@@skirdus367 You can, since you can do the same when he throws you good items. But he the only audience member that stays if you hit him (at least form what I've seen).
The player actually can "inflict" poison on an enemy but it's a really small chance of happening. The player can confuse an enemy that can poison and then that enemy might attack its allies and poison them.
I think that's why the Bulky Bob-ombs were the only enemies with "unused" poison animations, since I don't think it's possible to encounter them with any enemy that can inflict poison.
@metroidnerd9001 Actually it is. In the Pit of 100 Trials the Bulky Bomb-Ombs can appear with Poison Pokeys. The Bob-Ulks in the 90s can also appear with Poison Puffs (I assume Bob-Ulks have a poison animation too). I think the Bulky Bomb-Ombs animation actually ISN'T unused. I think it was added in with the intention of them accidentally getting poisoned in the Pit of 100 Trials with confusion from those enimies.
Also the "Poison" animation can also be seen on Lucky (The Bulky Bomb-Omb who runs the Happy Lucky Lottery) if you change the Gamecube clock to try to "cheat" it.
@@nidokinggames44 That's probably why the animation exists in the first place. I think a lot of the "unused" poison animations for bosses just reuse animations used for cutscenes, usually close to their defeat, that portray them weakening.
@metroidnerd9001 Good theory. I realized another possible reason for two characters having a poison animation and that is Doopliss and Cortez. I think Beldam in the second fight can actually use a Poison Attack so I think that's another theory for why his animation exists because he can get poisoned if Beldam is confused. Cortez' weapons can poison Mario as well and they have a 90% confuse rate (source: Mario Wiki) so I think it's possible for them to poison Cortez.
The Iron Clefts should've had their Dizzy & Confused animations switched because although that still leaves on status where they don't move...it would actually not feel that weird if when they're confused, they just stop moving. Like they simply stop processing information since they're not exactly the brightest bulbs. Anyways, I wonder if this is a leftover of a point in development wherr Mario and/or a partner had the ability to poison enemies, whether an attack or an item. Since not every enemy has a unique animation & presumably none of them crash when being poison, I wonder if these were left in as a failsafe or if the devs just didn't feel like removing animations once it was decided that Mario & co can't posion enemies.
I think it's just someone making animations for enemies, knowing full well that this enemy can't be poisoned... for now. Because the developers might change it, and it'd look bad if the animation guy didn't make those animations.
0:52 DAMN, HE'S ROCKIN OUT he's not confused, he's jammin to the battle music It reminds me of the rocker zombie pvz2 if you know what I'm talking about
I wonder if there was going to be a badge or partner with Poison because there is too many unique animations for it to be 1 item that would poison enemies
Fascinating... I wonder if the original intention for Iron Clefts was to CONFUSE them so they beat each other up. After all, the only way to beat them, is by using Yoshi and throw one of them at the other. I always wondered why we never got the ability to poison enemies. We can BURN them, yes. But I would love the OG Poison status.
I think this can be done in Riverside Station without hacks. Just make sure there's a Ruff Puff and a Poison Pokey when you enter battle. Just inflict Confuse on the Poison Pokey, and if it attacks the Ruff Puff, it should be able to inflict Poison.
I don’t believe bosses attack each other if confused. For instance, I confused Doopliss with Head Rattle during the Shadow Sirens battle in the Palace of Shadows and he didn’t attack Marilyn or Beldam. Instead, he would either be so confused that he does nothing, or attack normally.
I find it funny that some bosses have animations for statuses even though most bosses are immune to status debuffs. Are there even any bosses than can have ANY status debuffs other than Macho Grubba?
they should have given us poison touch. a jump with 2-4 turns of poison depending on enemy vs Boss 2 for boss 4 for enemies, for 3 FP. 1 damage with first boot, 2 damage with 2nd boot, 3 damage on enemies 2 damage on boss with final boots. (1 damage on bosses until final boot)
All I want to do is theorize about a cut "Toxic Powder" as a Spite Pouch/Ruin Powder color swap or a "Toxic Smash" badge 'cause I don't think a poison stomp would work. Maybe a partner was going to have a poison ability. Mowz sounds like the most likely one with being a thief. Flurrie Could do a poison fog but that's not really her style. Or maybe still a poison fog could roll in rarely in the place of a normal fog cloud.
Would it be possible to perhaps write a cheat code to check if an enemy has 5 HP or less, and if so use their poison/"low HP" animation so these unused animations _can_ be used? As far as I can tell, the game has to be checking for that, given that power rush/last stand/close call does properly apply to enemies at 5 HP or less when they're holding said badges.
Yes, they are. Dizziness has a chance of making Mario, his partner, or enemies miss their attack. Confusion, on the other hand, great,y hinders action commands. For Mario and his partner, confusion can cause them to hit each other or use a completely different action command than what was intended, and for enemies, they’ll also hit each other if there’s a group, or be so confused that they don’t do anything.
I haven’t really experimented with that, but I doubt it. For instance, I doubt Doopliss would be able to be poisoned in the remake if he wasn’t able to in the original
Using unused music for showcasing unused animations. Oh you.
The iron cleft confused animation technically doesn't go unused because that's the animation they use in the cutscene after you beat them both times
good point

So it is unused, since the cutscene was a cut scene?
@yoshiwoollyworld They fixed their typo, the original comment used to say "cut scene" not "cutscene"

You know, I never understood why the Spinia line isn't immune- or at the very least, resistant- to Dizzy. Anyone wanna explain that one to me?
Maybe they're accustomed to only horizontal spinning and the dial spinning them around does dizzy them because it's not the same.
Maybe like how ballerinas are still capable of getting dizzy?
@@bsharpmajorscale Except ballerinas aren't literally made to spin around. Even then, shouldn't they become Dizzy when they attack?
