Batmobile. But I also watched the 1960’s Batman in syndication as a kid in the 80’s. It means something to me too. I picked it up today and am building it.
I love this set and picked it up day one. It’s interesting to hear your commentary and the other commentary across the Internet about these UCS type sets and their overall cost. Here Lego definitely save some money by only providing one mini figure, adding all kinds of stickers And eliminating some of the functionality for what’s not designed to be a play set. This is kind of what people have been asking for when they complain about the 250 300 and $400 price tag on some of the other sets such as the Tumblr the 1989 Batmobile The batwing and the shadowbox. In my opinion, this was Legos attempt to strike the right balance hearing all that feedback, but it definitely has some drawback such as a working hood with an engine lots of stickers and so on
My feedback for Lego is going forward due away with all the stickers and print the tiles. I understand they become one off and are more expensive to manufacture that way, but as a guy with big hands, trying to put a one by two sticker on a one by two plate is really challenging to get it nice And even on all sides.
I don't mind the missing play features to a certain extent but not opening/closing doors and lack of a Robin minifigure was a big let down for me. It's a fun build but let down but these two missing elements IMO.
Looks great! I hope they continue releasing classic American cars. If they can make this car look so good, I’d love to see them do a ‘57 Chevy Bel Air and a ‘59 Chevy Impala. Although, it was sad that they couldn’t capture the proper front fender lines of the Corvette C1 but what can you do?…..
I really liked this build, however the flat wheel wells are unrealistic. I changed them to be more round/curved as they are on the real 1966 batmobile.
Thank you for the comparison review! Love seeing how sets compare to others. Saw you had the smaller version of the classic TV bat mobile and that would have been nice to compare as well. My biggest beef with the set is the bizarre reason we can't pre-order it during "Batman Day" promotion running 9/17-9/23. Missed opportunity to say the least.
I do like how close they got it to look like the classic TV series bat mobile. But Like yourself - It is missing out on all the cool features they could have done with this. Anyways - Awesome job as always on the review Alex.
This is my favorite Batmobile, though definitely not my favorite Batman series. I have all the minfig scale Batmobiles, so I’m not sure I’ll ever pick this up.
decent price, looks amazing but lacks A TON of play features...something the deloren, ecto 1, and aston martin "comparable" sets have. Granted those sets I mention are priced higher so im not knocking this nw batmobile too bad but dang it seems like such a massive missed opportunity to add some gadgets and play features for an extra $60-80 bucks.
Love the set. When I think of a Batmobile, this is what I think of. It’s my favourite. That said… why oh god why did they not include Robin. They keep doing this! Grr. Am I right in thinking he’s only appeared once in the batcave play set?
While I am happy to get this, I would have much rather received the Sail Barge. But there are a lot of Star Wars only channels out there and they will always get them.
No flame out the back, No Robin? 150 is not cheap, especially as it's not printed tiles, just stickers...I cannot help think that Lego missed on this one....
I don’t mind at all this not having features. I’d rather a cheaper model than something packed with internal features because that’s just going to be on display and I will rarely if ever do things with the play features
I was really looking forward to this one but now that I see all the reviews I'm not sure I'll buy it. Yes it's cheap but these iconic movie/tv cars should not be cheap if it means less detail. Since the likelihood of them being remade, at this scale, in the future is slim then Lego should be making the best possible all decked out version from the get go. Then there are the usual gripes : no steering, no engine, no gimmicks, lots of stickers, square fenders and, worst of all, no Robin. Compared to the Ecto-1 and DeLorean, it feels like a big step backwards. To me, the "we don't play with them once they're built" argument is irrelevant. The joy of building a fully detailed and complex set IS a big part of enjoying Lego. I love the 66 series and I'm a bit sad that Lego thought we'd prefer a lower price model over intricate detailed one. Again, no Robin. Why? At this point it's not a question of money. Something fishy is going on and it irks me to no end.
I was looking forward to purchasing the set, but I'm not sure now. Like you, no steering and no engine is a miss. I washed the series and have a box set of the few seasons it aired , also the engine was rarely shown or never shown, can't remember. Also the stickers are disappointing and again they did not include Robin. There are great and super detailed 1/18 die cast and super detailed Batmobile out there. The latest one includes Batman , Robin as well as the Jocker and Penguin. So spend money those ones instead of the lego one . Have a great week and I look forward to your next video. 😀
Nice review as always. Missed opportunity for an opening door and HoG steering which wouldn't add too many extra parts. I wonder would it be possible to customise the thing on the top to make it into a HoG steering?
It's a display model. It doesn't need turning wheels. I don't want to pay more for that pointless feature Why I never got the Aston Martin because all the features made it too blocky & ironically the speed champions looks better at a fraction of the price
Looks bad, nothing like the actual 1966 Batmobile, the wheel arch's, the glass bubble windshields, the front end, its all waaaaay off. Was going to be a day one buy for me to put next to the Tumbler, 1989 Batmobile and The Batman 2022 Batmobile. On top of that it only comes with one minifig???? defiantly not buying it at all looks terrible all around.

I'm Happy With $150 And No Play Features Than $300 With Them
This video makes me want to get the Ecto-1 more than the Batmobile! 👻
haha, I am not surprised.
Yeah untill the white plastic starts to turn yellow
@@dyritenthen you have the Afterlife one

Buy for me. My large sets sit on shelves to be admired so the lack of play features in return for a lower price is a great trade.

Cool set but I’m with you on the 1989 Batmobile. It’s so iconic
A must have for me. Would have liked a robin minifig too 😊though.
66 Robin has already been made. If you were a true fan, you would already have him.
@@studebricker2845 I do in another set. I'm a bigger fan than you I bet.

I can’t wait to get this, I want to display it right next to delurian
Fun fact: Lego advertises the revolving wheels as a function - 🤪! And since when are stickers gadgets - 😩?

You should compare it to the James Bond Aston Martin which was a similar price with a ton of features.
I do like how close they got it to look like the classic TV series bat mobile. But Like yourself - It is missing out on all the cool features they could have done with this. Anyways - Awesome job as always on the review Alex.
Having The smaller retired version (76188) is good enough IMO
I mean, do you want inexpensive or cute play features you use a couple times?
Good point! They mostly stay untouched.
While its a valid point, I still like to have engines in my vehicles of this scale. Just sayin.
Where did you get that Batman t shirt

Why no Robin?
Robin got snubbed again!

The #76188 didn't have one either. Still disappointed.

Bellissima la Batmobile Classic
Looks ok, and a great price...BUT!!! Why are the wheel arches square????? And why has nobody mentioned this????

I'm sure someone will design a V8 engine and steering mechanism for it. If that happens, I'd think long and hard about modifying the car

I think HoG steering is possible, but it would take some serious mods. The tires have absolutely no wiggle room in those wheel wells.
Not interested, but one thing I don't like about the large cars is the scales they build them in are all over the place.
Good point, the scale of these are really inconsistent.
