Me Too :D I Love It SO MUCH! Especially In Nintendo Titles. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Is My Favorite Game, and Since It's an RPG, You Know It's Loaded With A Lot of Unused Content. It's So Interesting To Look At Unused and Hidden Content in (Nintendo) Games.
If you want to see some fascinating unused content, you should check out Sticker Star. The e3 2010 trailer as well as various things left in the files can be traced back to it being a proper Paper Mario game instead of what we got instead. It's kind of sad seeing what we could've gotten, though.
I can't help but find it amusing that you still do Stylish commands for a purely informative video like this. But then, you get so used to doing them after a while.
Throughout the game I was actually wondering if Luigi's actions in Waffle actually had something to do with the X-nauts plans. Could you imagine if the secret X-naut base was actually in the Waffle kingdom THE WHOLE TIME and Luigi ended up becoming the final partner when you go to take down whatever the Waffle Kingdom monster was called?
Yeah i’d love to see this game getting remade and Nintendo doing something like they did with bowsers inside story were they added an additonal gamemode here i would love to see that be something like paper luigi and the princesses tiara
I actually tweeted about that not too long ago! Paper Luigi really should happen I think for the switch, you know, so they can Switch things up a little~? XD . . . . . I'll leave now.
4:44 "There are also entries for some strange things... Zess T. Mr. Hoggle. Flavio. Podley. Lakitu Reporter... They all have a battle entry." 2spooky4me
I feel like Zess T. might have tried to fight Mario after being mad about her broken contacts. And I bet that Mario originally stole the Yoshi egg from Mr. Hoggle. But those are just guesses.
@dragonmanover9000 and maybe you had to fight Flavio to get his skull gem Either that, or the gem originally DID explode and he got so mad, you had to fight him
...then replace their newer counterparts and edit all their dialogue to fit them. The different animations would make it hard, though, but Goombella/Goombario and Koops/Kooper would be easiest.
Oh also in the post game you can go back to mushroom kindom and be just like paper Mario 64 except Bowser s Castle for obyus reasons and all enemies should be around LV40 and when Mario goes back you get 64 partners and in rougeport the new ones with the pit of 100 trials
I would have loved to see what the development of TTYD looked like. It seemed so interesting. If I recall there was footage of an older version of the Sewers
Someone should show this to +MaxofFewTrades Goombella is his favorite character in Paper Mario and I'm sure he'd love to see her make these witty remarks about the unused enemies and NPCs.
Impressed by how much work you put into this, editing the tattles like that made it more fun to watch, gave the video some personality. Personally though, I do kinda wish you had chosen a battle stage that didn't have those handrails, they obscure some of the enemy sprites, especially the smaller ones.
Hopefully this comment won't be as pointless as mine have been as of late 3:48 Attack is x? I guess they never defined an attack value for that one? 4:38 I heard that Smorgs were going to be something summoned by the Shadow Sirens, so if I'm remembering correctly, maybe one of those encounters would be related to that scenario 5:26 Kinda reminds me of the cheep cheep that run the hot air balloon to Glitzville
My initial thought was that x was a variable, meaning that Lord Crump's attack could change under different circumstances during the battle. Then again, they typically use ?? instead of that, don't they?
Jethro-goro The shadow sirens might have been originally designed to fight in every even chapter? 2, boggly wood 4, twilight town 6, poshely heights or even in rogue port? And then the epilogue in the shadow palace Only to be cut down to ease up the memory? Kinda sad though, would’ve been fun to do
i think its clever how you replaced goombella's speech files with your own! it's a creative idea and its like when the npc is talking to you during a tutorial but its actually for a youtube video!
Even the feeling of accurate fan-made content for this game has me reeling and wanting to play it again, it's so sad the series never carried on like this nor went back. Paper Mario 2 is tied to my soul.
I wish they did a paper Mario but for Luigi and his storyline he had throughout this game, using the partners we’d see around him and live the adventures he told
Goombella still has her same characteristics and personality (same thing) during saying about not the canon lore or it but all about the code and the gme files and etcetera.
I read on the MarioWiki that the Dark Atomic Boo was originally intended to be a Miniboss in the Pit, on floor 50. I assume it would drop the Strange Sack that you currently get from the giant chest, similarly to how the regular one drops the Lucky Start badge, and wouldn't ever be re-fought upon re-entering the Pit, like Bonetail.
I like that weird robot guy. He looks like he would of been fun to fight. After two turns his attack rises by 5 or something idk. I think hes just an early version of the dark wizard though.
I'm guessing they originally thought that Zess T's lens getting crushed and Flavio getting mad on the island would be good battle moments, then made them story points.
That's pretty neat, most of these concepts weren't too interesting so it makes sense that they were scrapped, the one exception being okooru. I'm curious to see how it would've worked, though maybe it got cut BECAUSE it was too complicated to design?
I always wondered why there was a red spike top but not a spikeless one, but then again I vaguely remember in the game that the tattle or somewhere said it was for fashion purposes? Oh well. Using Goombella as your text was really creative and neat.
is it just me, or did Smorg 1 look like a living fart cloud. maybe that's why it went unused. Screamy looks a lot like a...*ahem*, so maybe it was intentional, but, still....
4:45 Maybe Zess T. was so mad at Mario for breaking her contacts that he had to fight her to get past. And for Mr. Hoggle, maybe he didn't want Mario to take his egg, so he fought him as well. I don't know about Flavio, Podley, or the Lakitu reporter, however.
Okooru: If you thought you were tough, then Okooru needs to talk. Max Hp is 25, Attack is 5. The more you hit it, the more damage it does. It can do up to 10 damage, starting at five. Try to kill this quickly, or just run away. . . Hyper Bomb-Omb: Now this is just overkill. Max HP is 1, Attack is 10. As soon as you hit these, they go off. You can’t run. They’re very slow on the field, though, so they’re easy to avoid. Ranged attacks don’t do anything to them. There. Two cool ideas.
Here is my guess on how all the enemies would work. Red Buzzy, Red Spikey Parabuzzy, and Red Parabuzzy: These may have been fought in the Glitz Pit. Like the Red Spike Top they would behave the same like their blue counterparts but would have fire immunity. Hyper Bob-omb: Quite obvious what these would do. They would charge up just like other hyper enemies. If it used it's explosion attack while charged it would probably do serious damage. Ultra Bob-omb: These may have just been enhanced versions of the basic Bob-omb having a higher defense and attack power similar to how a Moon Cleft is similar to a normal Cleft. Smorg: It could be possible that individual Smorg clouds would have been fought in Riverside Station possibly as a mini-boss before fighting the whole mass of them on the train as a boss. Strangely one of Luigi's partners is a Smorg and shares the Smorg beta design instead of the final design. The darker colored Smorgs would probably be stronger then the normal lighter colored ones. Oookooru: This is probably my favorite unused enemy. Judging by the mechanical appearance this may have been fought in the X-Naut Fortress. Attacking an Ookooru would make him angry and increase the gauge on his head. Once the gauge is full he would attack with great force. Lord Crump: My guess is that in Boggly Woods you would have fought Lord Crump's second fight there instead of on Keelhaul Key but they probably decided that this Lord Crump fight was too difficult so they moved it to Keelhaul Key. Now for the NPCS and what role they would have probably had. Admiral Bobbery: Judging by his appearance his backstory may have been different in development as he is shown in his beta design resembling more of a general then an admiral. Spunburger: It's common theory that this was going to be one of Luigi's partners and when Luigi showed up in Rogueport at one point to talk about his long winded stories Spunburger would be seen with him. Green Cheep Cheep: This may have just been a basic NPC you would find in towns. Probably Poshley Heights because Chef Shimi is seen working on the Excess Express which is the train that goes to said town. Green Cheep Cheep 2: This is interesting as this Cheep Cheep sports a tie. It could be possible that this may have been an early concept for the Businessman but they changed his design to a more unique creature known as a Ratooey to make him stand out more. PM64 partners: Similar to Bow my guess is that all these partners would have made cameos in the game in some form but were removed so only Parakarry and Bow made the cuts.
My take on the unfinished stuff: Okooru = Rage-O-Meter Tattle: That's a Rage-O-Meter. It's some sort of robot made by Grodus. Max HP is 25, Attack is 3, and Defense is 1. Every time you jump on it, that meter on its head goes up and it can hit us harder. Hit it with something like Kooper's shell. That'll keep it from getting angry! Dark Atomic Boo tattle: That's a Dark Atomic Boo. It's a giant Dark Boo made up of lots of smaller Boos. So I guess it's four times as creepy? Max HP is 40, Attack is 4, and Defense is 0. This thing can smush us and send lots of smaller Dark Boos at us, and when it stops, we could be so scared we might end up dizzy or unable to attack. So I'd take it out quickly if I were you!
Okooru and Shy Guy cuts (my fave enemies) are the biggest loss imo. Dark Atomic Boo and Prince Mush would've been cool too since TTYD is short on optional bosses compared to 64
While I haven't encountered anything like that in this game, I encountered a trainer with a turtwig in hgss early in the game, despite such a trainer not being there

This was great! Very creative and entertaining. It felt so natural, too.
(1:39) That is a red buzzy. It has a red hard shell, when you stomp it, it will cuddle in it's shell. You can knock it back at other enemies.
Yeah, Spiked Buzzy Beetles are called Spike Tops, but Paper Mario decided to ignore that fact until Sticker Star
something about seeing unused elements of a game from almost 20 years ago is so eerie to me lol
The unused NPC journal entries were probably related to an early (albeit scrapped) plan to have all NPCs in their own journal.
I like that weird robot guy. He looks like he would of been fun to fight. After two turns his attack rises by 5 or something idk. I think hes just an early version of the dark wizard though.
Wow, I like how Goombella says why Okooru went completely unused, because it is old in the disc and the model couldn't be moved.
Strange how none of these have programming
Nice presentation! Thanks dude, you're a boss.
Now I’m imagining a scenario in which you step on Zess T’s contact lens and she gets so mad that she picks a fight with you.

Now I wanna make a Fan Paper Mario Game with these characters...
they actually have all the n64 cameos in PMTTYD in fact Goombario makes fun of Goombella.
I wonder why there was NPC battle data. Maybe you were going to fight Zess T. when you broke her contact lenses or a Lakitu Reporter in Glitz Pit.
6:10 Wait, Pacifier!? I Thought It Was A Whistle?
Why would she have a whistle?
Skawo I Don't Know Or Because It Nearly Resembles One.

Well its my theory as to where it wouldve appeared in anyway sheesh

While I haven't encountered anything like that in this game, I encountered a trainer with a turtwig in hgss early in the game, despite such a trainer not being there
